Did you know 1 in 5 dogs as young as 1 year old are estimated to have osteoarthritis? In this episode I chat with integrative veterinarian  Dr. Heather Oxford about how to identify whether your pup is struggling with mobility issues, and discuss some integrative approaches to pain management that can improve their quality of life.
Dr. Heather Oxford received her Master's of Public Health in Epidemiology from Emory University in 2000 and worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Foodborne & Diarrheal Diseases Branch, and also in the Viral and Rickettsial Diseases Branch. She attended the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2005.  Upon completion of a small animal veterinary internship at California Animal Hospital in 2006, she practiced conventional small animal medicine in Los Angeles for 2 years before becoming certified in acupuncture at the Chi Institute, and rehabilitation medicine at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2008.  Dr. Oxford has been integrating Western and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine with Animal Rehabilitation to optimize pets' quality of life for over 13 years.
