SPEAKER_00 (00:03):
Welcome to the Art

We're your hosts, two artistsand friends.
I'm Tasha.
And I'm Brianna.
At the end of 2024, we decidedwe wanted to cultivate more
safety, peace, love, alignment, and excitement through our art
and our art practices.
(00:24):
So here we are sharing ourjourney with you.
And we're so excited you'rehere.
We hope you enjoy ourconversations.
They're honest, raw, just justtwo friends talking to each
other about the realities oflife and creativity.
We're so excited for you to joinus and be along with us for the
journey.
(00:46):
So this last week we rewatchedthe Lego movie.
It's been a while since I'veseen that one.
Yeah.
It had been a while for me too.
And I, I was a little fuzzy onthe story.
Yeah.
I don't, I don't remember all ofit all that well.
Let me give you, let me give youthe crash course.
Okay.
Super fast.
So it's about Emmett.
(01:06):
He's a construction worker andhe finds the piece of resistance
and becomes the special thatfulfills the prophecy of like
saving world and everything.
But, he is a complete like blankslate he doesn't have any
creativity of his own at all hejust like always follows the
(01:27):
instructions and he is supposedto be this master builder of all
master builders you know thegreatest and most special of
them all but he doesn't knowanything about creating for
himself right aha yes nope Iremember this now and so as he
goes through the whole story andstarts to really believe in
(01:51):
himself and you know has thatsupport of people who believe in
him as well and takes thoseaction steps he ends up doing
incredible things and saving thewhole universe and turning the
evil lord business into like agood guy and all the good things
you know and then they livehappily ever after I love that
(02:13):
that was a great crash courseback into the story no I love
this though I really enjoy thechosen one trope in a lot of
stories I love I love it whenyou have a character who takes
who like doesn't really believein themselves yeah right they
don't believe that they'respecial they don't believe that
(02:35):
they really have much to offerbut then they start taking tiny
steps towards that becausethere's the mentor or someone
who does believe in them Right.
It's normally a mix.
There's normally a mix of likesomeone who's like, you are
special.
You are chosen.
There's something here.
And they're like, whoa, I am me.
(02:58):
I am just, I'm just me.
I'm not special.
I'm just me.
And they start, you know, itstarts them down this course of
figuring out that, you know whatI am I am special and there is
something like I do havesomething to offer the world
exactly so rewatching it thislast week since you know we
(03:23):
started our podcast and havebeen on our experiment and
really gone on our own journeyof believing in ourselves it
just it really reminded me of ofwhat we're doing and and
creativity you don't think youcan learn great life lessons
from the Lego movie, but therewere some really good ones in
(03:44):
there, some really powerfulideas and principles that I
thought really applied to kindof our, what we're doing.
And so I wanted to talk aboutthat a little bit about how,
when we believe in ourselves, wecan accomplish great things, you
know, and how we all havesomething special in us.
And there, there was a pointwhere Emmett believes he's a
(04:06):
special and he, they're going totry and save the world and
everything and then his mentordies and is like actually the
prophecy was all just a lie Ijust made it up and then he dies
you know and so Emmett's like ohno I'm not the special I can't
do it no more double deckerbuses for you that's right and
(04:30):
so then you know the mentorcomes back as a ghost and is
like but I did oh no it was adouble decker couch that's right
the double decker couch sorryhad to Get that straight.
Didn't mean to interrupt.
(05:10):
they ended up being exactly whatthe situation needed so I loved
that principle but Vitruvius thementor guide he comes back as a
ghost and says you didn't let mefinish because I died and he
says I made up the prophecy butthat doesn't mean it's not true
(05:32):
everybody has something insideof them that is special and once
you believe in yourself then youbecome the special I love that
yeah I love that yeah going backto like the chosen one trope
again it's they become thechosen one when they choose it
(05:54):
right it's something I don'tknow we see this storyline and
this theme across like all it'slike one of the most popular
yeah all the time all the timein so many different stories and
and media books and all thethings.
And I think we just don'treally...
(06:15):
We don't really take it to hearta lot of the time that the
people in it are just regularpeople and something happens to
them or they understandsomething about themselves and
then they come to thiscrossroads of like a choice
whether or not to believe thatit's true or believe in
(06:37):
themselves or make the next stepand do it scared anyways.
And I don't think we always putourselves in that Right.
(07:15):
been successful probably notright probably not but he went
on this whole journey of youknow realizing he could outsmart
the trolls yeah realizing thathe could that he could uh
outsmart golem you know it waslike those little steps that
(07:35):
built up to him you know havingenough confidence that he's like
oh maybe i can maybe like i cando this i love that i example
because especially because atfirst Bilbo he's pretty content
with his life you know hedoesn't want anything more
there's maybe been a little bitof an inkling all of his life
(07:59):
but he's kind of stuffed it downyeah because apparently he was a
little different when he was akid he was a little more
adventurous than the othersright but he you know he kind of
tamped it down his life as ahobbit he came to accept that
that was his life he was justgonna you know
SPEAKER_01 (08:15):
Be
SPEAKER_00 (08:16):
a respectable hobbit
and just go through the motions
and do what was expected of him, right?
Yeah.
And then Gandalf comes to hisdoor and all of the dwarves and
they're like, we have thisadventure we're going to go on.
You should come with us.
And they leave the choice up tohim.
They don't force him oranything.
But he's like, what?
No, I can't do that.
(08:36):
I'm a respectable hobbit.
Yeah.
But then he listens to hisintuition.
Like he listens to them.
That little whisper.
That little whisper of desire.
You might regret it if you don'tdo this.
Yeah, like you're made for more.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
And he takes that first step, that leap of faith, that leap of
(09:00):
faith of listening to hiswhisper, right?
His inside, internal.
Yeah.
And it wasn't easy going fromthere.
He had faced lots of challenges.
Yeah.
And, you know, but he didn'tturn back.
he kept going he kept going andwas able to do something really
great from that and I think themost beautiful part of it is
(09:25):
that he found himself and I alsolove that what helped him
succeed was his creativity yes100% I love that all the problem
solving all the riddles like hejust got really creative he's
like well I can't fight offthese guys so So how can I use
(09:46):
my special abilities and talentsand, you know, like my way of
doing things that do not looklike what everybody else is
doing.
I love that.
I love it so much.
This is why it's a classic.
This is why it's classic.
So good.
And it's so applicable becausewe all are unique and we all
(10:07):
have something, um, inherentlyinside of us.
That's just us, you know?
Yeah.
Um, that may look different fromothers and is a different way of
problem solving or doing thingsor seeing the world yeah and
when we actually let ourselvessee it and let ourselves express
(10:29):
it or use it right whatever thatis to choose us then we can make
a huge impact and it may not belike you know world-renowned
celebrity kind of save theuniverse you may not You may not
save the entire Lego universe.
Right.
You may not get the dwarvestheir home back.
(10:52):
Defeated dragon.
But you will still make a hugeimpact on your world and the
people around you.
Because when we're showing up asour true selves, that's when
we're our best selves.
And that's when we make the mostimpact.
The most impact.
I also love in these storiesthat they don't do it alone.
(11:15):
yeah yeah you know it's like youare special you are the chosen
one and it's like oh it's all onmy shoulders it's all on me but
they don't they don't do italone never they never are
completely by themselves I meanyou got the golden trio like
would Harry have defeatedVoldemort without Hermione and
Ron more Hermione than Ron butyou know like he needed that
(11:39):
support yeah 100% Bilbo wouldn'thave gotten there without the
dwarves and Gandalf Yeah.
(12:15):
And ended up having like thegroup of people that stuck with
them and believed in them
SPEAKER_01 (12:24):
are
SPEAKER_00 (12:25):
the ones that really
made a difference and they
couldn't have done it withoutthem.
Yeah.
lonely you know yeah it's scaryand it's scary it's a big step
SPEAKER_01 (12:49):
yeah
SPEAKER_00 (12:50):
but it doesn't mean
that there aren't those people
out there
SPEAKER_01 (12:53):
right
SPEAKER_00 (12:54):
and that we don't
have that support
SPEAKER_01 (12:56):
yeah
SPEAKER_00 (12:56):
and it doesn't mean
that we have to do it alone no
we can make that consciouseffort to find our find our
tribe find our people findpeople who are who resonate in
the same way right and it can bescary when you've never had that
before because it feels it canfeel so dysregulating Yeah.
(13:17):
How am I supposed to evenbelieve that that is possible
when you've never experiencedit?
But it is possible and it is outthere and you can find it and
it's worth the discomfort in thebeginning.
Yeah.
I mean, if you think of there'smillions and millions of people
(13:37):
in the world, right?
And so when you take a step backand really think about it, it's
kind of silly Yeah.
Right.
(14:14):
worthy of your art, of yourcreativity, of what delights
you.
We believe so deeply in this andso deeply in you that you have
something special inside of youand that when you tap into it,
