Ever thought you're ADHD? Join me, Claire, an executive assistant navigating her career with ADHD, as we redefine the narrative around neurodivergence. During my journey from being diagnosed with severe ADHD at 31 to becoming a spokesperson for ADHD within my company, I've learned how to leverage neurodivergence into a strength. I'm here to share the wisdom, insights, and strategies I've gathered over the years in easy-to-digest episodes.

In this podcast, we'll tackle a wide range of topics, whether it's learning to manage your symptoms at work, parenting kids with ADHD, or trying not to drive your non-ADHD spouse up the wall, I've got you covered. From personal experiences to research, my mission is to help you understand, empathize, and ultimately work with your ADHD, rather than against it. So step into my world, where ADHD is not just a challenge, but a gift. Together, let's break the stigma and celebrate our unique minds.

Claire (00:02):
Hi, I'm Claire and I'm an executive assistant with ADHD
inattentive type.
If you're familiar with ADHD,you may know that one of the
hallmarks is difficulty withexecutive functioning.
So the fact that I'm anexecutive assistant with
difficulty in executivefunctioning may be
counterintuitive, but it workswell and I'm hoping I can
explain that, and so much moreduring this podcast.

(00:25):
The purpose of this podcast issimple to help people who deal
with ADHD, whether by having itor by living, parenting or
working with people with it, anddoing so in short, standalone,
easily digestible episodes.
In a perfect world where I'msuccessful at this, there will
be plenty of episodes to flipthrough so you can find episodes

(00:45):
that apply to your specificneed.
I was diagnosed last year at 31years old with fairly severe
ADHD.
I'd learned a lot of tricks tohelp me prior to my diagnosis
and have learned significantlymore since.
I am a fairly open book aboutmy journey because I believe
neurodivergence is far morecommon than perhaps most people

(01:05):
realize and the only way todestigmatize it is to talk about
it.
I'm not ashamed, because myADHD is both a gift and a burden
, and when people are aware, they're more understanding.
I want that understanding andempathy to be given to everyone.
Now, it's important to pointout that I am not a medical
professional, nor do I have adegree in psychology or

(01:27):
neurobiology.
I am simply someone with ADHDwho has done a lot of research,
tried a lot of things and mostrecently, was a spokesperson for
ADHD within my company.
In fact, that was the catalystfor this podcast.
I was interviewed for ADHDAwareness Month, October, and at
the end of my second hour-longinterview I joked that I felt

(01:48):
ready to launch a podcast on thesubject, and the two
interviewers were very seriouslyencouraging it.
Since then, I've had peopleindicate interest, including
suggesting topics they'd like tosee, be it parenting kids with
ADHD, being a parent with ADHD,what it was like to have
undiagnosed ADHD as a child, functioning in an office with

(02:09):
ADHD, how to not drive yournon-ADHD spouse up a wall with
your ADHD symptoms, etc.
I've spent a lot of time andeffort learning to live with my
ADHD instead of against it, andI hope this podcast can help
others find empathy andunderstanding while learning to
be more aware of neurodivergencein our society.
