So we'll get started.
Hello everyone.
(01:24):
Thank you so much for joiningme.
So during this session we'lldiscuss the healing power of
Reiki.
We will delve into how it canhelp with stress relief,
emotional balance, touch onimportant ways that it can help
you in your everyday life.
So let's get started.
So Reiki is a form of energyhealing.
(01:45):
It's actually one of manyenergy healing practices.
In the next several minutes,we'll actually cover a number of
energy healing modalities.
Promote healing balance.
(02:08):
I was recently listening tonoted and highly experienced
author, reiki practitioner, reiki healer, pamela Miles.
I follow her content.
I follow her online.
I have not taken a course withher yet, but it is definitely on
my agenda to train with her.
She offers some wonderfulresources, including something
called a Reiki timer.
Those of us that are in Reikiare used to needing something to
help us remind us of time, soshe created this Reiki timer app
(02:31):
that is so helpful.
But she was recently saying inan interview that you should be
worried about anyone who candescribe Reiki and tell you
exactly what it is, because, infact, we really can't describe
it exactly as it is.
And I took so much comfort inwhat she said because one of my
roles as both a physician and aReiki healer is that I'm asked
(02:56):
to present the topic of Reiki toa scientific community.
So I've stumbled and fumbledupon a number of phrases and
blah, blah, blah, blah, and Ireally can't ever get around to
it, which, for the Reikicommunity and those of us that
are woo-woo, we're okay with nothaving a distinct definition
(03:18):
and we like that.
We like to just fill it and letour intuition take us there.
But for the scientificcommunity, it helps to have
something.
So when she left with thestatement of anyone that tells
you they can tell you exactlywhat Reiki is, you should be
leery.
I felt so much better.
What Reiki is to me is creatinga healing intention, creating a
(03:42):
healing space, creating a timefor healing and then devoting
that time, space, intention tohelping either if I'm the Reiki
client, helping myself orhelping my Reiki client by
channeling this energy that weintend, hope and pray will
improve the situation, improvethe cells, improve the tissues
(04:05):
so that they're optimized andfunction for the highest good.
Still not the easiestdefinition, but with Reiki
there's a source of energy thatis powerful, it's all knowing,
it's wise, and it really justasks for you to ask for it to
come in.
But once you ask for it to comein, it will do what it needs to
(04:27):
do to help the situation.
And then the Reiki Healer is achannel, so the channels like
the focuser, the antenna thatreceives and then directs it to
where we've asked it to go to.
What I love about Reiki is thatit's non-invasive.
So many of the healingmodalities, definitely in my
(04:49):
medical world, in the practiceof medicine, are incredibly
invasive.
We don't think about it.
But prescriptions are, ofcourse, the most invasive
because it's the chemical goinginto your body and as much as we
have decades of information onpharmaceuticals, decades of
information on prescriptions, inthe end of the day we don't
(05:12):
always really know how thisworks.
Same thing for herbalsupplements.
I like to tell my functionalmedicine clients that even with
herbal supplements we might havesome idea and it's plant-based
and we think we know how itworks.
But chemically it's probablydoing things on the molecular
level that we still don'tunderstand.
Of course we reap the benefits, but we always have to keep in
(05:33):
mind that it's going inside ofour body.
Invasive treatments likesurgery of course, when we need
surgery for very sick, something's very injured,
surgical treatment is indicated, but of course it's invasive, so
we increase the risk thatsomething could go wrong, may
not feel good.
Even treatments like physicaltherapy or manipulative
(05:53):
therapies with chiropractorsagain, these are helpful when we
need them, but they areinvasive in that we are changing
the tissue of our bodiesmechanically With Reiki, when
we're channeling that energy,it's not invasive.
We're asking energy to go intothe body or into the energy body
(06:13):
and then we just ask that Reikido what's best for the person
that's receiving and throughthat they will find that they
are receiving the healing thatthey need and we're not having
to highly manipulate or changethem and therefore the risk of
(06:33):
side effects or ill effects arevery low, and we really like
that.
That's nice.
And then, of course, reiki is aholistic approach.
We love that it's holistic.
It can address more than thephysical needs approach.
We love that it's holistic.
It can address more than thephysical needs Reiki clients
that have come to me.
(06:53):
It's probably a split betweenall three reasons why someone
would want a Reiki session.
Some want to heal physicalsymptoms, some are working with
emotional symptoms that havegone on for a long time, some
are dealing with spiritualissues.
And then I've noticed thatReiki clients are wise, very
wise, and they know what theyneed.
(07:14):
And so they usually present tome with all three and having a
sense of what's created theproblem that they're living with
, that they want to heal andwanting Reiki to help clear the
path to heal, that I have seenthat Reiki has been presented as
(07:34):
being an ancient healingmodality and I just like to
point out to people that I don'tknow ancient.
The practice of Reiki that wepractice here in the West now
originated in Japan in 1922.
And it was discovered by theoriginal Reiki master, makayo
Yusui, and it was through adeeply spiritual experience that
(07:57):
he had after he had severalquestions about his life,
existence, everything that hetook himself on a spiritual
journey and came back with thegift of Reiki that eventually
spread from him to his studentsand his students to the rest of
the world once it hit the Westand then it spread around the
planet and has become thepractice that we have today.
(08:18):
In the history of Reiki, someof the information that is
handed down is that it was arediscovery of the ancient
healing techniques of JesusChrist.
And as I've studied Reikibecause the history of Reiki
does get a little bitcontroversial and it gets a
(08:39):
little blended, but what we'retaught as students is that is
just be open-minded when we'relearning the history of Reiki
and that description I oftenlove that it's actually just a
rediscovery of a healingintention and technique that was
always available to us, taughtto us by Jesus Christ, but with
the nature of humanity andsuffering on the planet, we just
simply forgot.
(08:59):
So we were reintroduced to whatwe can do with our minds, our
bodies and our spirit if we setthe intention.
It's also important to know thatReiki is open to everyone.
(09:22):
So anyone who wants to receiveReiki can, but anyone who wants
to learn Reiki can and should.
A lot of people that becomecurious about Reiki will
sometimes feel like maybethey're not allowed to, maybe it
goes against their religiousbeliefs or their upbringing, or
maybe it requires you to havebeen born with special gifts or
(09:47):
already have some certification.
But Reiki is open to everyone,Doesn't matter your age,
background, your spiritualbeliefs.
Spiritual belief is importantbecause Reiki is open to all
religions.
Reiki is not a religion.
Reiki can support your religiouspractices if you'd like and as
(10:07):
you become.
If you become a Reikipractitioner, you can invoke
your religious practice intoyour Reiki practice.
They actually work verypowerful together.
I love prayer and Reikitogether.
But also, reiki is open toatheists.
Someone that's an atheist canactually practice.
Reiki is open to atheists.
Someone that's an atheist canactually practice Reiki, and I
love to point that out to people, because it's just important to
(10:29):
know that this isn't a closedworld.
It's open to everyone thatfeels called to it.
There are no prerequisites, soyou don't have to have anything
coming into it and it's apersonal journey.
So if the term hits your energyfield or your thought or
consciousness, it's aninvitation to start learning
(10:51):
more, start reading more, startfeeling into it.
That way is a personaltransformation.
The Reiki one is, to me, stillthe most powerful time in a
Reiki healer's life is when youtransition from not knowing to
(11:14):
knowing, and where it takes youfrom there is amazing, but it
also can take you into justbecoming your own healer the
most important aspect of Reiki.
So there are some myths aboutReiki, and we would expect this
(11:34):
because as a practice it'sbecoming more common but it's
not very well known and becauseof some of the storied history
and just the nature of thepractice, it's very easy to make
some assumptions or somemisgivings.
And then, of course, we alwayshave to worry that there might
be some people who arepracticing offering and not
coming from the best ofintentions.
(11:55):
Reiki is not a religion, soit's open to any religious
background.
Anyone in any religion thatfeels called to Reiki should,
because it will not interfere,it will not stop you from your
religious practice.
You can use Reiki to supportyour religious practice and if
you're working closer working tobecome closer to your religion
(12:17):
and tuning in, reiki can supportthat.
There is scientific evidenceshowing the benefits of Reiki
and in this topic it's actuallygrowing more and more as time
goes on that there are benefitsof Reiki.
Naturally, there's going to bestudies that show Reiki is not
necessarily beneficial for allconditions and I think that's
completely fair.
(12:37):
We know that not all healingmodalities will work for
everything, but there arescientific evidence to show that
Reiki can help with a number ofmedical conditions when studied
under a scientific setting.
And then, of course, reiki is asafe practice.
I've seen some mentions onlinein different settings that was
Reiki safe?
(12:58):
I had a Reiki session and Idon't feel well and some things.
And I really have to lean onthe fact that if it's a Reiki, a
certified Reiki practitioner, that's coming from the best of
intentions, it's a very safepractice.
So for me, reiki has reallybeen a life hack.
(13:24):
It's been a tool that I couldtap into for a lot of reasons,
not just for my own physicalhealth, although it is what I
use on a daily basis.
I practice Reiki on myself, butit's been something I've been
able to tap into in a number ofplaces in my life.
So, of course, for self-healingyou can.
Once you learn Reiki, practicing on yourself is a
(13:46):
requirement and a prerequisitein your first few weeks of
becoming a Reiki practitioner.
You can use it to releasestress.
You can use it to balance youremotions.
And when you're performing yourown Reiki sessions, it doesn't
have to be a full session of 45minutes or an hour.
You can do a Reiki session onyourself in the short of nine
minutes or 15 minutes and you'llstill reap the benefits.
(14:10):
Reiki is one of my favoritetools for work.
It's such a great work tool.
I tell people that no matterwhere you work or what you do,
learning Reiki can help greasethe wheels of your work
environment.
So Reiki is great beforecorporate meetings, before
interviews.
Reiki is great to ease your dayat work if you want to Reiki
(14:33):
your schedule to make sure yourun on time and things run
smoothly.
If you're working with yourhands, you could use Reiki to
protect your hands.
You can even Reiki devices likeyour tools, your instruments,
your computers.
You can use Reiki on those tohelp them run smoother.
So it's one of the coolest lifehacks and you can do just a few
(14:55):
minutes of it and it worksgreat.
Reiki is wonderful for travel.
One of my favorite things to dobefore a trip, during a trip
and even after a trip is sendingReiki to your travel itinerary.
Send Reiki to your flight tomake sure it leaves on time and
it runs smoothly.
Or, if you're anxious duringtrips, reiki on yourself before
(15:17):
or even during the trip, just tohelp settle your nerves.
If you own pets, one of thebest places to use Reiki is with
your pets.
Animals love energy medicine.
They are energy beings andthey're so much more intuitive
than us humans.
So Reiki for our pets, depending on what's going on and
(15:38):
you can actually becomecertified in animal Reiki, which
you learn more about the energybodies of animals, which are
different than humans.
But even with your Reikitraining, just using it to help
calm pet nerves, sendingdistance Reiki to pets if
they're at the vet's office, oneof my very favorite tools and
it's something I've been doingnow for about seven or eight
(16:00):
years is Reiki with my furbabies To get started with Reiki
.
There's a number of ways to doit and, of course, one of the
best ways is a way to treatyourself and do something nice
for yourself is to book a Reikisession with a Reiki
(16:24):
practitioner.
Experiencing Reiki for yourselfis a beautiful thing and it's a
healing space and it's justfantastic, so booking a session
is always worthwhile.
Many Reiki practitioners workonline or in person, or a
combination of both.
Learning the basics of Reiki,so really just reading about it,
(16:45):
I think anytime you becomecurious about a healing modality
, educating yourself is one ofthe best places to start.
You can actually learn Reiki.
You don't actually have to goto someone first if you're
feeling called to it.
One common example I hear quitea bit and that's called to some
people is that because of theirrequirements as a caregiver to
(17:09):
family members, that Reikibecomes something that they're
called to and it helps them intheir caregiving role caring for
a sick parent or sick child orjust sick family member that
they learn Reiki and it helpsthemselves and then it helps in
their caregiving roles.
(17:32):
When you start your Reikijourney, the things that it does
for you it empowers you, ithelps you learn to take charge,
increase your intuition, see theplaces in your life where you
need healing and actually dosomething about it.
It's holistic, so it's bothphysical, emotional and
spiritual.
And when you learn Reiki it'sactually a lifelong practice.
(17:56):
So once you learn the firstlevel, you don't ever lose it.
You don't have to retrain in it, although many of us Reiki
healers often go back and domore training.
But once you've done the firstlevel of training, it's with you
.
The Reiki attunement stays withyou your whole life.
For some Reiki practitionersthey start the training and then
(18:16):
they forget and don't practicefor a long time, and it's okay.
As long as they start topractice again, they come right
back to where it is.
But it's okay.
As long as they start topractice again, they come right
back to where it is.
But that's something you learn.
It's ingrained in you that onceyou learn Reiki it never goes
away.
It's just always there for you.
(18:42):
I put in the chat box.
There is a handout with theseslides, just so the links are
there.
But if you are feeling called, there will be a Reiki One
training with me.
That'll be on November 16th andthe details will be in the
links there.
That's in the download.
It's also on, I believe, on mymain website.
So we'll be doing four hours oftraining Reiki, one
(19:10):
certification to help launch youon your Reiki path.
I have a self-paced Reiki coursethat I keep open on my website
as well Healing Arts, health andWellness and this is for people
that, of course, want to getstarted.
They're busy, just want tostart right away, and the
lessons are chopped up intoshort little pieces so that you
(19:31):
can easily get started on yourown schedule.
Online Reiki is actually a verynice way to learn, and then we
connect when it's time to doyour attunement, and I've been
fortunate enough with moststudents are able to work out
something that works for them, because the attunement, if we
can do it live, we prefer to doit live, but it doesn't have to
be live because there's so manylife circumstances where we just
(19:54):
can't make that happen.
So I've got a way that we cando the attunement live, or do it
.
If we can't do it another way,do it if we can't do it another
way.
I have a Reiki practice inOklahoma City and I've got
information that's in thehandout as well on my website.
As far as, if you are wantingto schedule a Reiki session for
(20:16):
yourself, I actually have anumber of sessions, but the
90-minute session is really themost therapeutic because it
allows us time to talk.
I leave my Reiki clients with awritten report of your sessions
, from everything that wediscuss.
You get a breakdown of what wediscuss.
You get a breakdown of yourenergy blocks where you're doing
(20:38):
well, and I send my Reikiclients with recommendations,
information or even tasks thatthey may want to complete after
their Reiki session.
