(00:02):
It's Wednesday. It is Wednesday, isn't it?
Yes, it is Wednesday. How you doing, everybody?
My name is Sean Shapiro, former police officer turned full time
content creator slash educator about stuff and things.
If you want to know stuff about traffic laws, you know, Traffic
Safety police stuff, I'm your guy.
I'm I'm, I'm talking about everything that you need to know
(00:25):
to be safe on the road to avoid those pesky tickets that make
your insurance go up. I just want to help you be
safer. Doesn't matter whether you walk
right or drive. I got stuff that can help you.
And we can also talk about Donuts sometimes.
There's always people who want to know about Donuts.
If you're watching on TikTok, please tap the screen so your
fingers go normally helps everybody.
Well find the live stream. We had over 90 people through
(00:48):
the live stream consistently last night for Ask a traffic cop
after dark. That's when I went live at 9:00
PM till just after 10. Doing what I'm doing right now.
But to the audience that was awake of late.
Funny story, before the live I posted a on ticked on X and I
was calling out the mayor of Vaughan because he was out
(01:12):
online asking for money where hewas at a there was an article
and he they published, publisheda a little graphic that said
we're looking for money to, to buy cameras to keep the
community safe. The crime cameras, you know, to,
to capture people who use firearms and and bad stuff.
But I just, you know, spoken in front of Bond City Council
(01:34):
asking them to keep the automated enforcement cameras in
place. And what I thought, thought was
funny was that they got rid of those cameras to bring in other
cameras. One could have paid for the
other one. Anyway, Mayor Del Duca actually
responded. I haven't actually posted a
response yet, but I, I've been, I'm trying to make sure I remain
professional. That's why I'm, I'm delaying.
(01:56):
Good morning to the creator, Steve and all those on
Instagram. We are currently broadcasting on
multiple platforms. I am on.
What am I on? We are on YouTube, LinkedIn,
TikTok, Instagram X, so whereveryou are, you can certainly leave
a message and in the comments and I will be able to respond to
you now if you like Shorty 449 who said top of the morning to
(02:21):
you and to the rest and the the rest of the day to you.
I always have to get that right or at least try to.
We've got drone Wayne Droner Wayne, who says morning Sean.
We've got Brandon who says good morning, Sean and all from
downtown diner in Celebration, Florida.
Hope you all have a fantastic day.
Thank you very much. My my friend who's from here,
(02:42):
but down there enjoying Corvettes and sunshine and I I,
I, I look forward to trying again to get together when
you're in town next. We've got a killer Draconis,
long time supporter and friend of the show.
Greetings and salutations from him in his, in his flight suit.
We didn't get to connect when hewas local last time he was in
(03:04):
the area and I couldn't, I couldn't meet up unfortunately.
But he he's moved further away so there's less frequent
opportunities. Anyway, if you got questions
about Traffic Safety, traffic, alot of police stuff, let's get
into it. Ethan Mulder wants to know how I
how did I find OPCOPC is the Ontario Police College and do I
have any tips to share? Can't put it on screen because
it's from TikTok as opposed to the YouTube, LinkedIn and X that
(03:28):
that easily go on screen, but I I can still respond.
I loved OPC. It was weird and difficult being
away from my wife because I actually had just got married
when I went to OPC. So it it was it was stressful
being away from my lovely bride. However, OPC itself was a great
experience, opportunities to learn and develop and realize
that you can do all that hard stuff.
(03:48):
I I really had a lot, a lot of fun, a lot of fun.
Let's see. He's he's he even says he's
going in January. That's that's awesome.
A lot of people say avoid the eggs.
The the food is, is better than than what people make it out to
be. The beds are not better.
They're they're I think they're worse.
A single bed. Bring a sleeping bag.
That's important. Woody lobes wants to know about,
(04:09):
you know, wants to ask or asks. Do you know anything about
affidavits? Yes.
What do you want to know about affidavits?
OK, guy in the hat says can I step out of the vehicle when I
get pulled over? Not approaching the cop.
Just get out. I don't think that's a good way
to play, especially if you're ona highway.
It's not safe. Your best bet is to stay in the
(04:29):
vehicle and wait for the police to approach.
It makes everybody feel a lot safer, especially the police
officers who see what getting out of the vehicle walking or or
some potentially is a threat because it's it's it's not
normal behavior. Stay in the car.
Keep your hands where we can seehim.
Just wait. And if you're going to make any
sudden moves inside the vehicle and this goes anywhere like
(04:50):
don't don't make sudden moves inthe vehicle.
Very suspicious gets the Spidey senses tingling.
So if you need to go get documents and that means
rustling around the vehicle, wait until you speak to the
officer and say, hey, my ownership is in the glove box.
Would you mind if I get that? Don't climb under all over the
vehicle. It looks like you're hiding
things, looks very bad. Doesn't mean that you're doing
(05:12):
something bad. It makes it look bad and then it
just makes things worse. Ethan says you're sponsored by
Diamond and Diamond, which is a great opportunity to say yes,
we're sponsored by Diamond and Diamond.
So when I left the Toronto Police Service over a year ago,
I started a not-for-profit organization called the Canadian
organization Better Traffic Safety and Education.
The mouthful. I know Diamond and Diamond
(05:32):
stepped up and said we'd like tohelp you and they've been a
sponsor for nearly the entire time and I appreciate their
support. Along with Barrett Legal, they
make it possible for me to continue doing this thing that I
do, which is giving back to the community and answering
questions and, and helping people make good decisions.
So yeah, they're they're awesome.
Somebody says cash grab, Deuces Wild 32 says cash grab.
(05:53):
I'm assuming that's a response to the the conversation about
automated enforcement cameras. I disagree.
I think holding people accountable is the right thing
to do. I think if you're choosing to
speed, if you're choosing to break the law, you deserve to
fund programs with your hard earned money.
You avoid if you don't like doing it.
You want to avoid paying, Don't break the law.
(06:14):
Maybe limits are there to be followed, not as a nice
suggestion. And anyone who says that little
grandma who's going to bingo andchoosing to do 10 over deserves
a break. I disagree with you.
She should follow the freaking law.
Yeah, Ethan says happy post Thanksgiving.
Thank you and to everyone who's watching, hope you had a great
(06:35):
Thanksgiving. It was, it was much.
I, I went chicken. I didn't do Turkey.
I'm not a Turkey fan. I like chicken.
I, I, I had a lot of Swiss chalettes that I had and I
enjoyed every bite. Oh by the way, if you're
watching and you don't already follow, please follow on all
platforms. It would be really helpful to
me. I'm trying to hit 1000 followers
(06:55):
on on YouTube. I'm trying to hit 1000 followers
in the voice over cop channel onFacebook.
Definitely looking for more followers everywhere.
Not because I get a plaque or a thing, it's just the the more we
have, the more people come to the party.
It's funny, I had almost 700,000followers when I was with
Toronto police. I'd like to get the numbers back
(07:15):
up there. No one's doing anything with the
other account, but it would be nice to be back where we were,
helping people. And the more people you have,
oddly enough, the more credibility you have.
It doesn't mean anything. It's a cloud chasing thing.
That doesn't mean anything to me.
I don't care how many followers I have, I help one person.
I'm happy with that. OK, Jacob says.
What's the craziest call you've been on?
And a call that made you say, are you kidding me?
(07:36):
I don't get into the, the, the the details of previous calls 1.
I don't, I don't really think about them.
There's a lot of good, there's alot of bad, but I don't I don't
really get into those. A lot of the calls were are you
kidding me? And I mean that by I pull
someone over that was doing, youknow, let's say they were doing
40 over or they were stunt driving and it's because they
had to go poo. Are you kidding me?
(07:58):
Yeah, maybe I maybe I should develop an are you kidding me
segment, But I I don't have things to to really talk about
in that regard on a regular 123 says they need help.
And if you need help and it's a legitimate emergency, this is
not the place to get it. You should be calling your local
fire police or ambulance for emergencies.
Crash. Davis says when is it too late
(08:20):
to join OPC? Is X X is 52 old?
No. When I went through, I was in my
late 30s. Now a little back story.
I was a member of the police service since I was 24.
I think I was 24. It was 2000 and I joined as an
(08:40):
auxiliary officer soon after. I in fact the same year, within
about six months I joined the Special Constable program
because it was a hiring freeze and I couldn't be a police
officer. No one could.
They weren't hiring. So I joined as a Special
Constable. I later went through and
converted 2 uniforms into one joining the police service as a
police constable. So I I handed in two and traded
in. So I was in my late 30s in my
(09:03):
class with someone who was 52. That means that I am still young
enough to be a new recruit in that model because I'm 51 now
and there are people who are older than that who joined.
If you want to be a cop, be a cop.
It's absolutely the best job in the world.
We have a question of was I or am I an Ontario police officer?
Oh, you're an Ontario officer. That's from Eva.
(09:24):
I was an Ontario officer, as it says on the screen, former
police officer. I am no longer.
I left just over a year ago. Yeah.
So I, I, I still identify as if as a, as a law man, but I am, I
am no longer a sworn officer. Let's see here.
Police services will hire any age as long as you can pass the
requirements and fitness. Absolutely, Ethan, you're
(09:44):
correct. And it's, and the backgrounds
and all that stuff. It's, it's not easy being green
or blue. Good morning, Tracy, it's good
to see you. And we have Eva who followed and
Ethan who followed. I appreciate the follows.
If you let's see here, let me scroll over to the Instagram.
No questions from Instagram. That's odd.
(10:08):
Usually a few and let's see herewe've got Shorty 449 who says
just wanted to start by saying thanks for what you do as a
front line officer. I appreciate the knowledge and
wisdom you are spreading. Well, thank you very much for
the thank you. I appreciate you and thank you
for still being out on the road doing what you do.
Oh, that's loud. I don't want that sounded here.
Hang on one second. I'm I'm getting, can I stop that
(10:31):
from happening? I'm getting my text messages
coming up and that's that's whatthat thing is.
That was Mr. Ed. He's my heating and air
conditioning guy and and friend, but he's the heating and he
identifies as a heating and air conditioning guy.
Nicholas, who says, how do you feel about people that you pull
over that only open the window acrack instead of all the way
(10:53):
down during an interaction? What's infuriating isn't it and
they're doing that to be difficult and it changes the
dynamic of that stop it. What could be easy isn't because
they're choosing for it not to be.
Now, I have not really had that issue just because of my warm
and friendly demeanor. People generally open the bloody
window. I, I really, I don't, I don't
think I've had that more than once.
I'm sure I had it once, even though I can't remember the
(11:15):
details. I'm sure I had it once.
But I have friends who dealt with that and still deal with
that. And oddly enough, sometimes that
goes in conjunction with Freemanand the land baloney where they
go. I'm not driving, I'm travelling.
This isn't commercial and I don't have license or insurance,
but I, I'm a corporation or blah, blah, blah, blah crap.
Those people generally get extracted from the, the
(11:36):
vehicle's window after it's smashed.
And, yeah, there's no good that comes from being a Dick.
That's that's what it is. OK.
Yeah, that's that's to put a blunt thing.
OK Brandon says it's a new cart.What?
What? Oh, Brandon, who already has all
the nice cars, says it's a new car to getting a Mustang RTR
(11:58):
media car for a few weeks to seeif I like it.
Are you creating content with these or what?
Tell me about I want to know more.
I I of course have been doing a Sean buys a car segment with
Brian Max Brian Max, and I thinkI can put sure, of course I can
put it up here. Brian Max.
If you don't already follow him,you really should.
How do I not have a link for him?
(12:20):
Stand by there we go. I knew I had something Brian
Max, if you check out his channel, you should follow it
and coming soon to a screen nearyou will be Sean buys a car and
that's Brian reviews cars. If you're interested in buying a
car, if you want to just know more, if you like the stuff that
goes fast, He's the guy and I'vebeen filming stuff with him.
In fact, I'm going to be out this week filming another
(12:43):
vehicle with him because I need a new set of wheels and I want
to know what to buy. But I don't want to just roam
around town. I want to have the exposure to
the new toys with my buddy. It makes a lot of fun.
So yeah, look, look, looking forward to that.
But rooter Mustang, I still won't fit in it might mind you,
I've shrunk a bit, so maybe I would fit in it.
(13:05):
Let's see. Oh, Chuck, like Chuck Norris.
I love it. Like Chuck Norris's school bus
hazards flashing for kids on board.
Is that the same as red lights and stop arm open?
So hazards are not a designationrequiring the traffic to stop.
So if you see or now depends on where you are.
Let me start by this, I'm in Ontario, Canada.
(13:26):
Canadian rules are pretty much the same across Canada.
For school bus. I'm not aware of any deviation.
Ontario was the last jurisdiction to go to stage.
In other words, we used to have flashing red and if the vehicle
was still moving, you could passit, but if it stopped, you
couldn't. And that was for another
direction on a undivided road oronly no passing from rear to
(13:46):
front or overtaking on a on a divided highway.
Anyway, some jurisdictions afterI put out a video that that went
somewhat viral with over 1,000,000 views on Instagram,
don't have laws that require oncoming traffic to stop if
there's like a turning lane in the middle.
Some wild stuff. And I think that's Ohio and
(14:09):
well, about five other places, but it's all in that video that
I posted anyway, in Ontario. Now, if you see flashing amber,
you can pass it with caution, but know that they're about to
stop. And whether the stop arm is out
or not, you must come to a stop and not pass a school bus with
the flashing red lights. Again, regardless of whether
there's a stop sign present, theflashing red lights enough are
(14:32):
are enough to require you to stop oncoming traffic if you are
on a road that is divided, whichis like Hwy. 4 O1.
Bad example but the only examplethat's really clear cut.
You have basically 21 way roads that together make the highway
that is where you have to or youdon't have to to stop if you're
oncoming but you do have to stopand not pass.
(14:54):
God forbid anyone ever actually tries to drop off schools.
Kids on four O 1 whatever young St. for instance.
Everyone would have to stop in both directions.
Same same story for emergency vehicles.
OK hope that helps you. If you got more questions ask
them. Molder 12 How did you find the
work life balance of policing? Tips for that mainly between
(15:16):
yourself and family. I I had no issue with it.
I kept all my friends that were not cops.
A lot of people dive right into the policing community
especially if they start really young and they know like
everyone they know is a cop. Keep your friends that are not
cops. Make sure you keep showing up
for family. As a new recruit, as someone
with no vacation time, you're going to be missing all sorts of
family functions and and that's just what it is.
(15:40):
But make make good use of your life.
Don't just do paid duties. Don't just dive in and make
every day a policing day. Take time for yourself.
Keep developing yourself. Make sure you keep developing
skills that are not police related so that you can have
hobbies and things when you are finished with policing.
Yeah, maybe maybe an alternate career, maybe get a degree or if
your your master's work on something to to better yourself.
(16:02):
Don't just make your life about policing, but work life balance.
When you're working, you're working and when you're not
working make sure you enjoy life.
HS8311 cars in HOV lanes often go 15 over the limit.
Speeding is not important in HOVlanes just because you have not
seen it enforced. Well, I think that on the
highways, the vast majority of people don't see speeding
(16:25):
enforced. It is being enforced, but one
cop handles one car and 500 carsgo by during that moment and
they may all be speeding. And 15 over is sort of the
average speed on every Rd. whichis gross.
Nobody should be speeding. There's also an issue with 15
over the 15 over. So there's people who are doing
15 over the average speed, whichmakes them probably going 30
(16:46):
over. And that's the biggest problem.
Big biggest problem is speed differential.
So if someone is in the HOV and it stopped traffic and they're
doing 100, which is the maximum let's say in that area, that
isn't 100 kilometer an hour speed differential.
If they're stopped traffic and you're doing 100 in the HOV,
that in itself is dumb. It may not have been proposed
(17:07):
that way. People don't realize that it's
very dangerous, but you don't want more than a 30 kilometer an
hour speed differential if a collision occurs.
Just picture this. It's stop traffic.
There's a guy who decides he's not willing to wait and stop
traffic. So he hooks a hard left to jump
into the HOV just as the guy doing 100 or 115 is passing.
That is the worst case as a terrible collision that is that
(17:31):
is severe wreckage. And go look at it on YouTube.
You can look up any of those HOVcollisions.
They're, they're wild to watch. Now, if you, if you're just
doing 15 over the, you know, you're overtaking people by 15
and there's a collision that's, that's only 15 kilometers
difference. The collision will be less fun,
less damage than than you'd like, Sorry, less fun, but still
(17:53):
more damage than you like. But what I'm getting at is it's
the 100 to 0 or the 50 to that'sover 100.
That's where the major issues lie.
But no one should be speeding. And what we have to get the word
out on is that if you are in theHIV lane, you want to be going
no more than 1520 kilometers past the slow traffic because
that's really what HOV lanes arefor.
(18:14):
It's when there's congestion in the main lanes that give people
who are carpooling an opportunity to pass them.
But you don't want to do that atbreakneck speeds or even the
speed limit. You want to slow down.
OK, let me have a look at what'swhat's going on here, Nicholas
says. I only, I always want to buy a
car at a cop auction. I'm afraid the previous owner is
a serial killer and they get their hands.
(18:36):
Oh they get their friends on theoutside that come after me.
This. You have to know that Nicholas
Rizzi, the asker of interesting questions is a is a stand up
comic and and sometimes his messages are too cryptic for me
back. I don't what movie is that from?
I got there must be a movie influencing that comment.
What happens when a driver's found to be driving on an
(18:56):
expired license in Canada? This is from operator Dirt 4611.
If they're operating on an expired license, they're not
operating on a license. They have no driver's license.
It's not valid. So they would be charged for
driving with no license. I believe it's about a $300
fine. They wouldn't be able to drive
away. And oddly enough, you're not
(19:17):
insured when you are like your, your vehicle could be insured,
but insurance companies don't usually cover you when you don't
have a driver's license. This is kind of a thing they
want you to be. So it could really cause a, an
issue for you. So don't do that.
Make sure you know, there's a, the hint there's a this date
that comes up annually. You know that that's a day you
(19:38):
should be checking to make sure that you are.
In fact, as your, that day approaches every year, you
should know, maybe put it in your, your smartphone calendar.
You know that you're going to begetting older and on that day,
which is the date that things expire in terms of licenses, end
of that day, you, you might, youmight need to renew.
Don't, don't let yourself be theperson who gets caught driving
(20:00):
with an expired license. And it's possible that a police
officer could say, just go take care of it.
It's, it's possible to get leniency, but you're not
licensed. And, and a police officer who's
covering their butt, which is what they should be doing.
They should not let you drive because you're on license.
And if something should happen down the street, they'd be
liable because they'd be a pointof interaction where they were.
They're logged as having seen you.
(20:21):
And then they would be letting an unlicensed driver drive away.
Yeah, not not a good look. Let's see what's going.
By the way, my name is Shanti Peruma.
Former police officer talks about Traffic Safety, traffic
law and police stuff. If you want to know more stuff
and things about Traffic Safety, traffic law and police stuff,
this is the right place. Please share.
Please follow. Share with your friends,
especially the ones you think suck as drivers.
(20:43):
Have you ever seen a municipal CBR pulled for non compliance?
I couldn't say. That's crash.
Dave is asking the question. I don't know because I don't go
to I, I never went on other people's calls.
You'd pull over to, to back someone up sometimes.
But as motor units, you know, we, if we were in the area or
you wouldn't drive across town, we were very independent in that
(21:04):
regard. Or we worked in, in pairs.
I had my permanent partner who recently retired too.
Shout out to the man, the myth, the legend.
Yeah. Just chatting with him this
morning about stuff and things. In any case, yeah, I, I can't
recall. CBR enforcement wasn't my thing.
That was his thing. He was ACVR inspector at one
point, but I don't know about whether he pulled over municipal
(21:26):
vehicles or not. I, I think what you're alleging
is that they don't get pulled over.
And I I couldn't say for sure. Eva Eva's a supporter of
chicken. OK, Hayden.
Hayden. Well, Hayden, well, one says one
O 2 and a 60. Do you think that person gets
cut slack from stunt driving fora first time offender?
I wouldn't. That would be first of all,
(21:47):
that's one O 2 and a 60 is more than double the requirement to
make it a a stunt driving chargebecause 100 or sorry, what am I
saying? One O 2 and a 60 is it's 40 over
right? It's 100% stunt driving.
I don't know where my math was going.
I'm like it's almost 1. I don't know what the heck.
(22:08):
I was like 1, 40 and 80. Yeah, my math was out of the out
the window. No logic in that brain fart.
Hold on. Yeah, I would not, would not,
would not, would not give a break to someone doing 102 and a
60. Have I given a break?
Once I reduced it by 1 kilometerto not take their vehicle.
And I regretted it when I saw them in court trying to
(22:30):
manipulate a situation of for even better treatment.
I was not impressed because I tried to save them and they,
they, their, their result was, but I'm not guilty and they were
absolutely guilty. And what, what should have
happened? I should have taken their
wheels, should have taken their wheels to teach them a lesson.
OK, Brent says, do you not driveover the maximum speed limit?
I've never met anyone who does that who doesn't speed.
(22:52):
I absolutely speed on occasion and if I get caught, I'm
absolutely going to be held accountable.
Why do I speed on occasion? I have spent on occasion to
catch a license plate for someone who is doing something
dangerous so I can report it to police.
Those occasions are justified inmy mind, even though I'm
technically breaking the law. Yeah, I've done it.
I'm no longer a police officer. I'm no longer exempt.
(23:13):
Have I done it? Absolutely I have.
Shouldn't taking a risk? Should you do it?
No, you shouldn't. I shouldn't do it either.
But I've done it. In those situations, as a police
officer, I was exempt. Absolutely.
Do I speed at any time? I've noticed myself over the
speed limit by one or two. I've slowed down.
You know what you can do to avoid speeding?
Not speed. You can become aware of it.
(23:35):
I was making this, at this, this, or acknowledging this last
night as I was driving home. I was driving home in the middle
of the night and I felt like I was going too fast.
I felt like I was going too quick.
I looked down at the speedometer.
I was doing 60 and a 60, but I'mso used to driving 40 and a 40
and 30 and a 30 and 50 and A50. That 60 felt fast.
(23:55):
It didn't feel too slow. What I'm getting at is you can
become accustomed to not speeding and then anything above
fuels. Odd.
Yeah, two thing. Can you find the pin test
requirements for 22 year old online like push up?
I'm sure you can. I don't know where I'd even look
for that. I can call someone and find out
for you, Ethan, if you're if youneed to know what the the, the
(24:18):
the requirements are, send me ane-mail at
voiceovercop@gmail.com. I'll look it up and see if I can
find it for you. Eva wants to know if we can make
calls for cars that are modifiedto have extreme backfire that
almost sound like Pew Pew. Do we want to make them illegal?
Because they're kind of already illegal.
Like they're they're they're ridiculous.
I don't want those on the road. They're annoying.
(24:38):
They only sound good for five seconds.
And even then they sound kind ofridiculous.
So. Oh, you want to know if you can
report them? Make them online?
Make an online report. It's, it's unnecessary noise.
Yeah, you can. And in some cases, it's a
violation of the environmental. Well, it used to be the
Environmental Protection Act, which is now being wrapped up
(25:00):
into the HTA. You, you should absolutely put
a, a neighborhood complaint in. If you know the specific
vehicles, you can make specific vehicle complaints.
Yeah, I, I think that those are valid.
I think that they interrupt yourability to enjoy your community,
your life. So I, I'm a big supporter of not
having those on their own. I think they sound ridiculous.
And I think they are most likelythat they're, they're most
(25:24):
likely enjoyed by very young people or, or people who haven't
grown up. I don't know an adult who needs
that. I'm really talking trash right
now. But but I, I don't know, like I
don't think they sound good. And I don't understand why
people buy cars that sound like I get if you're truly you've got
a performance race car and it sounds like that because it's a
(25:47):
performance race car. But most people driving to the
Becker's, if you know what Becker's is, don't need that in
their life. And certainly everybody else on
the road is not happy with it. Are temporary permits still
available to go get a safety? That's Rick Sabula who's asking.
10 day temporary plates are absolutely available.
(26:08):
Yes. Justin Abbott says hi, Sean, go.
Jays go. Are they playing?
Everyone's talking about the Jays.
I, I someone, I went to get Swiss Chalet and someone was in
there talking to the fire, fire guys who were also there waiting
for their food. And he was wearing a World
Series T-shirt when the Jays wonlast time and he's, he's really
(26:31):
hoping to send some positive energy.
I, I love the fact that everyone's all over it.
Matt wants to know what my thoughts are on motorcycle lane
filtering. Lane filtering different than
lane splitting? Now lane filtering and lane
splitting are not legal in anywhere in Canada.
However, I don't really have a problem with lane filtering if
it's done safely. But me having a problem with it
(26:52):
and it being illegal are two different things.
If you're if you're zipping through the the the the highway
between cars, you could be eligible for careless driving,
stunt driving, or criminal dangerous driving depending on
what the officer saw and how they interpreted your actions.
But lane filtering is when all traffic stops and you're
meandering through slowly. I would take no offense to it if
(27:14):
someone was just trying to move up a couple of car lengths, not
to become the the stopper for the guy who was on his phone and
is going to crash into the last vehicle.
You don't want to be the last vehicle on a motorcycle.
So I, I could, you can articulate that one to, I think
most reasonable officers and you'd be OK if you're, if you're
talking about someone who just wants to get to the front of the
line to move up and zip off the line.
(27:35):
I, I do have an issue with that.A license to ride is not a
license to, to, to, you know, piss everybody else off.
And that's what it is. You're just not playing nice in
the sandbox. Just because you can't doesn't
mean you should. Oh, bot has got something to
say. Hang on a second.
Oh, what do we got here? Oh, apparently I updated a whole
(27:56):
bunch of stuff and let's see what's going on.
Costa Gus says I oh, Costa Gus Kotuma is saying buy some
earplugs to Eva, who's complaining about the fact that
there's loud vehicles in her neighborhood, which I'm going to
tell you, Costa Gus, you're wrong.
(28:18):
You don't. The people who live there pay
taxes there, work there, have toenjoy their they're entitled to
enjoy their property. Don't need earplugs to enjoy
their community. You need to have a vehicle
that's compliant. And and you would if if someone
was playing classical music or the Bee Gees in your ear, you'd
be losing your mind. It's the equivalent to people
who don't want to hear your, your machine fart, your your
(28:40):
car's farting. It sounds stupid.
OK to do big speeding ticket. What's the biggest speeding
ticket you've ever given? I don't know.
That's from static static singleCam.
I have no idea what the fastest is.
I've taken lots of vehicles off the road for start driving.
Couldn't tell you what the fastest 1 was.
(29:02):
I can tell you one that really sticks out because it was a guy
on a Ninja Hayabusa. He was on a motorcycle or race
bike of some kind coming across the Lakeshore and I stopped and
I walked into the into his path and he slowed down and they
tried to run away. And I, I, I moved and it did not
arrive. But anyway, he he stopped
because he had to and it took his wheels and it took his
(29:25):
license and he got really upset because apparently he was a dump
truck driver and not having a license was going to really
impact his life. He should have thought of that
before he drove like a maniac. So that was more than double the
speed. So he was doing at least 120, I
think in a 60. OK, we got Costa says that
(29:51):
people who don't like cars that fart are what's wrong with the
world that we're living in. Come on, you got to be kidding
me. Really.
You're going to the world is wrong because we don't like the
sound of your exhaust fart Just think about it every time you
hear a car make that noise, it'sgas that should have been
(30:12):
consumed that was left unspent specifically to say hey, look at
me hey, look at me. I I need you to look at me
because I really need the the likes It's the equivalent of
asking for likes on TikTok Come on that's pathetic Anyway, next
says I have Crohn's disease. Can I still be a police officer?
Yeah, yeah. I mean, I I you need to be
(30:33):
cleared by a medical doctor thatif they were to, if you were to
say, if they were to refuse you,you could get a second opinion
by your own doctor and challengeit.
I I don't think there's anythingthat says you can't.
Like, I have friends on the service who have Crohn's.
They are members of the service, whether they're police officers
or other. If it doesn't interfere with
(30:55):
your ability to act in the capacity of a police officer, I
don't see why you'd have an issue.
But definitely talk to a recruiter.
I can't. Don't, don't remove yourself
from candidacy based on that talk.
Talk to a recruiter. Kunal says speed limit is 100 on
the highway. In real world I see people over
110. Which speed should we follow?
The speed limit is the legal limit.
(31:17):
People who go faster take the risk and earn the right to get a
ticket by virtue of their choices.
Just stay to the right. You you should be doing 100 and
100 zone. Stay to the right like I do.
That's it. That yellow CBR says thoughts on
lean filtering? You just missed us because I I
talked about it about 10 minutesago.
It's not legal lane lane now lane filtering different than
(31:38):
lane splitting. Again, just to rehash it for a
second. I have absolutely no issue with
someone who just you know, walkstheir bike or or or low RPM
scoots up to the you know, 2-3 car lengths ahead to avoid being
the bumper stop for the guy on his phone.
I do have an issue with people cutting through the whole pack
of traffic to be first and take off the light.
(32:00):
OK, for anyone who since Cole's saying the requirements are also
online, let's can I share it with you here?
I don't have this set up right now.
Hang on a second. I'll talk about something else
while I do this or will I? Will I?
Let's go tps.ca. That's not it's not responding.
(32:22):
OK, typing in the wrong window. I have two computers and 1
keyboard and today I'm having weird issues with the keyboard
not actually transferring from What's next.
So I'm not going to pull up the TPS site.
But if you go to www.tps.ca/careers you can
actually go and look at all the details for what you need to
(32:43):
know to apply for a police service to the Toronto Police
Service, which might be the bestpolice service.
And I'm totally biased when I say that, OK, Stephen Bell says
good morning, Sean. And this user says I got a
ticket for being on my phone on the first day they rolled out
the program. 220 bucks for my first ticket ever.
Never touched my phone again. And that is why enforcement
(33:05):
works. It's education through
enforcement. You get stung.
It hurts. By the way, 220 wasn't the first
day they issued it because it was in Ontario anyway.
It was like $175 originally. 220I think was the second phase and
then it went 615 after that if Iremember correctly, but
(33:26):
definitely was under 200 bucks the first time unless that was
with victim fines. No, I I'll look at the history
but definitely was under 200 bucks the first time.
Either way, I'm glad that it changed your life and made it
positive because that could saveyour life.
There's a great Traffic Safety campaign out of Queens.
I think it's Queensland, Australia that it's tack traffic
(33:47):
accident Commission. We don't say accident here.
It's a collision or a crash, notan accident, because oops, it's
an accident, then someone's responsible for whatever happens
in a crash. That said, there's a fantastic
campaign that TAC put out and itsaid the the lucky ones get
caught because if we change yourbehavior through enforcement,
might be your life that gets saved.
(34:09):
OK? Larkin, 600, says a friend of
mine just got a ticket for not going 90 in a 30.
His girlfriend has had gone intolabor.
OK, so he's guilty for stunt driving.
Now, whether they they impoundedhis vehicle, which is what they
should have done. Listen, I'm a dad of two.
(34:32):
Call an ambulance. That's what ambulances are for.
You don't do 90 to 30. There's no emergency.
And if there is an emergency, call medical assistance because
they can deliver. I have a friend of mine who used
to be a paramedic who's now a police officer who has delivered
at least one child at the side of the road.
You don't need to speed. You need to go to the closest
hospital and you need to be paying attention so that when
(34:53):
you have something going on, youmake appropriate plans and you
plan it in advance so you know what to do.
But 90 and a 30 is unacceptable,especially let's, let's, let's
forget the fact that we are talking about a community safety
zone and just talk about the fact that you're stressed out at
driving when you're about to become a dad.
(35:16):
You're not making good decisions, you're not the best
driver you can be. You're not alert and aware.
You're, you're focused on your, your partner who's about to give
birth and is having a way. Here's another thing.
Labor does not mean babies popping out.
People go to labor for 10 hours sometimes.
Like it's not put everyone's life at risk and the babies it
(35:36):
yeah, no, not cool. I, I absolutely support the fact
that he got a ticket. Maybe give the ticket after the
baby's born. Here's your birthday present.
I don't know what driver information is disclosed when
officers scan your license. So when you scan your driver's
license, it, it pulls up all your, we would call it tombstone
information, aim, date of birth, address and so on licensing.
(36:01):
Then then there's a subsequent check that's wants and warrants
like anything that that might come back associated with you.
There's nothing there's nothing super secret like we don't we
don't have, you know, interesting photos and
compromising locations. Nothing crazy that yellow CBR
says if I if I yo your what you mean if you're parked on private
(36:22):
property, can police officers still ticket you?
Yes, but depends what are we talking about?
What a fence. So if you're parked on private
property, but your offence was was occurred on public property,
then absolutely, that's just pulling over and issuing the
ticket for what you, you, you committed.
If it's related to stunt drivingor careless driving or a couple
of other offenses than private property, even conducting
(36:44):
yourself on private property is a ticketable offense.
So you can get charged for careless stunt driving and such
on private property. So that's the thing.
It depends on what we're talkingabout.
If you're talking about just nothaving A tag on your plate, no,
you like if you didn't have a license plate, if if their
observation wasn't on the road, then you wouldn't be eligible
for a ticket on private property.
(37:07):
OK, what we got here? Oh, I see, Larkin asked a number
of times and Tracy said stop spamming.
And I appreciate that I didn't see the spam.
I saw it twice now that I'm looking for it.
But anyway, Merrick says. Why do people always turn into
(37:28):
the far lane? What is this?
Why do people always turn into the far lane?
Is it not on tests anymore to turn into your own lane?
So this is what? Making a proper turn?
Yeah. You are not allowed to turn wide
and go to the wrong lane. So if you're in the curb lane
before you make your turn, you must be in the curb lane when
(37:48):
you finish your turn. Likewise, if you're in the left
turn lane, you got to be in the lane closest to the left and
left. There's multiple lanes.
There's multiple lanes, but you got to stay in your your
appropriate designated path. If not, it's an improper turn
eligible for a ticket. What is this yellow CBR says?
My friend got a ticket at his house for a tux plate on his
(38:09):
motorcycle. Didn't even go on the road.
Unless yeah, you can't get it. You can't.
You can't get a ticket for a tuxplate in Ontario if the vehicle
is not operating on the road. If they have evidence of the
vehicle operating on the road and that's why they got the tuck
to play ticket, it's different. Like did they just pull in and
they had evidence of the drivingon the road?
And but yeah, just just driving by looking for like, you can't
(38:32):
knock on the door saying, hi, I noticed you did play this tuck
that's not currently displayed correctly.
I'm giving you a ticket that wouldn't stand.
So there has to be some other information that maybe they're
not sharing with you. OK, Kyler says on tests, they're
telling. Oh, this is in response to
Merrick, who asked about turninginto the appropriate lane.
(38:52):
And Kyler says on tests, they'retelling us to stay in whatever
lane you started in. People just get lazy.
Yes, they're lazy is a big problem on the roads today.
Hey, my name is Shancha Promo, aformer police officer who talks
about Traffic Safety, traffic law on police stuff.
If you have questions about stuff and things drop in the
comments. You can also send voicemail by
going to ask a traffic cop.ca. And that's the thing.
That's the thing. In fact, I have the ability to
(39:14):
bring guests on the show. If you know somebody who wants
to be on the show and have conversation, let me know
because we can do this. We can bring you on through Zoom
and you can be on the show. The, the, the guesting thing
really is an after dark, late night thing as opposed to the
daytime version. But I'm open to anything.
If you, if you think you want tohave a chat, you let me know.
You can e-mail me at ask a traffic cop at, at gmail.com and
(39:35):
maybe we'll bring you in for an episode.
OK, moving along. Larcon wants to know if he can
fight the ticket. So this is the ticket about
stunt driving. You can fight anything.
It doesn't mean you're right, doesn't mean you have a defense.
Now they had their vehicle. I'm sure if they were doing 90
(39:58):
and 30, seized. Because if you lay that charge,
seizing is what happens next. If if they didn't seize it, then
they may have had it reduced to avoid seizing.
So we need to know more information.
But either way, you can fight anything you want, but whether
or not you'll be found guilty isa different story.
And it's possible that the I made a Boo Boo because gets them
(40:18):
off the ticket. It's possible for the court to
show leniency. It happens all the time.
Not specifically that story, butthe court's choosing not to
convict for one reason or another.
So they have as good a chance asany for getting off.
But are they guilty? Yeah, OK boom boom, boom.
(40:40):
I really have bad eyesight to become a cop Am I doomed?
I had laser eye surgery to improve my, my vision and then
many years later I started needing reading glasses, which
you're seeing on my face right now.
I don't need glasses to drive. I my, my, my, my distance vision
is great. It's just that, you know, the,
you know, up here I, I need to have some help.
So I, I wear a, a lens that doesboth and because I'm fanatical
(41:04):
about sharp vision, I, I did a touch up since I was getting the
reading glasses, I had them touch up the top.
So it's just that much sharper. But yeah, you can.
You, you would have to meet the 2040 uncorrected binocular
vision requirements to become a police officer.
And you have to be color. You have to have proper color
acuity, meaning you can't be color blind.
You have to be able to differentiate between green and
(41:25):
red, Derek says. Would you ticket a driver on
driving probation going 10 over? That one in driving probation
needs it to follow the law, evenmore so than somebody else.
So when I ticket them, if they're doing 10 over in a 30
zone, yeah, they're doing 10 over in 100 zone.
Probably not because they're probably going slower than
(41:46):
everybody else. I wouldn't pick them out of the
crowd. I'm looking into a PEI truck
mini truck. Oh are they illegal on 400
series highways? I don't know enough to tell you
yes or no. If it's certified as a motor
vehicle and is capable of doing a highway speeds then probably
but I don't know enough like you.
(42:07):
Like a 50CC motor used to be therequirements to be on the road,
but it let's see if I can find TEIAEI truck.
Oh, these media. I think I'm pretty sure I've
seen these on the highway. In fact, I know someone who has
1. He he might be here on TikTok
and I think you can. I think they're fine for their
(42:28):
own. If it's not like like they're
they're so cute. I don't think I'd fit in them.
A certain appliance guy online has one.
Let's see here our temporary print we talked about that Gypsy
(42:52):
and dog. If speed limit is 60 and I'm
doing 61, does that set off a camera or is there wiggle room?
There's absolutely wiggle room. Now people have told me that
they are people getting tickets for 6061 and a 60.
I don't buy that for a second. They're not they're they're just
they're not doing that. They they can Toronto it's at
least 10% over and that they don't tell you the exact number.
I interviewed the folks that runthe program when I was still on
(43:15):
the job and they don't tell you the number because they don't
want it to become the new unofficial speed limit.
Because if I told you it was 9 over, you do 8 1/2 over.
And to avoid getting caught you just always speed to that
thresholds. They don't tell you, but 10 and
12 over in a in a in a 50 is probably where you got to be to
trigger it just based on everything I've seen.
Now I have people claiming that they have tickets for less.
(43:38):
I don't know if that's true. I mean, I don't even know if
they're like, I don't know if they're lying, if they're if
they're misremembering, if they're manufacturing memories
like I don't, I don't buy that. Now, jurisdictions can put
whatever they want is the threshold.
But when I spoke in front of Vaughn City Council, their own
people said they didn't considerit speeding until at least 10
(43:59):
over for their study. I would assume that means that
they're also not issuing a ticket for anyone who's not
doing at least 10 over. So when people are saying how
dare you charge me for five over, I don't believe they were.
But definitive proof of it, I don't have it.
Maybe, maybe there were outliers.
Maybe there were systems that were malfunctioning.
(44:19):
I don't believe, by the way, I personally don't believe that
the camera should ticket you for, you know, 345 over.
I think that they should nail you to the wall for 10 over.
But 345 over now, because that'sautomated enforcement.
There should be a clear threshold.
It should enforce everybody, butI don't think it should be for a
kilometer over. Yeah, I don't think it's
reasonable. I got tickets on the water.
(44:44):
I tried disputing and it says ticket not found.
I got ticket on the water. I OK, What kind of ticket on the
water did you get? In any case, who issued it?
Talk to the issuing agency and and try and track it down, Find
the courthouse that it was issued to and that sort of jazz.
What did I get? I caught a little, A little
(45:04):
fruit fly or something and I, I opened my hand.
I caught it in my hand. I thought I squished and killed
it. I opened my hand and flew away a
little faster. Anyway, OK.
Oh, they did. OK.
So Larcon, this is the friend who whose other half was having
a baby and was doing 90 and a 60, and they seized this car.
(45:26):
So, yeah. So he got a hit.
He got the he got the ticket. It's it's a very serious
offense. Stunt driving comes with a, what
is it a 2 to $10,000 fine, a A1 to three-year driving
prohibition and up to six monthsin jail on the 1st conviction.
It's a serious offense. And maybe they get a reduction,
(45:46):
maybe they don't all luck of thedrop, and I mean luck of the
drop in like it's not a standardthing that if you're having a
baby, you get out of jail. I got tickets.
I tried disputing and it says ticket, not that we talked about
that. Yeah, if you're looking online
you're not trying hard enough. Call them.
What happens when a driver drives with an expired license
(46:06):
in Canada? Means they are not a licensed
driver. We talked about that earlier
when somebody else asking. What about a six lane that isn't
divided? Doesn't matter in Ontario.
In Canada doesn't matter. Doesn't matter the number of
lanes. If it's a divided highway or an
undivided Hwy. it's requires youto stop.
Just same thing As for the fire or ambulance. 6 lanes are
irrelevant. Apparently some places in the
(46:30):
states six lanes would make it relevant and bot responded and
said there are places in Americathat are 6 lanes and they make
them all stop. This is talking about and then
and despite the fact that no child is crossing the road.
That's the comment from bot it. It really doesn't matter.
They could have to cross the road.
(46:51):
I don't I'm not picking the locations of where school buses
stop. I think there are places that
that seem ludicrous, but in somejurisdictions, in some
locations, it's what they do andpeople just need to follow the
same rules. When we make the rules
conditional based on a number ofthings, we put people at risk
because people can't seem to follow basic rules.
When we complicate the rules, they follow no rules because
(47:13):
everyone's like, but I thought it was, listen, how many people
grew up thinking that it was illegal to drive barefoot?
It's people misunderstanding rules.
There is no rule, at least not here.
Shoes are optional. Not a good idea, but shoes are
optional. We talked about the.
Oh, yeah, we talked about this. OK, how about a highway?
(47:38):
You know, we talked about that. It looks like the government's
only concerned with driving and not the economy.
This is from Jesus the Hermit. Looks like the government is
only concerned with driving and not the different sections of
government. So police are interested in
safety, Rd. engineers interestedin safety.
Government is not generally interested in safety.
(48:01):
Look at the government that's getting rid of automated
enforcement cameras. Premier Ford must get rid of
them. Now.
There's allegations that membersof his cabinet or members of his
office got nailed for a whole bunch of tickets that could be
influencing it. You got Mayor Del Duca who took
calls from people who got a whole bunch of tickets.
And they really, really don't have the money to pay it.
And therefore they're going to catch them a break because they,
I mean, his closing remarks the day that he cancelled the
(48:22):
program was like, we want you toknow we have your back.
But I heard that. And what I hear when I
translated into, you know, cop talk is we want you to know that
we don't care about these laws and we want you to, to slow
down, but we don't want to enforce it.
So you actually slow down. We want you to, you know, not
feel like we're coming after your wallet, but that like, it's
such crap. Like if you slow down, just
(48:44):
follow the laws anyway. I it's so ridiculous.
This concept is attack on automated enforcement.
People are really offended by being held accountable for just
breaking those silly little laws.
Why even have the laws if we're not going to enforce them
properly? Mr. BMA says 10 over is normal.
10 over is illegal slow G35 saysI have 5% window tint all the
(49:05):
way around and there's nothing you can do about it.
There's nothing I can do about it.
You're an idiot. Do about it.
I'm not a cop anymore. I, I don't, I, I, I, it's not my
job to do anything about it. Now your vehicle is modified.
Your insurance company, in the event that you have a collision
or just finds out about your window tint, could choose not to
insure you. You could be well have your
(49:26):
insurance cancelled because yourvehicle is unsafe.
And if I pulled you over with 5%window tint, which means 95%
window or light visible light isnot being, is being restricted
from passing through. You know, 5% of the light
getting through your window. That's unsafe for motorists.
It's unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists.
Your vehicle should not be on the road.
And if I was a police, police officer pulling you over, I
(49:47):
would remove your plates and you'd get towed home or you peel
the plate, you peel. I I might give you the
opportunity to peel them off, but it's it's really, it's
really funny when people go, yeah, you know, na, na, na Boo
Boo. That's what he's saying.
He's he's five years old. CC1015 says a cop told me I can
do up to 13, but anything higheris a no, no.
(50:12):
What they said what what did they say there?
There used to be a saying like 5is OK, but 10 you're mine or
something like that. Every cop has their own
threshold for what they're goingto enforce.
What is is I had a friend who who's no longer with us, but he
was like, if you're not stunt driving, I don't care.
Like if you're stunt driving, he's going to, he's going to
take your car. If it's less than that, somebody
(50:33):
else is going to deal with it. Because he was a guy that that
hammered the hard, the hardcore speeders.
His threshold was different. Not because he he was OK with
less. It's just he wanted to get the
big, the big bad guys, and if hewas going to invest his time, he
wanted to make him meaningful. That doesn't mean that the
people who were speeding less were less dangerous or less
(50:55):
illegal. Alex says if one drives a pickup
truck with commercial plates, but the weight is under 3000
kilos, does the driver have to have ABAC equal to 0?
Is he still driving a commercialvehicle or is there an
exemption? Yeah, if the vehicle is a
commercial vehicle for commercial purposes, I imagine
you would and I, and I don't know it's for certain because
I've never enforced it. I imagine you would have to
(51:16):
maintain a zero BAC. If, however, your commercial
plated vehicle is a vehicle thatis is designated for personal
use, not for commercial purposes, then I would say
you're not in a commercial vehicle.
Just 'cause you have black plates doesn't mean you're
commercial. It just means you're driving a a
vehicle that qualifies for thoseplates.
(51:37):
So a pickup truck not, not not avehicle, not a commercial
vehicle by virtue of being a pickup truck.
A tow truck is a commercial vehicle because it's a tow
truck. So a lot has to do with what it
is and what it's being used for. What we got here.
Boom, boom, boom. I applied for the OPP, but I
wanted to do police auxiliary. Can I skip the beep test?
(51:59):
The actual police? I don't know if if if auxiliary
police has anything to do with the OR if the beep test has
anything to do with the auxiliary police program.
It may or may not. It's up to you have to talk to a
recruiter as to what the requirements are.
OK, I talked about this. Charlie says I believe they
should up the double highway to 120.
(52:22):
That's what it is in Ireland. It was great.
Listen, I have no problem with them changing the speed limit.
Many of the highways in the GTA have increased the speed limit
or sections of the speed limit to 110.
It's it's almost like it's such a small increase.
It doesn't really bother me. I'm not saying you can't speed
if the speed limit is the speed. What I'm trying to say is you
(52:45):
can't go above the posted speed limit.
That's my whole point. If it says 120 to 120, if the if
the learned people who decide what is safe is is 120, then
it's 120. I'm not going to argue with it.
I'm not a scientist. I'm not a scholar of of physics.
I know that the from a cop perspective, the faster you go,
(53:07):
the longer it takes to stop and the more the damage and injury
are are are related to that extra force that's going to be
applied to your body when you crash.
So slower is better and safer always.
It just is. But if the learned folks decide
that they think it's OK to go faster than they're the ones who
make the rules. My issue is people who take
(53:29):
those rules and say they don't have to follow them, but they do
have to follow them. So if they change the law, cool,
they don't change the law. Don't break the law, just follow
the law. So simple.
What happens if you lose your registration slip?
Well, you go and pay 10 or 15 bucks and get a new one printed.
If you get stopped and can't surrender it because you don't
(53:49):
know where it is, you're going to get a ticket, $110.00 for
failing to surrender your registration, $60.00 for failing
to surrender proof of insurance,$110.00 for failing to surrender
your driver's license. We talked about that.
Are truck drivers allowed to camp the middle lane in a lane
in a three lane highway? When you say Camp Vincent, what
(54:09):
do you mean? What is camp by your standards?
Because they're allowed to driveand the fastest they're allowed
to drive is the speed limit. So is camping the speed limit?
What do you stand? What do you consider camping?
I need to know. Yeah.
In the meantime, I got a quote. I got a flag.
(54:30):
Oh, it's Nicholas says he'd liketo be a guest on the show, but
he's, he's worried about on the,on the one hour mark that I
might crack his skull because #cracking skulls.
He's got a, he's got an interesting perspective.
What time is it now? Well, 4 minutes, 4 minutes.
(54:55):
Cool. And Akela's building a studio.
He says he'll be, he'll be able to join the show.
Awesome. Oh, Jan says it would be
interesting if Ford releases thestatistics on numbers of
tickets, Nick, but I can't speakanymore.
It would be interesting if Ford releases the stats of numbers of
(55:16):
tickets given for kilometers over.
If you mean by automated enforcement cameras, yeah,
you're never going to see that Toronto.
You can actually go look at thisdata in Toronto.
Like I, I downloaded all, all sorts of wild stuff, stats of
how many tickets were issued in Toronto because they have an
open portal and it explains why, like the number of tickets in
the area, why they move them when they move them, that sort
(55:38):
of thing. Going back as long as they've
been tracking really interestingstuff.
I did a whole, I was writing thearticle for the Globe and Mail.
I, I really dug in and, and got some great stuff.
It's amazing what you can find if you actually look.
Hint hint. Let's see here.
Oh bot says I didn't get any notice my license was expiring
(55:59):
this year. You can renew online in 5
minutes. Yes, now, in addition to they
don't mail anything anymore unless because your license,
your license plates renew automatically, but you can sign
up to have when you it's one system for your health card,
your driver's license and your license plates to get renewal
notifications by text, by e-mail, you have to sign up for
(56:21):
it, though you have to opt in. Alpha says what you want to say
about the Wally. I, I, I don't, I don't know what
you're what you're getting at Diva says I have a warning for
forgetting to put on new insurance slip in same fine.
I think 60. Is it 60 or 65?
(56:43):
I think it's 60. In any case, that that's for not
having your insurance slip with you.
But you still have to prove thatyou have insurance.
Otherwise you're at 5 to $25,000fine.
If you're, if you're driving without insurance and you get
charged for that if the officer believes you don't have
insurance. So very often when I pull
someone over, I'd say, OK, show me you got it.
You got Internet banking. Pull up.
Show me a payment to an insurance company.
Like, show me something, OK? We talked about that with
(57:10):
technology, safety and car of cars and roadways today.
I think speed limits are not reviewed.
Updated more. As for drummer Cody W.
So yes, technology and safety ofcars and roadways has gotten
better. The problem is the fleshy thing
attached to the gas pedal and the steering wheel.
The drivers are not better. They're worse, Far, far worse.
(57:32):
You're relying on technology to keep people safe.
It protects the people inside the the the cage with the
airbags. It does not protect the people
who are out on the road or an older vehicles that don't have
the technology lowest common denominator.
That way we we're having people who are getting seriously
injured, seriously injured and and unfortunately UN alive bot
(57:55):
says under 80. It's 30.
I thought that's 40 kilometers over on roads that have speed
limits 80 or under 80 and then it's 40 over for above.
Oh, hang on one second, please. Oh little voicemail call back.
(58:16):
It's just the bank. What do cops think about
modified? We talked about that evil.
We got this. OK, what are the what are the
what are the demerit points to drive a semi truck in the left
lane if ticketed? Oh, I don't know.
Remember, I was a Toronto copper, not a, not an OPP guy.
Who would be the the people who would pull you over for that
(58:38):
sort of thing? Am I looking up?
I'm looking up. Big wig, big wheels, left lane.
Let's see Prohibited use of leftlane 85.
(59:03):
No points, $110 No points in thelooks of it.
Yeah, that's who it is. Subject to subsection 2, no
person shall operate a commercial motor vehicle or any
combination of a commercial motor vehicle and a towed
vehicle that exceeds 6 1/2 meters in length in the left
lane or where the left lane is being designated as a high
occupancy vehicle lane in the lane adjacent, blah, blah, blah,
(59:24):
blah, blah. No points.
User lots of numbers says no, you are not justified to do that
and you should get your license revoked by doing this.
Snitching. What?
I don't know what they're talking about.
They make no sense. Just making no sense.
(59:47):
Charlie says I got to take it once for talking on my phone in
2013. Haven't touched it since.
Good go. You just lost all credibility by
saying you did that. Oh, I think they're saying that
I speed up to get a, a license plate for an impaired driver.
And they, they, that I, that I, I went beyond the speed limit to
(01:00:10):
do that. So I've lost all I think that's
what they're saying. I think that's what they're
saying. And I would, I would disagree.
Is there really anything? Is this, is there any?
Is there really a thing where ifyou follow the flow of traffic,
you won't get ticketed? If everyone's doing 110 or 120
and everyone's going the same speed, you're probably not
(01:00:30):
getting probably not getting a ticket.
Could you get a ticket? Sure.
But chances are nobody's pullingyou over for doing 1/10, 1:20 if
you're if everyone's doing 100 and you're doing 120.
Yeah. And I've seen video of people
being pulled over and the guys like how how can you do?
Everyone knows it's OK to do 120and it's like, no, it's not OK
to do 120. But will an officer pull you
(01:00:51):
over? Unlikely, but you run the risk
on your own. How fast can I drive with AG one
this speed limit while supervised by a qualified
driver? Opinion on mud tires on the
road? They're not effective.
They're just not intended for the road.
(01:01:11):
Truly mud tires, truly off road tires are not really intended
for other use. If you're talking about an all
terrain tire, they don't. They're not necessarily as good
as a road tire, but it could be all terrain.
And they're really noisy too. I've driven some recently, some
amazing off road vehicles and I,I don't think, I don't think
(01:01:33):
that that those tires are, are good.
Like when I got when I changed my tires recently, I, I chose to
go with a, a Rd. strictly Rd. tire because I'm, I've got a
vehicle that's 4 wheel drive andI'm not doing all terrain in
the, in the winter. I put winters on.
So I want the best tire for the road conditions I actually use.
Oh my goodness, we got a whole bunch of stuff coming.
(01:01:56):
If you're watching, you don't already follow me.
Please do. And please also find me on
Facebook and YouTube. Follow me there too.
Voice over cop on all channels. Trying to bring the numbers up
on Facebook so we can bring the Facebook audience into the
conversation. I always had interesting
conversations with people from Facebook.
It's a different demographic andsometimes they bring some
interesting questions. OK, let me scroll back because I
lost some stuff and I, I no longer have to run afterwards.
(01:02:18):
So I can go a little longer and ready, ready about four minutes
into the next hour. Somebody says I go 300 on the
highway. Sure you go, Jay.
Sure. That's I'm sure that's you
English under score police says hi officer.
I used to wonder where your livecontent went and now I got you
back on my for you page. Awesome.
I appreciate you. Yeah, I, I, I retired from
policing a just over a year ago.So now voice over cop is the
(01:02:41):
channel. That's my personal account as
opposed to the traffic services account, which is unfortunately
being abandoned by by the service.
They're not doing anything with it.
OK, what is this clip that says Sean Shapiro in the Big 25?
We left you in 2022 when you retired 2022?
(01:03:05):
I didn't leave until like 2024. What are you talking about?
OK, we talked about that. People will stomp on their gas
to get in front of you and then drive under the limit.
Those people are not OK. But yes, I know exactly what
you're talking about. People who seem to speed up just
(01:03:25):
to get in front of you so they can say I win and then do
nothing with it. Eva, you're very welcome.
Doug says what's the best way todeal with tailgaters who want to
speed but never attempt to pass you?
I drive my own drive. They are unhappy with it.
It's a them problem. If they're tailgating, I will
sometimes slowly let off the gasso I slow down slowly and then
(01:03:49):
they'll pass or they will just deal with it.
If they hit you, it's on them. I have dash cameras that are
front and back. I'm not worried about my
activity. Kyler says that when speeding,
don't be the front and don't be the back.
That's a lot of it. Don't be the back and don't be
the back. Sorry.
Don't be the front or the very back and you're fine.
That that's their advice, Sweet Bulchaka.
(01:04:14):
I think I pronounced that OK. Do you think Dougie will get rid
of ASE even though the office, his office commenced the
problem? He certainly seems to be wanting
to get rid of it. I, I think that there might be
some lawsuits and, and courts trying to prevent them from
doing that. I think there's, there's a
tremendous amount of evidence that it's good and works.
(01:04:35):
And I put out a video. I said, if it really, if you
think you can really control speed with speed bumps and
flashing signs, put it up, leavethe cameras going, put up the
speed bumps, put up all your traffic calming measures.
And if it doesn't take another picture.
You know it worked. But I bet you dollars to Donuts
that they will not prevent speeding because although people
(01:04:57):
will go over the bump slowly, they accelerate like a bat out
of hell till the next bump. And I know this because a buddy
of mine had a camera in front ofhis house, which was in front of
a school and they had speed bumps on the street and the
camera was going off non-stop. Speed bumps are just temporary
measures tickets. You get enough of them.
You you got to learn you got to hope that the person who gets it
(01:05:18):
is not so slow in the brain thatthey don't figure out that
they're doing something that's costing them money and they
should change their behavior. User Yeah, they they they
reiterated that they said sayingyou speed just a snitch on other
drivers makes you lose all credibility here.
No dumb, dumb. It was an impaired driver
speeding to get information on an impaired driver is absolutely
(01:05:40):
speeding to justify for a justified reason.
In my opinion. From my perspective, and you can
disagree that's fine. Losing all credibility.
I don't think so do do do the Rummer Cody wants to know what
my thoughts are on on upcoming autonomous vehicles.
I think it's going to solve the speeding issue.
I I think that that we need a lot of vehicles that can't speed
(01:06:03):
to to actually slow everybody down be roving speed limits.
What is this Jacqueline browses.I swipe past and recognize the
voice and swipe back and was like, Hey, there's Sean Shapiro.
Hi, Jacqueline. How you doing?
Good to see you. OK, HTA 180 just refers to
(01:06:24):
trailers and boats being towed. That's another ham.
What's going on? Ham man VE 3 THW VE three VOC
and yes, the great kazoo. OK, Ms. VIP22 says Harley's come
(01:06:48):
out-of-the-box so loud. So.
So there's that. You're wrong.
Harleys are quiet. Annoyingly quiet.
You have to put aftermarket pipes on before you even notice
them. They're like Hondas.
They they, they're so quiet. People think they're loud
because nobody buys a Harley andthen takes it home.
They buy a Harley, chop the pipes and get the dealership to
install aftermarkets or take thebaffles out like immediately
(01:07:11):
after. Harleys are not loud by design.
They can't be. They have to meet regulations.
Now, once they've left the the location, they probably get
modified and they're no longer legal.
That's a different story. Can cops see the tickets I beat
in court? They're not doing the kind of
(01:07:32):
the ones you beat. No, they're not doing that kind
of map. They could see all the charges
and then they could figure out, but that would be work that no
one's got time for. I used to wonder, OK, we talked
about that. Oh, Kyler says.
I've only gotten one at 3:00 AM with nobody there.
(01:07:53):
A ticket during school times. No.
People use the community all thetime.
It's unsafe to speed in community zones all the time.
People walk their dogs. People go jogging.
It's a community safety zone fora reason, because there's a
community there and they deserveto be safe from you.
Don't speak. OK, next.
(01:08:15):
We talked about your your your situation earlier.
If you want more information, byall means voice over cop at
Gmail. Feel free to reach out.
WRX says cars started off that way.
We're crying about it now. I'm not sure what we're talking
about. Can we skip a scale with
commercial truck by taking otherroute?
(01:08:35):
I don't know enough to tell you.Apparently I'm having some some
transmission issues. Decepticons forever says my my
feed is is freezing on Instagram.
Oh VE 3 THW says. I guess my other comment got
(01:09:00):
overlooked. Is there a section in the HTA
that prevents people from ridingin a towed vehicle by a tow
truck? Yes you can't.
You can't ride in a tow. You can't, you can't ride in a
towed RV. You can't, you cannot ride in a
trailer in a towed vehicle wouldbe the same situation.
Tow truck can take you up front, but they can't put you on the
back. Now, I can't cite the section,
but I can tell you that it's notlegal.
(01:09:26):
Nicholas Rizzi says you ignored a call from the bank.
Oh, Sean, they can be getting robbed.
And let's hope that that that would be sub optimal at best
because it's my bank and that's where my money is.
But that's funny that that sounds good.
You got some funny. You got some funny left.
Nicholas says can we do a watch party for after dark?
(01:09:46):
Let's watch Rambo first blood. You defend the cops.
I'll defend John around watch party sounds interesting.
We could I wonder what technology we required or we
actually have to go rent something.
Anyway, what's the fastest I've ever gone in a vehicle fast?
I've gone very fast. I, I've, you know, in a police,
if you remember, police are allowed to, to speak.
(01:10:09):
I've, I've been involved in vehicle escorts, dignitary
escorts where I went as fast as I could go on a Harley on a
closed Rd. because we were closing the road.
So, and even then that's not as fast as what most people would
think is fast like 170 on a motorcycle.
Legally, is it that fast? Not compared to the people doing
(01:10:30):
300 in some cars. Thank you for the feedback.
Apparently the tube is working, Tian says.
There we go. Tan says.
People complain that ASC works 24/7 even when there's no
school, but they have no problemwith speed bumps, which will
also be there 24/7. The reality is people just don't
(01:10:50):
want to be told what to do and don't want to have fines in
place and don't like being told no, and that's what it is.
Kyler wants to know why we're not ticketing left lane campers.
Because there's so many people doing other dumb stuff that
that, that that's like so low onthe list in my opinion.
And what is a camper? What is someone who's camping?
(01:11:12):
Are they the ones doing the speed limit in the left lane?
I have no problem with someone doing the speed limit in the
left lane. Now technically you should stay
to the right because there's so many dodo's who want to go
faster and they will make unsafemaneuvers.
I was quoted in the in the, in the.
Well, thanks on the newspaper article, you know, a number of
articles, but one in particular that talked about the fact that
(01:11:33):
I said, listen, the reality is we want you to stay to the right
because the the speeder who's aggressive is going to pass on
the right and it's going to be unsafe.
But just no one should speed. And then someone made comments
saying if nobody speeds, we're all going to be sitting in
traffic. And I'm like, you really don't
understand how this works. Speeding actually causes all
(01:11:54):
sorts of issues. You're slowing down, you're
speeding up. It's just not good for anybody.
Yeah, you don't get anywhere anyfaster.
Not not in an environment like Toronto or any, any kind of
built up community. James.
Lazy Chuck says I'll make my trucks and cars loud all the
time. Good for you.
(01:12:16):
Enjoy your tickets. You're eligible for them.
You should get them. I mean, you're working hard to
get them. Someone should give you some
attention. SQ ticket for 200 kilometers an
hour, but CarMax speed is 186. Can I contest?
You can contest anything you want.
Doesn't mean you're going to win.
They're going to show how they measure you, your speed.
And just because your speedometer says 186 does not
(01:12:37):
mean that you were doing only 186.
If you pin the needle. But but you can contest
anything, right? See see how your evidence plays
out. What is your thoughts on poor
quality of commercial drivers onOntario highways?
My issue is all drivers on commercial highways are a
problem. We just don't have the training
that people need. We don't have the quality of
(01:12:57):
driver like they have in Europe. It's because our standards are
very low. It's too easy to get a driver's
license here. If someone's trying that hard to
pass you, trying to stop them isdangerous.
What's the context of this? No one should stop you from.
No one should be trying to stop someone from passing.
In fact, it's illegal. Like if you try actively to stop
(01:13:18):
someone from passing, that's stunt driving.
Deuce was wild 32. You're the second person that
mentioned this to me. Someone said sent me a video
from from a friend who said the gun buyback program is being
cancelled. Outstanding.
That is outstanding. That's that single thing.
(01:13:38):
That buyback program has single handedly made me lose faith in
in that government. Like that one concept of
attacking legal firearms owners in in in an attempt to pretend
to go after criminals to, to make the streets safer.
Because the people who get theirtheir background check done
(01:13:59):
every 24 hour, criminal history check every 24 hours, they're
the big threats. They're going to take all their
stuff away. No, that is so scary.
And if this goes through, this country is in big trouble.
So if they are cancelling it, that's a very, very positive
news because I can't, I can't. How do you, it's sort of like,
(01:14:21):
like like Premier Ford and, and mayors like Del Duca who are
saying that they should, they, they want to get rid of their,
or in Del Duca's case, he did cancel the ASC program.
You know, we have something thatactually slows people down
that's proven to work. Let's cancel it.
And then the reverse is true where you have the Liberal Party
(01:14:42):
saying let's take away guns fromlegal gun owners to stop
criminal activity. Makes no sense.
Yeah, why stress? What is this?
OK, one, one to 10 rage bait. Dude, outside of school hours,
(01:15:06):
those things are cut. No, and I disagree.
And Greg Marshall disagrees too.Who responded to Kyler saying
that people use school property outside of school zones?
100% Ben's post says hi. Hi fencepost true Canadian.
What are the we talked about this right I have AI have
sticker at bottom of windshield that's small and under my car's
(01:15:28):
screen. Is it legal?
Bottom of windshield? If you're if you're putting
stickers anywhere inside the area swept by the windshield
wiper, that's usually where I'd say is an issue.
If it's outside of that, I don'thave an issue with it.
Think about it, every time you get your oil changed, they put a
sticker, it's outside of the area swept by your windshield
wiper. Let's see here, Kyler, it's
always safer to go slow, even ifyou're the only vehicle
(01:15:50):
involved. Just parked cars on the road,
there's all sorts. Collisions occur all the time.
People are involved, sometimes they're not.
It's all about safety, even if that safety is involving you.
Kyler goes on to say that money grabs.
In their opinion, there's betterways to slow people up without
making money. What is your offense about
making money? If someone wants to break the
(01:16:11):
law, they should pay. They should absolutely pay.
I think we should put wireless Bluetooth printers in every
single car and the ticket shouldjust spit out of the dash right
away. Why should you be able to break
the law? The law is there 24/7.
It's enforced. It does not take a vacation.
The law doesn't change at 3:00 AM.
Why should you be able to get away with it?
And why are you OK with a speed bump but not a ticket?
(01:16:32):
Don't speed and it's not an issue.
I have more of an issue with a speed bump.
Why do I have to have a speed bump damage my car?
When and repeated speed bump useis damage to your vehicle.
It's wear and tear that's unnecessary making it wear wear
out faster. It's also being paid for by all
residents. The the the maintenance, the
damage to the road, the the the the issues with snow plowing the
(01:16:54):
the slower response with fire and ambulance and police.
The risk to passengers in in ambulances were being
transported out of an area with speed bump.
That is something that affects everybody.
But Dum Dums who speed only get tickets if they speed.
Why is this hard to for everyoneto to to wrap their head around?
(01:17:14):
1 only targets people who break the law.
The other stuff targets and costmoney to all taxpayers and all
operators on the road. All drivers, why would, why
would anyone say, oh, if you can't speed, nobody can?
No, nobody can speed. What?
I don't, I don't. It breaks my brain to know why
people are so offended by being held accountable.
And then on the flip side, they're like, I'm OK if a cop
(01:17:36):
gives me a ticket, but not if the machine does it.
I mean, I, I do get it to some degree.
They, they like it because they know the odds of getting caught
by a police officer are tiny. They know that, you know,
there's, there's, there's maybe one cop in an area and he's not
looking at them at that moment. And they think they're, they,
they got a chance. So they'll roll the dice And
then when they get the ticket, they roll the dice again.
(01:17:56):
But man, computers, how do you dispute that evidence?
You can't. That's, that's the problem.
They don't want to get caught. Just don't speed.
Go to the track. You want to go fast or leave
early or, you know, listen to XMradio.
Find a way to enjoy the time in the behind the wheel.
Boom boom boom. The holy Roger, the holly Roger.
(01:18:22):
Not the holy Roger, the holly Roger.
I have a question about advancedgreen lights.
If I have an advanced green and the opposing traffic has a right
yield lane, who has the right ofway if they have to yield?
If they have to yield, you have the right of way as the person
with the advanced green. The green has the go, the yield
is yield to you. Boom.
(01:18:44):
I watched something interesting the other day.
It was like a screen from Grand Theft Auto.
A cop had his sirens on and was following a car.
The car was a dealership car andwas like 500 meters from the
dealership. The car turned into the
dealership and went into the garage and the police just
turned off the siren and drove away.
That's why all that really does sound like a video game where
(01:19:06):
where if you get far enough away, the the the nine, What is
it called? The the NPC Non, what is that
called? Non player character MPC.
They just lose interest. Yeah, I, I I couldn't speak to
why that happened, but that's funny and sad.
(01:19:29):
OK, it's 1:20. It's an hour and 20 minutes.
I don't know about that 120 No, an hour and 21 minutes into the
show that was going to only go for an hour.
That is now going a little longer.
What only savagery says. Believe it or not, there's AUSA
Street legal jet propelled motorcycle.
(01:19:50):
Would it be legal Ontario? I don't know if it was licensed
for Ontario, maybe. I think, I think it's unlikely,
but maybe I'm going to go with unlikely just from noise
perspective that jet would be sonoisy.
It would be would for that purpose.
I think alone we would not be. Trucking Allen says, I want to
(01:20:12):
know why nothing is being done to people who put these bright
LED lights in their cars and trucks are blinding other
motorists. If they're, if they're
misdirected, if they're being directed improperly, they're
there's, there's charges for that.
If it's the wrong color temperature, if it's the wrong
color, if it's not projecting white light, then there's
something that can be done for that.
Just having bright lights, not specifically illegal.
(01:20:35):
There's I, I understood because the definition for headlights is
something over 300 candela. But we, we do have better
lighting than ever before. We're used to like if you look
at the old incandescent yellowish bulbs from the 80s
when I grew up, like I, I don't even know how people see the
road. So I like bright lights, but I
don't want them directed in my eyes.
They should be directed properlyon the ground.
(01:20:57):
And there is a charge for misdirected headlights.
OK, 95 and an 80. Do you have a high chance of
getting pulled over? Yeah. 15 over?
Sure you do. You're breaking the law now.
It depends on the officer. There's no guarantee you're
going to get pulled over. 15 over.
(01:21:18):
Some cops don't want to bother for 15 over.
And trucking island bright LED white lights, again, the
problem. OK, so let's back it up.
If they're factory lights, they meet the requirements legally.
If they're aftermarket white lights from Amazon, they're
probably not legal or probably not great and probably not
maintaining the appropriate voltage.
And there's other sense of issues, but misdirected, it'd be
(01:21:41):
the only reason why it'd be illegal.
And and like when you say they're not misdirected, if
they're if they're not misdirected, they shouldn't be
in your eyes, they shouldn't be blinding you.
And if they're factory, they're absolutely legal because they
wouldn't be able to be installedotherwise.
It's the aftermarket ones that are the biggest issue.
(01:22:02):
And a lot of those are not projecting properly forward.
They're they're LED that are projecting outward.
So it's like a stick with, with bulbs all the way around and
they're projecting outward and hitting the reflector at all
sorts of weird angles. So they, they, it's different
than a proper projector bulb andonly this average.
Yes, it totally got you with thejet turbine, but the drivetrain
(01:22:24):
is a is a is a jet blower or is it a turbine engine that drives
the chain like a helicopter would?
Is it propulsion through throwing air?
So I want to know you got a link?
Send me a link. Ask a traffic hop@gmail.com.
(01:22:45):
Why do modified cars get pulled over so much when cars that are
falling apart don't I? I don't.
I think the the biggest issue is, well, first of all, I think
both do. Just because you don't see it
doesn't mean it's not happening.I'm assuming you have a modified
car when you get noticed becauseyou get pulled over whatever
draws the eye. Think about a cat or a dog,
whatever's moving fast, whateveris colorful, it's noticed first.
(01:23:06):
OK, color is not a good example because I think dogs and cats
are color blind. But motion is what's seen.
Noise is what gets attention. So if your vehicle is modified
and is noisy, you're going to get the attention you don't
want. If it's, you know, something
that looks fast, someone's paying attention.
You know, people often make these cars to get attention.
(01:23:27):
They just don't want the attention from the police.
The, the crap car is probably not going fast, probably not
doing very well. But if it's falling apart, it's
absolutely. I used to pull over 18 Wheelers
that were, you know, clearly having issues.
And I'd call a CVSA inspection and they'd do an inspection
there, there and take it off theroad, take it out of service.
(01:23:48):
Yeah, I'd noticed it all. I took cars that were smoking.
I had copious amounts of smoke coming out of the exhaust.
I pulled them over, but they probably weren't breaking the
the law. Trucking, Allen says.
Thanks. Catch you later.
Take care, my friend. OK, Randy, Edie said.
Or sorry, Ray, Edie. I somehow made Ray and Edie into
Randy. Don't ask me why.
(01:24:08):
I sell insurance for a living and keep seeing the handheld
device tickets. Really increases insurance.
Oh yeah, 100%. It is clearly an indicator that
that person's a high risk driver.
We know that's that that distracted driving is as high
risk as impaired driving, but it's more prevalent, so it's
(01:24:30):
more risky. You're not looking at the road
for periods of time and you're just getting caught once, but
you're always doing it. We know it's an addiction.
I wouldn't want to insure someone who has that or I put
them in the same kind of group as an impaired driver.
Expensive yeah don't don't use your phone is bad.
(01:24:53):
If I got pulled over and I'm driving my friend's car he got
insurance in the car, but I don't what HP what happens
that's from Mulham. You get a ticket, and if you get
the, it's your insurance or yourlicense that gets impacted, not
his insurance. So if you're driving the car and
there's no collision, there's noclaim against it.
(01:25:14):
Well, his insurance isn't going to go up for your ticket.
If you have insurance or choose to get insurance, your driving
record determines how that's going to go.
Makes sense. Oh, Jay Leno's bike.
True Canadian. Asking again about demerit
points for semi trucks. There's no demerit points for
(01:25:36):
driving in that lane that I could find.
Ray says let everyone know that cell phone tickets are major
violation will result in really high insurance.
I, I hope they already know thatthere's, there's 3 or 4
categories of insurance. According to insurance.
The what the heck is it called brain, brain moment where it no
(01:26:01):
functioning. If you are, if you, if you get a
minor ticket and a minor could be driving with no insurance
card or forgetting your license at all, that still counts.
It's just, it's, it's a, it's a minor, it's a non, a non moving
violation. It has a very low score.
Something like speeding or careless.
They all go up the chain. Well, we know that that cell
(01:26:21):
phones are way high on that list.
Oh interesting. Raj says it was just on that.
Thank you Raj. Why are left wing campers not
ticketed? They are all Kyler's on this.
OK so we we talked about that a little earlier.
(01:26:44):
D1 FB eighters says I got a speeding ticket for doing 40
over on a road with no posted speed limit.
Is it fightable 40 over? You can fight whatever you want,
but you you done did it like 40 over.
It's a if it's unposted, there'sno speed limit posted.
That's either A-40 or A50 in most jurisdictions that's a 50.
(01:27:05):
So you were doing 90 and a 50 iswhat I'm thinking.
Unless you were doing unless youwere in an 80 zone because you
were on a rural unposted Hwy. So that would be 80.
So now you're you're still a 40 over is just is a stunt.
Where did you get stunned or didyou what?
I want to know what the actual speed limit was.
(01:27:26):
I want to know black Lion Scott says what it look like.
I don't know what we're talking about.
If you get and then lots of dotssays if you get caught stunt
driving 40 over on a speed Cam. Do cops show up at your door and
suspend you? No, if you do there is a
(01:27:47):
threshold. I wonder there's a case with
this and it actually got thrown out but they have to serve you
for for a non. I think it was 50 over but it
wasn't. They can't they couldn't take
your car and and suspend you. As far as I can tell since it's
an owner responsibility charge they don't know the drivers.
(01:28:09):
They can't suspend your license, but they do have to serve you
since it's a different documentation.
The Dubs wants to know if a motorcycle with one rider is
allowed to in the HOV lanes. Yes, Provincial HOV lanes on the
highways, yes they are allowed to be solo riders on them.
When you talk about the multi use diamond lanes on other
roads, no, those are based on the signs.
(01:28:31):
So if you're on Dufferin, for instance, Dufferin, yeah,
Dufferin. If you're on Dufferin, you can
use the HOV lanes because it says motorcycle on, not because
you're solo or otherwise. If you're on it's on mills, you
can use the motorcycle. Diamond lane can have the
motorcycle in it because it's onthe on the the sign.
But that's not necessarily true for all.
(01:28:52):
But when you're on the the provincial highway HOV lanes,
yes, motorcycles. I think, I think it was 2007
when they made it legal because it used to be that you had to
have two up. Marie Van Speidlock.
Whose law? Or do you mean policies, acts
and statutes, not natural law. So.
(01:29:13):
Oh, come on. Please don't.
Are are you? Yeah.
I think you just jumped in with this.
First of all, sovereign people baloney and natural law crap.
No, this is about actual law, not made of fantasyland stuff.
This is not the 1800s. We are not making up new things.
(01:29:35):
We're not selling garbage. This is called provincial law
and federal law, Criminal Code and on, and Ontario traffic law.
Every policy, every province hastheir own.
Every state has their own. If you don't like them, you can
move. Yeah.
OK. I, I, I, I have no time for
(01:30:00):
crap. The only people I, I really have
no time for is the sovereign citizens who go.
I'm not, I'm not driving. I'm travelling.
You got to need a license insurance for that.
I have a right, No, OK. We talked about that for traffic
cameras is generally 11 kilometers over, but overall
(01:30:22):
it's based on the FPS of the cameras, frames per second of
the camera. That's from only savagery.
OK FPS is usually 23.95 on traffic cameras.
It depends on the 1st event is triggered.
Interesting. Drummer Cody says if speeding is
(01:30:45):
speeding why be lenient? Mixed messages.
I'm I'm really I think speedy. I think it should be 0
tolerance, but because when a police officer enforces the law,
they have to pick and choose because once they pull you over
for 10, then the person doing 20gets away with it.
So you can only pull one person over at a time.
And and if we're pulling people over at 5 over, that's
(01:31:05):
everyone's going to get pulled over now, it would eventually
stop people from doing it. I I don't I it's about managing
resources, trying to get the biggest the biggest fish.
I didn't Oh, Raj says I didn't reply to a stunt driving
comment. OK, I don't know what that is.
GRT says good morning. Single lane making left into a
(01:31:27):
drive. A car jumps opposite lane.
What what, what? Good morning.
Single lane making left into a drive.
OK, we missed some punctuation. A car jumps opposite lane to
pass, they hit you making a turn.
So one lane in either direction you go to make a left turn and
car passes and up to oncoming traffic and they hit you.
(01:31:50):
You have to make sure it's safe to turn.
You would be eligible at least splitting the the the
responsibility. So you you have to make sure
it's safe before you turn. Turning car is almost always at
fault and in that situation, as crazy as it sounds, you would be
making an unsafe turn. OK talked about this.
(01:32:16):
Yadi says hello Sir, my name is Yadwinder Singh.
I got a stunt driving charge by OPP in zone 80.
He put 131 kilometers an hour. OK, so I'm not following.
What's your question? It's it, it it's stunt driving.
(01:32:42):
How fast were you did? Oh, you were in an 80s zone.
So interesting. So you are you are OK One second
51 over which is legit what? What's the issue?
(01:33:04):
And if it was a 70 zone it wouldhave been good at 40 over
instead of 50 over. OK true Canadian.
You keep asking the same question but I've answered it
like 3 times. Actually, so now, OK, Raj says
(01:33:29):
to Ben. Banana can't drive with AG1
without someone that has AG for four years with 0 alcohol level.
So there's a couple things. The G driver has to have zero,
sorry. The G1 driver has to have 0
alcohol. The supervising G has to have
had their license for four years.
They're full. They've had to have had AG 2 or
(01:33:51):
G combination. They have to have AG, but the
total driving time since their G2 is issued is 4 years.
So if they had two years as AG, two and two years as AG, they
would be covered as a four year super like approved to
supervise. They have to have less than .05
BAC block all content because they have to be legal to drive
themselves. Shob shob shob.
(01:34:15):
Do you really care about tint? Yes I do I did.
I would. Many cops do.
It's unsafe. I'd take your plates if it was
truly unsafe because unsafe motor vehicle can't be on the
road. I tow my race car with my RV 40
foot and 30 foot trailer. Totals like 76.
What's the deal with restrict? Oh so I got to tell you I'm not.
(01:34:37):
I'm not good on this. I have a friend who is quite
learning about this, but I've not done the the deep dive into
the whole new regulations. But it's like there, there's one
deal where you have to take a quick online tutorial like an
ITAT, Like there's some basic stuff you have to do.
You need to find out specifically what's for you.
And unfortunately I don't have the right information for you.
(01:34:58):
I don't have the stuff to share with you.
Seth, what's going on? Seth says Mr. Shapiro, aside
from air support, how do we stopall the lane splitting that's
been happening? I don't know, man.
It's, it's we, we have a major problem with motorcycles and
people that they don't even havelicenses or plates or insurance
and they're doing all sorts of things.
I don't have a good answer otherthan put, put on.
(01:35:21):
We need a change in law. What we need is a change in law
that says if we see a plate, a plateless motorcycle, wherever
it is, it should, it should be impounded.
That's what I think. I think we need to change the
laws so that whether we see it on private property, public
property, anywhere you see a bike without a plate, instant
seizure because we know that they're bad guys now.
That's not the law. I just wish it was.
(01:35:43):
Ben Banana says, hey Sean, I'm anew driver.
How fast can I drive? The speed limit, That's how fast
you can drive. You can't go on roads over 80.
Got a stunt. So here's the Audi following up
saying got a stunt driving charge in OPP zone 80, put 131.
He put me on. He put me on purpose.
(01:36:04):
Court date is October 20th. What do you need to put you on
purpose? You were doing 131 and an 80.
That's sun driving, Tyler says. You're cooked OK, Ben Bennett
says. But I want to know what speeds.
I can't go. You can't go.
(01:36:26):
You can't be on roads over 80. What is this?
Why do cops pull you over for having a dark cover on your
license plate? Because it's illegal.
You can't. You can't put anything on your
license plate. Even a license plate frame isn't
legal. OK it's so shab.
(01:36:51):
Says it's not unsafe though. You all do anything but making
laws that are actually impact society.
What was the so? Unfortunately I'm not following.
I forgot what you actually askeda moment ago.
Let's scroll back. Tinted windows.
I think you were asking about tinted.
It is unsafe. It's absolutely unsafe.
When you reduce the amount of light that hits your eye, that's
less information for your out ofprocess, meaning you see less.
(01:37:13):
You can't communicate, people can't see what you're doing
inside the car, they can't make eye contact, non verbal
communication. Tinting windows makes you less
safe and makes it less safe for everybody else.
To say it's not unsafe means y'all don't know what you're
talking about. Yeah, it's totally that same.
(01:37:34):
Yeah, We OK new tent laws? No, there's no new tent laws.
That was bogus. That was being shared.
And Shane says quite rightly, No, no new tent laws.
That's been that way for years. Seth says, in my humble opinion,
(01:37:56):
speed limits in the 400 should be raised to 125 with 0
tolerance. I would love to see 0 tolerance,
125 kilometer speed limit. At 125 kilometers an hour with 0
tolerance, you'd still see people doing 140.
Like what's happening right now is that people are doing way
over 125 and the limit's 110. I'm sorry, 100 and 110 in some
areas. If you made it 125 people will
be doing 150 all day long. Justin Martin wants to know
(01:38:21):
about the biggest caliber rifle you can have legally.
I know that 50 is supposed to beprohibited now, but everything
you know what I I'm really frustrated about firearms laws
and and bananas. I'm really hoping what they what
I've been hearing that it's being abandoned.
We really good. Let's see if that happens and
(01:38:43):
Seth says 50 Cal, is that legal to have 50 Cal still or I
thought it was banned. Fergie says if you get pulled
over on four O 1 for any speed under 130 kilometers an hour,
it's likely due to some other factor. 130 is really fast.
I I I'm I'm shocked that people think that that's acceptable.
(01:39:04):
OK, Wrench, it says, yeah, OK, Igot that.
Sometimes it's dialogue amongst people.
Is it illegal to have a company banner on your truck window?
(01:39:26):
Depends on which window. Rear window is not a problem.
I will tell you this, check withyour insurance company.
If you put a company banner on your vehicle and it's not a
company vehicle, if you're not insured commercially, you can
have some serious problems because things can change when
you start advertising if it's determined and then there's a
taxable benefit. Are you getting paid for putting
that advertising? Are you and is it a company
(01:39:47):
vehicle used for company purposes and you're just
declaring it as a personal use vehicle could really change
things for you. Not a good thing.
Can I show the digital version of insurance slip or do I have
to have the paper copy? If you have an approved, this is
from Miss Sophia Sass. If you have an approved app
providing you that insurance card so you log in through like
(01:40:11):
the the insurance company you subscribe to or that you pay for
insurance with. If they have a secure app, then
you can use it. If it's a picture of your
insurance card, you cannot. Question I know many what is
this I know any police officer could pull someone over for
speeding. That a question that's a
statement. I know any police officer could
(01:40:32):
pull someone over for speeding. I know not what you what you
want to know G Money, 75 says. I recently saw a Toronto cop
pull someone over in Halton. If they fought the ticket which
court? Toronto police officer will
issue a ticket to Toronto. Now Halton Region may have been
in conjunction with a local police officer who would write
the ticket. It really depends.
(01:40:52):
So if it's if it's too jurisdict.
So I was talking about this lastnight.
If a Toronto police officer pulls you over in New York,
you're going to be issued a ticket in Toronto and you're
going to go and fight it in Toronto.
If you're going to fight it, if you are in Barrie and you're
pulled over by a Toronto officer, that ticket is not not
permitted. It's not, it's not cool because
(01:41:14):
it's unfairly going to make you drive all the way to Toronto.
So they would call a local Berryofficer to write the ticket and
the Toronto officer would becomea witness to their ticket.
If it's not properly, I'm sure people missed, you know,
inappropriately do it on occasion because they didn't
know. But that's the rules 1
jurisdiction over. But so many times they're
working on special, they could get special permission, I guess
to write tickets for, I don't know, the ticket books.
(01:41:35):
Ticket books have the courthouseprinted on them.
Then you call the police regarding an aggressive or
dangerous driver and have them charged in driving offenses.
The police officers going to need more information than you
just calling and saying they didit then they did a bad thing.
You need to have information like the the driver's license
driver, sorry, the driver's license plate, the vehicle
(01:41:57):
description, the time, date, location of the offense and
who's driving. Well, that would need you need
all those things to lay a chargein most cases.
And but if you were to report someone for habitually doing
something and they came and investigated it and they had all
these reports in conjunction with, you know, what the officer
saw, they would be able to writea ticket based on what they
(01:42:18):
witnessed and use your reports as additional, you know,
mitigating info. What's this user lots of numbers
says not answering to me. I see the hypocrisy.
I just just saw you write that. I don't know what else you
(01:42:40):
wrote, but that's the first thing I saw from you.
If you had a username that was maybe more memorable than user
lots of numbers, because that's a string of numbers, maybe I'd
know what your last thing you asked was, and I could comment
as to whether or not I ignored it intentionally or just didn't
see it. Oops, sorry, I hit the
microphone. Wuback wants to know how much
(01:43:04):
would it be if I get pulled overwith no ownership but I have the
insurance slip $110.00 for failing to surrender a insurance
document, Tanner Buchanan says. What do you answer on?
What do you mean? Like what?
What do you mean? I I talk about all sorts of
things. However, I just looked over
(01:43:26):
inside your message right now, OK?
Do I find it troubling that gas stations and truck stops on the
highway sell alcohol? Isn't that encouraging drinking?
Do they sell alcohol? I don't drink, so I don't.
I don't even know what who sellswhat.
(01:43:47):
I hadn't really thought about it.
That's something I've ever discussed.
Let's see here. Do I have to turn off my brights
for oncoming traffic on a divided highway?
No. Oh, are you impacting the the
other driver? What's the reality here?
(01:44:08):
A truly divided highway? I'm going to say no, Let me let
me look it up. Failed to use lower beam
oncoming when on a highway at any time when light of the lamps
are required to be displayed on vehicles, the driver or vehicle
(01:44:29):
equipped with multi beam have light shell use the lower beam
doesn't doesn't say. It says approaching within 150
meters, so it doesn't specify kind of divided and undivided.
I don't think anyone's ever asked me that question that way
and I just went to know, but apparently doesn't excuse.
So don't you make sure you put your your lower beams on?
Glad we looked that up because Iwould have given you the bad
(01:44:50):
info, Nicholas says. So what you're saying is cops
have the vision of AT Rex. I can commit the crime, just say
stay still to the vision of a car.
This is in relation to the cops pulling in or a car pulling into
a dealership and the cops just giving up on it.
I think they just didn't want tohave the interaction.
(01:45:11):
Positive, negative experience. Tanner says lane splitting
should be legal. It's honestly safer for bikers.
I think that in certain circumstances you can make it
legal. I think that if it was stopped,
stopped, not moving traffic and there was no more than a 5 or 10
kilometer an hour speed differential, so you were
(01:45:33):
crawling through traffic. I can I could see that
potentially. But the problem is we don't see
that. We see thirty, 4850 kilometers
through traffic that's moving at30-40, fifty 100 kilometers, not
OK. And I we see it, you know,
breakneck speeds zipping throughtraffic.
That's that's done driving. If you're talking about lane
filtering where you just scroll up through traffic a little bit,
(01:45:55):
you don't really have a problem with that.
Me personally, it doesn't make it legal.
I just don't have a problem withit and I'm I'm a motor like I
used to be a motor officer. What's this?
Oops. Scrolling back, things just
updated. I got to find where we left off.
(01:46:25):
Tracy says you always go over toI.
I don't. Oh my God, we're approaching 2
hours, Vera. Vera Muthu says.
Question regarding front plates. So is there no law that needs to
be mounted on the bumper? It says it has to be in a
conspicuous place at the front of the vehicle, which is front
grill front bumper. I'm OK with a tow hook adapter.
(01:46:49):
Those are all good conspicuous place Dr. Jimmy Ruslan says
let's campaign to have dynamic speeds on the four O 1 depending
on the conditions 80 to 140 withLED sides interesting I I
couldn't speak to that being good or bad if the law was there
(01:47:09):
to allow the fluctuations and doctor Jimmy says yeah going
after legal gun owners is actually ridiculous.
It it is so offensive it's ridiculous.
Can a cop pull your cars plate off for tents?
Yes they can. They if it's if it's if it's
(01:47:29):
over a threshold like if it's ifit's in the category of unsafe
motor vehicle which is more than30% light blockage, then yes.
OK how could how long can you run outside province insurance?
If you're a resident of Ontario, you have to have insurance in
Ontario. You have to disclose where you
live if your plates. So if you have Ontario plates,
(01:47:52):
you have Ontario insurance. If you have moved to Ontario and
your vehicles in in in Ontario, you're a resident here, you have
Ontario license, you're committing insurance fraud by by
registering a vehicle outside and and using it here.
And that's a bad thing. Gratefully wants to know if I
(01:48:14):
need to meet an age or driver's license requirement.
You have to be, you have to be 16 in Ontario.
OK. Can I drive a vehicle with
insurance on it, just not in my name?
If you're a licensed driver, youcan operate any insured vehicle
with permission of the owner. Now, the owner might have
(01:48:34):
problems if they're loaning yourvehicle to someone who's not
approved for their policy. In other words, some policies
say no under the age of 25 and that they could run into
problems. But it's not a police
perspective, it's the insurance perspective.
But they'll do in the event of acollision.
What do we got here? Greg has to go and I should go
(01:48:54):
too because it's I, I've gone a full hour or almost a full hour
longer than I had planned to. I was going to go run away right
away at one hour. But it got interesting.
RJ wants to know if you need a hard copy of an insurance card
or does the does the electronic version work?
Electronic versions for a secureapp.
You can't just have a photo of your insurance card.
(01:49:16):
And thanks for Tracy. You actually responded to RJ
already. OK speed cams or speed bumps?
My house is surrounded by bumps and my lowered car scrapes
everyday. I hate speed bumps I really do.
And I'm in a neighborhood that'sgetting speed cushions.
I have no idea why. Like my truck is wide enough
(01:49:38):
that I barely feel them and I'm doing the speed limit but I
don't have to slow down for themat all.
So that's just, I mean, if you, if you didn't go around like
straddle the the bump, yeah, you'd have to really slow down.
But then that begs the question of why do I need to slow down
from the speed limit to go over something?
(01:50:00):
Because if you did so the speed limit's 50.
If you, if you just went over the speed bump at 50, like by
properly mounting it the way that I guess they want you to,
you'd have to go down to 20 or 30.
Why? Why is the speed limit 50?
If you want me to go down to 30,that's stupid.
But if I'm doing 50 and I straddle the speed bump by
aiming my tires between the bumps, why?
(01:50:23):
Why do we have them again? Like they don't do anything.
I can do 50 over them. I don't have to slow down at
all. So is the goal to make me good
at aiming to go around them or is it to really slow me down?
Like I question why taxpayer money goes into this crap.
Speed cameras everywhere don't speed or pay.
(01:50:43):
That's what I think speed bumps silly.
And what do I see here? Where else are you live?
Oh currently broadcasting on YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok,
Instagram and X. Do cops take pictures of people
on their phones and distracted driving campaigns and mail
(01:51:04):
tickets? No we stop them and charge them.
Sometimes we take pictures with we have cameras on side of cars
and some police cars testing butthat's for evidence not for
mailing tickets later. At least not in Ontario.
Greg says in Ontario cars at twoway stops is the first to right
(01:51:25):
of way turning vehicle has to go.
It's first to arrive, first to drive.
OK PGH Stealth says qualified immunity is BS.
That is all. First of all, qualified immunity
(01:51:45):
is an American term which I really know nothing about.
So this is a Canadian channel, let's talk about Canadian law
and cops don't have qualified immunity, whatever that is.
(01:52:09):
Drummer Cody says aftermarket lights are being put in
reflector type headlights. That is why they're too bright.
I imagine so. OK.
Are transport trucks to go in the left lane on any hundred 110
kilometer highway? No, they're not allowed to be in
the left lane. Why?
Oh, this is good Binnery Binny. Binny says.
(01:52:32):
Why are police allowed to drive above the law?
Distracted. Speeding, no signals, fake
faking their lights. So first of all, distracted.
There's an exemption for handheld communication devices,
computers and such and two way radios.
That's that I, I have an exemption because I'm an amateur
radio operator. I'm, I have an exemption under
the HDA for the use of handheld communication.
(01:52:52):
You have an exemption. Everyone has an exemption
calling emergency speeding. Police have the ability to
exceed the posted speed limit and the lawful execution of
their duties. That means enforcement patrol
response. They're allowed to speed.
They don't have to have their lights on.
So when they say faking their lights, I I I assume you mean
turning it on to go through a red light.
They're allowed to go through a red lights.
And going to a call without flashing lights and siren is
(01:53:16):
good for both their safety and the movement of the vehicles.
Because when you turn the lightson, everyone gets freaked out.
They stop in the middle of the road and it's slower, it's less
safe. So they turn them off and they
just use them within the only time they're legally required
to, which is to go through a signalized intersection.
No signals. No, they they have to signal.
OK, what we got here? Can your can you tow your car
(01:53:43):
for expired plate? No, they, they, they can see
they can't drive. You can tow the car, but they
won't impound you for no for no plates.
You're not thinking, says ex traffic cop.
Yes, former police officer. TT sounds 35, says 51st state.
We're in Canada, Shia Jerome says.
(01:54:07):
Thoughts on removing speed cameras?
I think it's a big mistake. I think they're a great tool.
They're proven to be useful and they generate funds from people
who choose to break the law, which I think is great.
What are the consequences of driving with an expired
temporary tag means you don't have a license plate, so you get
charged for having a vehicle. It's not allowed to be on the
road, Shabba says. I got pulled over from radar,
(01:54:28):
car in front and car behind alsopulled over.
He only gave me a ticket. He only gave you a ticket.
What else was he going to give you?
No, we only gave you a ticket. The other ones got away with it.
That's that's prerogative, Tracysays.
You were the lucky winner. Matthew says in an advance green
and a right on red get into a collision.
(01:54:49):
Who's at fault? The advance green has a green.
The right on red can only turn right on red when it's safe to
do so. If there's a collision, it's
when they thought it was safe todo so.
They were obviously wrong, and the person making the right will
likely be the one at fault. However, however, anyone who's
turning could be sharing that responsibility.
So a left turn and a right turn collide someone done messed up
(01:55:13):
and there might be multiple reasons improper turn that you
go into the proper lane. So there's more there's there's
a lot more to unpack than simplywho's you know, what was the
configuration of the intersection?
Lots to think about. Whatever.
He wants to know what happens ifyou don't have a valid safety
and it's on an expired car. My car is legal, I promise.
You have no safety. You're an unsafe motor vehicle
(01:55:34):
on the road. Lots of bad things happen,
primarily charges to you. Oh that was bad, sorry.
Matthew says it was a four lane Rd.
SO4 lane Rd. meaning a two in each direction.
So the person making a left shouldn't be able to stay to the
left. The person making the right
(01:55:54):
should have stayed to the right. But someone went to the wrong
place and collided and they're both going to be multiple
charges. But and it depends on the
investigation and and funny Tracy was on the money.
She was answering exactly what Isaid.
OK boom boom boom. Why are there no consequences
(01:56:16):
for people who waits until last second and cut you off on a lane
merchant? Wait, it's the last second.
You mean people who zipper turn? What zipper merge?
I should say that's from Khalid I I'm not entirely sure what
you're suggesting. If they're if there's a merge
lane and they go right to the end, that's what they're
supposed to be doing and you should be allowing them to come
in. What is the penalty for not
(01:56:39):
turning into the right most or left most lane?
Improper turn $110 Shabba says. How do I know it was my car on
the radar if I was in the middleof two other cars?
Was it radar? Was it laser?
It all depends. The testimony could be that all
three were speeding. The testimony could have been
that they saw you as the vehiclethat they clearly identified
with their own eyes as going faster, and your vehicle could
(01:57:00):
have been any larger vehicle than the other.
It depends. Radar has a different testimony
pack than than laser. If it was a laser speed
enforcement or speed measuring device, he looked it through a A
site and that site was your hoodthat he was pointing at when he
did it. He pulled over three cars just
because it was easier to pull three over than to nab you
because you were close together. There's all sorts of reasons why
that could have happened. Alpha wants to know if a police
(01:57:23):
officer can forgive you and let you go after stopping you.
They can. Sure they can give you a
warning. Don't do it again, have a nice
day. Sure they can do that, Ziggy
says. So .05 would be the equivalent
to what in liquor threw one beeror half a beer .05.
What's the context of your question?
(01:57:46):
Is it illegal to tint to any degree front and passenger
windows Aftermarket? You can tint your windows other
than your windshield, but it's it's the well the rear ones and
rear rear window and rear passenger is dark as you want.
The windows left and right of the driver are regulated along
with the front windshield. No more than 30% light blockage
and the windows left and right of the driver for certification
(01:58:06):
purposes. But if I can't see in you're
obscuring the interior of your motor vehicle and it is a
charge. Do do, do, do do.
Ethan says what did you do to keep yourself motivated and
physically fit for a for a whileafter my collision, I didn't.
However, Akayla says I'm back and you're still on at noon.
(01:58:29):
Oh my God, is it really noon? It is noon.
Ah yes, it's been 2 hours to be motivated to.
It's it's immense that you just got to choose to do it.
In fact, I have to go upstairs and do a push up routine now.
It's my thing. It's Wednesday and then
planking, planking and push up routines.
I switch between them. OK Shannon, what about E bikes
(01:58:49):
rule? What about the E bikes rule?
What about the E bikes rule which was introduced recently?
E bikes are not allowed in Toronto.
No, E bikes are allowed in Toronto.
E kick scooters have not been allowed in Toronto.
OK, quickly, quickly because this is a big topic for me.
E bikes are electric bicycles, assisted bicycles that qualify
(01:59:09):
as E bikes because they are not capable of going more than 32
kilometers an hour, do not weighmore than 120 kilos, have no
more than a 500 Watt motor. They're E bikes.
They're motorcycles because theyhave a motor on a bicycle
motorcycle. But through the magic of
legislation, if they qualify with what I just said, the 32
(01:59:30):
Max speed, the 500 Watt motor, the the weight limit and the
functional pedals. I didn't mention that, but it's
functional pedals. Then they get to be treated like
bicycles. However, if it's capable of
operating at 32 kilometers an hour on a flat surface, it's a
motorcycle. Again, it loses the special
powers, an E kick scooter, whichis what you're actually talking
(01:59:50):
about, which is not allowed in Toronto.
It's covered under a the pilot project in the province of
Ontario, which means only in jurisdictions that opted in.
Toronto is not one of them. Can you operate 1?
You have to be 16 years old. As do you with the with the E
bikes I see. I went to McDonald's yesterday
to give my kids an ice cream cone and I saw two kids that
were clearly not 16 coming in onE kick scooters.
(02:00:12):
Totally illegal, but in a jurisdiction that allows them to
operate and they would have to be wearing a helmet, which they
weren't. They had to be 16, which they
weren't. Yeah, a lot of people violating
the law. They can have a maximum speed of
24 kilometers an hour. And you can buy one at Costco
that does 30. Not legal, private property
only. OK, I've been seeing a lot of E
(02:00:36):
bikes. OK, yeah, lots of E bikes.
Rookie numbers. I got caught doing 171 and an 80
only got $1000 fine. You're lucky.
You got $1000 fine. That's that's that's below the
minimum, which is odd. Tinted feels unsafe at night.
Yeah, many people who have tinted windshields say that they
(02:00:58):
have to roll down the windows tobe able to to see at all.
OK, dad joke there. Anyway, got a dad joke.
I'm about to wrap the show and I'm going to read the dad jokes
before I go. Ontario license is it is invalid
in Nova Scotia. What?
Oh, if your license is suspendedin Toronto, it will be
(02:01:19):
suspended. If your license is suspended in
Toronto, your license is suspended because it's
suspended. Thus it's suspended everywhere.
What people try and do is go to Nova Scotia and get a license in
Nova Scotia, pretending they don't have a license in Toronto.
They get one issued there. When they come back to Ontario,
they cannot drive in Ontario because they're still suspended
(02:01:40):
and driving under the license ofanother jurisdiction is still
illegal. OK.
Oh, so many, so many great stuff.
CC 8911. GTS says Sup, Spiro.
All right, Joe says he's got a question.
(02:02:00):
Ask away. Nick says my brother uses my car
to go to school, but if he's late to class, he uses the
highway. G2 driver.
What happens if he gets pulled over?
He's violating a condition of his license.
No, what am I saying? He's AG2 driver.
You can totally use the highway.Think about that for a SEC.
There's no issue with G2 driversin the highway.
(02:02:22):
If he's speeding on the highway is a different story.
If he lives with you, make sure that he's on the insurance.
G2 drivers need to be listed as occasional drivers.
Steve wants to know what, what what?
What does one do when a police officer is indicating or
changing lanes without their indicator?
Well, you're well within your rights to complain, but that
(02:02:46):
probably nothing going to happen.
I mean, they should use their indicators.
Yeah, Indicators are required. There's no exemption for them.
I don't know why not. Why an officer would not.
It's just ignorant for anyone not to signal.
Jake wants to know if I'm in theUSA.
Troy. Are you a USA copper?
Canada. I'm neither.
I I mean that because I'm no longer a police officer.
(02:03:07):
Says so right on the screen. Says former policer.
That's because I I retired from policing and I kept doing this
part of the game which was helping people know stuff and
things. Mr. Ross says.
Why aren't mechanics exempt then, since we have to monitor
and watch data there? If you so there is an exemption
for mechanics who are putting environmental or computers in to
(02:03:30):
monitor. You can have an open screen
there. You can use the laptop.
Go read the regulation it it specifically does exempt
mechanics and and a couple of other people.
OK. What if someone, what is it?
What if you see someone just distracted on their phone?
(02:03:52):
If they're all over the road, you could always call police.
You could always report them. I, I don't think calling police
is appropriate because it's not,it's unsafe, but there's no way
a cop's going to get there fast enough to deal with it.
You're much better. You're you're much better off
to, to report them through the online portals of the local
police user lots numbers says soyou're retired to make videos.
(02:04:17):
I, I make videos as a thing thatI like to do to give back.
I started a not-for-profit organization called better
Traffic Safety in education. It's actually called the
Canadian organization for betterTraffic Safety in education.
I do that in addition to runninga couple of businesses.
So by no means is this my full time gig.
This is something I do to give back because I enjoy it and I
want to help people. And with that, I'm going to read
some dad jokes. Hopefully I oh, there's another
(02:04:40):
dad joke. OK, let's get into the list.
What kind of nut always seems tobe sick?
Cashews. Shoes.
I don't know if I should. I don't know which one that is.
(02:05:00):
I like cashews a lot. I got to go buy.
I got to go to Costco and buy some more cashews.
I ran out. Why are nesting dolls so
egocentric? Because they're all full of
themselves. That's actually good.
(02:05:21):
Oh, Joe Joe one O 1 just came inwith a joke.
Not joke. The question he had first.
Bella says I was pulled over forwearing a hood from my sweater.
They said it obstructed my view.I I don't think there's an
offense for obstructing your view by way of a hoodie.
(02:05:41):
I, I don't think that's the, I mean, if they just warned you,
they pulled you over and investigated you and said you
shouldn't do it. Not against the law.
No, not against the law. You can turn your head.
That's how you look at your sidemirrors.
Your peripheral vision was impacted.
OK, but they didn't give you a ticket for that, right?
They just warned you and they just wanted to see because you
looked suspicious. And that was the excuse they
(02:06:03):
used. Not an offense covering your
windows so you can't see out. That is an offense.
That's an obstructed view. Well, so, OK, hang on.
Let's let's see what this says because I'm going to say that
the obstructed view has to be a modification of the vehicle
(02:06:24):
driver view Obstructed. I got to spell it obstructed
right to search it. Come on.
(02:06:48):
Window obstructed. No person shall drive a motor
vehicle upon a highway with any sign, poster or other non
transparent material or object placed on the windshield or on
any window of such motor vehicle.
Like I said, hoodie is placed onyou, not the window.
Thus the offense does not work. You can't be charged for wearing
(02:07:10):
a hoodie. If you put the hoodie over the
window, you've obstructed the window.
Yeah. No.
Yeah, yeah. You got and.
And Bella says no. I just got warned.
Yeah, a reasonable reason to warn someone, investigate
further, but not a charge. OK, and where's where's Joe one
(02:07:30):
O 1? Joe one O one said I bought a
car from a dealership, got pulled over and they said that
the car was illegal. What do I do?
Who's safety of the vehicle and why was it illegal?
It's not enough information for me to tell you what to do.
If the vehicle is safetied straight for the road and the
mechanic signed off on it, that's going to be a problem for
the mechanic who signed off on it.
If you've not, if it's as is, you bought it from them and
their mechanic signed off, you've got grounds to go back to
(02:07:52):
them. OMVIC OMV is it, What is it?
What is it? How do you spell it?
OMVIC, OMVIC. Let's see if it's no go on.
Keyboard is Bluetooth and lagging go on.
I have to switch computers. Oh, OMVIC, OMVIC yeah.ca.
(02:08:15):
It's the Ontario Motor Vehicle Sales Regulator.
Talk to them, reach out to the investigators there because if
you were sold something that shouldn't have been safety and
it got on the road somehow, that's problematic for them.
Well, for the dealership, OK, George says, hey Sean, is it
(02:08:37):
illegal for passing in a solid line?
I was told that yellow lines areonly suggestive.
Incorrect. They're not really regulated or
so per SE per so it's it's solidlines are not to be passed
regardless of color. The white lines mean that
traffic on the other side of theline is going the same direction
as you and the other line. The yellow ones mean that the
(02:08:58):
traffic on the other side is going against you in oncoming
woman George says you're not youain't a cop no more.
Thank you. That's why it says so on the
screen. You're a genius.
Let's see here. Is rolling coal illegal?
Yes, it's illegal, Diana says. I've heard of a few people
(02:09:20):
complain of getting tickets for two to three over by a speed
camera. I've heard people complain about
it, but I've never seen anythingto validate that it actually
occurred, Watch says. Are you still with TPS?
No, I'm not. I've no longer a police officer.
I'm now self-employed and working with a not-for-profit
that I created called the Canadian Organization for Better
Traffic Safety and Education, Diana says.
(02:09:41):
I don't believe it. Is there any truth to it or just
because it's always hearsay? I, I agree with you.
I, I don't believe it at all, although I've heard many people
say it. What I have heard are people who
who don't realize the speed limits were modified by 10
kilometers an hour and then theyget a ticket for doing 61 and
what they think is a 60, but nowit's a 50 that I believe.
(02:10:06):
They said these exhaust system was too loud.
Well saying the exhaust system was too loud and and it actually
being too loud are two differentthings.
If the system is compliant and it was certified.
I'll give you an example. My father bought a Mustang,
wanted to have a Mustang, boughta Mustang.
We went to sell the Mustang. We found out that the Mustang
had straight pipes. Had no idea.
I knew it was obnoxious soundingbut I didn't think it was
(02:10:27):
illegal because it was certifiedby a mechanic.
The mechanic was sold in the vehicle.
Then I found out that not only did the the the mechanic sell
him a vehicle and certify it, but he probably curbsided it
too. Like I I wasn't involved in this
purchase. This is something that OMVIC
should have investigated and charged the the the mechanic not
only for curbsiding, but for certifying a vehicle that was
(02:10:48):
not certifiable. Just saying.
OK, how long was that a police officer?
How long was that with the police?
I was with the police for 24 years.
I was a police officer for less because I became a police
officer in 2012 or at least I became a cadet in 2012.
(02:11:10):
Are speed limits? Are speed limits on off ramps
and ramps suggestive or they maintained until the next time?
Speed limits on off ramps are what the engineers will tell you
is for ideal conditions to keep you on the road.
You should not exceed those, Deathstalker says.
I was doing 52 in A50 zone and Igot a ticket for 375.
(02:11:31):
How? By whom?
What was the offense for $375? Two kilometers over is like a
$10 ticket plus victim fine surcharge 40-50 bucks.
How? How on earth did you get a
ticket for $375 for doing 2 kilometers over?
Please explain. Going back to dad jokes until I
hear that. But that stalker, that was the
last thing I remember. I want to I want to hear the
(02:11:52):
answer. I want to know more.
OK, Did he answer? How old were you and you decided
to become a police officer? I was like, 12, maybe 8.
OK, That's when I knew I wanted to be 1.
(02:12:13):
Quote from Michaela Draconis here.
It's the reason there are two senators for each state is so
that one can be the designated driver.
That's Jay Leno. That's great.
Dad joke. Justice is a dish best served
cold. Otherwise it's is just water,
just ice. Just ice is a dish.
(02:12:43):
Nicholas Rizzi dad joke. My dad.
I should read this before I readthis.
Read it to myself. My dad is like a sidewalk.
He kept me off the streets. It doesn't require a sound, but
that that's not bad speeding. That was the ticket said I went
to court it was dismissed. Well, it was the wrong amount.
(02:13:06):
How would they come up with a speeding ticket for 300 and
cents? What what what jurisdiction
Death Stalker like was this Ontario?
There's a like for 2 kilometers over the minimum fine would
would be in there would be in place and it'll be it'll be 2750
(02:13:30):
or if you were in a a school zone like 40, like someone
really screwed up to give you a ticket for with that's at 375
anyway, I'm going to press this button.
It's going to play the outro music and with that I'm going to
say goodbye. I'm going to I'm going to be
back on Tuesday night. I'll probably have more sleep
than I had last night because last night I did this show till
(02:13:52):
11 and I went out for an hour ora couple.
I came back at like in the wee hours and then like I said,
meetings. It's about making time to fit
all the the conversations in. And then I went to bed and I
woke up again and I'm tired, which is probably why I didn't
realize that I went two hours and 16 minutes when I said I do
for, you know, an hour of it. See you Tuesday night, 9:00 PM
for after dark and next Wednesday at 10 AM for another
(02:14:13):
one of these daytime shows. If you're not following me,
please follow me everywhere. Drive safe, drives over.
Enjoy what little nice weather we have before snow comes.
And we'll be talking about winter driving prep soon enough.
Have a good one.
