Speaker 1 (00:00):
God is all-pervading.
There's not a single spacewhere God is not.
God neither has any parts.
Even if we say that we are apart of God or we are many parts
of that same one God and it isall-pervading, then really there
(00:23):
is nothing but God, even inthat explanation, because even
if you are a part of God, thenliterally that is still God.
There is no other way oflooking at it.
So when we say God is allpervading, we are literally
saying he is everywhere.
So if he is everywhere or it iseverywhere, then even that
(00:47):
which has parts or is partless,it's that same one that is being
experienced, or more.
So we are experiencing God orwe are God experiencing itself
through what appears to be manyparts or even partless.
(01:07):
Now I want to welcome you tothe Bearded Mystic podcast and
I'm your host.
Rahul N Singh and I generallytalk about Advaita Vedanta,
non-duality, and that tends tobe what we teach here.
But sometimes we talk aboutother matters, which does have
(01:29):
an impact on our personal dharmaand therefore we have to talk
about it.
But this is an important one.
When we say that God is allpervading, then literally we are
saying that every singleparticle, every single atom
contains God, are saying thatevery single particle, every
single atom contains god.
(01:50):
There's nothing that can youknow.
It doesn't say that it's partlypervading this.
Or even if we have the notionof good and evil, right, it
cannot be only pervading thegood and then not pervading evil
.
That would not support theall-pervading quality that is
(02:12):
given to God.
Sometimes we say God isomnipresent.
Well, again, omni means only, and present means present, so
the only one present.
Present means present, so theonly one present.
So if it's omnipresent and it'sthe only one present, then
(02:33):
where is me and mine in this?
Eventually, we have tounderstand that there is nothing
but this formless, nothing butthis consciousness, and that is
what we truly are Now, even as abody and mind.
Now, let's look at it through adifferent way.
Instead of negating the bodyand mind, let's look at it in
the sense of well, what if thisbody and mind also has God
(02:57):
pervading it?
Now, if you think in that way, then your body becomes a temple,
your mind becomes a temple.
So would you speak ill aboutothers?
Would you harm others?
Would you deliberately causeharm to others?
I know that sometimes we can dothings accidentally, but
(03:17):
purposefully, if you try to harmother people.
Can that happen?
When you are consciously awarethat god is pervading your mind,
that god is pervading your body.
So even what we intake throughthe body is important.
(03:40):
What we do with our body, keeping a healthy lifestyle,
that's when you know that God isresiding in your body.
So when we have thatperspective in life, then every
thought we want has the abilityto create profound effects of
transformation.
(04:00):
We can transform from being solimited to something limitless
Within seconds, within a moment.
A moment that again will turninto eternity, because we
realize that this being that wecall God is timeless.
Now a lot of people tend to alsothink that if you believe in
(04:23):
Advaita Vedanta, you don'tbelieve in God.
That's not necessarily true.
I've done an episode on thisbefore, but I'll say it again
yes, I used to be an atheist.
I'm not one now.
I kind of have departed awayfrom that for some time now, but
(04:44):
I understand the necessity ofbeginning on this path.
As an atheist, I can see thebenefits, you know, when you
have to rid yourself of allnotions.
For example, a notion that Idid have was that we are
different parts of God, and sothere was me that's separate and
God that is separate, and oneday we will merge, and most
(05:08):
likely we will merge after death.
Now, the problem with that typeof belief not that it's bad,
but the limiting aspect of thatbelief was that it wasn't going
with my experience, meaning thatonce I connected with God,
there was only God present andtherefore it's very hard to say,
(05:32):
well, I'm a part of this, no,there is no separation.
Therefore, to say that one is apart of something would be
actually limiting even thelimitless in this, in this
aspect.
So, for example, if this partof god is taken away to some
(05:55):
other universal planet, does itstill remain with you?
Does it still remain, uh, doesthat still remain part of God?
Say and say that God is just ofthis universe, you know, but
you see my point, it's alimiting belief, it's somewhat a
(06:19):
blind belief, something that Imaybe falsely understood.
I maybe falsely understood.
So when we understand that, well, I'm not simply a part of
God, I'm not separate to God,then it's very different.
So my atheism at one time itfreed me from certain concepts,
(06:51):
but at the same time as I cameback into spirituality or should
I say I was still inspirituality I don't think it
was the absence of spirituality.
So when it came to relearning,so I had to unlearn, now I have
to relearn it came to a pointwhere so I had to unlearn, now I
have to relearn it came to apoint where God was actually
undeniable, because I understoodthat the fundamental part of
(07:16):
existence is consciousness, andthe scriptures talk about
consciousness.
So I had actually subtly, probably believed that God was
some sort of being somewhere.
But then when I understood thatGod is existence, then I was
like, oh well, that makes moresense.
(07:36):
It's the one playing the gameof many, but actually it's just
one.
And you know, we can entertainourselves and think that we're
part of the many, but then whenwe take a closer look and we go
deeper into our spiritualpractice and we we actually
start having that experience ofoneness and unity, then we
(07:59):
understand that actually it'sonly the game of the one that's
being played.
So, fundamentally, if God isall-pervading and it's pervading
here right now, then there'snothing except God, and even the
(08:22):
notion that there's a separateme, a separate you, simply
doesn't exist.
It's a narrative that this mindthat has created that thinks
it's separate to the God that isalready pervading it.
So that's a different aspect to, maybe, non-duality in the
(08:47):
traditional sense, but if wereally want to go deeper into
this all-pervading aspect and wego deeper into it as a
meditation, it can take usreally far and it can really
really bring us to experienceliberation right now in this
life.
So once we understand that thisformless consciousness that we
(09:11):
call God is within everything, within everyone, within every
being there's no single place onthis existence where this is
not.
There's no single place on thisexistence where this is not
then simply resting in thisformless awareness becomes a
very simple matter for us.
(09:32):
And that is the end of theepisode.
