(00:23):
Thank you.
Very grateful for that.
For those of y'all who continueto pray for me and for the
podcast, thank you.
Very, very grateful for yourprayers.
Need them and want them.
Father, thank you for today.
Thank you for you, Father, andyour son, Jesus Christ, and your
Holy Spirit.
(00:44):
Thank you for your faith in useven when we lose faith and you
or feel like it.
Help us to overcome ourunbelief.
We do believe.
Draw us close to you, Father.
Be near the brokenhearted.
Be with those listening today, wherever they are around the
(01:05):
world, help them to feel yourpeace and your comfort.
To know your love, to know thatthey're cared about.
How much you love them, how muchthey mean to you.
Guide us towards you, Father.
Bring us home to you in yourtiming.
Be with our leaders.
(01:25):
In the pulpit and in the state, comfort them.
Bless them.
Be with their families.
Keep them safe.
Help them to rule in fear ofyou.
Be with the least of these,Father.
The widow and the orphan, thepoor and the needy.
Be with those who are beingpersecuted around the world for
(01:47):
the sake of the name of your sonJesus Christ.
Help us to follow the commandsof your Son.
To love you with our wholeheart, mind, soul, and strength.
And to love our neighbors asourselves.
Help us to be grateful, Father, for all the blessings you
bestowed upon us.
Help us to also use the talentsthat you've given us to the
(02:10):
fullest extent to the utmost.
Be with our leaders again,Father, here in America and
around the world in countrieswhere people are listening to
them.
Be with our educators, those whoare teaching our children,
whether they're mothers at homeor teachers in public or private
(02:32):
school or somewhere else.
Give them wisdom and courage anda strong faith.
Help us to get our priorities inthe right order, Father.
Please guide my words here.
In your son's name we pray.
Amen.
Have you made time for Godtoday, folks?
And if you're married, have youmade time for your spouse?
(02:56):
And if you haven't, what's yourexcuse?
If you really looked at yourtime, how are you spending it?
Because that that really tellseverybody what your priorities
are, folks.
It ought to tell you yourselfwhat your priorities are.
It doesn't matter either howwhat kind of good excuse I have,
(03:18):
folks.
If I sit down and watch afootball game for three hours,
or scroll social media for anhour and a half, or go run for
two hours.
Not that I would do that, butbut that's one of the possible.
You pick your poison, right?
(03:38):
And then I have the gall toclaim, well, excuse me, I just
didn't have time for God todayand Jesus Christ.
I didn't have time for myspouse, right?
One of the ways that I havefound that helps me over the
years, folks, maybe it'll helpyou.
And if it doesn't, that's fine.
(04:00):
It's just a thought.
I have to front load the thingsin my day that are really
important.
Because if I don't do them atthe very beginning of the day,
often, as the day goes on, I getbetter and better at making
excuses.
And that's that's a good babystep, folks.
But really the point that I needto get to is like uh Paul, I
(04:23):
think, telling us to praycontinuously.
Serving God and serving ourspouse needs to be something
that we do throughout the day.
So that the first, you know, like front loading, that front
loading ought to occur atmultiple points throughout the
day.
Like when you get some sparetime, folks, our spare time
(04:43):
belongs to God first.
And then our spare time, ifwe're going to get married, then
our spare time belongs to ourspouse.
And if we don't want to give ourspare time to our spouse, then
we shouldn't have gotten marriedin the first place.
Right?
So the marriage verses for todaycome out of 1 Timothy 2,
(05:06):
starting with verse 11.
Well, let's start actually.
Start with verse 8.
Therefore I want the meneverywhere to pray, lifting up
holy hands without anger ordisputing.
I also want the women to dressmodestly, with decency and
propriety, adorning themselvesnot with elaborate hairstyles or
(05:28):
gold or pearls or expensiveclothes, but with good deeds,
appropriate for women whoprofess to worship God.
A woman should learn inquietness and full submission.
I do not permit a woman to teachor to assume authority over a
man, she must be quiet.
For Adam was formed first, thenEve.
And Adam was not the onedeceived, it was the woman who
(05:49):
was deceived and became asinner.
But women will be saved throughchildbearing if they continue in
faith, love, and holiness withpropriety.
Bible verses today we're goingto start with Hebrews chapter
four, verses one throughsixteen.
God's promise of entering hisrest still stands, so we ought
(06:12):
to tremble with fear that someof you might fail to experience
it.
For this good news that God hasprepared this rest has been
announced to us just as it wasto them.
But it did them no good becausethey didn't share the faith of
those who listened to God.
For only we who believe canenter his rest.
As for the others, God said, Inmy anger I took an oath, they
(06:36):
will never enter my place ofrest.
Even though this rest has beenready since he made the world,
we know it is ready because ofthe place in the scriptures
where it mentions the seventhday.
On the seventh day God restedfrom all his work.
But in the other passage Godsaid, They will never enter my
place of rest.
(06:56):
So God's rest is there forpeople to enter.
But those who first heard thisgood news failed to enter
because they disobeyed God.
So God set another time forentering his rest, and that time
is today.
God announced this through Davidmuch later in the words already
quoted.
Today when you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts.
(07:18):
Now if Joshua had succeeded ingiving them the rest, God would
not have spoken about anotherday of rest still to come.
So there is a special rest stillwaiting for the people of God.
For all who have entered intoGod's rest have rested from
their labors, just as God didafter creating the world.
So let us do our best to enterthat rest.
(07:41):
But if we disobey God, as thepeople of Israel did, we will
fall.
For the word of God is alive andpowerful, it is sharper than the
sharpest two edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit,
between joint and marrow.
It exposes our innermostthoughts and desires.
Nothing in all creation ishidden from God.
(08:02):
Everything is naked and exposedbefore his eyes, and he is the
one to whom we are accountable.
So then, since we have a greathigh priest who has entered
heaven, Jesus, the Son of God,let us hold firmly to what we
believe.
This high priest of oursunderstands our weaknesses, for
he faced all of the sametestings we do, yet he did not
(08:24):
sin.
So let us come boldly to thethrone of our gracious God.
There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help
us when we need it most.
O Lord, what a variety of thingsyou have made.
(08:45):
In wisdom you have made themall, the earth is full of your
creatures.
Here is the ocean vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind,
both large and small.
See the ships sailing along, andLeviathan which you made to play
in the sea.
They all depend on you to givethem food as they need it.
(09:07):
When you supply it, they gatherit, you open your hand to feed
them, and they are richlysatisfied.
But if you turn away from themthey panic.
When you take away their breaththey die and turn again to dust.
When you give them your breath, life is created, and you renew
the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lordcontinue forever.
(09:29):
The Lord takes pleasure in allhe has made.
The earth trembles at hisglance, the mountains smoke at
his touch.
I will sing to the Lord as longas I live, I will praise my God
to my last breath.
May all my thoughts be pleasingto him, for I rejoice in the
Lord.
Let all sinners vanish from theface of the earth.
(09:49):
Let the wicked disappearforever.
Let all that I am praise theLord.
Praise the Lord.
Proverbs twenty six, versetwenty-seven.
If you set a trap for others, you will get caught in it
yourself.
If you roll a boulder down onothers, it will crush you
instead.
(10:11):
You go back to Hebrews chapterfour, verse seven.
Today when you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts.
I I think often, folks, I have Ihave in my life hardened my
heart in the sense that I hearsomething from God, from the
Holy Spirit, and I'm not realinterested in doing it.
(10:38):
Maybe, hopefully I'm getting alittle better the older I get.
So Medal of Honor today.
Charles James Biber, maybe.
Gunners mate, US Civil War, USSAgawam, U.S.
Navy, december twenty third, eighteen sixty-four, Fort
(10:59):
Fisher, North Carolina.
Biver served on board the USSAgawam as one of a volunteer
crew of a powder boat which wasexploded near Fort Fisher twenty
three, December, eighteen sixtyfour.
The powder boat towed in by thewilderness to prevent detection
(11:20):
by the enemy cast off and slowlysteamed to within three hundred
yards of the beach.
After fuses and fires had beenlent at a second anchor with a
short scope let go to assure theboat's tailing inshore.
The crew again boarded thewilderness and proceeded a
distance of twelve miles fromthe shore.
Less than two hours later theexplosion took place, and the
(11:43):
following day fires wereobserved still burning at the
forts.
Born March 22nd, 1837, Portland,Cumberland County, Maine, died
(12:05):
October 8, 1883, Revere,Massachusetts, very Woodlawn
Cemetery, Pilgrim's Rest, 152Tac 1, Tac SS, Everett,
Massachusetts.
Charles James Biber.
You know there had to be more tothat story.
Like these older citations don'tgive us quite as much detail,
(12:27):
but the powder boat.
And how was the fire lit, thefuses?
Was he the one that did it atthe end?
You know, was that like his handshaking to keep from blowing the
whole boat up with him?
Because it had to be a prettybig explosion if it burned the
(12:47):
forts, exploded the fires, werestill burning the next day.
Anyway, just another name, folks, that we need to remember.
A couple things here, just alittle cleanup.
Again, folks, if you don't havecopies, I highly recommend
copies of America's God andCountry Encyclopedia of Quotes
(13:08):
by William Federer, theFounder's Bible by the Wall
Builder Association, DavidBarton, and the Patriots Bible
edited by Dr.
Richard Lee.
Great gifts, great books to havein your own house, certainly
hard copies if you have themoney.
And they should be primarytextbooks in each classroom
(13:30):
across the country.
Also, a little something fromsocial media the last couple
days.
There's been some posts goingaround.
I guess Netanyahu from Israelmade the comment about, you
know, blessed are those whobless Israel, and cursed are
those who curse Israel.
And you can have the argumentabout whether that applies to
(13:52):
Israel today or not.
But the thing that's interestingto me is the number of people
who claim to follow Christ andare a lot more upset about the
idea of us having a relationshipwith Israel, which is our only
real ally in the Middle East, folks, because the Muslim
countries, just by default, youcan't really be an ally with
(14:15):
them because at the core they'reantichrist.
And the only democracy, really,in the Middle East, and a
country that has proven in timesof war to be our ally against
our enemies.
(14:36):
And yet we have so many problemsat home, folks, with the left,
with Islam.
I mean, we we have problems thatare existential threats to our
nation here internally to ourcountry.
It's just it's a little telling,I think, to see the number of
(14:57):
people that are reallyconcerned, if you throw some air
quotes around that, about theJews in Israel.
And it it sounds an awful lotlike some things, conversations
you would have heard in pro-Nazicircles in the 1920s and 30s in
(15:18):
Europe as a whole, includingBritain.
We have a lot of other things tobe far more concerned with,
folks, here in the UnitedStates, if being allied with
Israel is even a concern to you.
I want to go back and do alittle cleanup with Maryland.
(15:40):
In 1851, the Constitution of theState of Maryland, a declaration
of belief in the Christianreligion, and this is a
requirement for any office oftrust or prophet, uh, this oath
would be required.
A declaration in the belief inthe Christian religion, and if
the party shall profess to be aJew, the declaration shall be of
(16:01):
his belief in a future state ofrewards and punishments.
1864 Constitution, State ofMaryland, required all state
officers a declaration of beliefin the Christian religion or of
the existence of God and in afuture state of rewards and
punishments.
And you go back earlier, folks, the colony of Maryland, the
(16:24):
Toleration Act of 1649, noperson professing to believe in
Jesus Christ shall fromhenceforth be troubled or
molested on account of religion.
What does that show?
Well, that they didn't wantpeople who followed Christ to be
attacked or troubled or molestedlike they had been in Europe
under the Catholic Anglicanchurches because they didn't
(16:48):
belong to the quote unquoteright denomination.
Governors of Maryland, Colony ofMaryland, took an oath each year
by themselves or indirectly totrouble, molest, or
discountenance any personprofessing to believe in Jesus
Christ for or in respect ofreligion, and if any such were
so molested to protect theperson molested and punish the
(17:12):
offender, so that they couldn't,they they took this oath not to
trouble or molest ordiscountenance any person
professing to believe in JesusChrist.
And it's important to noticeagain there, folks, that no
other religion was applied here.
This didn't apply to Islam orHinduism or Buddhism or anything
else because this is a Christiannation.
(17:33):
We were founded as such.
All right.
If you are looking for afamily-friendly, middle grade
read, I would humbly recommendCountryside.
You can find it at eBAC,Paperback, Hardback, Amazon,
Barnes and Noble, pretty muchany bookstore year-round ought
to be able to order it.
(17:54):
And if you enjoy it, if youwould leave a review somewhere,
I would greatly appreciate that.
And if you're getting somethingout of the podcast, if you're
enjoying it, which I hope youare, there's uh a place on the
Buzz Sprout website where youcan leave a donation.
You can even make it a monthlydonation for just three bucks,
(18:15):
five bucks, whatever you feellike each month.
And I would be very grateful forthat as well.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy
kingdom come, thy will be doneon earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our dailybread, and forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive thosewho trespass against us, and
(18:35):
lead us not to temptation, butdeliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, thepower, and glory forever and
ever.
unknown (18:41):
Amen.
