Speaker 2 (00:00):
Hello.
Welcome to the Allie D show.
I'm Allie D.
Well, TikTok is back for now.
That was a very short lived ban.
I think it was under 24 hours, but we learned a fricking lot
about this TikTok ban situation.
And I want to talk to you aboutone of the most important
takeaways that you have as abusiness owner when it comes to
(00:23):
making sure you are setting yourbusiness up for long term
success.
Here's the scoopity scoop.
So many people rely on oneplatform to generate sales for
themselves.
And this was so glaringlyapparent when they were
(00:46):
announcing that there was apossible Tik Tok ban going on
and the Tik Tok world went wild, especially the business owners.
Rightfully so, because a lot ofthem have created massive.
massive businesses just usingTikTok, massive ones.
I mean, we're talking, you know, six figure months, days,
incredibly successfulbusinesses.
(01:07):
Thank goodness from the TikTokplatform.
But what we also learned wasthat if TikTok was going to go
away, these businesses weregoing to lose their entire sales
strategy.
Because all it was.
This has been something thatI've been harping on since day
(01:31):
one is we cannot as businessowners put all of our eggs in
one basket when it comes tocreating a business that's,
you're in it for the long haul.
You want longterm success.
You cannot put all of your eggsin one basket.
And a lot of these businessowners just went.
So all in on tick tock and nevertook the, cause it was easy,
(01:52):
right?
But never took the time toactually expand their businesses
and build their own customerbase.
Because here's the scoop.
When you are selling through thetick tock platform, you do not
own any of that customer data.
That all belongs to tick tockthe way that we can build
(02:16):
incredible business So I'm goingto talk to you today about how
to get people off of thesesocial media platforms and onto
our own websites.
If you're not doing this andpracticing this on a daily
basis, and you're relying uponTik Tok shop or IgE shop to move
(02:37):
product for you, what wouldhappen if those sales channels
were ripped out from underneathyou and now all of a sudden you
had no Tik Tok, would you beable to sustain?
Would you have a massive drop inyour profit and in your sales?
If anything ever happened to anyof these sales channels, what
(03:00):
would happen to your business?
So this was incrediblyeyeopening for so many business
owners that depend upon TikTokbecause when, and this goes for
the influencers, this goes foranybody making money on the
TikTok.
platform.
All of a sudden, it felt like avery fleeting short term
business because yes, they weremaking a crap ton of money, but
(03:22):
what are they going to do whenthat platform went away?
They had nothing to monetizebecause they didn't build
anything for themselves outsideof these platforms that we don't
own, right?
We don't own the data.
We don't own our pages.
We don't, they could ban you inthe blink of an eye.
And I've seen this happen.
You guys, I've.
Seeing this happen time and timeagain, friends that have built
(03:44):
incredible followings onInstagram.
They wake up one day and theirpage is suspended gone for like
a reasons.
They have no idea what happened.
And then good fricking luck.
Trying to get someone atFacebook or Instagram to help
you with that.
I mean, I've known people thathave paid like thousands of
dollars for people to try torecover their accounts.
(04:07):
Because that's how importantthese pages were to them.
And I understand, you know, youspend eternity building up your
pages.
But the important lesson here isknowing that you have to spend
the most effort getting peopleoff of these platforms and on to
your website.
This is where the long term gameis.
(04:28):
This is how you create ravingfans.
Because if TikTok were to goaway, it'd be no big deal.
still on your email list, they're still buying from you.
Like I had really, we have, um,like tick tocks, not a huge part
of our, um, strategy right nowwhen it comes to social media,
we have in the past used it.
I mean, I use it on occasion, but quite frankly, it's just not
(04:50):
a big part of our equation rightnow, especially with how.
Everything was kind of like upin the air, but TikTok going
away did not affect my businessone iota.
Like it just didn't.
We have thousands and thousandsof customers on our email list
that we reach every single week.
So it's not, it was not an issuefor us.
I mean, it's a, I, I likeTikTok.
(05:12):
It's a fun platform.
You know, I, I think it's reallycool seeing how creative people
are and learning about things Inever would have access to.
But when it comes to supportingmy business, No, no, no, no, no,
no.
You can't put your business inthe hands of somebody else.
(05:32):
It's your business.
So really think about and focuson your content is only supposed
to gain awareness.
from people on social media, andthen we have to drive them to
your website.
That's the whole point ofcontent, is to get them off
(05:54):
these platforms, onto yourwebsite, buying from you, onto
your email list, and collectingthe data so you own it.
Ugh, I felt so bad for all thesepeople on TikTok, that were just
Like it's so devastated becausetheir entire businesses and I
wanted to go, I've been talkingabout this for so long.
(06:15):
You cannot put all of your eggsin the tick tock or Instagram or
Facebook basket because they canrip it all out from you in the
blink of an eye.
And we actually saw it happen inreal time, but thank goodness
it's back for those businessowners, whatever your thoughts
are on tick tock.
I hate to see any businesssuffer, especially because
listen making money using ticktock shop and all the things.
It's not like that's a breeze.
(06:36):
That's.
still takes a crap ton of work.
I mean, when you're live on TikTok and you want to sell
products, you got to hang out onthere for hours and then you're
done going live and it just goesaway.
Like at least on Instagram andFacebook, you can put post the
live to your profile page.
You can get some replays onthere, but on Tik Tok, that
sucker, when you're done, you'reit's done.
(06:56):
It's gone.
So nobody has access to anyreplays.
So yes, just make sure that youunderstand why you're using
social media, that it's.
solely to support the growth ofyour business, to get them onto
your, your website, your stuff.
Okay.
(07:16):
So this is just a quickreminder.
Don't fall into the trap in anyshape or form.
When, when any of these socialmedia platforms become, um, you
know, your sole source.
It becomes a very riskybusiness, so we got to have
balance, okay?
Have an amazing day, and I willtalk to you manana.
