SPEAKER_01 (01:08):
Whether it's food or
drugs or sex, pornography,
alcohol, money, thing.
Gossip.
Help us to break free of thoseaddictions with your strength,
(01:30):
Father.
Give us your strength.
Give us perseverance.
Help us to appreciate thosepeople that you put in our
lives.
Father.
Help us to love them.
As you love us.
(01:52):
Love our neighbors as ourselves.
Forgive us when we fail.
SPEAKER_00 (01:59):
Forgive us when we
go back to the same failings,
the same sins over and overagain, Father.
Help us to overcome them.
Help us to pick ourselves backup, or let you pick us back up.
And keep stumbling forward, keeprunning the race until the very

SPEAKER_01 (02:26):
Not here on earth.
And God no words, Father,please.
In your son's family pray.
SPEAKER_00 (02:35):
Amen.
Stumbled across across a coupleof great things.
Uh article out of the Epic Timeswas one of them, and then a
commentator that I follow onlinetalking about relationships,
marriage, and actually a couplecommentators online recently.
(02:57):
Folks, the the bottom line in amarriage is that whatever's
important to our spouse ought tobe equally important to us.
And it it ought to be at leastas important to us as our own
(03:20):
thing is, whatever that is.
And it doesn't it doesn't matterwhat it is, folks.
That's that's irrelevant.
It could be sitting and talking, holding hands, going for a walk,
it could be cooking together, working out together, hunting
together, going for a ride in acar together.
(03:41):
It could be sex.
I mean, it it can be any numberof things, folks.
Whatever it is that's importantto your spouse ought to be as
important to you as what'simportant to you, if that makes
(04:02):
sense.
However much you value yourimportant things, you ought to
value your spouses.
And it ought to be an everydaything, folks.
Whatever it is.
And if you don't know what itis, you need to figure out.
And if you know what it is andyou aren't doing it, you need
to, as we used to say in theMarine Corps, you need to fix
(04:24):
yourself.
Square yourself away.
We're gonna jump into the Bibleverses today.
And I'm gonna go ahead and tellyou I got a little out of order
on the next few podcasts, soforgive me.
(04:46):
Somehow, I let Columbus Daystumble upon us without having
put together the notes and thetime for the podcast like we do
each year.
We spend about a week on thepodcast, and so we're gonna
start today.
But that means I had to shufflesome other podcasts around.
(05:10):
Uh, so forgive me for that.
We'll come back to them, Ipromise.
So we're gonna skip ahead toHebrews twelve fourteen through
twenty-nine, and we will startthere.
Work at living in peace witheveryone, and work at living a
holy life, for those who are notholy will not see the Lord.
(05:31):
Look after each other so thatnone of you fails to receive the
grace of God.
Watch out that no poisonous rootof bitterness grows up to
trouble you, corrupting many.
Make sure that no one is immoralor godless like Esau, who traded
his birthright as the firstbornson for a single meal.
(05:51):
You know that afterward, when hewanted his father's blessing, he
was rejected.
It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with
bitter tears.
You have not come to a physicalmountain, to a place of flaming
fire, darkness, gloom, andwhirlwind, as the Israelites did
(06:12):
at Mount Sinai.
For they heard an awesometrumpet blast and a voice so
terrible that they begged God tostop speaking.
They staggered back under God'scommand.
If even an animal touches themountain, it must be stoned to
death.
Moses himself was so frightenedat the sight that he said, I am
terrified and trembling.
(06:35):
No, you have come to Mount Zion,to the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and tocountless thousands of angels in
a joyful gathering.
You have come to the assembly ofGod's firstborn children, whose
names are written in heaven.
You have come to God Himself, who is the judge over all
(06:56):
things.
You have come to the spirits ofthe righteous ones in heaven,
who have now been made perfect.
You have come to Jesus, the onewho mandates the new covenant
between God and people, and tothe sprinkled blood, which
speaks of forgiveness instead ofcrying out for vengeance like
(07:17):
the blood of Abel.
Be careful that you do notrefuse to listen to the one who
is speaking.
For if the people of Israel didnot escape when they refused to
listen to Moses, the earthlymessenger, we will certainly not
escape if we reject the one whospeaks to us from heaven.
When God spoke from Mount Sinai, his voice shook the earth, but
now he makes another promise.
(07:39):
Once again I will shake not onlythe earth but the heavens also.
This means that all of creationwill be shaken and removed, so
that only unshakable things willremain.
Since we are receiving a kingdomthat is unshakable, let us be
thankful and please God byworshiping him with holy fear
and awe.
For our God is a devouring fire.
(08:09):
Yes, give praise, O servants ofthe Lord, praise the name of the
Lord.
Blessed be the name of the Lordnow and forever.
Everywhere from east to west, praise the name of the Lord.
For the Lord is high above thenations.
His glory is higher than theheavens.
Who can be compared with theLord our God, who is enthroned
(08:29):
on high?
He stoops to look down on heavenand on earth, he lifts the poor
from the dust and the needy fromthe garbage up.
He sets them among princes, eventhe princes of his own people.
He gives the childless woman afamily, making her a happy
mother.
Praise the Lord.
When the Israelites escaped fromEgypt, when the family of Jacob
(08:50):
left that foreign land, the landof Judah became God's sanctuary,
and Israel became his kingdom.
The Red Sea saw them coming andhurried out of their way.
The water of the Jordan Riverturned away.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
What's wrong, Red Sea that madeyou hurry out of their way?
(09:11):
What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?
Why mountains did you skip likerams?
Why hills like lambs?
Tremble earth at the presence ofthe Lord.
At the presence of the God ofJacob.
He turned the rock into a poolof water, yes, a spring of water
flowed from solid rock.
(09:34):
Proverbs twenty seven verseeighteen through twenty.
As workers who tend the fig treeare allowed to eat its fruit, so
workers who protect theiremployers' interests will be
rewarded.
As a face is reflected in water,so the heart reflects the real
person.
Just as death and destructionare never satisfied, so human
desire is never satisfied.
(09:57):
You really want to see who thereal person is in front of you,
watch their actions, becausethat reflects their heart,
right?
And that gives you an idea ofthe person's true character.
You go back to Hebrews 12, 28,29.
Since we are receiving a kingdomthat is unshakable, let us be
(10:18):
thankful and please God byworshiping him with holy fear
and awe, for our God is adevouring fire.
We ought to be pretty fearful, folks.
We ought to be concerned aboutpleasing God.
We ought to be asking, becausehe promises that he'll help us
when we ask.
We ought to be asking to do hiswill each day, turning to him.
(10:43):
And there ought to be some fearthere, folks.
There ought to be.
(11:25):
May 6, 1864, WildernessCampaign, Virginia, USA.
Rallied and led into action aportion of the troops who had
given way under the fierceassaults of the enemy.
Accredited to Canyonsburg,Washington County, Pennsylvania,
not awarded posthumously,presented August 31st, 1893.
(11:47):
Born December 4th, 1841,Philadelphia, died March 22nd,
1912, Philadelphia.
Buried Laurel Hill Cemetery,Wi-Tac 195, Philadelphia,

Henry Harrison Bingham.
So each year, as I mentionedearlier, we delve into
(12:09):
Christopher Columbus and hisactual writings.
There's some great excerpts fromAmerica's God and Country
Encyclopedia of Quotations,William J.
Federer.
There's also some pretty goodexcerpts out of the American
Patriots Bible and AmericanFounders, or the Founders Bible
by the Wall Builder Association.
(12:29):
And then, of course, there's thebooks that Columbus from his
notes had some other historiesthat people have done.
But the modern narrative that wesee in education so often today
that Columbus came to theAmerically to rape, pillage,
plunder just doesn't match withthe actual history.
(12:55):
And the also the other flipside, right?
Indigenous People's Day, we'regoing to talk about the
Indigenous people, but it's notgoing to be quite in the way
that so many academics andleftists want us to talk about
it.
We're going to talk about theactual history, the fact, for
example, that there werecannibals on these islands and
the atrocities that theycommitted, which kind of breaks
(13:16):
down the narrative that theindigenous people lived this
utopic lifestyle until theAmericans got there or the
Europeans.
But at any rate, we we're goingto go through this week and
we're going to read some actualhistory.
So we're going to start today.
This is out of the Book ofProphecies, Libro de los
(13:42):
Profitius.
Probably said that wrong.
For more than forty years I havesailed everywhere that people
go.
I prayed to the most mercifulLord about my heart's great
desire, and he gave me thespirit and intelligence for the
(14:03):
task.
Seafaring, astronomy, geometry, arithmetic, skill in drafting
spherical maps, and placingcorrectly the city's rivers,
mountains, and ports.
I also studied cosmology, history, chronology, and
philosophy.
It was the Lord who put into mymind I could feel his hand upon
(14:25):
me, the fact that it would bepossible to sell from here to
the Indies.
All who'd heard of my projectrejected it with laughter,
ridiculing me.
There is no question that theinspiration was from the Holy
Spirit because he comforted mewith rays of marvelous
illumination from the HolyScriptures, a strong and clear
(14:46):
testimony from the forty-fourbooks of the Old Testament, from
the four gospels, and from thetwenty-three epistles of the
Blessed Apostles.
Encouraging me continually topress forward, and without
ceasing for a moment, they nowencourage me to make haste.
Our Lord Jesus desired toperform a very obvious miracle
in the voyage to the Andis tocomfort me and the whole people
(15:08):
of God.
I spent seven years in the royalcourt discussing the matter with
many persons of great reputationand wisdom in all the arts, and
in the end they concluded thatit was all foolishness, so they
gave it up.
But since things generally cameto pass that were predicted by
our Savior Jesus Christ, weshould also believe that this
(15:29):
particular prophecy will come topass.
In support of this I offer thegospel text, Matthew 24 25, in
which Jesus said that all thingswould pass away, but not his
marvelous word.
He affirmed that it wasnecessary that all things be
fulfilled, that were prophesiedby himself and by the prophets.
I said that I would state myreasons.
(15:51):
I hold alone to the sacred andholy scriptures, and to the
interpretations of prophecygiven by certain devout persons.
It is possible that those whosee this book will accuse me of
being unlearned in literature,of being a layman and a sailor.
I reply with the words ofMatthew 11 25, Lord, because
(16:12):
thou hast hid these things fromthe wise and prudent, and hath
revealed them unto babes.
The Holy Scriptures testify inthe Old Testament by our
Redeemer Jesus Christ that theworld must come to an end.
The signs of when this musthappen are given by Matthew,
Mark, and Luke.
The prophets also predicted manythings about it.
(16:34):
Our Redeemer Jesus Christ saidthat before the end of the world
all things must come to passthat had been written by the
prophets.
The prophets wrote in variousways.
Isaiah is one most praised byJerome, Augustine, and by other
theologians.
They all say that Isaiah was notonly a prophet, but an
evangelist as well.
(16:55):
Isaiah goes into great detail indescribing future events and in
calling all people to our holyCatholic faith.
Most of the prophecies of HolyScripture have been fulfilled
already.
I am a most unworthy sinner, butI have cried out to the Lord for
grace and mercy, and they havecovered me completely.
(17:16):
I have found the sweetestconsolations since I made it my
whole purpose to enjoy hismarvelous present.
For the execution of the journeyto the Indies, I did not make
use of intelligence,mathematics, or maps.
It is simply the fulfillment ofwhat Isaiah had prophesied.
(17:38):
All this is what I desire towrite down for you in this book.
No one should fear to undertakeany task in the name of our
Savior if it is just and if theintention is purely for his holy
service.
The working out of all thingshas been assigned to each person
by our Lord, but it all happensaccording to his sovereign will,
(17:59):
even though he gives advice.
He lacks nothing that it is inthe power of men to give him.
Oh, what a gracious Lord whodesires that people should
perform for him those thingswhich he holds himself
responsible.
Day and night, moment by moment, everyone should express to him
their most devoted gratitude.
(18:20):
I said that some of theprophecies remained yet to be
fulfilled.
These are great and wonderfulthings for the earth, and the
signs are that the Lord ishastening the end.
The fact that the gospel muststill be preached to so many
lands in such a short time, thisis what convinces me.
(18:41):
If nothing else, folks, youought to see the very consistent
desire of Columbus to do God'swill, to follow his Savior,
Jesus Christ, who is also mySavior, Jesus Christ.
And if you claim Christ as yourSavior, that ought to be our
goal each day.
He wasn't perfect.
I'm the farthest thing fromperfect.
(19:05):
And you're not perfect either,folks.
I hate to break it to you.
But God, in his mercy and grace, has given us eternity with him
because of his son.
And we ought to be gratefulabove all else for that and to
(19:25):
strive to do his will every day.
If you get a check chance, ifyou would check out Countryside,
I would appreciate it.
If you enjoy it, leave a review.
If you feel like you can donatethree or four or five bucks each
month to the podcast, you can dothat on the Buzz Sprout website.
I would appreciate that.
I think that's it.
(19:46):
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy
kingdom come, thy will be doneon earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our dailybread, and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive thosewho trespass against us and lead
us not to temptation, butdeliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, thepower, and the glory forever and
ever.
unknown (20:03):
Amen.
SPEAKER_00 (20:04):
God bless y'all.
God bless your families.
God bless your marriages.
God bless America.
God bless your nation, whereveryou are around the world.
Listen, folks, we'll talk to youall again real soon.
Looking forward to it.
