(02:32):
We pray Amen.
Have you made time for God andJesus Christ today?
If you claim that they're yourtop priority, do you act like it
At the end of the day, at theend of each day?
Would there be enough evidenceif someone looked at your life
from the outside in to convictyou of being a christian goes
(02:52):
back to the old marine corpsrecruiting poster that I've
talked about before.
You know, if there was somebodyaccused you of being a marine,
would there be enough evidenceto convict you?
And if you're married, ifsomebody accused you of being a
godly, loving spouse whofollowed scripture, would there
be enough evidence at the end ofeach day to convict you?
There's two thoughts.
(03:19):
One I've had for a while, kindof bouncing around, one I just
saw recently on social media.
The first is whatever our crossis each day, folks, we have a
responsibility to pick it up andcarry it and follow Jesus
Christ.
And that's hard.
(03:40):
And our cross may not be oftenis not what somebody else's
cross is, and theirs is not ours, but it would be a really good
idea, a practice in humility, tomake sure that we don't look at
(04:01):
somebody else's life and assumethat they have it easy just
because they don't have ourproblems.
And the second thing is therewas a post from a lady that I
follow online that talks a lotabout marriage and relationships
, and she made the comment in aroundabout way that what really
(04:30):
pleases men and I think this isreally true for both men and
women is actions and attitudeand, in particular, what actions
and attitude are important toour spouse and not to us, right?
So, for example, you can go out, you can work out as hard as
(04:51):
you want, as long as you want, and have the best body in the
entire world, right?
But if that's not important toyour spouse, it's not going to
make any difference If you don'tshow them affection and
attention, right?
Like like another marriageaccount was talking about phones
and tvs, if you're, if you'renot, touching your spouse more
(05:13):
often and more excitedly thanyou touch your tv remote or your
phone, you're gonna you'regoing to have problems.
And if we're not loving ourspouse in the way that's loving
to them, we're going to haveproblems, right?
The marriage scripture for todayis 1 Corinthians 7, verses 3
(05:36):
through 6.
The husband should meet hiswife's sexual needs and the wife
should do the same for herhusband.
The wife doesn't have authorityover her own body, but the
husband does.
Likewise, the husband doesn'thave authority over his own body
, but the wife does.
Don't refuse to meet eachother's needs.
Unless you both agree for ashort period of time to devote
(05:58):
yourselves to prayer.
Then come back together againso that Satan might not tempt
you because of your lack ofself-control.
I'm saying this to give youpermission, it's not a command.
And that verse six I alwaysthrow in there because the
feminism, leftism that's kind ofcrept into the church, reads
that wrong.
When you look back atcommentaries before we started
(06:20):
to have so much problem withleftism, feminism, you'll see
what he's talking about.
There is he's saying look, youdon't have to agree for short
periods of time to abstain.
You can if you both agree to it, but you don't have to.
The Bible verses, the Bibleverses For today.
(06:42):
We're going to start with 2Timothy 1, or chapter 1, verses
1-18.
This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be
an apostle of Christ Jesus.
I've been sent out to tellothers about the life he has
promised through faith in JesusChrist.
I am writing to Timothy, mydear son.
(07:05):
May God, the Father, and ChristJesus, our Lord, give you grace
, mercy and peace.
Timothy, I thank God for you.
The God I serve with a clearconscience, just as my ancestors
did.
Night and day, I constantlyremember you in my prayers.
I long to see you again, for Iremember your tears as we parted
(07:25):
, and I will be filled with joywhen we are together again.
I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that
first filled your grandmother, lois, and your mother, eunice,
and I know that same faithcontinues strong in you.
This is why I remind you to faninto flames the spiritual gift
(07:46):
God gave you when I laid myhands on you, for God has not
given us a spirit of fear andtimidity, but of power, love and
self-discipline.
So never be ashamed to tellothers about our Lord, and don't
be ashamed of me either, eventhough I'm in prison for Him.
With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for
(08:08):
the sake of the good news, forGod saved us and called us to
live a holy life.
He did this not because wedeserved it, but because that
was his plan from the beginningof time to show us his grace
through Christ Jesus.
And now he has made all of thisplain to us by the appearing of
(08:30):
Christ Jesus, our Savior.
He broke the power of death andilluminated the way to life and
immortality through the goodnews.
And God chose me to be apreacher, an apostle and a
teacher of this good news.
That is why I am suffering herein prison, but I am not ashamed
(08:51):
of it, for I know the one inwhom I trust and I am sure that
he is able to guard what I haveentrusted to him until the day
of his return.
Hold on to the pattern ofwholesome teaching you learned
from me, a pattern shaped by thefaith and love that you have in
Christ Jesus.
Through the power of the HolySpirit who lives within us,
(09:12):
carefully guard the precioustruth that has been entrusted to
you.
As you know, everyone from theprovince of Asia has deserted me
, even phagolus and hermogenes.
May the Lord show specialkindness to Onesiphorus and his
(09:34):
family, because he often visitedand encouraged me.
He was never ashamed of mebecause I was in chains.
When he came to Rome hesearched everywhere until he
found me.
May the Lord show him specialkindness on the day of Christ's
return and you know very wellhow helpful he was in Ephesus,
psalm 90, verse 1, through 91,verse 16.
(09:58):
Lord, through all thegenerations you have been our
home, before the mountains wereborn, before you gave birth to
the earth and the world.
From beginning to end you wereGod.
You turn people back to dust, saying Return to dust, you
mortals.
For you, a thousand years areas a passing day, as brief as a
(10:23):
few night hours.
You sweep people away likedreams that disappear.
They are like grass thatsprings up in the morning.
In the morning it blooms andflourishes, but by evening it is
dry and withered.
We wither beneath your anger.
We are overwhelmed by your fury.
You spread out our sins beforeyou, our secret sins, and you
(10:45):
see them all.
We live our lives beneath yourwrath, ending our years with a
groan.
You spread out our sins beforeyou, our secret sins, and you
see them all.
We live our lives beneath yourwrath, ending our years with a
groan.
Seventy years are given to us,some even live to eighty, but
even the best years are filledwith pain and trouble.
Soon they disappear and we flyaway.
Who can comprehend the power ofyour anger?
Your wrath is as awesome as thefear you deserve.
(11:08):
Teach us to realize the brevityof life so that we may grow in
wisdom.
O Lord, come back to us.
How long will you delay?
Take pity on your servants.
Satisfy us each morning withyour unfailing love, so that we
may sing for joy to the end ofour lives.
Give us gladness in proportionto our former misery.
(11:29):
Replace the evil years withgood.
Let us, your servants, see youwork again, let our children see
your glory, and may the Lord, our God, show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our effortssuccessful.
(11:50):
Those who live in the shelter ofthe Most High will find rest in
the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lordhe alone is my refuge, my place
of safety.
He is my God and I trust Him,for he will rescue you from
every trap and protect you fromdeadly disease.
He will cover you with Hisfeathers, he will shelter you
with his wings.
His faithful promises are yourarmor and protection.
(12:12):
Do not be afraid of the terrorsof the night, nor the arrow
that flies in the day, nor thedread disease that stalks in
darkness, nor the disaster thatstrikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at yourside, though ten thousand are
dying around you, these evilswill not touch you.
Just open your eyes and see howthe wicked are punished.
(12:34):
If you make the Lord yourrefuge, if you make the Most
High your shelter, no evil willconquer you, no plague will come
near your home, for he willorder his angels to protect you
wherever you go.
They will hold you up withtheir hands, so you won't even
hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions andcobras.
(12:55):
You will crush fierce lions andserpents under your feet.
The Lord says I will rescuethose who love me.
I will protect those who trustin my name.
When they call on me, I willanswer.
I will be with them in trouble.
I will protect those who trustin my name.
When they call on me, I willanswer.
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a longlife and give them my salvation.
(13:16):
Proverbs 26, verses 1 and 2.
Honor is no more associatedwith fools than snow with summer
or rain with harvest, like afluttering sparrow or a darting
swallow.
Lord, help us to love you, helpus to trust in your name.
(13:37):
Help us to call on you aloneand answer us in our trouble.
Rescue us.
The verse here 2 Timothy 1,verse 5,.
I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that
filled your grandmother, lois, and your mother, eunice, and I
know the same faith continuesstrong in you.
(13:58):
Folks, there's a lot of peopleout there that need to hear this
today Fathers and mothers ingeneral how much effect we have
on our kids, how much we canshape their faith and their
lives, and also a lot of mothersthat have bought into this
feminist lie over the lastseveral decades.
I wish I had the quote fromMother Teresa in front of me.
(14:23):
It's something along the linesof if you really want to make
the world a better place, gohome and love your family, love
your husband, first Raise yourchildren, and there's no way to
replace you as a wife and amother, and the influence that
you have there and the womenthat do that are a phenomenal
(14:43):
blessing to their husbands, their children and our nation.
Medal of Honor for today isRandolph Carter Berkeley, major,

Major Berkeley was eminent andconspicuous in command of his
battalion, was in the fightingof both days and exhibited
courage and skill in leading hismen through action.

rifle fire down Cinco de Mayoand parallel streets account for
the small percentage of thelosses of Marines under his
command Accredited to WashingtonDC not awarded posthumously.

Arlington, virginia.
Randolph Carter Berkley Justanother name, folks, we need to
remember more than our pop starsor athletes and their
statistics or song lyrics.
(16:15):
Two quotes today.
First is from John Adamsspeaking at the Continental
Congress to the delegates of the13 colonies, july 1st 1776.
Before God, I believe the hourhas come.
My judgment approves thismeasure and my whole heart is in
it, all that I have and allthat I am and all that I hope in
(16:37):
this life.
I am now ready here to stakeupon it and I leave off as I
began that live or die, surviveor perish.
I am for the declaration, it ismy living sentiment and, by the
blessing of God, it shall be mydying sentiment.
Independence now andindependence forever.
Live or die, we belong to JesusChrist.
(17:01):
Folks, those of us who chooseto put our faith in him.
Thank God for that.
Help us to overcome ourunbelief, father, and the
sentiment there has to be thesame today for more and more of
us folks, as we look at thepeople inside the United States
(17:22):
that support the whole bucket ofisms leftism, socialism,
communism, nazism, fascism andIslam.
It's hard not to see the hourdrawing near.
It's hard not to see the hourdrawing near.
We're going to have to claimliberty, make a stand for
(17:44):
liberty in our nation, and it'sgoing to go against those people
.
The second quote, folks, is onethat I probably need to read
more often, and it's by WilliamBradford, writing an account of
the Reverend John Robinson.
In his farewell address to thepilgrims as they left, he
(18:07):
charged us before God and hisblessed angels to follow him no
further than he followed Christ, and if God should reveal
anything to us by any otherinstrument of his, to be ready
to receive it.
As ever we were to receive anytruth by his ministry, for he
was very confident the Lord hadmore truth and light yet to
break forth out of his holy work, for saith he, it is not
(18:31):
possible that the Christianworld should come so lately out
of such thick anti-Christiandarkness and that full
perfection of knowledge shouldbreak forth at once.
There's two things about thisquote, folks, that are very
powerful.
One is the reminder that atthis point Christians in Europe
(18:54):
and Britain had just beenfighting for freedom, not only
from persecution by the state, but persecution by the church
the Roman Catholic Church, anglican Church for wanting to
follow Jesus Christ andScripture, as opposed to church
doctrine.
Opposed to church doctrine.
That's just the facts, folks.
(19:16):
Whether you like that or not, whether you're Roman Catholic or
Anglican or not, that is whathappened and that is what these
pilgrims were fleeing from wasnot only persecution by the
state, but persecution by thechurch, which is just
mind-boggling that anybody couldclaim to follow Christ and
(19:36):
support the atrocities that werecommitted.
The second part of this quotethat's so important is anybody
that you're listening to.
Any person, whether it's just acelebrity or an athlete or an
entertainer or a priest or apastor or a cardinal or a bishop
(19:57):
or a superintendent or a pope,or a church denomination,
whether it's Roman Catholic orProtestant or Orthodox, of any
type.
We should only follow them aslong as they're following Christ
.
As long as they're followingChrist and that's true for me
too.
Here, folks, anything I say,any comment that you see that
(20:21):
you like or you appreciate oryou think is right.
It's why it's so important toread Scripture every day.
We should only follow anyone, any political party Republican,
democrat, independent,non-denominational Republican,
democrat, independent,non-denominational any
(20:43):
institution, any party, anyperson.
We should only follow them aslong as they follow Christ and
no further, not one step pastwhere they're following Christ.
