Hey there, revolutionaryauthors, welcome back to the

(01:35):
Author Revolution Podcast.
And it's not just any episode,I might add.
This is a very special one.
Can you believe it's been fiveyears since we launched this
podcast?
That's right.
Today actually marks thefive-year anniversary of the
very first episode of the AuthorRevolution podcast, and I
couldn't be more excited toreflect on how far we've come

(01:56):
together.
In fact, today's episode is alittle walk down memory lane.
We're going back to where itall began, to episode one, where
I shared what I thought was thesecret to success as an indie
author.
Spoiler alert I talked a lotabout publishing more than one
book and doing it imperfectly, and that advice still holds true

(02:17):
.
But wow, I have learned so muchmore since then.
So stick around as we dive intowhat's changed, what stayed the
same and, most importantly, what's coming next for you.
Stick around as we dive intowhat's changed, what stayed the
same and, most importantly, what's coming next for you and
me as we continue on this authorjourney together.
So let's rewind to October 29th2019.
It was the very first episode ofthe Author Revolution podcast

(02:38):
and I was so eager to shareeverything I knew about
publishing.
Back then, I talked about theneed to publish multiple books
to build momentum as an indieauthor, and I wasn't afraid to
tell you to do it imperfectly.
Why?
Because I knew if you waitedfor the perfect moment or the
perfect manuscript, you'd neverpublish.
And for so many authors, that'sstill the thing holding them

(03:00):
back.
Perfectionism, right.
If we don't know what we don'tknow and we continue to hold on
to our work, we don't eventuallyexpand our knowledge, expand
our capacity to put things outinto the world.
And here's the thing the worldof indie publishing has evolved,
and so have we.
The core message just start, just publish still rings true.

(03:22):
But now, five years later, I'vecome to realize that there's so
much more to this equation.
In that first episode I alsotalked about prepping, writing,
editing, publishing andmarketing your book.
It was my introduction into theindie world.
For you guys, it was a crashcourse in getting your books out
there.
And while those steps are stillfoundational they're absolutely

(03:44):
what I teach inside of RapidRelease Roadmap, for instance I
learned that they're just onepart of the bigger picture.
Now, what I didn't know backthen or maybe I hadn't fully
embraced yet was just howpersonal and unique the creative
process is for all of us.
Sure, those steps of publishinga book might be the same for
everyone, but the way that weget there, that's wildly

(04:05):
different from author to author.
I've had this incredible honorof working with hundreds of
authors over the past five years, and here's what I've learned
there is no one-size-fits-allapproach to creativity, and
anyone telling you that there isis lying.
Some of us thrive on tightdeadlines, while others need to
let their stories simmer.

(04:26):
I know I am definitely one ofthose.
Even though I love my deadlines, I do I like to let my story,
my creativity stuff, simmer.
While some authors can crankout books at lightning speed I
know a few of them off the topof my head Others need to be
slower, more intentional withthe process, to get their best
work done and all of it is okay.
So back in 2019, I might haveput a little too much emphasis

(04:50):
on speed, on getting that bookout as quickly as you can, and
while rapid releasing can stillwork for some, I've come to
realize that it's just asimportant, if not more so, to
honor your own creative processand to make sure that you are
not dysregulating your nervoussystem, because the more we put
ourselves into this, I'm notdoing enough, I'm not working

(05:12):
hard enough, I'm not gettingthere fast enough.
We're dysregulating our nervoussystem, right, because our mind
is in direct disagreement withthe things that we're doing and
everything gets jumbled up andit's no good.
However, if there's one thingthat's been a consistent theme
since that very first episode,it's mindset.
I talked about it then and Istill talk about it now,

(05:35):
probably even more so now thatwe're talking about
manifestation and we're gettinginto the subconscious mind.
We're talking about quantumphysics.
I mean, there's so much, somuch mindset.
It's crazy.
But it's funny to look back andrealize that I was already
planting those mindset seeds inepisode one, even though I
didn't fully grasp how crucialit would be to my journey and to

(05:56):
yours.
I mean, I knew to an extent,but I didn't.
I didn't even have the piecesyet in place for manifestation,
which is wild, because that'sbecome such an important part of
who I am and how I be right.
So over these five years, mindset has come up again and
again and, like I just said, indifferent ways, whether it's
dealing with imposter syndrome, pushing through self-doubt,

(06:19):
staying motivated when thewriting gets tough, or digging
into your mindset work whythings aren't manifesting the
way that you want, or changingyour mindset when it comes to
what you get to do.
Get to have Mindset just istruly the foundation of
everything that we do as authors.
It's what keeps us goingthrough the rejections, the
rough drafts, the long nights, the early mornings, and it's

(06:42):
what helps us believe that whatwe're doing matters.
And I think that part whatwe're doing matters is what's so
important here.
Our work, our creativity, it'snot just a piece of us.
We want to believe it impactsothers.
You know, in looking back, oneof the most exciting things for
me is how the Author Revolutionpodcast has grown and evolved,

(07:06):
and in those early days I wasn'tquite sure who my audience
would be.
I was speaking to all authorsand giving advice to anyone who
wanted to learn about indiepublishing, and while that was a
great place to start, over theyears I've gotten so much
clearer about who I'm reallyhere to help.
And so today I'm speaking toyou right, the authors who have
grown with me, who have stuckwith this journey, who are ready

(07:28):
to expand even further.
You're not just dipping yourtoes into the author world.
You're committed and you'vewritten books, maybe you've even
published a few, but now you'reready to take things to that
next level, wanting to refineyour process, improve your
marketing and, most importantly, build a sustainable author
career.
Now, sustainability was a bigdeal when I was trying to craft

(07:51):
rapid release roadmap.
There was a time where I wastrying to teach authors how do
you just rapid release?
And it occurred to me in thatprocess that I was doing a
disservice If I was just goingto teach authors how to rapid
release period.
I needed to teach them how todo it sustainably, and that's
where rapid release roadmapreally did come from.
So, as we move forward, I wantto focus on that building a

(08:16):
sustainable author career, building a place where we get to
feel like we're in alignmentwith who we are and what we're
trying to create.
We're not just talking abouthow to publish a book.
We're talking about how tocreate a career that lasts, and
not just last for the sake ofmoney last for our readers.
I'm talking about last for us.

(08:37):
That puts us in a place ofpower, puts us in a place of
receptivity, puts us in a placeof really enjoying what we're
doing, like how to balancecreativity with strategy, how to
avoid burnout, how to trulyenjoy everything that we do as
an author so that we canmanifest it faster, so that we
can bring in this juicy goodstuff quicker.

(09:01):
So what's next for this AuthorRevolution podcast?
Well, it's kind of funnybecause there was a time not too
long ago where I was reallythinking maybe this should be
the end of it, like maybe I'vecome as far as I need to when it
comes to teaching, when itcomes to doing this thing,
because, to be perfectly honest, the Author Revolution podcast
takes an awful lot of time.

(09:22):
It takes some brain space andbandwidth, and I was trying to
decide is it worth the effort ofit versus what I want to be
doing creatively?
And for right now, I've decidedthat yes, it is that.
Yes, I want to continue.
I'm going to keep going and seehow it works, and I think it's
pretty fitting that we'recelebrating this five-year

(09:43):
milestone as I'm launching therevolutionaryary Authors
Membership, because thismembership, it's all about
taking the next step right, offering you the tools, the
strategies and the communitythat you need to succeed
long-term.
And this is not just aboutcranking out books as fast as
possible.
It's about building that careerthat's aligned with your

(10:03):
creative flow, your goals andyour life.
So, going forward.
The episodes of this podcastare going to dive deeper into
that journey, and it's going todig deeper not only into the
strategy side, but into themindset and the manifestation
side, and when I get closer tolaunching our new membership on

(10:23):
how to do social selling, that'll also be a bigger
component of it, because I thinkthis is all coming to be this
big, beautiful strategy of howwe as authors, as creatives, can
find our unique writing rhythmand build a business that
supports our lives, not theother way around, right?
So I want to thank you yes, Iwant to thank you for being a

(10:47):
part of this journey, whetheryou've been here since the very
beginning or you're just tuningin now.
I am so freaking grateful foryour support and for the
incredible community that we'vebeen building over these five
years.
I have so many wonderful peoplewho are in my memberships, who
are in my courses, who join ourcoaching calls, who join in on

(11:10):
the masterclasses.
I could not be moreappreciative and grateful and so
wowed by these people who arein it with me, who are trying to
figure out what their journeylooks like, what creativity
looks like for them, whatpublishing gets to look like for
them.
So you guys.
You are the reason I'm stilldoing this.

(11:31):
You're the reason I'm stillhere, so thank you All right.
So as we wrap up this veryspecial episode, I want to leave
you with this the authorrevolution isn't just about
publishing more books, right?
Or hitting bestseller lists orbecoming award-winning authors.
All of that's great, right.
It's a fabulous byproduct, butthis is about you stepping into

(11:55):
your power as a creative.
It's about finding your voice, sharing your stories with the
world and building a life aroundthe passion that you have for
your writing.
Five years ago, I started thispodcast with a vision, and that
vision has evolved intosomething even greater than I
could ever have imagined, andnow I can't wait to see where
