Following the defeat of the Bohrok-Kal, the story shifts focus to two Matoran and their quest to find the Seventh Toa. In a change of medium, LEGO decided to tell this tale in the first-ever Bionicle movie -- Bionicle: Mask of Light. The journey begins when Ta-Matoran, Takua and Jaller, accidentally discover a mysterious, golden mask in a cave. This mask is the legendary Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light. The Bohrok-Kal were released onto Mata Nui with one mission—free the Bahrag queens. They took immediate action, nearly neutralizing the newly established Toa Nuva, by stealing their Nuva Symbols. As their quest continued largely unimpeded, they could no longer contain their inner pride and sadism. At every encounter, the Kal absolutely humiliated the Toa, taking immense pleasure in the pain they inflicted. However, it wasn't long b...

Before the Toa ever arrived on Mata Nui, the Matoran were led by six leaders called the Turaga. They were fairly mysterious beings, and they seemed to have a lot of knowledge and experience. Once the Toa had landed on the island and started their various quests, they, like the Matoran before them, looked to their respective Turaga for guidance and wisdom. However, they often received little of use from these elders, sometimes acqui...

Their destiny was not complete yet; they emerged as bigger, stronger, more powerful versions of their past selves. They were now the Toa Nuva. However, they could catch no breaks. Very shortly after their emergence, their elemental powers were mysteriously stripped from them. How could this happ...

While the Toa were lost at sea for 1,000 years, the Matoran villagers of Mata Nui built their society and defended their new home. The continued survival of the Matoran is crucial to the Bionicle universe, and this postulate is tested rigorously as Makuta threatens to enslave the Matoran time and again. In this episode, we learn about the Matoran race in general and get introduced to specific Matoran who were important during the s...

The Toa Mata have finally arrived on Mata Nui, but Makuta is not holding back, waiting for them to gather themselves. After a failed attempt to subdue the villagers of the island with infected rahi, Makuta unleashes the Bohrok. These creatures were created with one purpose—to cleanse Mata Nui completely.

After covering the lore, we'll discuss the physical Bohrok sets and how LEGO really struck gold with the creative design of these...
