Jettie Word is the executive director of The Borneo Project. Her organization brings international attention and support to community-led efforts to defend forests, sustainable livelihoods, and human rights. Protecting human rights and environmental integrity in Borneo is a critical component of the global movement for a just and peaceful world.

Inside this episode we cover so many important global environmental concerns like systemic corporate greed, palm oil, indigenous rights as well as local problems facing the people of Borneo. She highlights some of the major victories in helping these communities her organization has celebrated. We address sustainable tourism and how, if done right, can have a lasting impact on threatened ecosystems. We shine light on deforestation and land grabbing, who's to blame, and what we can all do to help. Why it's important to get local communities involved in protecting their natural resources from corruption and greed.

She has a great pulse on Melanesian culture, the problems indigenous groups are facing, and so much more.
