Speaker 1 (00:00):
gratitude is not for what you have, but what you are.
Gratitude is one of those bigplatitudes that are spoken about
these days and everyone talksabout being grateful, having
gratitude.
You know you should be gratefulfor what you have.
You could be a lot worse.
But is that true gratitude oris that, somewhat, in the

(00:22):
indirect way, you're having pitythat you're not in somebody
else's shoes?
This is one way of looking atit.
But what if gratitude isactually more for what you are,
when you actually realize yourtrue nature, your true essence
of who you are?
Now, if you look at it from aVedantic point of view, as we've

(00:47):
always done on this podcast, the formless self is already
whole, complete.
It lacks nothing.
What more could you give thatit does not already have?
Can worldly desires evensatisfy the Atman?
Does the Atman get influencedby worldly desires?

(01:07):
Only?
The mind gets affected bydesires not being attained.
But if you realize that my trueself is this formless one, I do
not have a separate identity toGod.
Me and God are one and the same.
What does God need that hedoesn't already have?
Do not have a separate identityto God.

(01:27):
Me and God are one and the same.
What does God need that hedoesn't already have.
It's already complete, it'sperfect.
It lacks nothing.
There's nothing that cancomplete it.
There's no void.
Gratitude flows not from gainingmore, but recognizing
everything needed is alreadypresent.
But recognizing everythingneeded is already present,

(01:48):
there's no need for me even todesire something more, because
life will provide what lifewants to provide.
It's none of my karma.
And you see, when you live as anon-doer, the akarta, gratitude
is very easy.
But when we become the akarta, then that also means we become
the enjoyer of the fruits of theactions we do.
And therefore, guess what?

(02:08):
Even the gratitude is nowdependent.
To make the gratitude free andfull of freedom, one has to
understand what's their truenature, which is already full.
I've grown up listening to thisthat you know.
My Guru has always said thatevery breath is grace.

(02:31):
There's no such thing thatisn't grace.
Every moment is a gift fromthis formless one, this Nirankar
.
And when you live with thatunderstanding, you're not
actually grateful to things perse in your life, you're actually
just grateful for life itself.

(02:51):
You see the sacredness of life, your own life and how you live.
That life has to be one of asacred duty.
Therefore, to show truegratitude is to live a sacred
life, is to live a life that isbased on saintly qualities, and
that means one is kind, one isconsiderate, humble,
sweet-natured, soft-spoken, niceto others, kind, caring,

(03:15):
compassionate, full of empathy.
Those are signs of someone fullof gratitude.
Someone full of gratitude.
You can be grateful for thethings that you get in life, but
truly gratitude is that whereyou are just happy with what is.
You don't need more.
That creates gratitude.

(03:38):
To practice gratitude, begrateful for being able to those
of us that have had access tothis wisdom, regardless of what
path you follow.
If you've come across formlessawareness, then why didn't you
start each day with gratitudefor awareness?
I know that I am awake thismorning.
You can start each day by beingaware of the breath and

(04:01):
thanking that.
You are even aware of thebreath, that you're conscious.
You don't have to thankexistence just for possessions,
achievements or people in yourlife, but just the fact that
you're.
You know the very being withinthat you're able to even
perceive these possessions,achievements and people.
Without this beingness, therewouldn't be this recognition of

(04:21):
possessions, achievements andpeople.
Without this beingness, therewouldn't be this recognition of
possessions, achievements orpeople, and that's something you
can do any time of the day Formy own life.
I'm grateful for my Guru.
I'm grateful for the Brahmgyanathat my Guru gave me and that
has allowed me to see life in amuch more beautiful way and live

(04:43):
a life that, hopefully, otherscan say it was a beautiful way
of living.
The atmosphere in my home hasto be full of nurture, care,
love and compassion, understanding each other instead
of scolding and putting eachother down.
Those things are not to be doneeach other down.

(05:04):
Those things are not to be donenot by somebody who is living a
life of gratitude or someonewho is just full of gratitude
themselves, like I've mentioned.
You know we turn.
We see that gratitude turnsordinary life into sacred life.
The fact that every moment is away of spiritual awakening,
every moment is a recognition ofthis formless awareness.
We can all see the sacrednessof that, and that is true

(05:30):
gratitude.
Gratitude is not simply sayingthank you.
It's about your whole beingbeing thankful, without words,
in silence.
Don't see gratitude asblessings to count.
Recognize that you yourself arethe blessing.

(05:51):
Take care, namaste.
