The Artemis Diaries is a podcast for animal-loving youth and women who want to work with animals but don't know what path to take. We talk to biologists, veterinarians, trainers, breeders, and keepers alike discussing the highs and lows of life and how animals play into these women's daily lives. We touch on hard to discuss topics like captive animals, behavioral euthanasia, animal husbandry and the way that women are raising the standards. Follow along with us, and hopefully you learn something new with me.

Welcome Emily and Jake the African Grey onto the pod today! She and I have become good friends over the years and I love talking to her. We talk about birds but the majority of this podcast is about being a content creator and what it takes to be on social media. It is so much harder than what many people think it is. Being a content creator will bring out some of your bigges...

Cristina is such an amazing woman and I'm so glad to have her on my podcast for you all to listen to today! I found her while doom scrolling Facebook and boy am I glad I did. And the smallest one is only 8 inches long?! We discuss caves and the things we learn from ...
Hello my lovelies!
I just wanted to post a quick explanation of where I've been. I am so excited that we have breached 200 listens, in the audio you'll hear me say under 200, but it changed!!! We updated our logo, I have recorded some new chapters, we now have an insta, facebook, tik tok and youtube (youtube is still under development) and we are chugging along. I really appreciate your patience, and I am hoping I won...
Courtenay DeHoff joins us to talk about Top Dollar, a world champion bucking bull! We also talk about how to embrace our inner Fancy Lady Cowgirl, and how to create your own legacy. Go follow her on her socials, and definitely check out Top...
TW: Infant death, suicide, human impact on the earth, cruelty to animals
This episode is a hard one. It really rocked my view points on some major topics, which I am so thankful for. Ariel is a Tik Toker who does content about wild Killer Whales on the coast of Washington. She tells us stories from the woman led pods and how they survive in a world that we as humans have destroyed. Their stories are about loss and perseverance. I c...
Seana and I had a wonderful chat about her living all of our dreams by working as a zookeeper! She is such a bright and wise young woman, I know I know I’m not that old… but I feel like I’ve lived 70 lifetimes ok. One of my favorite things about talking to so many amazing women is I learn so much about myself. They encourage me to continue doing the work I am doing, and that I have earned my knowledge and my place here. So Seana, t...
The numbers on the episodes are still messed up, I’m sorry! Things are starting to get more streamlined as I am starting to build a team to build this project. Thank you for your patience!
This conversation with Christy Bills, who was my mentor over a decade ago in the Entomology Department at the Utah Natural History Museum, was quite emotional for me. She was the mother I always wanted and she has silently cheered me on from the...
Chapter 4. Diana is a Tik Tok creator who I stumbled upon late one night while Doom scrolling. She is a fun, bubbly, and very wise 20 year old who I enjoyed talking to so much! She has a zoology degree, but isn't doing anything with zoology now. In this episode we discuss how she doesn't regret getting the degree and what doors it opened for her. We also "side quested" a bit, discussing animal diseases as it's...
TW Suicide, Death, Depression, Mental Health
Dr. Jenn Shuck and I talked about some pretty heavy stuff in this Chapter. Becoming a veterinarian is one that is pushed to many animal-loving people, but we don't know the realities of becoming one. The expenses, the mental toll, and the lack of pay. Being a vet can be so so rewarding, but we wanted to make sure you knew the realities as well. If you are in Vet Med and are feel...
Amy Heath is a dog trainer that is based out of Shoshone ID, running her company Talented K9. (www.facebook.com/TalentedK9) We talk about her journey as she experimented with different styles and through trial and error she landed on her current training style. In this chapter, we talk about how to ethically chose a dog for your family, some breed-specific issues, and what creates a reactive dog. We discuss how training dogs made h...
I know I have been keeping you all waiting for WAY too long. I just wanted to give a quick disclosure before I moved on and started publishing the rest of my episodes. All opinions are either my own or my guests and we can change those opinions at any time moving forward with our lives. Keeping animals is not linear, it is a constant journey.
