Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome to the Art of Healing podcast.
This is Dr Charlize and we aregoing to be covering some
information on balancing yourhormones naturally and how
energy alignment can help.
I'm so excited to be sharingthis presentation with you.
If you are joining me in thelive meeting, in your chat

(00:25):
you'll see a link that's goingto get you the handouts and then
a link that you can followalong.
If you are catching this afterthe live recording, you'll be on
the podcast so you can checkyour show notes for the
information needed, includingthe handouts, if you want to
have a look for yourself, aswell as some of the links, to
find out more about thisexciting program.

(00:53):
So, energy Alignment, thisupcoming program, and really
what my approach has beenworking with my patients in the
last couple of years, startedwith my own journey, and my own
journey was, I like to think ofit, crossing the bridge crossing

(01:20):
the bridge between Eastern andWestern healing modalities,
crossing bridges between subtleenergy and hard science,
crossing bridges between subtleenergy and hard science.
But as I began to study topicsoutside of medicine because I
have been in practice in medicalscience for several years I
could clearly see that therewere some links in relationships
between functional medicine, reiki, chakra work, other energy

(01:44):
medicine modalities.
I just really started to wonderif it was possible to take a
holistic approach and look atall of these, and is it possible
to learn how to approach thingslike hormonal health or chronic
pain using this naturalapproach and starting with your

(02:06):
energy?
Of course, it can be difficultbecause it's so hard to define
what is energy, what is that?
How is it?
But in going back and forth andthen working both on myself and
working with my patients, Ifound out that there really is a
way that you can approachworking with your body's

(02:27):
hormones, working with yourself, where you can take this
approach and you can do itnaturally.
And it's nice because you cando it gently as well.
So my story is that Idiscovered the practice of Reiki

(02:59):
a little bit after.
What that anxiety attack wasteaching me was that I had been
living with anxiety for manyyears, so much so that I
actually thought that's just howthe world operated.
I just thought that you juststayed in that state.
It helped you operate betterand that's how things were.
But it wasn't until I actuallyhad an anxiety attack.

(03:22):
I felt how crushing anddisabling that was that I had to
start really digging deep.
So digging deep for me wasmultiple things it was working
with my own doctor, working witha therapist, eventually
practicing yoga, and thenlearning the practice of Reiki,
and my full intention when Ifirst took my Reiki One course,

(03:44):
was just to work on and healmyself.
I was so excited to learn thishealing modality, something that
I could do.
I'd had a Reiki session and Iwas just pleased as could be
that it was something that Icould learn on my own and do,
and, working with myself overthe years I could start to sense

(04:05):
my own energy and feel myenergy change and, in particular
, how it was affecting how Ifelt.
And then later having somefunctional medicine tools which

(04:29):
helped a lot, having itconfirmed with numbers and, in
particular, learning after sometime that the anxiety that I had
learned to live with and evenkind of thrived with sometimes,
was in part driven by my adrenalglands, driven by my pituitary
gland, by my hypothalamus, driven by all of these glands
that were responding to theanxiety-driven thoughts that I
was having.
So that leads me to now.

(04:51):
When I work with myself, forinstance, and I'm filling my
energies off, I don't like wherethings going that I now realize
it's time to stop and look atwhat's going on with the thought
content, what's going on withhow I'm feeling, and then what's
happening with my body's energythat I perceive, and then my

(05:13):
subtle energy.
And then it gets even more funbecause sometimes, when I'm
working with my own patients, Ican actually speak to this with
them.
We can explore this, as youknow, when they have symptoms
they don't like or don't want tolive with.
Where is this coming from andwhy?

(05:36):
So now, when I work with mypatients, we look at two things.
One of the things that can bevery helpful is understanding
the physical location and thefunction of our endocrine glands
, the glands that producehormones.
So that's done pretty simply byjust kind of reviewing our

(06:02):
anatomy.
We've got tools that are reallyhelpful, like hormonal testing
that can be done from thecomfort of your home or done
with more advanced lab testing, and then also understanding our
energy body and what are thoughtof as the seven major chakras,
where they are and what kind offeelings and emotions are

(06:23):
related to those.
So this graph, side by side, puts both of them together, and
when I'm working with mypatients, we'll look at things
like the root chakra, which isour first, and it's associated
with our feelings of safety, feeling protected, feeling well
sheltered, how the adrenalglands function and how, if

(06:59):
we're not feeling that rootedsense of safeness, does that
disrupt how our adrenal glandsfunction or make them function
too much.
So that can get reallyinteresting.
We're looking at the thirdchakra, which is the solar
plexus chakra and where thepancreas lies, and that's a
major gland and, as you're aware, the pancreas is part of

(07:23):
maintaining sugar levels andproduces hormones that control
that, such as insulin andglucagon.
And the solar plexus chakra isassociated with feeling
empowered, clear thinking,feeling motivated, self-esteem
and how, if we don't feel that,or we're feeling disrupted, how

(07:44):
that feeling could somehow leadto the pancreas not working very
well and lead to developingblood sugars that are abnormal,
too low or too high, or even sohigh that you have diabetes.
The third eye chakra, which islocated in the head, correlates

(08:05):
to the pituitary gland, and thethird eye chakra is thought of
as being the place of perception, where our senses go and how we
perceive life, as well as ourability to sense and then even
some intuitive or psychicabilities, and that correlates

(08:28):
with the pituitary gland, whichis the master gland, the gland
that's going to coordinate howall the other glands in the body
work.
So really interesting when westart looking at that,
especially when we're trying tofigure out things like I'm tired
I don't know why.
Or I got on this thyroid pill,I'm taking it, I still feel

(08:50):
tired.
That's a common one.
I'm taking thyroid medicine, Istill feel tired and I don't
know why.
Or, for women, after having ahysterectomy, still don't feel
myself.
I'm taking these hormones, butI just don't feel as good as I
should.
So sometimes looking at it fromthis direction can be very
revealing in someone that'strying to figure out the next

(09:11):
steps.
One of my favorite quotations isfrom dr richard weber, who was
an internist and a metaphysicianand a coordinator.
Dr weber is gerber.
It's actually anatomically, each major chakra is associated

(09:32):
with a major nerve plexus and amajor endocrine gland.
So and we just reviewed thatthey seem to line up pretty well
.
And then bestselling authorCindy Dell shares with us that
chakras are subtle energy organsthat manage the flow of energy
related to all parts of ourlives.

(09:52):
They are personal power systems.
They are similar to physicalorgans in the body, such as our
heart.
I like this quote because shehelps us to understand that when
we're exploring these energymedicine topics, we may not

(10:17):
fully understand it.
It may be better to just feelit, sense it within our bodies.
But we won't get the hardscience numbers answer on these
things.
So why energy alignment mattersand coming up?
Why this program matters is thathormonal health is really not

(10:41):
black and white.
Many times people will get theimpression that if you get a
hormone level checked and thenyou replace the hormone to where
you believe it should bebecause we have a set of numbers
that tell us this is kind ofthe normal range, that once we
do that we should feel better.
But unfortunately it's reallynot that simple.

(11:04):
I frequently have to tell mypatients that labs they help,
they can be helpful, but the labdoesn't tell us how you feel in
your lived experience.
So we have to remember that, although that number is needed,
if, for instance, you start yourlevothyroxine and you still

(11:25):
feel very tired, then we'rereally not at the answer and
there's probably more to thestory as to why you're feeling
tired.
Even once we replace yourthyroid levels back to where the
lab says is normal.
Conventional medicine isextremely helpful when we're
trying to figure out thesymptoms hair growth that we

(11:48):
don't want, blood sugars thatare too high, skin that's
changing in color.
So of course conventionalmedicine's excellent at getting
to the diagnosis.
But then once we get there andwe figure out chemically how to
make you safe, how to preventanything serious from happening,
it kind of falls off.
It doesn't really explain to ushow you got there and then

(12:10):
unfortunately, it doesn't alwaysgive us a way to get out of it.
So of course if we needprescription medications we have
to take them.
But a lot of patients takingcommon replacements thyroid
replacement, hormone replacementthey want to know what can I do
to feel better.
So they don't always need this.
And when you have hormoneimbalances which I will explain

(12:36):
to my patients is maybe not somuch of an imbalance it's just
that what's happening insideyour body is not the best for
what you need to feel in life.
So something may not be workingenough, something's working too
much.
Things are not communicating, organs aren't communicating with
each other and the end resultof that is that it's you that

(12:59):
does not feel well.
So the approach to that is bestdone holistically.
So that leads us up to anexciting group program that's
underway.
We are currently working on itnow, and this is going to be a
blend of functional medicine, ofenergy healing, learning to
balance the chakras and learningthe practice of Reiki.

(13:22):
And although this program isfor anyone who is motivated and
wants to devote some of theirtime and their energy to heal
their bodies, we were thinkingof women who are living with not
feeling the way they want tofeel, who might be feeling busy

(13:43):
and time constraints, or mayhave already gotten some answers
as far as blood work, as far asworking with functional
medicine doctors, but stilldon't feel the way they want to
feel.
And what we're doing is we arecombining these practices over a
several week program to helpyou find your way back to
yourself.

(14:03):
So I think of us as guides morelike guides, but that at the
end of this, you'll be the onethat finds the solution.
And in our program we'll beincluding educational topics on
functional medicine.
We'll be including energymedicine tips, including you

(14:23):
learning the practice of Reiki, and you'll be doing this all
along the way Very exciting.
So I'm going to introduce yourteam that is going to be working
with you.
So I'm Dr Charlize and so, ofcourse, if you're listening to
my podcast, you probably seesome info about me and I'm

(14:44):
partnering with three healersthat I'm so excited are ready to
share their gifts, share theirknowledge and are so on board to
helping you feel the way thatyou want to feel.
Kathy Harmon-Luper, who is theofferer of Suffering to Thriving
, is a sound healer.
She's a Reiki master and shecombines her gifts to help those

(15:07):
that need it most on the mostdifficult journeys.
I will put in the show noteswhere you can get a copy of her
book.
I personally will tell youKathy truly is inspiring.
She's a shining light foranyone who's dealing with
serious illness.
Her approach is gentle, it'sloving and really what she
shares can help anyone dealingwith a serious diagnosis,

(15:30):
including crushing chronic pain, cancers, heart disease,
anything like that.
So in the show notes I'll makesure to include where you can
find Kathy's information and ifyou sign up for our program,
when it's ready you'll get towork with Kathy.
Melissa is a board certifiedholistic health practitioner and

(15:51):

medicine and she works with herclients to get to the root of
disease.
So Really Nourished isMelissa's website and I will put
it in the show notes so thatyou can find her.
And then also we are going tohave Tway Nguyen, who is an
executive in a large majorhospital as well as a Reiki

(16:15):
master.
Tway has been a healthcareexecutive for many years and
he's worked in financialplanning, strategy and
institutional advancement.
On top of all that, he's aReiki master and he is going to
be leading the training tohelping you become a certified
Reiki One practitioner.

(16:35):
In the show notes I will includeinformation about where to find
all of them, and they will bepart of the team that'll be
working with you.
So for the next steps, what Iwould recommend is that you get
a copy of my free ebook Chakrasand Hormones.
So this is a resource we puttogether that introduces the

(16:58):
idea, really helps educate youas far as where we're going, and
it'll also have our contactinformation in there.
And then also I encourage youto start learning more about
this connection, what you can donext.
I think this is a reallyexciting place to get you
started.

(17:18):
And then, lastly, you can book aconsultation with me.
So I am accepting functionalmedicine patients in certain
states, and the link in theinformation I'll provide should
explain to you the states.
This is about 10 or 11 statesthat I can work with patients.
If I can't provide youfunctional medicine care in the

(17:47):
state that you are in, it ispossible to work with me.
As far as getting a Reikisession and my Reiki sessions we
really do focus on not just theenergy healing but really
exploring on an energetic levelwhat you're feeling the energy
healing, but really exploring onan energetic level what you're
feeling my newsletter link ifyou aren't on my newsletter,
because I send out informationabout once a week and then
whenever we have live events, like a live podcast testing or
webinar, I make sure to get itin there and then I also put a

(18:11):
link on places where to find me,such as on social media, my
websites.

check your show notes, I willmake sure that you have all of
that information about theupcoming program.
