(00:46):
Week 16 check-in.
First week of summer break.
How did it go?
Did you make time to create thisweek?
Yeah, this week has beenobviously crazy.
You know, like the schedule isout the window.
It's a new schedule.
We're figuring it all out.
But I did.
(01:06):
Yeah, I did.
I was able to squeeze in sometime while Jenny was occupied,
you know, doing something else.
And so I was like, I'm going todo it.
so I how did you manage I youknow it wasn't very long um
that's okay but I'm trying toremember this week has been so
(01:29):
long it's been insane um thelongest week of our lives yeah
adjusting the summer break likea really long time ago that this
even happened like a whole montha whole month ago yeah in a week
yeah um yeah so I did the thirdum painting for my inkwell oh so
(01:52):
that was really fun because itwas like the last you know paper
that I had cut the last one Ithink I'm still gonna do more
because it'll be fun but I justhave to make time to you know I
have to actually cut the paperand like do the thing yeah um
but yeah it was fun it was funto finally finish those the the
first three initial ones that Ihad planned on doing and so and
(02:14):
then um to see them all togetherAnd put them in and see how they
look and figure it out.
(02:46):
was a little more you know alittle more my style but still a
little bit I don't know I wasjust kind of like putting it out
there but this third one yeah Idon't know I just really got in
the zone and I was like leaninginto how I like to create and
how I like to do it and theblending and the colors and I
just really wanted to you knowdo my palette and the other ones
(03:09):
I was really experimenting youknow and it was fun it was great
and I like the way they turnedout too they're just different
but Yeah.
This other one was a little moreof the usual way that I have
been creating.
And so that one felt good.
Okay.
No, I love that.
I love that you're doing morethan one for the inkwell because
(03:31):
then it is fun to see thatprogression.
Yeah.
And noticing that difference andgetting even more like clarity
on like, what do I like?
What do I not like?
What feels good to me?
Yeah.
That's fun.
Yeah.
Playing with style, playing withcolors, playing with, you know,
Yeah.
All the different things.
So it felt good.
It was fun.
It was, it was an experiment.
Right.
(03:51):
So how did you end up makingtime this week for creating with
having your son at home?
How did that part of it go?
He was doing something else withhis dad.
And so I just took that timeinstead of trying to do laundry
or trying to do the dishes ortrying to do, you know, anything
else.
I was like, no, I'm just, I'mgoing to, I'm going to paint
(04:14):
real quick right now.
Yeah, your priorities.
it yeah well he's busy I'm andI'm you know I have some time um
that I don't have to be in mommode or have to you know do
anything else yeah I'm gonna I'mgonna do this this is what I'm
gonna do so yeah I prioritizedit I I just chose to let the
other things go for a minute andand do do that and and connect
(04:38):
with myself and it was reallygood because I I really needed
it so yeah it was good I lovethat I love that yeah so before
summer's started, I talked to mydaughter and I was like, look,
this is something that I want towork on this summer.
I want to make art and I want topaint and I want to be creative
and I want to make space forthat every week.
(05:00):
And she's old enough now that wecan have that conversation.
And just be like, look, I wantyou to be in the studio with me
and come have painting, drawingdays with me.
And sometimes she wants to writeand sometimes she wants to draw
and sometimes she wants to paint
SPEAKER_01 (05:19):
and
SPEAKER_00 (05:20):
um just telling her
like you we've even pulled up
like youtube videos of how todraw oh yeah different things
there's a lot of fun tutorialsfor kids on there yeah well for
anybody yeah but yeah that'sthat's a good way to do that too
yeah so just had a conversationwith her like look this is what
i want to explore with thissummer what do you want to
(05:42):
explore with your art and yourcreativity what do you want to
learn about?
What's exciting you right now?
And just giving her that momentof really supporting her, not
moment, but like moments.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Of just being like, look, Ireally want to support you in
this.
I think it's important.
And showing up for her that way.
(06:04):
And then in turn, she's atleast, I mean, we're one
weekend, but she showed up forme
SPEAKER_01 (06:09):
that
SPEAKER_00 (06:10):
way.
And we did, we had a really, wehad a really fun, fun day in the
studio that this week where Iyou know worked continued
working on my painting on thebig piece of paper that I didn't
cut from last week yes so bravestill working on that and she
was in the studio with me and welistened to an audio book
(06:32):
together and did some yeah didsome creative work and it was
really it was really fun andthen I got some more done when
she like had a play date yeah Ilove that I love that you made
it a connection point yeah andthen you made it fun together
like a together thing you knowit's not just like okay I have
to work so you have to be youknow go do your thing it was
(06:54):
like let's do let's make thisfun yeah this is something
that's important to me and youlike you know and so let's do it
together and make it anexperience together you know
yeah that's brilliant you'reamazing thank you like mom win
100% so good it helps that sheloves to draw yeah so that was
actually an exciting moreexciting Oh, that's so fun.
(07:18):
If she hated drawing, I don'tknow what I would have done.
SPEAKER_01 (07:20):
Well, I
SPEAKER_00 (07:21):
don't know what I
would do.
If I had just like a child thatloved to play soccer or
something, I would be so lost.
I don't know how to parent this.
It's okay.
You got the right kid for you.
So it's all good.
I do.
I do.
Yeah.
But I liked, I like havingthose, you know, if I'm going to
(07:41):
ask her for support in some way,um, being an example like trying
to be an example of that as welland like extend that same you
know kindness and support yeah Ifeel like it's really helpful
yeah 100% because then they wantto do I mean kids are so great
(08:02):
they just they want to you knowthey want to do all the right
things and all you know theywant to love you and they want
to do you know be good yeah andso yeah when they have that
experience Then they want tonaturally just want to do that
in return.
And it's great.
That was like really insightful.
It was really good.
Thank you.
SPEAKER_01 (08:22):
Thank
SPEAKER_00 (08:23):
you.
Yeah.
We also talked about like, whatare some other things that are
important to you this summerthat you want to do?

know either it's something thatwe are really focused on each
other and working on you knowbeing with each other together
I'm trying to think of anexample I can't think of an
example but like with the artyou know I'm doing my own thing
and she's doing her own thingit's not like we're working on
(09:05):
the same painting together rightso you know it's kind of like
you know do you want Do you wantthings where we are more
connected?
Do you want things where we'redoing the same thing, but...
separately yeah no I like that Ilike that a lot so this is
