Welcome to the "Art of Representation" podcast, where creativity, diversity, and authentic expression take center stage. I'm your host, Lucia Diaz, and today we have the privilege of having Talisa Almonte.
Talisa Almonte is not just an artist; she's a passionate advocate for individuality, diversity, and the power of art to convey messages of positivity. Her journey into the world of art and design began at a young age, thanks to her father, who had a thriving creative business known as Almonte Estudio in the Dominican Republic. In March 2021, Talisa established her own LLC, Almonte Studio, in loving memory of her father, who sadly passed away in February 2021. This podcast episode is a heartfelt tribute to his legacy.

Her work is a testament to her commitment to embracing the unique stories and voices of individuals. She firmly believes in the importance of celebrating diversity and authenticity through her art.
Talisa's artistic palette is as diverse as her experiences. Her work often features vibrant colors, mixed textures, and a strong focus on women's empowerment. However, what sets Talisa apart is her versatility. With a background in both fine arts and design, she can adapt her style to meet the needs of a wide range of clients.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
