(00:00):
Good morning. Happy Tuesday.
It's 10:00-ish AM. Yeah, I was not ready to go live
at 10:00 AM because when I pressed the button, something
wasn't working. So I rebooted, and that's what
happened. So hope you're having a magical
day. I have got caffeine from
McDonald's with me today. That is what I Is it your first
choice? It's, it's, it's not my first
(00:21):
choice, but it is what I'm drinking.
If you have a different first choice, please let me know
'cause I'm always interested. I'm always interested to know
what is caffeinating your day. And this show really is
caffeinated. At least it's powered by
caffeine. My name is Shantipur.
I'm a former police officer to talk about Traffic Safety,
traffic law, and police stuff. And if you want answers to your
(00:41):
questions, I'm here to give themat least try.
Now. We are currently broadcasting on
9 different platforms. That's pretty awesome.
We are. Let's see if I can get them all
right. We're on X LinkedIn, Instagram,
TikTok, then we're on Facebook. We're on Twitch, Kik and Rumble.
What? I forget X.
(01:02):
Did I forget something? I think I forgot something
because I don't think that adds up to 9.
Let's go back. Let's look X LinkedIn,
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube. I didn't.
I don't think I mentioned YouTube.
Twitch kick, Rumble, Facebook. Yeah, yeah, that's it.
We're on 9, which is awesome. It's been a while.
We were on five for a long time and now we're on 9.
And that's just to be able to talk to you all because if
(01:25):
you've got questions, I've got answers and if I don't, we'll
look them up and we'll figure itout.
But I want to help you. I want to help you be safer on
the roads, because when you're being safer, everyone's being
safer. It's kind of a community thing.
Yeah. It's dark outside.
Have you noticed? I have.
And it's, I'm getting, I guess Iget up at 6:00 in the morning,
sometimes earlier, sometimes a little later.
(01:46):
But at 6:00 in the morning, it is pitch black.
The sun doesn't really start coming up to my neck of the
woods until about 7:00. And then it's just creeping in.
Now it's dark, like a light switch goes off around 5, four,
5:00 at night, it's dark, dark. I, I was working at the kitchen
table, had my laptop out and I had to go turn the lights on
because it's dark. So what does that mean besides
(02:09):
that it's dark? It means that it's dark for
everybody. Like when you're on the road,
you're less visible. You need your headlighting
system on. That's what it means.
So if you're out there driving in the dark, please turn on your
headlights. I pulled up next to someone in a
relatively new BMWA couple days ago.
It was dark shocker and their lights were off.
(02:32):
I know this because their tail lights were only activating when
their brakes were applied. They're daytime running lights
were on so they thought their head lighting system was on, so
I gave them a couple of flicks of my high beams to try and get
their attention. It did not work.
I pulled up aside them with the next red light and said hey turn
on your lights and it took them about 30 seconds of fumbling to
(02:53):
figure out how to turn them on. The shocking thing is it's
either a rental, a brand new car, or they've been driving
like that forever and had no idea that they had headlight
switches or buttons or things tohave a part of controlling that
feature. They just got in and drove.
So my question to you is, how many people actually read their
(03:13):
manual? How many people fidget with
every button and menu in their dashboard to make sure they know
what they're doing? I think it's a lot lower than we
give people credit for. I think there's a lot of people
who are there who have no idea how to put gas in.
If it wasn't for the nice personwho helped them out at the gas
station. Because I am often at the
Costco, that's where I get gas. It's cheaper there and people
(03:35):
are like, could you help me? They want help with tapping
their credit card. They want help with opening a
gas cap. There's a lot of people who
can't basically figure out the the basics now.
I'm here for you. If you got questions not about
filling up the gas, we're not going there.
If you got questions about traffic law and Traffic Safety,
I'm all over it. It's a thing.
(03:55):
Yeah. Just a good morning to let's see
here. We got Brandon.
Brandon is coming in by YouTube, the tube of you and he says good
morning, Sean and all back home for a while missing the Florida
heat. Hope you all have fun.
Sorry. Have a fun.
Amazing day, I hope you have funtoo and I don't blame you for
missing the magical heat. It is something that I I yearn
(04:17):
to be in again soon. I'd like to go to Florida, but
right now not happening. See if I press this button, does
it work? Diamond and Diamond Lawyers Yes,
Diamond and Diamond is a sponsorof the show and I thank them for
their support. They are a magical team of
people. The largest personal injury law
firm in Canada. They've got that title, we're
(04:39):
going to say it as much as we can.
We really appreciate them supporting the show as a pressed
it again. Did it go away?
No, there we go. Pressed it twice as as as this
is a not-for-profit organization, the Canadian
organization for better Traffic Safety and education.
That's what this is all done on.See, I, I left policing over a
year ago and I wanted to continue my outreach, my
(05:00):
education, my stuff and things. And to do that, I needed money
and they helped me out with that.
And they support doing good things and being safe on the
road. Obviously, when things go
sideways, they help people and protect their their interests.
We'll call it that. All right, let's see.
Good morning to from Julie. Julie says good morning, Sean.
Brandon says Joffrey's coffee atDisney has the toffee, toffee
(05:24):
flight. It helps me start my day.
Toffee flight. Is there sugar in that?
If I get back there? Joffe's coffee, Joffrey's
coffee. I don't know why I can't say
Joffe. I want to say Joffe, but it's
not Joffe clearly says Joffrey's.
Tell me more because every time I hear Joffrey, I think of
what's it called? The swords.
What is it? What is the show called?
(05:47):
Oh, come on. Oh geez, my goodness.
What is it? God throne, Game of Thrones,
Joffrey, right? It was a character makes me
think. I'm sure that's not what what
Disney was thinking when they they call it Joffrey's.
Or is Joffrey not related to Disney?
Anyway, moving on. Good morning Sean.
(06:09):
How is your Halloween? That's from storm gaming and
vlogs and my Halloween was magical.
It was great. We hosted candy at the front
door. That's what we did.
And my kids were very excited tohand out lollipops, suckers.
And when I went to move the carks, I went to pick up dinner.
I had Swiss shallot and when I went to go pick up the, the, the
(06:31):
food, that's what it's called, Iran into some families.
They were walking by. They didn't realize our, our,
our house was open for business. So I said, Hey, we're open for
business. And they went, I know you,
you're one of the dads at school.
And that's where I met Ryan. And then we talked about stuff
and things and, and one of the moms who was escorting their
kids says, my husband watches you.
And I'm like, that's awesome. I love hearing that.
(06:53):
It's always great to meet peoplewho know about the show.
And then it's always great to meet about people who will know
about the show based on meeting them talking about candy Droner
Wayne says Morning, Sean. Good morning, Wayne, how's it
going? We've got let's see here.
What is this? I didn't know how to get the
pump to start flowing and my friend made it look easy.
Yes, and Carl May Carl Freeman says good morning, Sean.
(07:16):
So that that covers the folks that are coming in from YouTube
primarily, but the X will come up on the feed and so will the
magical folks who come in from we have X LinkedIn, kick Twitch,
that all comes through on this feed.
So if you're coming from those platforms, I can put you up on
the screen. However, if we are calling from
TikTok, well, then I've got to look at you on this screen.
(07:38):
So let's go have a look at what TikTok saying.
By the way, if you're on TikTok,please tap that screen.
So your fingers are going to help us bring more people to the
party. And the more people who join the
party, well, the more people bring unique perspectives and
questions. And I'm all about that.
Let's move it onto the screen sowe can see more.
Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. Yeah, Too big, too small.
What are we doing here? Try to move.
(07:59):
Minimize. Here we go.
We're going to maximize. There we go.
OK, scroll into my D says who gives slash issues, demerit
points. That's the Ministry of
Transportation. So courts will convict you for
an offence. And then the ministry will then
take that registration of the conviction and a pawn
(08:22):
registering it. Well, they, they, they'll,
they'll had points or issued Ameri points.
Here's a situation. I know somebody who was recently
convicted of careless driving. And then they called me and said
I have to do a course now I haveto complete an education course.
Well, that's because you got 6 Damera points for the conviction
for careless. And now that's triggered other
stuff and things Steve 530 says just keep them on all the time.
(08:45):
This is headlights I because we were talking about the fact that
so many people don't turn them on.
I have them on auto mode. Now that's another issue because
when you're used to having them on auto mode, you get really,
really lazy and you assume that auto mode will always work and
then it doesn't. Not because it's broken, but
because you take your car for anoil change and the mechanic
doesn't want to stare into your, your, your headlights and turn
(09:07):
them off and they don't tell youthat you turn them off.
But you should be checking this every time you get into the car.
Just saying. Gordon Shumway, I see you.
I'll come back to you in a second and you just pop in a
question from X or a statement. Kid says I got a ticket for
improper tires because they are bald yes ball tires are not
legal That's the the I don't it's not a question it's a
(09:30):
statement so I I feel it for youman tires are expensive and you
should talk about tires. Actually there's a lot of talk
about tires. I got to have Brian Max come
back on we'll talk all about tires and then if you need tires
and you're in Toronto, call tireButler.
It's a buddy of mine. I go to him for all my tire
stuff and they do mobile tires. So I could be having my tires
changed right now while I'm livestreaming and they could be out
(09:51):
of my driveway doing what they do best, which is tire changes.
And anyway, they do all sorts ofstuff.
It's not just tire changes. It's more it's more than that.
But I love the fact that I can be at home and they come to me,
you know, waiting in three hoursin the tire shop.
Just I, I, I can't do it anymore.
No, won't do it. Won't do it.
My my time is too valuable. Yes.
(10:11):
OK, Flash, JTR says, can we, canyou use high beams on a four
lane highway with oncoming traffic?
You can't when, when there's oncoming traffic, you must lower
your beams. So that's a thing 150 meters I
believe oncoming and 60 meters following.
Why does this never stick in my,my noodle?
(10:33):
Let's check, let's check with the the the the knowledge link
that I have here and we'll do a quickly quick double check under
the Highway Traffic Act and it is going to be low beams fail.
It's failed to lower beam right failed to lower.
No, that's not the beam. Let's just search beam closely
(10:55):
Search failed to use lower beam oncoming 150 meters I was
correct and following 60 meters,I said 50.
I was wrong. It's 60.
I don't know why these things don't like to stick in my
noggin. My name is Sean Chipur.
I'm a former police officer who talks about Traffic Safety,
traffic law and police stuff every single day, even if I'm
not necessarily online. OK, I'm in the comments.
(11:17):
But I used to live stream five days a week, and it made more
sense when I said that then. But now I'm on live stream twice
a week, 10 AM on Tuesdays, 9:00 PM on Wednesdays for the After
Dark edition, where it's just a little more relaxed and maybe we
bring some guests on. And yeah, you never know what's
going to happen. It could, it could be anything.
Craziness, craziness. Let's look at the folks who are
on on the Instagram. One stage, 9441 says Bet the
(11:42):
coyotes come out early, too. Oh, interesting.
I hadn't thought about the fact that the animules might be out
on the road and and become an added threat.
There's a lot of people hitting animals, a lot of dead stuff on
the roads. Unalived animals can't say dead
people get so offended. Beach chill guy 2008 says what's
(12:02):
up. And that's right.
As soon as you say I got to go surfer dude, which makes me
think of Crush. You know, from from from Finding
Nemo. Crush was one of the best
characters of all time. And if you've ever done a Disney
cruise, when you when you're in the dining room, they have an
actor who control OK, I'm I'm ruining the magic.
(12:24):
The Disney magic's it's there's an animation that will actually
come and visit you at every table and do a whole thing.
It's interactive. It's amazing.
If you ever get a chance to go on the Disney cruise, you
should, you will not be disappointed.
Yes. And, and I I'll tell you about
something. OK, I'll just tell you now, I
happen to love cruising so much that I became an Expedia Cruise
Ship Center's travel agent like in 2022 because I was just
(12:46):
traveling so much. And I, I, I look forward to
opportunities to talk about how much I love cruising.
I, I don't think I've ever really talked about it on this
show, but I do love it And I do love that character crush who
comes up and, and an actor, a live actor is engaging with you
and your kid. It's crazy.
Anyway, moving on beach show guysays, is it a bad idea if your
tail light is out? Do you mean like your brake
(13:09):
lights? Because I would suggest that
that could be a bad idea. It's the kind of thing my jigger
that actually, you know, tells other people that you're slowing
down or stopping. So kind of important.
And when you're talking about headlighting system, it allows
them to see you in the dark because otherwise there's no
light. We call those ghost cars.
This is what it is, Rahul. Rahul says I got a new set of
(13:33):
Pirelli weather active. They are all weather with three
mountain peak logo. So there's a major distinction.
And thank you for bringing me up.
Tires, other than bald ones, tires are so important.
It's the only thing between you and the road.
I know people understand that it's holding your car up, but
you've got 6 inch patches of rubber.
That is all that is between you,you know, moving you and slowing
you down that that's it. So if it's crap, you're not
(13:56):
stopping, you're not accelerating, you're not
staying, you know, stuck on the road.
Now all season are not as good as all weather.
So what rule as is awesome because that's actually, you
know, splitting the tire. It's the Swiss army knife of of
tires in that it does truly cover all of the seasons, all of
the weather. A a an all season, a traditional
(14:17):
all season. It's not it's three seasons.
They're still crap in the winter.
They're better than than summer tires, which are best in summer.
And whereas snows are best in orsorry, winters are best in
winter only. And and they're you got to use
the right tool for the job. That's what I'm trying to get
at. OK.
But Rule says it's very good forlazy people.
(14:37):
He's he's you're labeling it yourself.
My friend Bernie Hocko says. Oh, Bernie Hocko, what's going
on now? He's got a channel that talks
about diamond coating. Diamond coating?
No. What's it called?
Ceramic coating motorcycles. Bernie, good to see you.
He's just started following you,Sean.
Great channel. Thanks very much.
Bernie, I appreciate you. But if you shout out to to Hako
(14:59):
there if you need a your your I'm assuming it's motorcycles
only, but maybe it's because I see a logo of motorcycle.
You need to get some ceramic coat and go talk to him.
OK, scrolling back scrolling back.
What do we got here? Landon wants to know if I was
with the OPP. I'm not with anybody anymore,
but I used to be with the Toronto police and I retired
over a year ago. Thanks, Tracy for letting them
(15:21):
know in the comments about that.Tracy's one of our moderators.
Dawson has a question. What was the most expensive
ticket of your or dangerous ticket that you have given out?
Most expensive has to be stunt, giving out lots of them.
Stunt is the one with the biggest ticket price.
Now you know you're talking about A2 to $10,000 fine on
(15:41):
conviction. Aside from the fact that you're
going to get your vehicle impounded for 14 days, you're
going to get a suspension on your license for 30 days.
It's going to screw up your insurance.
Even if you don't get a conviction, just the fact that
that happens to you, it's going to be an impact.
Then when you're convicted, you're looking at the the magic
of a one to three-year subsequent suspension or or
disqualification and then the two to $10,000 fine up to six
(16:03):
months in jail. Like it's just a bad day at the
office. So yes, I've handed out a whole
bunch of those because people will do some really dumb stuff
when they're behind the wheel and they need to be held
accountable. Now, if you thought that was big
money or, or a major consequencefor the first conviction, the
second conviction goes up still 2 to $10,000 fine, but it goes
from a one to three-year prohibition or driving
(16:24):
suspension, whatever you want tocall it, to a three to 10 year.
And on 1/3 conviction it goes upto, well, lifetime.
So yeah, I'm not going to be driving no more, no more.
It's a thing. But no one should be doing that
anyway. That's that's the biggest.
I mean, obviously impaired driving has major consequences
financially. You're looking at a, you know,
15 to $35,000 kind of base defense when you start trying
(16:46):
to, you know, plead your way outor, or get representation.
It's it's not fun. Let's see we got a whole bunch
of comments in here. Let's we'll get back to you in
just one second. I want to have a quick look.
OK, I see. OK, we'll come back to the ex
folks. We got Gord who's been talking
about a couple of things and Lando gang Phoner wants to know
(17:11):
how to bypass a car safety. Don't don't bypass a car safety
drive vehicles that are safe. Oh, John and Ponch, let's get
that on the screen. John and Ponch and the and the
large he met Sarge say hello. So Gord Shumway was recently
visiting the magical folks who played the roles on on on chips.
(17:35):
So Poncharello, Frank Poncharello, John Baker and
Sergeant Catrer were the the actors who played them were
meeting up at an event and he went and said hello.
And of course, because I met them and hung out with them a
couple years ago, meeting my heroes, who was truly, truly
amazing. I'm glad to see that they're
doing well and that you had fun and that they that they send
(17:57):
regards. It's amazing.
And Bernie Hocko says Hawks custom Ceramic.
Thanks for the shuttle. You're very welcome.
Appreciate you. OK, let's see what's going on
here. Landon says if you're talking
about a safety for a car, can you bypass it if you need it?
But but what is a safety bypass to you?
(18:18):
And then RAC says, can I refuse a search?
Pat down? Refuse under what basis?
So you're being investigated. No, you can't say no.
You can't search for me for weapons or drugs.
You're being arrested. It's a it's a search subject to
or or subsequent to arrest. No, you're not going to be told.
You're not going to say no and haven't been nicked very much.
Oh, Tracy says Halloween was cold and wet and windy.
(18:40):
I'm I'm see, I did it from the safety and comfort of my home,
merely opening the door to say here's candy, go have sugar.
I don't think we even ate any ofthe candy, but we gave it away.
I certainly didn't need any of it.
JC, thanks for the follow. Mike Wilson, 5150, thanks for
the follow. If you're watching and you've
never seen the show, my name is Sean Shapiro.
I'm a former police officer. I talk about Traffic Safety,
(19:01):
traffic, a lot of police stuff. My goal is to make roads safer
through education, and that's why I do what I do now.
Recently I spoke to a group of students at a Toronto police run
program that that is working to get young people motivated,
educated and into the driver's seat.
Yes, they're actually working with kids who may have not had
the opportunity to have someone mentor them.
(19:24):
And they're they're teaching them and and guiding them
through presentations from groups like better Traffic
Safety and education that I run and other groups and, and just
amazing work done by the Torontopolice and I commend them for
it. But I really was a pleasure to
speak to some young people. If you are one of the young
people that I spoke to recently on Saturday, say, hey, you know,
I, I invited them all to the live stream.
(19:45):
Hope you don't mind. But it, it was, it was great to
be out. I talk at I, I talk at, I speak
to folks at schools and businesses and it, it is a great
way to talk about safety. You know, ask a traffic op live
and in person. It happens.
All right. If you're watching, by the way,
on any platform, please follow me there and if you would be so
(20:06):
kind, go to the YouTube page voice over crop.
Follow me there. I'm really trying to get to 1000
followers just because we get all those things like tech
support when we get there. And I just got an e-mail saying
that YouTube is going to start introducing voice over dubbed
voice overs in multiple languages.
So you could be watching my entire live stream re dubbed in
Spanish in Espanol. It happens it's amazing it's
(20:29):
already happening on Instagram. If you go to my Instagram page,
you can see my most recent videos and and listen to them in
Hindi. I think Spanish and Portuguese.
So that's a that's an awesome thing.
I've but the beard makes it lookweird because it's AI does sound
like me though. I must say when you have time,
let me know what you think of that in the comments on those on
those on Instagram in particular, because I want your
(20:50):
opinion. OK, Dawson says if I have bright
LED daylights and I think I havemy high beams on, can I get a
ticket? Oh, and a cop thinks I have my
high beams on. You can get pulled over,
investigated, but as long as they're properly directed and
they aren't your high beams and you can show how much brighter
your high beams are, I think you'll be able to discuss that
away. It should be discretionary.
(21:10):
Well, a, you're going to prove that you didn't have your high
beams on, not because they're not on now, because the the
allegation could be, well, you just turned them off, but just
you demonstrate the difference between high beams and low
beams. And many vehicles have automatic
low beams, which is pretty awesome.
Anthony Tusuave wants to know, how do I register a car to my
(21:32):
name and how would I be able to get a plate for the car?
And he says, thanks. You go to Service Ontario, you
transfer the ownership there, you pay your taxes and they've
got you've got a signed bill of sale or you're assuming you're
not buying it through a dealership because they would
make that a lot easier for you and do it all for you.
But you go to Service Ontario, you fill out the paperwork, you
take the previous ownership that's been signed over to you
(21:53):
and you go and say, I want to put this in my name.
You should have a used car package and a safety
certificate. And when you provide all that
information to the folks at Service Ontario, they will
transfer it, charge you the appropriate taxes, issue you a
plate and Bob's your uncle. You also have to have valid
insurance for them to to put it into status for roadworthiness.
Otherwise it's unfit for the road.
(22:16):
Do we got here? Dave Audette, what's going on?
Oh, we I say Portuguese and DaveAudette says hello from
Portugal, my friend. Good to hear from you, my
brother doing. I hope you're doing well.
We've got we got we got a bunch of people, a bunch of people.
Let me go back here on to the tube of you.
(22:36):
OK Guy was having road rage and was tailgating me then tried to
sideswipe me off the road after I gave them the finger.
Will the cops do anything? I called them but they will.
They need evidence. Sorry do they need evidence?
Video evidence. He has their license plate also.
So the guy was being aggressive towards you?
(22:57):
He tried to. I would report him or her or
them or whatever. Will there be charges laid if
it's unlikely that there will becharges late unless you have
video evidence for sure because you're making an allegation,
they will have a very different story, no doubt.
If they have a history of it, ifit, if the officers believe that
it was criminal instead of simply a misunderstanding, they
(23:19):
could lay charges based on your you're, you're making a
statement. But will it happen?
I I think video evidence is, is going to make the the biggest
difference. You know, tailgating is one
thing. If it's seen done, it's an it's
an easy ticket. The running you off the road
business is much more serious. Obviously, the, the, the fact
(23:40):
that you gave them the finger really isn't part of the, the
scenario. However, I'm glad to see that
you're OK. So I'm assuming you're OK.
You didn't say anything about being injured.
And so, so often these road rageincidents turn into something
far more serious where someone is injured when a collision does
occur. Now, the positive, if there can
be a positive, is that there's avery clear reason for police to
(24:01):
attend and they do attend. And then you get to say your
piece. They could say their piece.
And very often that results in acharge, whether it be criminal
or simply HTA. Now here is a wonderful
opportunity to say buy a dash camera if you don't have one,
and you should have one. Every vehicle on the road should
have one. The one thing I can say about
Tesla's that's positive, regardless of what you think of
electric vehicles, is they have the best cameras in the business
(24:23):
because they're 360 cameras and you can store them and submit
them. And I've had such great evidence
assisting me with investigationsspecifically from those cars
because they have that footage. You should have at very least
front and back camera in my opinion.
If you don't have one, you want to get one.
I will have links in the description of this video and
they're they're on the web page.If you go to ask a traffic
(24:45):
cop.ca links to my my Amazon page where I have a number of
products available. If you do buy through those
links, it does support the Canadian organization for better
Traffic Safety and education. You don't, you're buying stuff
anyway. Might as well buy it there.
You don't have to, but if you do, you're doing good work
helping us out. Bernie says.
(25:07):
Sean, you're an experienced motorcycle rider.
Can you speak to riders taking their motorcycles out when the
temperatures are close to freezing?
Effects of cold temperatures on motorcycles and tire traction
tires are such a thing, such a big deal.
And what what folks don't realize.
And thank you for the question, Bernie.
You know, tires change and at least their, their effectiveness
in different conditions change dramatically.
(25:29):
And motorcycles are even more susceptible.
Not only are they susceptible tojust dirty roads, salty sandy
traction, you're, you go from that 6 inch patch in a car times
4 to a tiny like like a toony size patch, maybe a little
larger on a motorcycle. And then you're using the
entirety of the motorcycle tire because you're rolling on it and
(25:51):
it changes where you're making contact.
In any case, it don't stick the way you think it will in colder
weather. And we find that there's an
increase in motorcycle collisions, not so much that
they were hit or hit someone causing the collision, but they
lost control because their tire didn't stick to the road the way
they thought it would. Lost control is the dynamics of
that stickiness. Well, they weren't sticky
(26:14):
anymore. The tires had become hard and
they become hard at a much higher or lower temperature,
Higher temperature. So 7° is when we start saying
people should 7°C + 7 is when the average person should be
switching to their winters. Obviously if you have all
seasons, people don't do it. But motorcycles, yeah, when it's
below 7°, you're really taking risks.
(26:35):
So there are winter tires for motorcycles, although I've never
really seen anyone buy them because we're, we're just not in
a climate that rides all year round.
But take very serious, take thisinto consideration.
Motorcycles are a great summer transportation, even fall,
spring. But when it gets colder, be
careful out there and I would just consider it a time to put
(26:58):
them away. At very least it's not knee
dragon temperature anymore when it gets colder.
And Quinn says greetings ex copper dude.
Hello from IG Brock Vegas. What's going on?
Quinn? It's good to see you.
OK, let's get back to TikTok andwe'll come back again to the
fine folks on on YouTube and allthat jazz in a moment.
(27:19):
Try and spread the love. It's not so easy.
Very often we get into questionsand then other folks feel like
they're being ignored. But we are live and I try and
get to everybody, even though that's not as easy as you might
think. If you're watching on TikTok,
please tap the screen so your fingers going on.
It allows us to have more peoplein the party, more questions,
more more interesting things to talk about.
(27:40):
And for anyone new to the channel, my name is Shawn
Shapiro. I'm a former police officer who
talks about Traffic Safety, traffic law and police stuff.
And if you've got questions, this is where you ask them.
It's not always easy to get a hold of a police officer.
May I feel comfortable talking to a cop?
Even when I was a cop, I know that it was easier on social
media to be approached. And now that I'm not, it's even
easier because I'm not coming toyour house to investigate you.
(28:01):
I wasn't then either. But you know, this sounds
better. If you if you are not able to
get your questions through today, know that you can also
e-mail me voice over cop at Gmail.
You can go to the website askatrafficcop.ca.
You can ask in the comments of any video.
I try and read and respond to everything.
So I'm here for you. It's just a thing.
(28:23):
Yeah. Also share with people that you
think suck as drivers and we we need more people to be educated
moving on. We do we got here.
Do you need do you need the samething you need to say OK, A lot
of people answering the questionabout registering Toronto baby
on TikTok says dude, don't you have something better to do?
(28:43):
I don't know why I made him kindof a surfer, but I think the
comet deserve. Well, he's open with dudes.
So this is something that I do and this is something that I
have chosen as a career path as a police officer focusing on
traffic when I was this is what I did.
And I still think it's valid andimportant now that I'm, you
know, in my post policing life because people need answers to
(29:04):
their questions. So, yeah, I think this is the
best thing I can do. Like the best.
Moving on, Don Amit says trafficcops must meet a minimum quota
of citations. True or false?
False. I've never had a quota.
Listen, I've had people say, listen, if you're out there and
you're not writing an A ticket an hour, you're asleep.
(29:27):
And that's true if you're out there, I I can walk out on any
road and I will find you 5 to 10citations in a matter of
minutes, if not sooner. So if I can do that, what excuse
do I have to not write tickets? If that's my job?
Well, I have no excuse. So whether there are quotas or
not, I'm expected to work for a living as a traffic officer.
(29:48):
Now, every police officer has the ability to write a ticket.
Do they have the time, the functional ability?
Because they have ticket books, they have access to a computer
that I'll write, but the averageofficer cannot write a ticket
because they have no time. And for people who don't
understand it, let me break it down for you.
They get to work and they have apending board.
That means that there are calls in waiting looking for a police
(30:10):
officer to have them assigned tothem.
They get their their stuff. They put their lunch bag in
they, they, they check the lights and sirens, the cameras.
They do their checks and they hit go says I'm ready and they
get a call because they're they're waiting in queue.
There are people who need service.
There's not enough cops available to service them, thus
and ending they get the call, they go to that and guess what
(30:30):
happens when they clear from onecall to the next?
Another call comes in and when they go home at the end of their
shift, if they get to go home ontime, there are calls impending
for the crew coming on. There are always pending calls.
So those people don't get involved with proactive
policing, proactive traffic policing.
Unless they're assigned to a specific enforcement detail,
they don't get to do it. Now we do have, I say we like
(30:50):
I'm still there. The Vision 0 enforcement team
from the Toronto Police Service has dedicated officers.
Now, all officers are dedicated in my opinion, but these are
dedicated to traffic enforcement.
Go out there and they do not getany calls.
They can focus all the time on the mission of enforcement and
we need more of those. We need way more police officers
focused on that, especially withthis crap, with the cameras
being taken down for automatic enforcement, we're going to see,
(31:11):
unfortunately, an increase in speeding, an increase in
collisions, and increase on people being unalived because of
the choices made by the provincial government.
And that's really disappointing. But I do have hope that they'll
be sued as a result of their poor choice.
That's all I can hope for. I won't be involved in it.
I'll happily testify against them.
I testified and you know, to City Council and Vaughn when
they were talking about doing it.
(31:32):
I will happily testify in support of the program and
against the people who chose to get rid of it when there are
damages, you know that you're trying to get.
Now, I'm not advertising myself to say that that I'm available
just free to do that or whether it be volunteer or I'm not
trying to say that you should hire me to come testify.
I'm just saying that they are wrong, they should be held
accountable and when there's lawsuits, I'm sure someone's
(31:53):
going to say, hey can you come testify?
And I vote yes. I will happily do that.
Anyway, moving on. Dad joke from a killer daconis.
By the way, if you have dad jokes, if you are a dad joke
person, please share them in thecomments.
I do like to read them at the end of the show.
The Lando wants to know if tinted headlights are illegal.
They are illegal. You're not allowed to tint the
the you can't. You can only project white and
(32:16):
yellow or amber to the front of the vehicle period.
Reducing the effectiveness of your head beam head beams, your
headlights makes them not functional, not as safe.
And certainly when people use color codings, there's specific
charges for that. We got here slide up here.
Oh, it's too funny. Jerry's a producer.
(32:42):
But two, I'm streaming right now, of course.
My, my, my keyboard is asleep. Let's see here, just responding
to the radio station because I jump on with Jerry Agar on News
Talk 1010 on regular right now. OK, let's see.
(33:05):
Do do do we have Lincoln? Who has a question?
Can AG1 driver have two people in the car?
Yes, However, it's only if the second.
Well, OK, let's let's back it up.
As AG1 driver, you have a certain number of restrictions.
1, you have to be supervised by a qualified G class driver who
has four years driving experience and that is time
(33:27):
spent whilst being AG 2 and G. So if they had three years as
AG, two and one year as AG, they're going to have the four
dots in the bottom right hand corner next to Mini me and they
can actually supervise you, which is fantastic.
Now, if you have somebody that you want to put in the back
seat, no problem. Kids, cousins, friends, there's
(33:47):
no restrictions except you can'thave anybody in between you as
the driver and the supervisor inthe front.
So if the only space you have, like you're in a in a pickup
truck with one lane, then you have only the the you can't have
them. You can't bring anybody else on.
That's it. And you can't drive between
midnight and 5:00 AM the Now in terms of G2 drivers, there are
(34:10):
restrictions. So once you get your G2, you can
drive without a supervising driver and you can drive with as
many people in the car as you have seat belt space for.
Except in the time between midnight and 5:00 AM, you are
restricted to having folks who are either immediate family or
you can only have one person in the first six months that's
(34:30):
under the age of 20, meaning 19 or under.
Or in the second six month period that you are licensed,
you can have up to three betweenmidnight and 5:00 AM who are
under the age of 20. But if you are over the age, I
think it's 21, then that restriction doesn't apply.
OK, next week works. Hang on a second.
(34:51):
Just going to respond to the producer tomorrow.
I'm on at night because 9 PMII switched it around, but next
Tuesday I'm available. I got my click of the clack
keyboard. I like the sound of that at our
(35:16):
regular time. OK, looks like we're going to do
that for next Tuesday. Now let's get back into some
more questions. Some guy double O 6 says you can
also get a 10 day temporary permit to drive it to the
mechanic yes. So it used to be a you can
totally do that. You can get a 10 day if it's
fit. I think it has to be in fit
status. You need it so you can't be
(35:38):
unfit for the road that needs tobe towed if it's unfit for the
road. But if it's just needing a
certificate it came from fit status.
I think that's the condition we'll have to double check that
Shivam says I got a stop sign ticket.
Can you please tell me what you can say in court?
My income depends on he's an Uber driver and then he asked
the same question three times. Please don't spam.
(35:59):
I will get to you. Asking it three times kind of
makes me want to not answer you,but we'll, we'll answer you
anyway. So you got a stop sign ticket.
Your income depends on it because you need to have your
license. Unfortunately, there's nothing I
can tell you to say that would get you out of the ticket
because you did what you you did.
(36:20):
You can't say you didn't see it.You can't say you were
distracted. You couldn't say you were using
your Uber app and not paying attention to the road that that
would all hurt you. I can say that you can take
responsibility. You can ask if you can plead to
a lesser and included offense, which is something that they
often do in court in in court, allowing you to say, you know,
take a lesser offense that doesn't have to merit points.
(36:41):
Or, you know, the big thing is taking responsibility.
If you did it, if you're sorry and if you need to move on with
your life and you you that, that's where I would suggest you
go. You can always hire someone to
do it for you, but you can also do it yourself.
Talk to to ask for a first appearance.
It's one of the options on the back of your ticket.
So if you do say that you'd liketo have a meeting with a
prosecutor for a first appearance, they will tell you
what they're willing to do for you.
(37:03):
You can say, I require my license for work and I'm
terrified of losing it. They can say, too bad, so sad,
but if they're willing to give you a break, they'll be willing
to give you a break there. And if they don't like the
option that they offer you, you can still go to court.
That's an option afterwards. And then you can have the whole
thing. You can you can have a trial if
you think you have a defense, oryou can simply fall on your
sword again in court and say, your worship, which is what you
(37:26):
address the justice of the peaceas I screwed up.
I'm willing to take responsibility.
But, you know, in the interest of being able to feed my family
in these hard times, you know, Ineed I need help.
And they can either the prosecutor before you even go
through that business, can either say we'll give you a
break. It could be a different person
than than you spoke to originally.
Or you could say, like, if it's financial, we'll give you time
(37:47):
to pay. Let's say we give you 6 months
to pay the $110 fine instead of one shot.
Or maybe they reduce it. Lots of options.
OK, moving along. Don asked again about quotas.
We already addressed it. Do what do we got here?
No cops. Oh, Bannock says no, cops do not
have a quota. It's true.
OK, Klim says all terrain, we'retalking about tires.
(38:11):
So all terrain tires are are arepotentially good, but they're
meant it's an off road tire. It's not necessarily a tire
that's going to be good in snow.Very bulky knobby tires have a a
disrupted contact patch. Like there's still the core of
the tire is going to be touchingthe road, but it doesn't
necessarily do well. Like, OK, all season or winter
(38:31):
tires are temperature situations, not traction, not as
much pattern as you may think. It's mostly about the, the
composite of the OR the make up of the tire, the type of rubber.
And when it gets hard as opposedto flexible.
And when a tire becomes rigid orhard, it's a problem because it
(38:53):
doesn't conform to the road doesn't, doesn't, isn't as
malleable. OK, I'm scrolling back as I've
seen a lot of questions come in and I want to get more stuff and
things more answers to you all for anyone while I'm scrolling,
who says who is this guy and whyis he on my screen?
Well, my name is Shawn Shapiro. I'm a former police officer.
I used to work in the city of Toronto and I was a traffic
(39:15):
specialist and I am still a traffic guy at heart, always
will be. So if you if you've got
questions, I generally have answers.
If I don't, we'll figure it out.We will.
We will phone a friend, we'll dosomething, but we'll get you
answers and the information you need.
OK JC says rental car driver notadded as additional driver still
(39:35):
allowed to drive legally on insurance.
So rental car. OK so legally the deal is that
when you rent a motor vehicle, you're entering into an
agreement with the at least the renter is entering into
agreement with the company that you're renting it from.
So if you get pulled over as a driver and you have a license,
(39:58):
you have the ownership rental agreement saying that the
vehicle's being rented, the police don't much care.
It's not illegal to drive the car, but they could deny you
coverage because you violated the agreement.
So if I rent it, they say you'rethe only person we're
authorizing to drive the car. That's a condition of us renting
it to you and a condition that they qualify you as a valid
(40:19):
licensed driver giving permission to you and you alone
to operate that vehicle. So if there was an emergency and
somebody else drove it. Could they deny you?
They could, would they? That's up to them.
It's a private arrangement. It's not a police question as to
whether it's legal. I hope that helps.
If it doesn't help or if you're still questioning about it,
please let me know because I'm happy to do it again.
(40:41):
Breach block says an all around good human.
Oh, and then we got Stephen Bellsays, what do you think about
Doug Ford who took away the speed cameras?
I think Doug Ford. I'm not going to talk about Doug
Ford. I, I, I, I generally don't have
a problem with Doug Ford. I met him a nice enough guy.
I think he made a really crappy decision with all his speed
camera nonsense. I think it's a big mistake.
(41:03):
I'm not happy with the fact thatthey're removing them.
I don't think there's any justification other than
possibly making people happy whodon't like getting tickets but
like to speed. OK, let's go here JP sent oh JP
sent a number of gifts. Thank you very much Mercedes
sent a rose too. Appreciate you got a bunch of
people who followed including integrity.
Thank you very much. Oh, Don says so Don asked a
(41:27):
question of police get a a quota.
And then when we said no, they responded saying as if the
numbers of citations are used inperformance reviews.
Yes, they do. So you, you have a belief that
there is. So anything you do counts
towards your review. How many reports you write, how
(41:47):
many calls you attended, how many tickets you wrote, That's
not a quota. Looking at the work you've done
says you've done a lot of work where you've done nothing
because they're measuring your work.
It is not a quota. I like how you try and twist it
like it is, but it's not. The quota is if you don't meet
this number, a quota, a given expectation.
(42:07):
You will be documented, you willbe put in crappy duties, you
will be sent home early. That's a quota where you get
punished for not meeting a requirement being evaluated.
Measured is just measuring. I guess you could, you could
like if there's no consequence for not meeting the quota.
(42:27):
How about this one? I know people who have never
written a ticket in their careerother than when they were being
trained as a recruit, 20 years as a cop, never written a
citation. Why?
Because they're going call to call to call to call to call,
arresting bad guys and helping people who are dealing with
major situations. And they never got a chance, not
even an opportunity to write a ticket.
But they were working Honest day's work.
(42:48):
If they weren't going to those calls and they weren't writing
tickets, they'd be doing nothing.
But when it's Tim horton's, that's not OK.
So I, I appreciate that you're trying to twist it to suggest
that there are quotas when thereare not.
But there are not. Oh, Mike Wilson, 5150 says, how
do I get a license for a homemade bicycle with a motor?
You don't. It needs to be.
Oh, actually, I shouldn't say you don't.
(43:09):
You could effectively get that taken to what is it get a a VIN.
You need to have a a vehicle identification number issued to
it like a like a custom made caror a custom made motorcycle.
It would be the same thing. So you need to have that meet
all the requirements of a motor vehicle because it is 1.
So it'd have to be get it safetied and issued and it's
(43:31):
it's what's it called Transport Canada.
I think issues that Bannock saysmy dad's a cop and he told me no
because you're Bannock. Your dad who is is a cop.
I told you no is absolutely correct.
There are no quotas. OK, Dawson says.
Oh, Dawson says that's horrible.I lost my license once for
speeding 2 years ago and I definitely learned my lesson.
(43:54):
That's the whole idea of tickets.
Tickets aren't there to make money on you.
Tickets aren't there to have fun.
Tickets are there to dissuade you from ever doing it again.
It worked on me when I was a kid, got a couple of tickets for
speeding. I got a stop sign ticket.
Those things ended after I was 16 or 17 years old.
I never got another ticket. It was done better choices
afterwards. That's what it's all about.
(44:15):
Let's see here Nicholas Rizzi says why do we have to talk to
the court people with your worship?
It's 2025, not the 5th century King Arthur's court.
It feels weird. Do you people say hello,
peasant? Which you know why I fled you
over? Nicholas Rizzi's a, a comedian
who has perspectives like no other, and I appreciate him so
much. So, yeah, it's, there's formal
(44:38):
titles. Listen, it's, it's your worship.
Is, is what you say. And, and there's also titles for
mayors and stuff like I, I everyone gets a fancy title when
you have fancy positions. And no, no one's ever referred
to as a peasant. I I should hope not anyway,
Bannock says. Glad the cameras are gone.
(44:58):
Police can do their jobs and patrol the roads.
Bannock, I and I know you mentioned that your father's a
police officer. I don't disagree.
The police officers are the best.
They would be the ideal solutionto problems.
However, there's not enough of them available.
And as I mentioned earlier in the show, there's not enough
time in a day or officers free to do the enforcement needed to
make the road safe. So you take away you, you like,
(45:18):
like like Premier Ford says, youknow, we'll put signs and
flashing lights that'll make people know that that we already
have speed limits, you know, just like we have drug laws and
gun laws. And that doesn't stop people
from doing stupid things. So unless you actually give a
consequence, it doesn't change the behavior and the risk of
possibly getting pulled over by a police officer very, very low
(45:39):
in all things considered. First of all, they can only pull
over one person at a time withinreason.
I mean, sometimes you can pull over a group of cars, but
generally speaking is 11 to 1. And when you pull over, 150 go
by, right? So they may all be breaking the
law, but only one's getting caught.
The automated enforcement make sure that 50 out of 50 get
caught. I like that because that's the
real consequence of everyone being caught.
(45:59):
Even when the police officers busy helping somebody with
their, you know, domestic abuse or, or whatever's going on in
their world, you're not relying on 25 officers for a city to do
the enforcement because everybody else is busy 25
enforcement officers. It's ridiculous.
You need to have automated enforcement.
And I, I wish we had enough officers to do it all, but we
(46:20):
don't. Mr. Dixie, I almost got caught
with your name. Where do you go to report bad
cops? You can report them.
Well, you can. You can make a Leka, the law
enforcement complaints or what'sit called?
Agency Leka is the law enforcement complaints agency.
They got a website. You can go there.
You can go to any police station, talk to a Sergeant.
You can make reports if if thereare bad cops, they deserve to be
(46:42):
found reported and they shouldn't work as a police
officer, Lapchung says. Do you have a YouTube channel?
Yes, it's voice over cop. And if you go to ask a traffic
cop.ca you can get a link to it.Thanks for asking.
We got Quinn says Sean has a title.
It's X copper dude. I definitely don't have a title
(47:04):
of any any major importance. Oh, it's so funny.
I the the only comments I get from Kik lately are hey, do you
want to buy followers? I'm like, no, not interested,
but thanks. Thanks for asking me if I can
donate some money to a bot farm.I've got so close.
If you've got dad jokes, let me know because I like to add dad
jokes to the end of the show. Oh, Brandon says his special
(47:31):
title is magical chef. Well, you know, when you're part
of Disney, it it truly is magical.
Brandon, send me your you got tosend me your you may have sent
it to me already, but I got to give you a call today.
I want to ask you a question. He's a magical chef with magical
cars in in a magical land. Although he's currently local
because he just got back. He he actually works.
I don't know how to describe you.
You used to be a full time chef here, then you sort of semi
(47:53):
retired and now you're like a Disney chef all over the place.
OK, yes, we got that. We covered this.
Don really doesn't like this concept that Don keeps on coming
back to ask if his. So I will tell you this Don, I
have never had the number of tickets I write ever, ever
(48:16):
brought up in a performance review.
There are there are numbers you can look up your stats, you can
see who's highest in the group, in your in your platoon or in
your station. But never have I ever had a
discussion as to how many tickets I've written appear
anywhere on a performance review.
It never says, hey, he's doing really well.
He writes a lot. Never written, never impacted my
(48:39):
my scores. I've always been scored well in
my performance reviews. Has not because it's not about
the number, It's about how are you doing compared to everybody
else? Is there room?
Is there room for improvement? And how are you with people?
How are you with your peers? It's about emotional
intelligence. It's not about performance and
writing tickets. It's you're so off base.
(49:00):
It doesn't. You're wrong.
Yes, if you do nothing, if you're a dog, how do I put you
know what I was going to say? If if you do nothing all day
because you're you're effing thedog, then then that's what
you're known as and that's got nothing.
You don't even need to look at stats.
We just know you're doing nothing all day and everybody
knows it. It's not like you're hiding
(49:20):
anyway. The NBK clan says the OPP is
crooks. They robbed me 10 years ago,
took my money, says what money? Got no respect for them.
Don't know what you're talking about.
You're making allegations. If your allegations are founded,
you should probably hire a lawyer and get them to do
something. I just realized I mean looking
at the coffee but not drinking the coffee.
(49:44):
Rahul says hey someone cut me off badly on the four O 1 near
Oshawa and almost hit me. I have dash camera footage.
You can certainly report them. The OPPI believe has a portal.
I know that Toronto police does and so is your regional police
where you can actually, you should actually go and make a
report. It may not result in charges,
(50:05):
but at very least it'll, it'll start a, a chapter of
monitoring. And I say that not because
they're going to go spy on them, but because if you make a report
and somebody else makes a report, now there's behaviors on
record. They might send a letter to the
registered owner. They might, they might pay them
a visit. But at very least, if they cause
a collision later, they'll be a history of multiple things that
they've done wrong that could, you know, be used in court.
(50:28):
Like we have a history of seeingthis person do things because
the public keeps on making reports and here they are
causing a collision. Looky, looky.
It's a thing. All right, Don, Don really got
to stick up his rear about, about citations and things.
So he says to Tracy, our, our moderator, you agree there are
(50:49):
minimum expectations for a number of citations.
No, What, what, what Tracy said was that you're expected to do
your job. That's what she said.
So don't, don't try and twist it, you anti policer.
It's so funny. OK, do laser jammers work?
They work at getting you in trouble.
Laser jammers do present false information.
(51:10):
They do send a fixed speed lowerthan that of what you are
traveling at, which means that when you have a laser, well,
there's two different ways. There's one that gives no
result. Then we look at you and go,
there's a laser jammer on there. And if there is a result, but
it's far lower than it should be, then we say, hey, there's a
vehicle that's going far slower according to our device.
There's also errors that come upand there's detectors that
(51:32):
detect it. Usually it's an error code that
lets us know, which means we pull you over and investigate
you for having something that interferes with our ability to
measure your speed. And there's a fine for that.
And we can confiscate the equipment.
And yeah, it, it, it doesn't save you.
It, it complicates things because now we're taking apart
your car with our multi tool trying to find it.
And we do have that authority. People don't like that.
(51:53):
They usually hand over the device or point it out.
So it can be removed with as little damage as possible.
But I mean, I always carry toolswith me and I was always happy
to take things apart. I tinker.
You can put it back together after.
That's your problem. But don't put illegal crap on
your vehicle. Boom boom Bernie says.
This is Bernie Hocko from I wantto scroll back so I say the
(52:18):
right name because it's for Hawks custom ceramic ceramic
coating for motorcycles. He's asking for suggestions for
motorcycle riders on defensive riding referring directly to
protecting yourself make yourself seen with drivers
turning left in front of you from the opposite direction.
Listen I I I having been the therecipient of a bumper as as a
(52:39):
guy drove into me as he was turning out of a driveway onto
the road with that I was travelling on.
I can tell you that you are in abad spot when you're in a
motorcycle and you make contact with another vehicle.
Just you, you need to have your head on a swivel.
You have to be better than everybody else.
You have to be more skilled. You have to practice your
skills. You need to assume the worst
and, and, and drive defensively.Take professional riding school
(53:01):
100%. That's what you should do.
And you should take refresher courses and advanced rider
courses as much as possible. Obviously it's not, it's not
free. So you know, one thing that we
did with the motor squad was practice, practice and pay
attention. You know, one of the nice things
about motorcycles is you can't ride while being on your phone.
So many drivers are, are fidgeting around with all their
(53:23):
their electronics and their gadgetry.
Well, when you're on a motorcycle, you got your, your
job cut out for you. You're riding and hopefully
you're entertained and enjoying it.
Otherwise you should probably shouldn't be on one.
I have seen food delivery peoplemessing around with magical
devices for doing their Uber deliveries, and I've also seen
them smoked at at intersections and approaching intersections
(53:46):
because they're distracted. So Hako says I've seen an
increase in fellow riders getting hit by cars from
opposite direction. Turning left.
Well, left turn is one of your highest, you know, points.
You're going straight, you mightbe going fast and someone turns
in front of you because they're asleep at the wheel.
Well, guess what? You still get broken and
hospitalized. So you have to have to have to
(54:06):
be better. And you should not be speeding.
You should not be, you know, in La La land you have to be
focused and you have to anticipate what's going to
happen. Now you're not psychic, I'm not
suggesting you should be, but you need to be able to respond
and other drivers need to be paying attention.
For riders, they just don't know.
Either you show up as invisible, you know, you got 1 headlight,
(54:28):
they think you're a car that's further away, or they're just on
their phone not doing what they're supposed to be doing.
There's so many things. Motorcycling is inherently
dangerous, but so is driving. And if you focus on doing the
best job you can, following the law and driving safely in your
environment, you're, you're off to a good start.
Watch those cars. If, if, if there's something
that's, that's waiting to go left, they're the problem.
(54:48):
And they might be meeting you inthe middle.
Bernie, if you want to add to anything, please jump in.
And Bernie, you should come jointhe show sometime.
I would love to have you on to talk about I, I need to know
more about ceramic coating. I'm not like 100%.
I have no idea how this works. I just see little bottles of
stuff that people talk about andI don't understand what it does.
Does it does it change things ona molecular level?
Serious question, Exclusive saysHey, Officer Shapiro, I hope you
(55:10):
are well. I'm hoping to apply for to
appeal police. I'm mostly worried about the
fitness tuning portion. Fitness tuning portion?
You mean that once you get hiredor getting ready to be hired,
the application process requiresyou to be physically fit and the
standards are set out in in in plain sight.
They're not. There's no secrets.
(55:31):
Train train, train to the point where you can do more than
what's required of you. So you're not gassed and trying
to just pass, but you're breezing through it because you
train beyond the goals. That's what you need to do.
Feel free to reach out to me. Ask a traffic cop.
Actually just go to voice over cop at Gmail.
You can send me a personal message there.
Happy to give you some tips on what I used to to get through
(55:52):
the testing because obviously I had to and running sucks.
They said exclusive says running.
Yeah, though they meant fitness running portion running sucks.
I'm not a runner. I, I, I'm, I'm over 300 lbs, six
foot 5 big guy. Big guys are have a lot more
weight to to get going and then slow down and turn around and
get going on the shuttle runs back and forth.
It's not the straight line running.
(56:12):
Straight line running is less ofan issue.
Shuttle run. It's an No2 Max test.
I have some tips for it talked about it before.
I'm happy to talk about it again.
Let me know let me know if you need that We'll we'll discuss
user with lots of numbers on YouTube says lots of respect to
all police admire so much now with all the cameras on us for
(56:32):
every move we make Myers, I think I think you said admire.
Listen, I, I have no issue with with cameras.
I really don't I like them as police officers because they
they what they do is they all the false allegations against
police. We hit play and then we see what
really happened and the the complaint goes away because
they're unfounded. I have no problem if you do
(56:54):
nothing wrong. Cameras are not scary.
Oh, I love this breach. Block says there are no there
are no quotas. Police can write as many as they
like. I, I used to actually always
quote Frank Poncherello from, from Chips, the character and
say, yeah, I know, I, there's noquotas.
The, my Sergeant said I can write as many as I like.
I, I said that all the time, both on the show as well as in
(57:17):
the, on, on the show and on the road.
I, I was legit. I'm a big fan.
One of the reasons I became a police officer was because I
watched Chips as a kid, fell in love with being a motorcycle
cop, and I got to do what I wanted to do.
Dream met, Irky says what up traffic, bro, you should play
Grand Theft Auto, but only follow the road rules.
I got no time for video game story.
(57:38):
Busy working, busy doing stuffing things.
We got Oh, Don says to Tracy City Cop told me the department
had unofficial contests of most citations a month.
That's not a quota, that's friendly rivalry, and that's not
hard to do. I wrote as many as I could write
in a day. I couldn't write more because I
(57:58):
was busy writing them. You can only write as many as
you can write. So that's not a competition.
That's just being useful. And Marcin says hi.
So speed cameras going to be removed.
What do you think about that? I hate it.
I think they should be here. I don't think they should be
removed. I think they're an amazing tool,
as do all the the Traffic Safetyprofessionals that I know and
(58:19):
talk to, as well as all the the police folks that I read about
on in the paper. Even I had an article published
in the Global Mail on the topic and everybody I know that is in
related Traffic Safety says thatthey are needed, necessary and
and good for us to have because they are proven to slow traffic
down, which goes directly against everything that the
(58:40):
government has said in their nonsensical removal of them.
But hey, it's politics. Bannock says.
It's great. The cameras are gone.
Police can do their jobs patrolling.
Police always could do their jobs patrolling.
It's but but you, what you're not picking up is that they're
busy and don't have time to do proactive patrols that they're
just not. It means there's going to be
less tickets issued, more deadlycollisions.
(59:03):
Bald Eagle Miller says hi Sean, could you elaborate on
differences between careless driving versus stunt driving,
please? Thanks.
So careless driving is simple. It is, it is simple.
It is where you undo care and control is careless.
So you're, you're driving in such a way that you're, you're,
you're driving is unsafe and you're not doing what you need
(59:23):
to do to be properly putting it safely in on the road.
That's a really terrible example.
Drinking water. If I'm chugging water and
looking at the ceiling and I'm swerving, that's careless
driving. 6 Damara points, bad day at the office, 395 dollars,
I think, or is it going to 495 anyway, It's it's a it's a chunk
of cash. And at one point careless was
(59:44):
seen as like the end all be all. That was the big ticket.
The problem is we started seeinghigh intent situations, high
intent intentional acts like doing 150, doing 50, over
burnouts, Donuts, wheelies, all of these things, Jack Rabbit
starts. All of those things are well
(01:00:04):
beyond that of careless. They're bordering on criminal
intent dangerous, and they gave them something lesser, lesser
than criminal, but a more impactful charge to address the
kind of behavior which is super dangerous.
And then you've got those, those13 to 15 triggers that are stunt
driving, which take a 14 day vehicle impound a 30 day
(01:00:25):
suspension and further suspensions on conviction one to
three years in the in the first time you're convicted 3 to 10 on
the second. So it's, it's a, it's a very
different side of things. It's it's definitely
acknowledging the immediacy of the consequence because one says
we'll give you a ticket in the mail.
You can give you a ticket and you can come deal with it later,
but drive away. The other one is we're taking
(01:00:46):
your stuff now. Thanks for coming out.
And it's important to have that immediate consequence.
The other issue is before the immediate consequence, people
were just pleading it down, right?
They were just getting rid of stuff.
They would take an offense and they were just plead the 495 or
whatever the, the, the careless down to speeding.
Make it a slap on the wrist. Well, the, the government, I, I
(01:01:06):
credit the Ontario government for this because they said, no,
we're not, we're not doing this game anymore.
We're going to make it that we're taking me giving
administrative consequences so that we do it immediately.
You don't walk away going we'll,we'll, we'll, we'll play games
in court. You're going to even if you
lose, even if you win in court, even if you are dismissed for
whatever reason, you've already had almost $2000 of consequence,
(01:01:28):
even if nothing happens in court, stops the games or
reduces it. OK, Bernie wants to know if
you're allowed to relocate your motorcycle license plate under
the rear Fender. License plates must be visible
clearly at a conspicuous location and must be illuminated
(01:01:48):
as required by law. So motorcycles only require a
rear plate and must be plainly visible when they people put it
under the rear Fender. It is a problem.
It's a problem because it's not illuminated unless they try and
put a little tiny LED to try andmeet the requirements.
But if it's not plainly visible,it's not visible unless it's not
within its legitimate required under the do I remember the
(01:02:09):
section? I don't remember the section.
However, there's a regulation for plate mounting.
We could we could talk about that on a video.
That's funny, Tracy. Thank you.
Tracy's losing her mind with Don, who's really, really stuck
on this. Cops have a quota.
Even. You know what?
I think we should have a quota. I think every cop should write
as many tickets every day. And if they don't meet their
(01:02:31):
minimum of yesterday, they should have to write twice as
much the next day. Who cares?
They're catching people who are breaking the law.
If there aren't quotas, we should make quotas.
And I think Don, you should be our poster child for someone who
needs more tickets. It's hilarious.
What's your issue? You got a ticket and you want to
say that's because they were meeting a quota instead of
(01:02:51):
legitimately writing a ticket, you deserve for breaking the law
quotas, even if there there are no quotas.
But if there were quotas, I'd have no problem with it because
they still have to write legitimate tickets.
Now where the issue is or would come in is if they felt
pressured to write tickets that weren't legitimate, like for one
kilometer over, no one's writingA1 kilometer ticket to make a
quota. Because you know what would
happen if you showed up with a with a fistful of tickets that
(01:03:13):
were 1 kilometer over? You would be made fun of for
one. You'd likely be pulled into the
supervisor's office and ripped apart for wasting the court's
time and wasting the the public's time and working
against building bridges in the community.
Because tickets aren't about breaking things down.
We're not punishing you for for,for stupid things that just just
(01:03:36):
to try and make a buck or, or ormake a supervisor happy.
I think that's what you're alluding to or suggesting is
happening. It's not like when I was writing
tickets on in a 60 zone, I was looking for 25% over the posted
limit when I was doing stop signs.
If you screwed up your stop sign, if it wasn't perfect, if
you if you rolled a little bit, but you made efforts to see, I
didn't stop people for that. I stopped people who were doing
(01:03:58):
10 to 15 kilometers an hour through stop signs, never making
an effort to even touch their brakes because I was about
enforcing the real consequence for real things that were
causing real problems and not bogus trumped up stuff to make
numbers because there's no quota.
Go away enough. Oh, that's funny.
(01:04:20):
I say that and then the next thing I read is Dodd.
Do cops ever get disciplined forwriting false citations?
Lying in court? Yeah, it's not allowed.
You can't lie in court. You would discredit yourself,
Your, your testimony would be crap when you if you're ever
convicted of of anything that would any criminal charge or if
you're found to be distrustful, you're done.
You'd never be able to go to write tickets again.
(01:04:42):
You'd be garbage after that. I don't know.
You must have had some really terrible experience or someone's
fed you a load of crap. Anyway, moving on, what are your
thoughts on the police F-150? I like it.
And now I don't know about a police model F-150 pursuit
vehicle. I just know that I've driven
some F1 fifties, I've owned someF1 fifties.
I love them. If you put stickers on them and
(01:05:04):
A and a light bar, I'm all over it.
That that would be the most comfortable vehicle for me to
ride or drive I should say, because everything else is
small. I'm 6 foot 5 and a big boy, so
F-150 was made for me. Oogie says Rd. pirates are Rd.
pirates. No, not Rd. pilots.
(01:05:24):
I think you're alleging that thepolice are Rd. pirates because
they're issuing tickets for people breaking the law.
No, if they were, if they were pulling you over, not breaking
the law, just trying to get to work legally and then taking
everything that you had in the vehicle and leaving you at the
side of the road, maybe then pirate.
But it's a funny allegation. But Badoo, we talked about that.
(01:05:49):
OK, do cops ever get we talked about that?
Hey, cut me off. What is this we talked about
that is it easier to get into the police force if I go for
police foundations first? I don't think so.
I think you can just apply when you're eligible as long as you
can pass all the testing. Alicia says hi, Sean.
Hope all is well. All is well.
(01:06:11):
Thanks for checking in. Appreciate you.
OK. License should be more difficult
than Gran Turismo B license. We should have higher standards
for driving and you know, for all the people who say that
Germany has it all has it all down path.
(01:06:32):
They go fast and lower collisions.
They have better drivers. They can have an autobahn
because their drivers are generally more responsible
actually have lane discipline. They they do things right in
Europe. They don't give everybody a
license like it came out of a Cracker Jack box like we do
here. Gord Shumway says.
Got to go. Hunter's on.
Is Hunter still on there? I I love watching Hunter.
(01:06:52):
That was a great show. Now I got to go, like, look for
it all night, OK? Taha says.
Sean, I saw a collision when I was passing by there again, both
parties were still arguing. Why didn't they just call
police? Should I have called the police?
So if they're arguing, police probably needed to attend if
there was any risk of, you know, not surrendering information, if
(01:07:16):
there was a possibility of criminal behavior, But that's
it's really incumbent on them. If you were worried about their
safety, you could have certainlycalled and said, hey, and I've
done this before. I, I, I, I can't stop, but I saw
a collision here. Doesn't look like there's any
injuries, but they're yelling ateach other.
That's enough. Let the police determine whether
or not they're they're going to attend.
Most collisions don't require the police to attend anymore
unless someone's being transported by by ambulance to
(01:07:36):
hospital. If someone's injured, if
there's, you know, alcohol or drugs or, or insurance, that
sort of thing, that's when police need to get involved.
But an average Fender Bender, you can just exchange
information and get off the roadand keep the traffic going.
Username BG says, how often do you issue distracted driving
tickets? I'm no longer a police officer
like it says on the screen. Former police officer.
(01:07:57):
But I used to write them all daylong.
That was one of the major pet peeves for me.
So I wrote them every time I sawone.
If you touched your phone, whether you're on a voice, you
know, a video call or you were, you were watching TV.
Like I've seen it all and I've issued tickets for it because
those are tickets that are worthy.
People don't realize the consequence or what the risks
(01:08:18):
are with the joy of like people.People just do dumb stuff by the
wheel anyway, moving along. If you're watching and you don't
know who I am, please pay attention to this.
That sounds weird. My name is Shawn Schaver.
I'm a former police officer who talks about Traffic Safety,
traffic, a lot of police stuff. If you're not following me,
what's wrong? Why aren't you following me?
(01:08:38):
I go live twice a week. Used to do it five days a week.
But, you know, we're slowing down.
Tuesdays at 10 AM, Wednesdays at9:00 PM, at least an hour.
We're doing an hour and 10 minutes so far.
I think we'll do another 15 or 20.
And then I gots to go. So yeah, Yeah, we'd love to have
you following. And I would love it if you would
share and endorse this as a showworth watching.
(01:08:59):
Let people know you've got friends or family that drive
that need some stuff information.
I'm here for you now. You can also add comments in the
in in videos when you we have posted videos.
If you comment there, I'll try and answer.
I I do my best to answer everything.
OK, moving along. Bruv says, hey, it's been
(01:09:22):
awhile. Glad you're blessing us with
your knowledge and humor. Have a great day.
Thanks, bruv. Appreciate you.
OK, Tracy says the more education the better.
Make skilled based licensing. Yeah, that would be good.
We've got our traffic police only for traffic issues.
(01:09:42):
That's Marcin asking. No police officers or police
officers. Traffic officers happen to have
a specialty that includes investigation of collisions and
enforcement and and other thingslike I was a motorcycle officer
so I was involved with Level 3 escorts and all sorts of things
like that dignitary or calculatewhat's it called?
Facilitated moves. Yeah, we have I think we talked
(01:10:05):
about that username BG says. So there's officers specifically
for traffic. There are officers who focus on
it just like there's tactical officers who work in the
tactical units and deal with, you know, barricaded hostages
situations as opposed to, you know, some officers who are just
doing regular 911 calls and all police are doing valuable police
(01:10:26):
work. Some of them just get into
specialties that need additionaltraining.
And that's what traffic and tactical and motorcycle and all
that jazz, You know, Marine and dog, they're just specialties.
Semir Naj says, Is a jackrabbit turn a stunt driving charge?
Yeah. If you turn left in front of
oncoming traffic when the light turns green before that oncoming
(01:10:48):
traffic has an opportunity to travel, then yes, yes, that is
stunt driving. Ogie says MTO testing is a joke.
Make reaction time and necessity.
Samurai says. Is he reading for another stream
chat? Yes, I am on several platforms.
99 platforms in total. Why are radar detectors illegal
in Ontario but legal in other parts of Canada?
(01:11:09):
It's stupid. They should be illegal
everywhere. Nowhere should you be able to
drive with a device that tells you police are monitoring you
and you should slow down temporarily.
You should not be able to speed, and if you speed you should get
caught. That's what it's all about.
So if you have any device that prevents police from measuring
and enforcing speed limits, you are in violation.
(01:11:30):
It's $170 fine. I believe it's two demerit
points. We can seize the vehicle or at
least seize the the device in the vehicle.
We can search the vehicle. That's right.
Let's talk about and it's good. It's good.
It doesn't happen very, very often anymore.
We used to get a lot more of them, but it does happen on
occasion. And when you're the recipient of
that ticket and the scratch marks from our tool trying to to
(01:11:51):
tear off the device that you've installed because you're not
allowed to have it, they cry. They cry a lot.
They usually just take the device and hand it over.
Martin wants to know about riding on a windshield.
Is it illegal? I've seen someone have still
dark tints on front window. So first of all, you're not
allowed to have any tints on thefront windshield.
You can't have writing that thatis anywhere inside of the area
(01:12:12):
that is sweeping or being swept by your windshield wipers.
So banners and stickers and things.
So my can't have that Unsafe motor vehicle or obscured vision
depending. Or it could be a combination
thereof. What speed do cops, sorry, what
speed do cop cars drop chase when they determine it's unsafe
for other people on the road? So a pursuit, it happens when we
(01:12:35):
turn on our lights and sirens and you fail to stop.
That's a pursuit. When do we call off a pursuit?
When we feel that the risk to public safety is such or not
just the officer, but anybody onthe radio, because you're on the
radio dispatching your provided information about the vehicle.
So it could be a bird in the aircoming to find you or could be
officers waiting at your home. Don't run from the police.
It's stupid, Steve says. Do you have to wait for the
(01:12:59):
railway lights or railroad lights to stop flashing before
you cross, even if the train haspassed?
Yes, while the lights are flashing, you are not permitted
to cross. Now there's a good reason for
that, because while one train isgoing this way and it's
flashing, another train can be coming the other way, causing it
to continue flashing longer. If you assume that the gates are
up and you should go, that is a good way to die.
(01:13:20):
Just saying. So it's illegal as well.
How do I beat this stunt drivingcharge?
Apparently I was going 213 and 100, but I genuinely wasn't.
If you genuinely weren't doing that speed, I would hope you'd
be able to provide some level ofevidence of that.
At very least, you should be able to challenge the
information from the officer. I don't have to tell you.
(01:13:42):
You need to come and say you weren't doing what you said, you
were doing what they said you were doing.
Beyond that, I don't have any advice to give you.
I couldn't tell you that there'sa magic fix, but 213 is legit
too fast. In fact, 150 is legit too fast.
So what speed were you going? Because I don't think the
(01:14:02):
argument is, you know you were only doing 200 because that's
still stunned. OK, I am definitely a bit behind
in the questions. I'm just catching up.
I see the same questions coming up.
How do I beat the I just read it.
What's the first step to becoming a police officer?
Make the decision that you want to serve.
(01:14:23):
There's a big consequence, a big, a big giving.
It's a, it's a different type oflife.
It's it's a calling. So if you've determined that's
what you want to do, then start looking at your life because you
have to start, you have to be able to answer all the
questions, everything from everyjob you've ever had.
Look at your driving history. Look, make honest, like looking.
(01:14:44):
You have to have an honest look at yourself because if you have
issues with credits, if you haveissues with your driving, if you
have any criminal behavior, that's going to be stuff that's
going to come out. If you have any weird stuff that
came out as other people, because you're going to give
references that are going to say, well, you know, we think
he's a little bit off. We don't think you'd make a good
please. Well, that's going to come out
too, because you're going to talk to your neighbors and
friends and family. It's it's it's it's a job That
(01:15:05):
it that they they're looking under the hood.
Yes, Alicia wants to know if youhave.
So if you have to follow the recommended speed on curves, my
driving instructor says no, it'snot an enforceable speed.
It is a speed, however, that is determined based on engineering.
Well, the engineers who say if you go beyond the speed you're,
(01:15:26):
if it's not ideal conditions, you're probably going to be off
in the field. So if you want to stay on the
road, you should follow those. If your driving instructor is
saying that you don't have to, they're right from an
enforcement perspective because the speed limit you're trying to
get up to speed on the highway, but when you smash your car or
lose control and end up in the Bush, they're not paying your
(01:15:47):
bills. So speed limits are are are are
marked for ideal situations? Yes.
Anything outside of ideal you, you're taking your life in your
own hands, but you won't be charged for speeding on them
necessarily because we don't do enforcement of us anyway.
OK, moving on. But thanks for the interesting
(01:16:07):
question. I got to scroll back.
Holy moly. A lot of stuff.
What do we got here? Wicked says.
What's up from an RCMP traffic cop.
Hey, Wicked, how's it going? Are you going to join the show?
We need, we need some RCMP representation.
One second. I got to find you here.
(01:16:27):
I'll follow you back. Or if you're not already
following me, follow me and I'llfollow you back.
And and then I'll I'll find you.I mean, we'll have you on the
show. The goal is to have cops from
every jurisdiction on the show. It's not about me answering
stuff all the time. I'd be.
I'm doing it because I haven't found people who want to do it
or have permission to do it anymore.
But yeah, the goal is to have active duty police officers join
(01:16:48):
me as guests, Tracy says. I've been told as a spouse I can
drive and I'm covered by my husband's rental.
So it's, it's up to the the the rental company as to how they
determine who's allowed and who's not.
But generally speaking, they want your license on file.
(01:17:09):
And that's again, legally isn't an issue.
It's about rental companies agreement.
So they'll ask you who will there be any other drivers?
They want to know if they're over 25, if they're under 25
because they charge a premium for insurance.
Yeah, let's see here. This, this user, lots of numbers
says I got into a collision. The guy said I am a cop multiple
(01:17:31):
times. If the guy said I am a wait, he
told you he was accusing you of being a cop or he was claiming
to be a cop? Either way, if someone was
saying they were a police officer and didn't provide
identification, that would be anissue.
If they did say they were a police officer and didn't
provide information, I would probably be mentioning that to
the local authorities and sayingthat because you know who they
(01:17:51):
are, they gave you their license, ownership, insurance.
I would go and report them and say I don't know what this what
they were trying to do. Were they trying to intimidate
me? Like I would never, I would.
I mean, I would be identified because of my social media
presence, but if I was in a collision, I would go and
actually report someone who was claiming or putting themselves
out there and didn't show me a badge and ID.
(01:18:14):
Why would they tell you that? I wouldn't want someone to, to,
to, to think I was trying to motivate or control or not be
held accountable, especially if they hit you.
Yeah. David B Epstein says not legal
advice. Always ask for disclosure.
Oh, yeah, yeah. If you are going to court, you
are entitled to know the case against you and you should have
(01:18:36):
disclosure. Absolutely.
If you go to court and you, you're showing up and didn't
know you need disclosure, you should ask for disclosure and
put it over to another date. 100% David, you're 100% right
Now. What you should also do is go
and download. And I have this available at the
AT traffic cop.ca, which is my, my link tree.
It's the guide to POA or Provincial Offenses Act
(01:19:04):
defendants, POA defendants guidefor POA defendants.
And it tells you everything you need to know when you're going
to court, what the process is and 100% go download that, then
go down and then make requests. You need to know what they have
against you. You don't want to be blindsided.
Greg sent gifts. Holy thighs send gifts.
Thank you so much to everyone who sent gifts.
Your gifts go to the Canadian organization for better Traffic
(01:19:27):
Safety and education and not-for-profit.
The goal of, of, of that organization is to deliver
Traffic Safety education. We're doing some of that right
now. OK, Alan Baldwin says just learn
how to drive and run big wide mud tires all year round.
Yes, learn to drive big wide mudtires.
(01:19:47):
Mud tires great for not sinking in mud off road.
Really not good for most other things because the larger the
contact patch, the less pressureper inch that you're putting on
the road, which means you're more likely to lose traction in
in certain scenarios. You know, if you were to run on
razor blades like like razor blades, you would have more
weight on the road, but you havea smaller contact patch and it's
(01:20:09):
about managing what's better. But but no giant tires.
Not necessarily. Better think about Bigfoot that
can jump in the air and bounce all over the place.
And then the big pig tires aren't the solution for
everything. So Hart Hart says.
Can I park, put my emergency signal on and then call my
phone? Or does the car need to be off?
(01:20:29):
If you are legally parked, not parked in the middle of an
intersection, not parked in a noparking zone, but legally
parked, you can use your phone. That's an area the engine on or
off is irrelevant. It's about whether or not you
are parked not in parked, but parked in a legal parking spot.
Yes. I got a ticket for no U-turn.
I told the cop I was doing AJ turn and I was given a warning.
(01:20:51):
Yeah, not I mean you're you're. I like that they had a sense of
humor. Paul Diego Miller keeps asking
about differences. Differences between careless and
stunt. I already answered that.
You can go to the YouTube page and watch the replay after the
live it's done. Or even now you can watch it.
You can go back and watch it at three times speed if you want.
OK, Untrusting one says wait, did you answer mine?
(01:21:14):
I don't know what yours was. I've gone through so many.
My name is Shawn Chipper. I'm a former police officer.
Talks about Traffic Safety, traffic, a lot of police stuff.
And if you've got questions, I'dtry and answer them.
If I can't answer them, we'll look them up together.
But one way or another, we're going to get you more educated
than you did before. If you if you go and hit up the
(01:21:34):
the website, website askatrafficcop.ca.
Got lots of stuff there. You can also go to the YouTube
page. Yeah, because we do have.
I have hundreds, hundreds of hours.
This is probably episode 87 or 88 this year.
Just saying. OK, Foxy Boots says I had a cop
trying to give me a stunt driving ticket for spinning my
(01:21:56):
tires on Wet Rd. OK, they tried to, so they
didn't. They chose not to because you
argued it. Here's the difference.
Intent. Spinning your tires, having a
temporary loss of traction is not stunt driving.
Engaging and holding that loss of traction through a turn would
be. So once again, if you are
accelerating or turning and accelerating and you lost
(01:22:19):
traction for a second soon as the tires started to spin, you
let off the gas and you regain control, That is not stunt
driving. However, if you were to ride
that spin or loss of traction, crank the wheel and drive
straight while your vehicle's ona 45° angle, that is stunt
driving. So it all depends on the
situation. Glad that you didn't get a
ticket for it, but I I'd love toknow more specifics as to how
(01:22:41):
that went down. Like if you ride the ride the
spinning tire business through an intersection versus 6 inches,
it's different. Holy thigh says hi Sean.
I I read a question from you already or a statement or a
message from you earlier, but hi, hi back.
What is this? How much alcohol is enough?
(01:23:02):
If you're driving any is too much.
OK scrolling scrolling and thankyou.
I'm trusting one who says if your tires are spinning you're
not in control. 100%. This is not a track.
We got one that just came in from YouTube.
Distant P1F says are police obligated to call insurance
(01:23:25):
companies to verify coverage by law?
Obligated. There's nothing that says you
must call. I called because I wanted to
know if I was going to charge you with additional charges.
So if I pulled you over and I didn't believe, if I had a
feeling that you needed to be investigated for insurance, if I
didn't believe that your proof of insurance was valid or there
was something in the conversation, I didn't call for
(01:23:46):
everybody, but I certainly called more often than not.
And you got your, if you had your certificate or your, your,
your insurance card with you. I made notes and then on my off
time, because I have three yearsto lay the charge, I would call
all the insurance companies if Icouldn't reach the roadside.
And very often I just called roadside and wanted to confirm
it's a quick call. It doesn't take much time while
I'm doing my other paperwork. And they would say yes, no, or
(01:24:08):
maybe. So they record all those calls
and any call like very often, especially during the change of
time, not time, but winter seasons, change of seasons.
I would have people who as it got as the springtime, as things
were thawing, people were bringing all their sports cars
out. Well, they only had fire and
theft on them, but they were driving them.
They were all driving without insurance.
Many, many, many people were charged by by me for that.
(01:24:31):
You cannot operate a motor vehicle on the road without
insurance. Hako says.
If I loan my car to a friend andhe she gets a photo radar
ticket, who is responsible to pay the fine?
Does it affect my driver's license and it's the owner of
the car? The answer is, well, in Ontario
this is a moot point because they've cancelled the program,
at least for the radar side of it.
(01:24:52):
But for the cameras, it's still in effect.
The the deal is that the registered owner, it's an
owner's owners responsibility ticket.
I had to think about that for a second.
So the registered owner of the vehicle gets the ticket, but
it's not registered against the driver's license.
That's there's no demerit points.
It is only against the registered owner against the
plate. So if you don't pay the fine,
you can't renew your license. But that's the the end of it.
(01:25:14):
It's a cash only concept. The up until recently, or maybe
it hasn't been changed officially yet, but speed
cameras, red light cameras and school bus cameras are on the
books as tickets. That can be owner responsibility
issue. Yeah.
So doesn't the no consequence other than cash out of your
pocket in the hopes that it'll change your future behavior.
(01:25:36):
It's a girl goal crusher. What's going on?
Ipsec International Practical Shooting confederation.
I miss shooting Ipsec. It was a lot of fun.
I got to get. I think I have to get my black
badge again. All right, sliding down.
Oh, so Foxy boots were talking about the stunt driving charge
(01:26:01):
that they didn't get. So they said, they said BSI am
in control. Spinning them got me out of a
situation. The road was 45° up.
So you rode straight up a hill, a 45° angle because you had no
traction. Did you have bad tires?
Why? Why would you need to spin your
tires up a hill? Like either you have the wrong
(01:26:23):
tires for the conditions or there's something else like the
the the unless every car was doing the same thing to get up
the same hill. Doesn't make a lot of sense to
me. But hey, what do I know?
What happens when several Canadian cops don't tell me why
they arrested me and ignore me? Well, they they would tell you
(01:26:43):
why they arrested you. You may not be happy with the
answer, but I I don't believe that anyone would take physical
control, place you under arrest and never state why.
I don't, I don't believe it. I don't buy it.
They're all being recorded on camera.
They're all going to be giving themselves a major issue in
court if they didn't disclose it, Marston says.
(01:27:05):
Hi Geo, all seasoned enclosed mobility scooter allowed on
sidewalk, no insurance, no license.
Enclosed mobility scooters are motor vehicles.
I I don't I need to see the specifics of the unit.
But if it isn't one that you candrive inside Walmart to get your
groceries, that's not a mobilityscooter.
That's called bull crap from a dealer who wants to sell you and
make money on you. OK, OK, I'm just reading up here
(01:27:35):
some some discussion back and forth.
Boom boom boom. Interesting.
How do you feel about photo? We talked about that already.
Oh wait, how do you feel about the photo?
Radar machines are monitored by a meteor, the meteorology
company that not the police. I I would say it depends on the
(01:27:57):
jurisdiction. In, in Orlando, FL, the Orange
County police or Sheriff's Office monitors the cameras
directly. In Toronto, a third party
company that is employing a whole lot of former police
officers. I know people who work there.
They are the ones monitoring thered light cameras and, and, and
speed enforcement stuff. Actually, sorry, they're the red
light cameras. The speed enforcement ones are
(01:28:18):
are monitored by the city of Toronto.
So I don't know what meteorologycompany you're referring to
because I've spoken to the people who were in charge of the
program. OK, we got wicked who I have to
follow. I wonder what happened if they
all went to traffic ticket camera.
What? Oh, I wonder what happened if
they all went to traffic ticket camera systems.
(01:28:40):
You're saying like all enforcement, I think every Rd.
should have them. Like I I would love to see every
single road and stop sign and red light everything managed by
camera. Greg says.
Sean, thank you for your service.
Also, did you dress up for Halloween?
I did not dress up. I chilled out on the couch and
then answered the door with my kids.
I haven't dressed up in a many, many moons.
I used to dress up as a cop as aas a cop, Boom, boom, boom.
(01:29:08):
Oh, untrusting. One says offences where persons
are in the trunk or operations of a motor vehicle causing
wheels to spin. Yeah.
If you have someone in the trunk, it's also stunt driving
or one or more tires losing contact with the roadway.
Yes, all, all 100% boom, boom. No, So Foxy boots is arguing
with our trusting ones tire. So losing contact is when you
(01:29:30):
raise one off the road. So wheelies with side or
whatever that's that's one then losing traction, intentionally
losing traction. And I think intention is the
important thing if you're tryingto do a burnout or once you
become aware that your tires arespinning, you don't correct and
regain control. That is the other issue.
But yeah, moving on, I said I was going to be done at one an
(01:29:54):
hour and 30 minutes now an hour and 32 minutes.
But hey, we're still scrolling. Using an on ramp to pass in
traffic illegal or just douchey?I'm going to say just douchey.
It's it if you don't, if you're going off road like you're going
across the bull nose that's driving off roadway, that's a
ticket. But the but really you're you're
doing very little but pissing people off.
(01:30:14):
You are. You are absolutely pissing
people off, but you're doing very little to get there, You
know, faster. You know it's a thing.
Let's see here. Every friend I buried in the
last few years the car was at fault.
(01:30:35):
Interesting foxy boots comment. Not sure where we're going with
that. What do we got here?
JP 02. JP worked with one for a year.
Fully unmarked. Great traffic field.
Oh, this is the F-150? Yeah, 100%.
I love the I, I, I we had stuff for our or we have them for
commercial motor vehicle inspectors.
I wish we had one for the, the, the, the traffic units.
(01:31:00):
Social media officer. That would be nice.
OK. Wow, foxy boots.
OK, I'm skipping that one. How long does it, how long does
an offer have? Oh, an officer?
How long does an officer have tofile a ticket?
(01:31:20):
Generally 7 days. It has to be filed.
We filed, it's electronically filed as instantaneous now.
And if you're talking about and certain charges depending on
what act it's under, like for insurance is 3 years CN.
What about the fact that TPS hasto pay for the tickets they get
even when they're on a call, they have to pay for tickets.
(01:31:43):
What do you mean tickets? So automated enforcement tickets
get cancelled if if a police officer was on a call.
So they don't. I'm not aware of them paying for
anything because I think as far as I know they're all cancelled.
Might have if you were, if you got a speeding ticket, you
weren't on call, didn't have a justified reason you were
cooked, you were getting documented.
(01:32:05):
I don't know if they had to pay for it.
OK, interesting, Taha says. Hey, Sean, I think you missed my
questions. No, I, I did answer that
question earlier, John says what's a Jack rabbit start?
(01:32:26):
I, I did address it, so I'm going to assume you, you heard
it already, but it's where you hit the gas and turn left in
front of vehicles, oncoming vehicles and haven't had a
chance to respond yet. That is Jack rabbit.
OK. I was driving, Oh, Preet says,
Sir, I was driving within a suspended license in
Saskatchewan. The officer didn't give me a
ticket and told me to go to court.
(01:32:46):
I will plead guilty for my offense.
What can I do? Sorry you were driving with a
suspended license in Saskatchewan.
The officer didn't give you a ticket and told you to go to
court. How on earth do you go to court
if you didn't get a ticket? I'm so confused by you.
That doesn't make sense. And wicked says I can tell you
(01:33:08):
the RCMP doesn't have quotas andI worked all over Canada in
traffic sections. Right on.
Do you guys have a part time police over officer program?
Maybe I can join the RCMP and just do part time traffic
enforcement. I miss, I miss getting out there
and, and issuing tickets. I know they have part time, you
know, dignitary units, retired guys come back and and work on
(01:33:28):
details. I used to work with them all the
time in, in in the motor squad. It'll be cool if we can do it
for traffic. I think OBP hires back retired
guys. I would do that.
Just do tickets, ticket, ticket, ticket, ticket, ticket.
OK. Oh, David says, from my
(01:33:49):
understanding, the reason Ford got rid of photo radar as they
were issuing tickets for five over.
I, I'm not aware of that In Toronto, it was about 8 to 10
over and in five over is still speeding.
So I don't really have an issue with them getting a ticket
because five over the, the amount of money for that ticket.
What's the calculator on this 40bucks?
Like? It's, it's, it's not, it's it's
(01:34:09):
not a tremendous amount of money, but it is something
you're actually responsible for. You're not supposed to speed.
It's funny how that works. So 5 over is 2750.
If you were in a school safety zone, it would be $40, which is
what it would be. So 40 bucks for five over.
What's wrong with that username?BG says you don't look six or
five. How could you possibly
(01:34:30):
determine? I'm sitting down and you're
seeing from, from from here to here.
I don't look. I'm one of the biggest things
that happens or the other. One thing that happens when I,
when I show up in person is people have no idea who I am,
which is great. And I start speaking and they
look at me and they go, Oh my God, and they recognize me, but
they don't realize like when it when I'm towering over them,
they they're like, you don't look that big on screen.
OK, I guess I'm I don't look 6 foot 5 anyway when I'm sitting
(01:34:55):
down in front of a camera. All right, what is this?
Hilk City says hi Sean. I wanted to know for SO but then
I don't see whatever else they asked.
When the opposing side has the advanced left, can you make a?
(01:35:16):
When the opposing side has an advanced left, can you make a
right turn If there's two lanes?Yes, you they have the ability
to make their turn. But you can make the right turn
on a red if you've come to a complete stop.
If it's not prohibited by sign or local law, then you could if
it's safe. OK.
(01:35:41):
Oh, Hoax city says. I wanted to know if police can
overturn tickets for traffic offenses in Ontario.
If police can overturn them, howdo you mean?
Like if if you get a ticket by the police officer and you want
to have it withdrawn, can the police officer do it?
Or do you mean when police get tickets?
I'm not, I'm not picking up whatyou mean.
And Tracy asked the same question for clarification and
(01:36:04):
then they confirmed by saying yes, I'm gonna cancel them.
They, they can withdraw them if they, if there was reason to,
once they've been issued, if, ifthey found like I had a
situation where I issued a car, it was a Subaru.
That's the only thing I remember.
I issued them a ticket for something and then a further
investigation because I continued looking at it after I
issued it. I was wrong.
I filed a piece of paper to the courts.
(01:36:25):
I had to get authorization from my Sergeant and possibly my
staff Sergeant. And I then went and went to the,
the guy's house and said I issued this.
I was wrong. I'm withdrawing it.
I did that, Bambino says. If there's a written mistake on
the ticket, is it automatically dismissed or just a myth?
Nothing is automatic. If there's a, if there's a major
(01:36:46):
issue with it, a major issue, then then you can make an
application to have it dismissedor, or if they recognize that
they might have it withdrawn, automatic.
I don't think there's anything automatic.
Someone has to be made aware of it, but it may result in it
being ticket being withdrawn. Are crisis negotiators police or
a separate profession? They're they're it's a position
(01:37:09):
under the tactical team, under the emergency task force.
They have negotiators. OK.
Oh, Chevoy says, can you touch on impaired driving wines worse
to refuse the breath test. Well, simply refusing makes life
a lot easier. We get rid of toxicology
experts. We get, we get rid of all the
(01:37:29):
games that are played in court. And all we do is press video
play where you say, no, I won't give you a sample as required by
law. And it's case closed.
It's it's pretty awesome. What are they doing?
What is that? Oh, my account statement is
ready. I'm like, I got a message and it
(01:37:49):
says bank. And I'm like, what?
That's not good as a bank. Want let's go here.
Have you ever charged a police officer with anything?
I've arrested a child of a police officer.
I, I didn't, I didn't actually. I haven't been involved with the
(01:38:09):
arrest of two children. Well, 1 was an apprehension
anyway. I, I've, I've never charged or
arrested a police officer. I never had cause to, but if I
had found one that needed to be arrested, then it would have
happened because no one's above the law.
What's the most tint you can have for the rear windshield?
You can paint it black. You can make it as long as you
(01:38:29):
have windows. Sorry, mirrors to the rear You
you have a clearview to the rearby way of mirror the the the one
that's in the in the rear view. Like think about a box a truck.
They aren't there is no rear window.
You can you can paint it solid. Korn says my wife doesn't love
me anymore. What's the best traffic
infringement? Should I commit the what?
(01:38:52):
I don't know how to get it. I'm sorry your wife doesn't like
you, but you just concentrate onbeing a better person.
Berg Mutka says we all have great maps.
We all have Google Maps maps app, one person report cop and I
know what we all have Google. Oh, you're saying when you're in
you're you're reporting police officers locations through
(01:39:15):
social media networking like Waze.
Yeah, we get it. I I used to love it when I would
get alerted by my own phone thatI was there.
I, I, I would just report that Iwasn't there.
What do we got here scrolling back?
Thing of a Bob or Drake? What's going on Drake?
(01:39:39):
Yes, Drake Pinder says Ontario law states slower traffic keep
right. This is true.
What's the con? What are we talking about here?
Scrolling back, Drake Pinter says stunt driving is such a
joke. I got arrested last year, and
the person that caught me was your buddy, Constable Brian.
(01:40:01):
OK, I don't get it. You got arrested and you're
proud of it. I'm not.
I'm not picking up what you're putting down.
So you got arrested and then what's the what's the point?
You're a terrible driver. Brandon says no law regarding
(01:40:24):
regarding ball tires. However, if you get there is a
law, it's it's called you're required to have proper tires.
Ball tires are not proper tires. You are incorrect.
Drake Pinger says. And if your ball tires cause the
collision, you can be charged with Dr. unsafe motor vehicle.
You're you're you can drive unsafe motor vehicle.
(01:40:45):
In addition you can get charged for that, but your tires are
improper. There is a law for improper
tires. You are incorrect.
And, and yes, it's an unsafe vehicle with ball tires.
I, I like that Drake Pinder is, is arguing with a police
officer. Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty sure that
they're a police officer at veryleast.
(01:41:07):
Yeah, Drake says I'm in BC and stop my digression.
Oh, that's the the the officer. Gotcha.
And my, my, stop my discretion. Yes.
Yes, it is. Yeah.
Anyway, I, I love these dialogues when people argue with
others not knowing who they are and what their qualifications
(01:41:28):
are. Let's see here.
Why are the tint laws still in place when states that don't
have the law don't have an increase in harm to office?
It's not about harm. It's not.
I won't say it's not. I don't, I don't know where
you're getting your stats. So they're making an allegation
that tint laws are to protect police officers and vehicle
stops. It's way more than that.
It is about being able to see outside of your vehicle, about
(01:41:51):
having nonverbal communication, which means eye contact between
the driver, pedestrian, driver and driver, etcetera.
It's unsafe. It's absolutely unsafe.
It's not just about police officers.
You cannot identify people with or without.
What are you talking about? Copy 444.
You cannot identify visually someone you cannot see.
(01:42:12):
So what are you talking about? Where does it go?
Toronto uses Redflex traffic systems for photo radar.
I have beaten the one I got that's from David Epstein they
use so maybe for facilitating the equipment, but the actual
oversight is human beings who verify the information.
At least that's my understanding.
(01:42:33):
And if I'm wrong, then let's check out what Redflex Traffic
Systems the company does. OK, But I know somebody works
for that, whatever entity that reviews it for the city, but I
thought it was the city. So like, have you been wrong?
Now I want to call him, find outthe details.
I have his number. We'll find out.
(01:42:54):
C Spartan says can you request ablood drawn instead of a
breathalyzer without being arrested?
No, you don't get to choose. The only time blood draw is
going to happen is if you're incapacitated and cannot provide
a incapacitated or, or for othermeans like someone who had their
face smashed in a collision or is is being sedated or is going
into surgery. They'll they'll they'll draw
(01:43:16):
blood. But you don't just say take my
blood instead of providing breath.
No, why do so many people break the law and blame the person who
tickets them? That's from from my brother,
from another mother. Because they don't like taking
responsibility for their actions.
And it's pretty pathetic, isn't it?
It's always the cop who gives the ticket that makes them that,
that that's that's at fault for their poor choices behind the
(01:43:37):
wheel. And and Tracy says because
they've never been told no and refused to take ownership.
Absolutely, Randy Matthews says you're retired.
No wonder I don't see you on my feet anymore.
Will you follow me here? Because I've been doing this for
over a year on this channel since leaving the Toronto
police. And Tracy says Randy, he's on
(01:43:57):
Tuesday mornings and Wednesday nights.
Yes, yes, yes, absolutely. What is this?
JD said If I hit someone while passing, sorry.
If I hit someone while passing me from behind while making a
left turn, who's at fault? So someone is passing you and
you're making a left turn. You're at fault.
That sounds crazy. I know.
But you're making a left. It's your responsibility to
ensure that turn can be completed in safety.
(01:44:19):
And if they're overtaking you, they're overtaking you, and
you're still responsible for changing lanes and causing the
collision or making the turn. OK, VPD, we got to have you.
We got to have you join the livestream.
Are you you want to do that? You should do that.
We need we need coppers on the channel.
OK. I Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
(01:44:39):
Here's Robin. A few days ago, a cop pulled me
over and used racist comments. Can I do something?
Make a complaint? Absolutely.
If someone was racist against, racist against you or used
racism and unprofessional behavior, make a complaint.
Absolutely. It's on camera.
It's on. Hopefully it's recorded.
Yeah. Oh, Murray.
(01:45:01):
Murray says that Ford cancelled speed cameras because the
government employees racked up over $3000 in tickets. $3000 is
not not a reason to cancel an entire program, although I I buy
that it was an influencing factor or contributing factor.
What is this one going on? Hang on.
So let me scroll back because I see it also, but I don't see the
(01:45:21):
original. Oh hey, I missed a bunch of
stuff here. What do I think this is from
breach blocked? What do you think about bringing
in traffic schools and an alternate to the bear points for
certain offenses? I think, well, there is a
traffic school to some degree, but I think that is a good
thing. If you are being forced to
attend education. I'll teach that course happily,
(01:45:42):
Yes. In fact, I think I should start
a driving school just to talk topeople who have been convicted
of certain things. Go see Sean, That would be
punishment enough, right? Stephen Bell says, I don't think
that if you own a home and someone comes into your home
with forest that they're not andthey're not that they, what is
this? Maybe this one more time.
I don't think that if you own a home and someone comes into your
(01:46:03):
home with force and they are notcops, you can get arrested for
defending your home. I think that's stupid.
Yes. If someone breaks into my home
and I use force, which you're absolutely allowed to do to
defend yourself for the life of another, you can use force.
You can even use lethal force ifneed be, but it is risky and you
may be arrested because they want to figure out what
(01:46:24):
happened. And sometimes you use excessive
force, which you are of course criminally responsible for.
What is this? We talked about this one
already, but I missed the other. What is this?
What if a speed camera catches acar doing stunt driving speed?
Is it just a fine or do you track the license plate location
and arrest the entire family, including five year old Billy?
(01:46:46):
No more receipt for Billy. They they, it is a different
ticket that's issued. It's actually a Part 3, but it's
happened and somebody won against it or had it dismissed
for another reason. OK, let's go to Robin.
And they said he put my vehicle on inspection and said your
(01:47:08):
tires are not safe. When I said what's wrong, he
said it is not safe and an inspection mechanic found
nothing. OK, I don't know why that
comment got through, but none ofthe others did.
So I don't know what to tell youbecause I don't know what else
you said. So we'll leave it at that.
(01:47:28):
Listen, it has been a slice, butit's been an hour and 49 minutes
and I, I need to take a break and do some other stuff.
Oh, do me a favor, C 8911 GTS, send me a message.
I'll reach out and I'll tell youhow we can do it.
No worries, JD. About the double question Timbit
(01:47:49):
says when you get stop and you don't have ownership and
insurance I was bring my classicback from getting so timid wants
to know about what happens when you get stopped and you don't
have your documents It what whatwhat happens is you get a
ticket. If you can't surrender your
license ownership and insurance upon demand of a police officer,
you're going to get a ticket. OK R12 gaming says hey Sean
(01:48:15):
would you like to what is this? Hey, Sean, would you like to see
us adopt a system of annual car inspections for roadworthiness?
Yes, yes, I think that would be actually excellent.
There's a lot of vehicles that should not, should not need.
You should not need to wait tillyou get.
That's terrible. I read something else got thrown
(01:48:35):
off. But yeah, I would love to see
that. There's a lot of vehicles that
shouldn't be on the road. RXSSS can can cops search any
vehicle? There's there's rules to to
search. You can't just walk up and say I
want to see inside this. They can ask to search any
vehicle And if you say yes, thenthen you, they can search it
because you gave them permission.
But then there's search incidentinto arrest and there's search
for inventory search in an impaired driving situation when
(01:48:58):
someone's vehicle is going to beimpounded.
So there's different reasons fordifferent stuff.
OK. And I'm glad that we're already
friends on here. I will message you that that's
the C89. OK, cool.
I am Oh, Noah says. Favorite challenge coin from my
career. Favorite challenge coin for my
career. I have so many.
(01:49:19):
I have a rack of them behind. I used to design and make them
for other police services. I I like the one for do I have
it here? I, I, I've, I've shown some on
screen before, but I like the motor Squad level three coin
that I earned, even though I designed it.
Anyway, I'm glad of here it is, the button pressed.
I can't go back now. Can't talk about other stuff.
(01:49:40):
Yeah, it's been a good day. I had a lot of fun.
I'll be back tomorrow night, 9:00 PM.
You can join me again if you gottime.
We'll do it again. Maybe we'll have some some fine
folks from police services who want to join us.
If you're a copper and you're wanting to watch the show, if
you know a copper who might be great on the show, send them a
message and tell them to call meas Tracy says bye.
(01:50:02):
Oh no. Do I have to stop this again?
I have jokes that I didn't read.Hang on.
Go to my pin jokes. Dad joke.
What did the grape say when the elephant stepped on it?
It gave a little wine. Where's my hi hat?
Here's my hi hat. I'll try it again.
What did the grape say when the elephant stepped on it?
(01:50:24):
It gave a little wine that joke.Have you ever heard about the
rising tensions between yogurt and penicillin?
One side is probiotic, the otherside is antibiotic.
They're calling it a culture warand a quote.
Traffic signals in New York are just rough guidelines.
(01:50:45):
David Letterman, I don't like the statement, but it is his
quote, so I I can't say anythingabout it.
All right, really out of here this time.
For now, drive safe, drive sober, don't ark illegally and
smile, because if you're not smiling, you're wasting an
oortunity.
