We rank every album of a given artist's discography--one artist at a time.
Given U2 are the most-famous act to emerge from Ireland, we decided to shout-out and show some love towards other musical acts to emerge from that country.
There are some strong songs in the U2 catalog. I do think that there is at least one standout cut on most of their albums (even after their decline) .
As per Duke's request, we're covering Ireland's most famous musical export.
This is a discog we all dug the early parts of. But the last 20 years have not been kind to Bono and company.
The reason for the limitation in the title? It'd be solos from his Pink Floyd years if we didn't put it in.
And that's a shame because his solo career proves that he hasn't lost that melodic emotional quality that defines his playing.
Even his career outside of Pink Floyd has a few gems.
This was something we did when *Luck and Strange* had just come out: the solo career of Duke's favorite guitar player.
We see it all the time--groups that hit a down period that they never seem to get out of. But some groups hit them harder, sharper, and more-acutely than others. Here are the ones we think hit them the hardest.
With a legacy as long as Aerosmith's, there's a good chunk of memorable tunes. We select what we think are the cream-of-the-crop.
The boys from Boston had their discog ranked by three midwestern fans to commemorate their decision to retire from touring (which was a recent event at the time of recording, but technical hiccups and delays on multiple parties made things tardy).
We are going stir crazy the further we get into their discog. Because--spoilers--it starts out amazing, but boy howdy are there some bad Aerosmith albums towards the end of their career.
Since Kendrick was announced as the performer for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, we decided it fitting to make a tier list of all the pop-stars, rockers, and rappers that have done their thing at the Super Bowl over the years (starting with Michael Jackson in 1993).
Kendrick's catalog is multi-faceted and full of both bangers and contemplative numbers. So in many respects, this is one of the most varied list-offs we've done (complete with VERY different Top 5s).
First of all, the meme thumbnail was Duke's idea and I found it so hilarious that I knew it HAD to be the thumbnail before we even recorded the episode.
This was a pretty good episode and the podcast's first foray into hardcore punk.
We're going to the land down under for what basically amounts to the Australian version of The Police and discover their first two albums are pretty good.
Now in our bid to cover smaller discogs, we (Soren was on vacation and Para was absent) cover the fabulously-and-openly-gay Trevor Horn-produced synthpop group that dominated the British singles charts in 1984: Frankie Goes To Hollywood. But let's be real: 90% of folks only know "Relax" when I think "Two Tribes" is the better song.
A little bit late from our intended launch date (Super Bowl Sunday), but all three of us (unfortunately, Soren couldn't make it) are longtime fans of Kendrick. And as such, quite a few of these albums prompt extended discussion.
All by herself, Meander concocts alternate tracklistings for famous multi-disc albums from Prince's catalog and sees how well they flow.
With a discog as large as the Purple One's, we figured just doing a regular Top Songs wasn't going to cut it. So we took one from every album.
Given Andre's reputation for tearing up a track he features on, we figured we'd go on about some of our fave 16s he's spit outside of OutKast.
With a catalog as rich as this duo from Atlanta's, we were at loggerheads picking our favorites.
This one was picked by Meander (hello, that's me) for her birthday month of July 2024...if you're seeing this, apologies for the long delay.
Our longest episode to date at over 5 hours long, you can tell that I am a huge devotee of His Royal Badness whose appreciation only deepened in this run-through of The Purple One's vast, 40 album catalog.
Duke will say that I went too hard with my love for Prince's considerabl...
