We explore the growing disconnect between people as technology, particularly AI companions, replaces genuine human relationships, revealing a deeper problem of misplaced priorities. This episode examines how our time allocation reflects our true values toward God, our spouses, and our nation.

• Studies show 19% of US adults have used AI to simulate romantic partners with 21% preferring AI to real human interaction
• Technology isn't the problem - we've been choosing distractions over real connections for decades
• Marriage requires treating your spouse as "one out of seven billion treasure" worthy of your time and attention
• Scripture readings emphasize endurance, faithfulness and flourishing when rooted in God
• Medal of Honor recipient Charles Joseph Berry's sacrifice contrasts with modern attitudes of entitlement
• Historical quotes from Admiral Porter and President Hoover highlight Christianity's essential role in American civilization
• Jesus Christ remains our only hope for salvation and eternal life

If you have time and are interested in family-friendly fantasy, I would humbly recommend Countryside. There are two books in the series - e-book, hardback, paper book - and if you enjoy it, please leave a review somewhere.

part of the day you're in.
Sure do appreciate y'alljoining me, giving me a little
bit of your time and attention,a little piece of your day.

(00:21):
I will try and use it wisely.
Hopefully it'll give us allsome tools for our toolbox, as
we used to say in the MarineCorps, and draw us all a little
bit closer to God and JesusChrist as individuals and as a
nation.
Father, thank you for today.
Thank you for you, father, andyour Son, jesus Christ and your

(00:41):
Holy Spirit.
Thank you for your love andyour mercy, your grace and your
forgiveness of sins, for allyour many blessings, father, the
ones we admit and the ones wedon't.
Thank you for those listeningto the podcast.
Be with them, guide them, blessthem.

(01:04):
Protect us from evil of anykind.
Father, heal hearts that arebroken.
Break the addictions of thosewho are addicted.
Help us to store up forourselves treasures in heaven,
father, not here on earth.
Help us to do your will eachday.

(01:26):
Above all else, be with thosewho are hurting due to illness
or injury.
Bring them your comfort.
Give us patience, father.

(01:52):
Help us to remember that yourways are not our ways.
Help us to trust you each daycompletely, even when we don't
understand what's going on, whenwe don't understand the pain in

(02:15):
our own lives or in the world.
Help us to trust you, god.
My word's here, father, pleaseand bring us all home to you and
to your Son, jesus Christ, inyour timing.
In your Son's name, we pray, amen.

(02:39):
Have you made time for God andJesus Christ today?
Have you made time to read yourBible?
Have you made time to pray?
Have you made time to sit andlisten to God?
And if not, what are youspending your time on?

(03:01):
What are you spending your timeon?
What are you giving time toover God and Jesus Christ, and
are you okay with that?
And if you're married, doesyour spouse know it?

(03:24):
Do you treat them like a oneout of seven billion treasure?
Because that's what they are,folks.
You have one spouse.
There's only one relationshipin all of the world that you can
draw that close to somebody.
That's one of the amazingthings, folks is.

(03:45):
There's only one person that wecan draw that close to somebody
.
That's one of the amazingthings, folks is.
There's only one person that wecan draw that close to, and yet
for so many of us, we wouldrather give our time and energy
and effort to workouts, tv,sports, social media or phones.

(04:09):
There's a really, actually goodarticle and I guess I'll go
ahead and throw this in nowDidn't really intend to, but I
will Out of the epic times andthey're talking about the
growing concern, growing problemwith AI companions.

(04:29):
And here's the article.
By got to flip through thepaper here.
The article is by Jacob Bergand Sam Dorman.
Ai-induced delusions aredriving some users to psych
wards and suicide.
So it's actually talking aboutthe fact that some of these

(04:52):
people are being driven so crazyby AI chatbots that they're
being put into medical psychwards right, the few that we
have left remaining and at leastas the state-run mental
institutes.

(05:14):
But here's the.
Let me find those statistics.
Yeah, roughly 19% of US adultsreported using an AI system to
simulate a romantic partner, according to a 2025 study by BYU
Wheatley Institute.
Within that group, 21 said thatthey prepared AI communication
to engaging with real persons.

(05:36):
Another one by late 2024,nearly 40% of Americans aged 18
to 64 were using generative AI,23% used the technology at work
at least once a week and 9%reported using it daily.
There was another one in heresomewhere talking about the

(06:01):
percentage of kids, I think, butI can't find it.
The point is that even some ofthese CEOs there's a couple
quoted in this article goodarticle again, by the way, epic
Times and the authors One moretime.

(06:23):
Maybe you think it's easy toflip through a paper, so you
need to do it quickly.
Uh, jacob berg and sam dorman.
Title again as ai inducedillusions are driving some users
to psych wards suicide, youknow.
And we want to point fingers atthis technology.
We want to say, oh, this aistuff it's so bad for

(06:46):
relationships and it is.
But the problem is it's not theai, it's us.
We have been doing this moreand more for decades.
We plop down in front of a tvand we watch sports for hours on
end.
We scroll our phone for hoursum, watch endless youtube or
tiktok or instagram, real videos, whatever right.

(07:09):
So the?
The problem is that we've beenor we go out and we work out for
two or three hours a day.
The problem is we have beenignoring our spouses, ignoring
our kids, ignoring those closestto us, for a long time.
Folks.
Ai might make it a littleeasier to do, but the problem is

(07:31):
that we've been doing whateverwe can to distract ourselves
from real people for a long timenow, and the AI is just kind of
illustrating the point a littlebit more.
Bring it home a little more.

(08:00):
So, before you go and point yourfingers at your spouse or your
spouse's parents or your parentsor whatever, you really need to
take a long hard, look in themirror and see how much of your
time you're giving to somethingelse.
And this is also even moreimportant, more true with our
faith, dare try and point ourfingers at God.
Right, we really need to lookat ourselves and how much time
we're giving to God versus allthese other things.
So the marriage verse for todayis Ephesians, chapter 5, verses

(08:23):
22 through 33.
Wives be subject to yourhusbands as to the Lord, for the
husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of
the church, his body, and ishimself its Savior.
Just as the church is subjectto Christ, so also wives ought
to be in everything to theirhusbands.
Husbands, love your wives, justas Christ loved the church and

(08:45):
gave himself up for her in orderto make her holy by cleansing
her with the washing of water bythe word, so as to present the
church to himself in splendorwithout a spot or wrinkle or
anything of the kind, so thatshe may be holy and without
blemish.
In the same way, husbandsshould love their wives as their
own bodies.

(09:05):
He who loves his wife loveshimself, for no one ever hates
his own flesh, but he nourishesand tenderly cares for it, just
as Christ does for the church, because we are members of his
body.
For this reason, a man willleave his father and mother and
be joined to his wife, and thetwo will become one flesh.
This is a great mystery, but Iam speaking about Christ and the

(09:28):
church.
Each of you, however, shouldlove his wife as himself, and a
wife should respect her husband.
Bible verses for today.
I'm going to start with 2,timothy 2, verse 1 through 21.
Timothy, my dear son, be strongfor the grace that God gives

(09:48):
you in Christ Jesus.
You have heard me teach thingsthat have been confirmed by many
reliable witnesses.
Now teach these truths to othertrustworthy people who will be
able to pass them on to others.
Endure suffering along with meas a good soldier of Jesus
Christ.
Soldiers don't get tied up inthe affairs of civilian life,

(10:09):
for then they cannot please theofficer who enlisted them.
And athletes cannot win theprize unless they follow the
rules, and hard-working farmersshould be the first to enjoy the
fruit of their labor.
Think about what I am saying.
The Lord will help youunderstand all these things.
Always remember that ChristJesus, all these things, always

(10:32):
remember that Christ Jesus, adescendant of King David, was
raised from the dead.
This is the good news I preach, and because I preach this good
news, I am suffering and havebeen chained like a criminal.
But the word of God cannot bechained, so I am willing to
endure anything if it will bringsalvation and eternal glory in
Christ Jesus.
This is a trustworthy saying.

(10:54):
He remains faithful, for hecannot deny who he is.
Remind everyone about thesethings and command them, in
God's presence, to stop fightingover words.

(11:15):
Such arguments are useless andthey can ruin those who hear
them.
Work hard so you can presentyourself to God and receive his
approval.
Be a good worker, one who doesnot need to be ashamed and who
correctly explains the word oftruth.
Avoid worthless, foolish talkthat only leads to more godless

(11:35):
behavior.
This kind of talk spreads likecancer, as in the case of
Hymenaeus and Philetus.
They have left the path oftruth, claiming that the
resurrection of the dead hasalready occurred.
In this way, they have turnedsome people away from the faith,
but God's truth stands firmlike a foundation stone with

(11:59):
this inscription the Lord knowsthose who are his, and all who
belong to the Lord must turnaway from evil.
In a wealthy home, some utensilsare made of gold and silver and
some are made of wood and clay.
The expensive utensils are usedfor special occasions and the
cheap ones are for everyday use.

(12:19):
If you keep yourself pure, youwill be a special utensil for
honorable use.
Your life will be clean and youwill be ready for the Master to
use you for every good work.
Psalm 92.1, verse 93.5.
It is good to give thanks to theLord, to sing praises to the

(12:39):
Most High.
It is good to proclaim yourunfailing love in the morning,
your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by a ten-stringed
instrument, a harp, and a melodyof a lyre.
You thrill me, lord, with allyou have done for me.
I sing for joy because of whatyou have done, o Lord.
What great works you do and howdeep are your thoughts.

(13:02):
Only a simpleton would not knowand only a fool would not
understand this.
Though the wicked sprout, likeweeds and evildoers, flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
But you, o Lord, will beexalted forever.
Your enemies, lord, will surelyperish.
All evildoers will be scattered, but you have made me as strong

(13:25):
as a wild ox.
You have anointed me with thefinest of wool.
As a wild ox, you have anointedme with the finest of wool.
My eyes have seen the downfallof my enemies.
My ears have heard the defeatof my wicked opponents.
But the godly will flourishlike palm trees and grow strong
like the cedars of Lebanon, forthey are transplanted to the
Lord's own house.

(13:45):
They flourish in the courts ofour God.
Even in old age, they willstill produce fruit.
They will remain vital andgreen.
They will declare the Lord isjust, he is my rock.
There is no evil in Him.
The Lord is King.
He is robed in majesty.
Indeed, the Lord is robed inmajesty and armed with strength.

(14:08):
The world stands firm andcannot be shaken.
Your throne, o Lord, has stoodfrom the time immemorial.
You yourself are from theeverlasting past.
The floods have risen up, oLord.
The floods have roared likethunder.
The floods have lifted theirpounding waves, but mightier

(14:29):
than the violent raging of theseas mightier than the breakers.
On Proverbs 26, verses 3-5.
26, verses 3 through 5.
Guide a horse with a whip, adonkey with a bridle and a fool

(14:52):
with a rod to his back.
Don't answer the foolisharguments of fools or you will
become as foolish as they are.
Be sure to answer the foolisharguments of fools or they will
become wise in their ownestimations.
That last part there inProverbs you have to think about
that for a minute, right?
There's sometimes where youwant to answer a fool because

(15:14):
otherwise they think they'rejust too smart, and then there's
other times where you just haveto walk away.
It doesn't do any good talkingto a fool anymore, right?
I think all I'll leave you withfrom the scripture today is
this Jesus Christ is the Son ofGod.

(15:35):
He died for my sins, the ones Ihave committed, the ones I am
committing, the ones I willcommit, all of them and yours.
God raised him from the dead.
He, jesus Christ, is my Lordand Savior.

(16:01):
He is my only hope forsalvation and eternal life, and
he is your only hope forsalvation and eternal life too.
Medal of Honor for today CharlesJoseph Berry, corporal.
World War II, 1st Battalion,26th Marine, 5th Marine Division

(16:25):
, us Marine Corps, march 3, 1945, iwo Jima, volcano Islands,
volcano Islands.
For conspicuous gallantry andintrepidity at the risk of his
life, above and beyond the callof duty as a member of a machine
gun crew serving with the 1stBattalion, 26th Marines, 5th
Marine Division, in actionagainst the enemy Japanese

(16:46):
forces during the seizure of IwoJima and the Volcano Islands on
3 March 1945.
On 3 March 1945.
Stationed in the front lines, corporal Berry manned his weapon
with alert readiness as hemaintained a constant vigil with
other members of his gun crewduring the hazardous night hours
when infiltrating Japanesesoldiers launched a surprise

(17:07):
attack.
Shortly after midnight, in anattempt to overrun his position,
he engaged in a pitched handgrenade duel, returning the
dangerous weapons with promptand deadly accuracy until an
enemy grenade landed in thefoxhole.
Determined to save his comrades, he unhesitatingly chose to
sacrifice himself andimmediately dived on the deadly

(17:28):
missile, absorbing theshattering violence of the
exploding charge in his own bodyand protecting the others from
serious injury.
Stout-hearted and indomitable, corporal Berry fearlessly gilded
his own life that his fellowMarines might carry on the
relentless battle against aruthless enemy.

(17:48):
And his superb valor andunfaltering devotion to duty in
the face of certain deathreflect the highest credit upon
himself and upon the US NavalService.
He gallantly gave his life forhis country, 1923 Lorain, lorain

(18:23):
County, ohio.
Died March 3rd 1945, iwo Jima,volcano Islands.
Buried Elmwood Cemetery 5248TAC 1, lorain, ohio.
Location of metal.
Lorain public library system.
Charles Joseph Berry, I can'teven begin to tell you how
little sympathy I have withpeople today who despise America
, who kneel for the flag, whoturn their backs on the national

(18:48):
anthem, who talk about beingoppressed and burdened, whether
it's women with feminism or theleft in general, the immigrants
who demand that we, the illegals, and the mass immigrants who
demand that we give them therights, representation and

(19:09):
resources of our fellow citizens, of our fellow citizens.
And perhaps the greatestdisdain should be reserved for
those of us on the conservativeside who aren't willing to give
absolutely everything we havefor God and our country.

(19:29):
We certainly should rememberthe name of Charles Joseph
joseph berry and his sacrificeon iwo jima, jumping on a hand
grenade, more than we rememberany pop singer recently engaged,
or her song lyrics, or an nflathlete or an nba star and

(19:52):
statistics or any other sport.
Two quotes for today DavidDixon Porter, admiral in the US
Navy, superintendent of the USNaval Academy at Annapolis.
When one sees how much has beendone for the world by the

(20:20):
disciples of Christ and thoseprofessing the Christian
religion, he must be astonishedto find anyone who hesitates to
believe in the divine origin ofJesus and the wonderful works he
performed, all of which are sobeautifully portrayed by the
author of the work underconsideration.
And no man or woman of realintelligence would hesitate to
believe that it is only throughChrist that sinners can be saved
, unless their vanity is sogreat that they are capable of

(20:42):
saving themselves without anintermediary.
A lot there, folks, I knowthat's one of the aspects of
history that has strengthened myfaith is when you look back on

(21:03):
those times and you see how muchthose who are disciples of
Christ and who profess theChristian religion have done for
others, along with how manytimes God has saved us as a
nation when we really shouldhave lost, it's hard to believe
that there's anyone out there ofreal intelligence who would

(21:23):
hesitate to believe in thedivine origin of Jesus, except
out of vanity and arrogance andthe belief that they don't need
Jesus Christ to save them.
It's also astounding that thosethere are any out there who
claim to follow Christ thatthink that Christ isn't enough,

(21:45):
that they also have to belong toa certain denomination.
You've got to have just alittle extra.
You know, the son of God isn'tenough, you've got to have a
little extra.
It's just phenomenal.
Herbert Hoover, 31st Presidentof the United States.
The whole inspiration of ourcivilization springs from the

(22:06):
teachings of Christ and thelessons of the prophets.
To read the Bible for thesefundamentals is a necessity of
American life.
You look at this quote, folks.
It's a simple quote, a shortquote, two sentences, but it
lays out the fundamental issuein America today.
We can't have the American life, we can't have our republic and

(22:29):
liberty without a people whofollow the teachings of Christ
and pay attention to the lessonsof the prophets from the Bible.
If you really want to be anAmerican, whether you believe in
Jesus Christ as the Son of Godor not and I cannot recommend

(22:51):
anything more to you, folks thatis the most important decision
you will make in your entirelife.
But even if you decide to goagainst that, there's no way to
truly love America, to be anAmerican, to support liberty and
freedom without reading theBible and freedom without

(23:20):
reading the bible.
It's just such a simplestatement by hoover, whether you
liked a man or not, folks, whether you think he was a great
president or not, it doesn'tmatter.
The statement's still true.
If you have time and you'reinterested in a middle grade
fantasy, kind of family friendly, I would humbly recommend
Countryside.

(23:41):
There's two books in the seriese-book, hardback, paper book
and, if you enjoy it, if you'dleave a review somewhere, I
would appreciate that very much.
God bless y'all.
God bless your families.
God bless your marriages.
God bless y'all.
God bless your families.
God bless your marriages.
God bless America.
God bless your nation, whereveryou are around the world.

(24:02):
Listen, folks.
We'll talk to y'all again realsoon, looking forward to it.
