Speaker 8 (00:00):
Welcome to the show.
I'm Allie D.
It is currently 10 p.
m.
and I just left the grocerystore.
I was that person that was likethe last one in there and it was
funny because the reason why wasI actually went to the warehouse
after dinner to do some work ona massive of order that we have

(00:20):
going out to a business, thename of it is Bucky's.
So some of you may be familiarwith Bucky's.
It is a Texas based business, but they have expanded across
the country.
They've got like 30 somethingstores.
They're opening more this yearand it is just an incredible
fricking opportunity.
And I'll tell the whole story ofhow this all went down on
another episode.

(00:41):
But um, we, you know, we got thenight shift because this order
is just thousands upon thousandsupon thousands upon thousands
upon thousands of products.
It is so massive.
So we kind of are like, we kindof have like the, the team, the
regular team is working all day, late hours, long hours, I should

(01:02):
say.
And then I went in after dinnerand then another printer came in
to just kind of help continue topush through even in the, the
late hours of the night.
This is a late hours of thenight.
When you have kids, this is likesuper late.
I'm like, Ooh, I'm out here.
Like, you know, it used to be,you just getting ready to go to
the club at 10 PM.
Now I'm like, Ooh, I'm out late.
So anyways, um, and that was, bythe way, like 20 years ago, that

(01:24):
was a long time ago in my life.
But, um, yeah, I was that girlat the grocery store that was
the last one in there justgrabbing a few things.
Diapers, milk, eggs for, uh, 7for two, uh, you know, uh, 18
pack.
Ugh, eggs.
Why are they so expensive rightnow?
Anywho, what I wanted to talk toyou about this episode and the

(01:44):
reason why I feel like thisepisode's gonna be so good for
you.
for you to hear is because a lotof times when I first talked to
business owners or people arelike DMing me or they first come
into my world, one of the thingsI know that they struggle with
the most is growing theiraudience.
So you know, growing yourcustomer base, growing your
audience, getting more eyeballs, people, you want people to know

(02:05):
that you exist.
You're like, hello, I'm outhere.
I have super cute stuff.
Why aren't you buying for me?
And it's a lot of the times it'sjust people don't know you're
there yet.
They don't, your customers areout there.
And I always tell my clientsthis, I'm always like, listen,
your customers.
out there waiting for you, butit's your responsibility to
learn how to get visible onthese social media platforms so
they actually find you becausethey are going to find you.

(02:30):
And that is the beauty of allthis, which creates such a more
natural and fun and loyalconnection than if you were like
trying to hound customers downor chase them down, which all,
we all know, they're going torun for the hills, but it's a
much more natural connectionwhen they feel like they have
found you.
so your job is done.
Um, and my job is to be able tolearn how to create content to

(02:51):
land into their feeds, to teachthe algorithm who you are and
who's going to like your stuff.
Because remember these platformswant us to be successful.
Okay.
They don't want our content todie and go to the graveyard of
IgE or Tik Tok or Facebook.
They want our content toflourish.
They love that.
They love when people createamazing content that their users

(03:14):
connect with because that justkeeps them on the site, on their
platform longer.
Right.
The end of the day, it's allabout them.
Dollars.
Those eyeballs on theirplatforms mean more dollars in
their pockets because there'smore, uh, profit for their
advertisers.
So advertisers spend more moneyon their platforms and that's
how it all works.
Right?
It's all about the mightydollar.
So what I want to ask you iswhat is as a business owner and

(03:39):
if you have been in business oryou're thinking about starting a
business, I want you to thinkabout this.
What is one of the first thingsyou need to do when you're going
to create your business?
Because most people have thisbackward, backwards.
So most people actually buyproducts, you know, they buy or
create their products and thenthey, um, you know, take their

(04:03):
product photos.
They do their website, all thethings, the things that take,
takes quite a bit of time andeffort to do.
Then they're like, okay, I'mready to launch.
I'm ready to sell my products.
And what happens is there's noone to sell your stuff to
because you've been focusing oncreating the products, creating
the products.
I'm going to show you how tocreate a website without even

(04:26):
dipping your toes in to creatingyour audience.
And a lot of times stores willbe like, or store owners or
people that are interested inopening a store or business are
like, okay, well I need to getmy products ready.
I need to get my pictures.
I need to get everything, youknow, the videos I need to get
all this, this and that like upon the website and everything.
And I'm like, okay, yeah.
But then when you go live, who'sgoing to buy your stuff?

(04:49):
Nobody.
Because you haven't built youraudience yet.
So, it's, it's opposite of whatmost people think.
Most people think, you know, have the products ready, then
start posting content, but it'sactually opposite.
You want to grow your audience, get your content going, and then

(05:09):
when you're ready to launch, youhave people already in your
audience that are ready to buy.
So as a business owner, I wantyou to ask yourself, how much
time, if you're already up andrunning, how much time do you
spend?
working on growing your audienceor are you 90 percent focused on

(05:31):
your products Or do you focusyour time on or any time at all
on growing your audience?
So for me, one of thebusinesses, I have a business
called Western life and stylethat I co own with, um, an
amazing girl, Nicole, NicoleNava, James.
She also owns Zona girlmarketing her and I have been

(05:53):
working together for over adecade and this business we
started probably I don't know.
It's probably six seven yearsago at this point, which is
insane.
But when we started thatbusiness We didn't have one
thing for sale Okay.
And you're going, huh, whatyou're starting a business and
you don't even have anything forsale.
Because we understoodunknowingly at the time, we kind

(06:16):
of just were, I guess, ahead ofour time thinking like, this is
what we actually need to do.
We need to build the audiencefirst and then we can monetize
it.
But, um, which now is like kindof talked about way more often,
but back then it was a novelidea that we had.
And I went to her and I said,Nicole, here's the idea.
I want to do this, this, andthat.
Um, which she was workingtogether with me on my led side.

(06:39):
And I said, I want us to startthis, you know, community for
Western women where we cangather and celebrate our Western
life and culture.
I feel like, and at the timethere was nobody doing that.
There was nothing out thereavailable for our niche.
And I felt like we just needed acommunity where we can celebrate
what was going on and highlighteverything and all these
incredible businesses.

(06:59):
And there wasn't really eveninfluencers that at that time,
you know, so we kind of likestarted a whole thing, but we
didn't have anything for salefor months, maybe six months.
We just worked on building ouraudience, growing our audience.
And you know, quite frankly, itmight've even been a year before
we did any kind of monetizing ofthat business.

(07:22):
But what it allowed us to do iswhen we did finally have
something for sale, we were ableto launch to an audience who
already loved us and trusted us.
So it was very easy for us toturn Western life and style into
a business because we alreadyhad the audience.
So many people put the cartbefore the horse where you have

(07:44):
the products with no audienceand you feel bad because you're
trying to sell your products dayin and day out and you're
showing up but you're notfocusing enough on growing your
audience or you launched yourbusiness with zero audience in
which case don't freak outbecause all this is fixable.
So if you're like, Oh my gosh, this is me.
I need a bigger audience.
I, you know, I feel like I haveamazing products or I want to

(08:07):
start an amazing business, butI, I just don't have the
audience yet.
Frickin great.
We can build the audience.

So I want to invite you insidethe trendsetter membership.
If you feel like this is, thisis something that you're like,
yes, I want to grow my audiencebecause guys, if you've been
putting the cart before thehorse, meaning you've been
focusing on, you know, yourproducts, what you have for sale
instead of growing youraudience, you got to switch.

(09:56):
You got to get that horse infront of the cart or the carts
never going to get pulledanywhere, right?
You just need to stay stuckthere in the dirt.
And the horse is like in theback going, uh, you got to put
me in front of the cart, It'slike, okay, I get it.
So anyways, that's a littlevisual for you.
If you feel like you're like onthe horse behind the cart, you

(10:17):
got to get in front of it.
And getting in front of it meansfocusing on growing your
audience.
Okay.
Hey, your girl is just gettingready to pull into the house.
I'm going to, um, it's 10 PM.
Chances are money's on that.
The kids have not had a bath yetor are not ready for bed.
