In this episode I talk to Yaroslav Stanchak. Yaroslav is a mechanical engineer with over 40 years of experience. In the episode we talk about how Yaroslav and his family immigrated to the U.S. after World War 2, how he became interested in science fiction and mechanics as a kid, attending Northeastern University for his mechanical engineering degree, working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Rhode Island, then moving onto a storied career in snow making where he invented the legendary K-3000 snow gun. Unfortunately halfway through the episode the audio cut, but this is still an amazing conversation worth checking out. I hope you enjoy!ARTICLES:Displaced Persons Camps in Post-World War II Germany from Museums Victoria: https://collections.museumsvictoria.com.au/articles/13619Mark 48 Wire Guided Torpedo from the Smithsonian: https://americanhistory.si.edu/subs/weapons/armament/torpedoes/index.html#Wet Bulb Temperature from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wet-bulb_temperatureFinding the Right Words (Snow Quality Article) by Yaroslav Stanchak: https://www.saminfo.com/images/magimages/Archive_PDFs/FindingTheRightWords.pdfTribute: K-3000 Snowgun from 4241′ Magazine: https://www.davidyoungphoto.com/portfolios/tribute-k3000-snowgun/ Jon Kuehn VIDEOS:Gunrunners from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXW_lA1qYUg&ab_channel=JacksonHoleMountainResortCONNECT: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian-dolinay-frm-96a289106/ GitHub: https://github.com/ad17171717 X: https://twitter.com/DolinayG Odysee: https://odysee.com/@adriandolinay:0 Medium: https://medium.com/@adriandolinayPODCAST: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-aspiring-stem-geek/id1765996824 Audible: https://www.audible.com/podcast/The-Aspiring-STEM-Geek/B0DC73S9SN?source_code=ASSGB149080119000H&share_location=pdp iHeart Radio: https://iheart.com/podcast/202676097/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/60dPNJbDPaPw7ru8g5btxV?si=26e034e416f446d8|-Video Chapters-|0:00 – Intro

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
