(00:00):
Welcome back to the Behavioral Blueprint podcast.
(00:03):
Today, we're getting personal.
I'll be sharing my own holistic healing blueprint
in a framework of what can maximize growth for yourself
and also well-being with blending traditional therapy,
spiritual practices, and also powerful rituals
that you can use for yourself.
Let's start with establishing a foundation.
What does it mean to be spiritual for yourself?
(00:26):
That can be a word, that can be a religion,
that can be physical items that mean something to you,
or even forms of heirlooms from your family.
How does that connect with yourself?
And also how we can look at the various definitions
of what that means for you.
Today, we're going to focus on the universal theme
of interconnectedness, also what that means
(00:48):
for being a part of something
that's larger than just yourself.
And of course, when you think of the word spirituality,
you think of the crystal girl
and also what it means to have the sage
and the Palo Santo and all of these things that, of course,
if you were on 2020 TikTok, you understand what that means.
(01:09):
But when we look at the examples of spirituality
in religions and then also with the people
that we connect to on a deeper level,
it's going to be examples of meditation,
mindfulness, prayers,
contention of understanding like texts,
like if you have a book or a religion that has a book
with your religion, same thing I'm saying.
(01:31):
Then you, of course, can understand the physical concept
of looking through the text
and looking through the scriptures
and understanding that it has meaning
and it has some deeper understanding for yourself.
Then also we can look at like spiritual retreats, traveling.
Those things help you spiritually
because you're in a space of not focusing on the routine
(01:55):
of where you are always at and then also practicing love.
Understanding that compassion and love
are often described as looking at spiritual elevation
and then also how you can help yourself
with being more spiritual with yourself.
Of course, people say all the time,
if you love yourself, then you love everything around you.
(02:16):
And that truly makes actual sense
and it's a reality for a lot of people
because their reality is love.
Their existence is love.
They move and act in forms that are helping for them
and then also what people would say is spiritually elevating.
If you believe in fate
(02:36):
or if you believe in everything happens for a reason,
then this is the episode for you.
As a Sagittarius woman myself,
I know that having hope and having inspiration
and having things that give you reason
are going to be honestly your ship
and where you guide yourself.
For me, I have multiple different things
(02:58):
that I tap into myself for my spirituality
and then also for my fulfillment with a religion.
And I know that with the security of these things
and how they benefit me,
I know that they are interconnected.
I know that they all happen to be for me
because they were placed into my life for a reason.
(03:19):
As a person that is a user of sage
and then also a user of crystals and tarot and astrology
and all of these practices and mediums that people use,
I know that there are a bigger thing than just myself.
There are contradictions in religions
that people say are not correct from my practices,
(03:41):
but how can I be a person
that is gonna judge somebody else
for what they practice?
As long as it's not harming anybody, of course, right?
But that's the best part about spirituality.
It's bigger than just yourself.
You're most likely not gonna just be the only person
that knows information about this religion,
about this part of spirituality
(04:01):
or even about this part of even yourself.
How do you connect with understanding these things
of levels in meditation or levels in journaling
or levels with understanding what I said earlier,
understanding your medium?
These things that I practice are my medium
because I know they work.
What do you know as things for yourself are your mediums
(04:24):
and they don't have to be because somebody else
in your family is using it?
What do you better identify or yourself
as something that makes sense to you?
Now, of course, take time to reflect,
go outside, take a walk.
But I don't see people actually walk anymore.
I don't see people who actually should have
(04:45):
or reinvent the trend of walking.
And then also try to find deeper experiences
that have helped you realize,
hmm, maybe there is something bigger than just myself.
But then also look at the aspect of not needing to be
in forms of selfishness when you know
that there are communities around you
that support what you believe in.
(05:07):
It helps you know that you're not alone.
And when you feel like you're alone,
you can also find communities
and foster relationships with them.
That's why I say that creating a blueprint for your life
and then also creating a blueprint for your spirituality
to be structured and secure will create a form
(05:27):
of you being structured in yourself,
you being structured in your love life,
you being structured in all of these different
mind-body connections that you need to have.
And your tip for this segment, for understanding
what you need is journaling.
I haven't journaled in a long time because I don't need to,
but I do know that practicing often journaling
(05:50):
and often writing will help you release a form
that's what is always in your head.
As a person that does have things always repeating
in my head, I know that I have a limitation
with thinking of these things
when I just need to express it.
So if you are a person that can bounce off the walls
and go with moments where you're just constantly
(06:11):
re-looping something, question it, pause, and then journal.
So you can know, okay, this is something that I can use
as a tool to better understand myself.
Now, let's look at the effects of doing
your spiritual practices and also consistently
doing the spiritual practices.
Statistically, we can of course see that there is a positive
(06:32):
with understanding your mental wellbeing
and then connecting it with your practices in your life.
Now, how do you foster resilience?
And then also how do you maintain
the emotional health that you need?
I say for understanding yourself,
there's nothing that's gonna look the same
for person to person.
Where do you go with needing this thing
(06:55):
when you deal with quote unquote, this other thing?
How do you respond when there is something
that is difficult for you,
and you do know that you can find a way of release
for yourself?
Then also ask if the thing that you are doing
is promoting emotional health or forms of health for you,
emotional, spiritual, mental,
(07:16):
all of the different forms and boxes.
But then also question if what you have done is from you.
Are you doing actions?
Are you doing things because this person told you
that this is better for you
or are you doing it for yourself?
Because going back to what I was talking about,
we know that if you have these things
(07:37):
that are interconnected like the heirlooms
or knowing things with your family
or knowing things with your religion,
those, if they are healthy,
especially traditions and families,
use your community because that's what they're there for.
You can do of course free options
and then also you can do things like the small stuff,
(08:00):
having dinner or connecting with friends.
Now, understand that the challenges
that you are going to deal with
are going to be in your life.
Accepting that they are a part of life
and then also a part of the challenges
and difficulties that you have,
they make you a better person,
(08:21):
but then also they help you build your character.
I remember talking about in one of my other episodes,
having spiritual crisis
and then also how much that plays a part
with even disconnecting with spirituality
and also things that are in your life
like religions and things like that.
How do we have healthy relationships with religions
(08:43):
when the seeds of these religions are healthy
and they have practices and traditions
that are effective for, let's say for example,
like the queer community comparing to religions
that play a very big part in today's society.
We obviously know that Christianity
(09:04):
and how people have conversations about Christianity,
people think it's a touchy topic to talk about queerness
and trans people and all of these things
that are very normal to me,
but then they exist in the real world.
When you have a crisis where you think
(09:25):
that you're not enough
and you think that you have to be in a form of performing
for the sake of the traditions of family,
but then how that plays a part with religion as well,
I do wanna offer a space in telling you that you're seen
and that isn't something that is taken for ease
(09:45):
and then know that you don't have to survive
in that mental state anymore.
The spiritual angst in how you went through that
isn't something that you have to experience,
but then you also get to build off of that.
Remember how I was saying about the character earlier?
Look at this as a moment where you're in the mirror
(10:10):
and you have to question how you can go forward,
how you can go past the mental limit
because you feel like you can't go through anymore.
You're emotionally tired,
you're feeling like you have to perform,
you feel like you have to do all of these things
that are limiting, right?
Look at if this is a question to yourself
(10:32):
or if this is your future self
asking you to look at the personal growth
and this is the awakening that you need to have
and this is the thing that is preventing you
from all of the doors opening.
Now, I always do say that personal growth
isn't just something that comes from the good experiences,
(10:53):
it also comes from the harder experiences
that people don't talk about.
And who these people are, who you are,
and every single one of my listeners
is meant for true growth
and meant for true awakening of themselves.
Whenever you do go through the challenges of thinking
(11:14):
that you can't go through an issue
or go through a moment of thinking that you can bypass
or connect with yourself, go and base yourself down.
Understand that you are a human first,
you are a human person,
but then you get to choose your spiritual experiences
(11:35):
when you get the freedom to.
But then also know that the things that happened to you
before are not gonna happen to you again.
Because why?
You're a human person.
You can base yourself down to that identity
where you know that you can have the forcible choice
of knowing who you are.
But then now that you know you're just a person
(11:56):
and you can create these choices,
you can choose the mediums and the practices
and also the things that don't make sense
and that you're curious about, of course, safely.
And know that these things are things that are choices.
Your spiritual connections to things are choices.
(12:17):
Then they create relationships with yourself,
but then also relationships with people.
Because all of these spiritualities and religions and,
I'm using those as umbrella terms if you don't know,
but I am using spirituality and religion
as the umbrella terms for all of the things
and religions and the isms and all of that.
(12:38):
But I am offering the insight of telling you
that all of these things are choices.
Now, families, people are born into religions, yes,
but we can walk away from them just as much
as we can walk to them.
So know that it is a choice, but then also
(12:59):
that whenever you have the moment of questioning
where you are, base it down.
Break it down because you are a person.
You get to be a person every day
and you get to wake up as a person every day in your skin.
As a person who has dealt with mental issues,
(13:19):
mental crashes, and also forms of questioning
my mental sanity, I feel like I know the difference
between the scale of the physical world
and then the spiritual world because I've seen both
and then I've felt both and then I've connected with both.
I see that both of them play a part with who you are
(13:44):
and you need to prioritize both of them.
Your emotional, physical self is important.
Your mental health is important.
And you can't just subside your physical aspect
of who you are because there is gasoline in you.
There's so much that you can take
(14:04):
and there's so much energy that you can have
and there's also a cap of where you can go.
And when you recognize the form of looking at the scale,
I guess I'll use that, looking at the scale,
you know that they have to be even.
You can't care so much more about your physical
(14:25):
but then lose sense of self with your spiritual
and then go way too deep into spiritual psychosis
and not care about your physical self.
You have to have an even middle ground of both
because that's stability.
Now, that's my advice, but I do offer a space
of looking at where this fits best for you.
(14:49):
This is about where your growth can lead
and how you can best create movement for yourself
and create betterment for yourself.
If you've led or have faced through a challenge
that has made you go through personal forms of growth,
I just wanna give you a round of applause really quick
(15:10):
because you are important.
You're special, you're kind, and you're needed in this world.
And I really wanna go on emphasis to saying
that you are not just a strong person,
but you are a person.
And I am so proud of you for undergoing through your story
(15:31):
and through the things that you went through.

(16:13):
The more the merrier because growth, of course,
is what we need in this world.
I hope that you enjoy this episode so far.
Now let's get back into the holistic healing blueprint.
Now that we went through curiosity
and breaking down the holistic framework,
let's look at building the framework.
Traditional therapy has been an example
(16:33):
that I've spoken about before,
but then also let's look at if we, of course,
don't see that as an option
or we don't want that as an option for us.
Meditation, rituals, and then also sacred journaling
and storytelling with yourself have been examples
that I have practiced and then also what I've seen
other people practice based off of my research
(16:55):
and also my friends and family.
Now, a personal practice that I use has been tarot
for the last good four or five years.
I've practiced tarot and I've used tarot as a medium
and a form of me understanding my future,
my love life, my career, my personal life,
(17:15):
and of course even more.
I've known that looking at this medium that I use
has helped me create a form of a connection
with my ancestors and my spirit guides
and of course who positively encourages my life.
And I noticed that with building that throughout time,
(17:36):
there's been moments where I've had to put down
the tarot cards and reflect within myself.
I think people kind of deal with thinking that tarot readers,
especially the ones that don't practice professionally
or that do not take care of their customers
the way that I agree with.
We get the stigma that we are just always doing tarot.
(17:59):
That's not usual and I'm honestly concerned
for the people that always are practicing
because there's always a form of releasing energy
when you do practice.
It can be very draining to do tarot readings back to back
and interpret what this means
and what this means and all of this.
It's time consuming and it takes work.
(18:22):
And this became of course a conversation about tarot
but focusing back on the building,
I use tarot as my form of building,
my spiritual sense of self.
So what do you use for yourself
that helps you build a form of a house?
(18:43):
Think of it as building blocks.
I use tarot day by day if I wanted to
but then I could use it week by week.
I could put it down for multiple months
and then use another medium that I know I use
that helps me and it doesn't just have to be strictly tarot.
You can use multiple different things
(19:04):
but then also if you feel like you just want
to have one connection to one spiritual benefit
or benefit factor, do that.
Just know that it shouldn't have to be scary.
It shouldn't have to be scary to journey out
and look into what is better for you
or what makes more sense for you.
There are multiple families and friend groups
(19:25):
and so many communities that have one person
that believes in other things
and then of course four other people that believe in this.
So you don't have to be a square when it comes down
to what makes sense for you but then also what pours
into your cup and what makes you feel best.
And if you're curious about what meditation can do
(19:46):
for you, journaling or also like exercise
or things that help you, of course again, deep down,
just be curious with them.
Start small and do it day by day, hour by hour
or what works for you and then see if it resonates with you.
Question yourself and your intuition to see,
(20:09):
okay, does this feel good?
Because even how I could relate it back to tarot,
it took me a very long time to create a form of intuition
with myself to know that I'm communicating
and also knowing what I'm doing.
So take your time and learn slowly
because you're not needing to be an expert off-rip.
(20:32):
You can be in moments of thinking that,
okay, I don't know everything
because you are just a learner.
You're just a person that's open into learning
what is meant for you in this world.
Now let's talk about the power of collaboration
in communities.
Imagine if you had every single person
(20:53):
or every single thing that could fit you spiritually.
I want you to know that it exists in the world
and you can have collaborative friends, partnerships,
communities that fit for you.
I was recently dealing with where I've had to find
a church community in Dallas.
(21:14):
And it is very, very difficult to have
what is shown on social media actually play a part
with what is the spirit in the room.
And it took me some time where I went to,
where did I go to?
I went to one community church, I liked it, it was amazing.
(21:34):
And then I went to, what was the other one?
There was so many that I went to week by week,
but there were just a couple of them that I was just like,
okay, is this aligned for me?
Is this something that I feel really secure with
where I don't have to question it walking out the door
or walking and greeting anybody that's working there
(21:57):
or that's a guest there?
Do I feel good walking from pew to pew?
These are important things that are important
for my perspective of enjoying church, you know?
Look at where you can connect that.
And how it feels for you.
But then also you can do the same thing with
if you're practicing therapy
(22:19):
and you need to have a proper therapist.
It took me like three tries, maybe four to find Karen.
It took me forever to find Karen, but now I have her.
So it's so much easier for me to look at my approach
with weeding out what I need to.
In this life and what you get to have,
you're privileged to get a choice
(22:40):
and you're privileged to understand
that this is just something that could be long-term
or something that can be short-term.
And if you weed out the choices
and you make a decision that you know you feel secure with
that creates it in your life to be something
that you can have in a long-term journey for yourself.
(23:01):
Also know the difference between community healers
and spiritual leaders,
and then also knowing who you take information from
because not everybody that has a name or has a platform
is going to be the people that feed into what you want.
So if you have somebody that of course has a mass following
(23:25):
or has a mass approach or people love what they have
but you just don't like it
and you feel like you don't need it,
then know and pick it apart and know,
okay, this is not for me.
I don't want this anymore
or I don't think this is going to work for myself
and remove yourself from the thing
that you know you don't wanna be around.
(23:46):
But then also know that just because it doesn't work for you
doesn't mean it can't work for somebody else.
And also another tip,
I know that it takes time to find proper leaders
that are practicing in a healthy way,
but once you do look into finding the leaders
in your community and helping with guidance
(24:07):
or if you feel like you have that leader mentality
or leadership skillset, be open to volunteering.
And then that also creates a form
where you can have the community physically with yourself
to better yourself.
I wanted to give you guys three extra tips
to practice for your life whenever it comes down
(24:29):
to how you're going to look into taking care
of understanding what you need spiritually for yourself.
Number one, know that you can build a support system.
You don't have to do it alone.
And you know, if you know,
that you can do the form of healing with your friends,
family, or even your therapist of choice.
(24:50):
Knowing that you have a support system
can of course take care of your encouragement,
your confidence,
and how you can look at accountability for yourself,
spiritually, mentally, and also emotionally.
Number two, start small, but then celebrate big.
When you have the moments of doing the five minute meditation
(25:10):
or the 10 sentence journaling or even a walk,
like I've been suggesting this whole episode,
celebrate those.
But then also when you go to a new form of a church
or a mosque or even talking to your friends
about what it means to you for these things in your life,
(25:34):
start small, but celebrate big.
Because these achievements for yourself
are not something to just be small for.
You are important in the things that you take care of
and the things that you are afraid of that you overcome
are just as important.
So get to celebrate big because you deserve it.
And tip number three,
(25:55):
look into the inventory of your toolbox.
This is what I wrote down, the inventory of your toolbox.
So knowing the tools that you have for yourself
and how they help you practice your life.
Do they negatively help you practice the things that you need
or do they positively help you
practice the thing that you need?
(26:15):
Look at how you can do grounding
and then also how you can identify the strengths
for the tools in your life.
If grounding is a tool, if taking a deep breath is a tool,
if removing yourself from a problem is the tool,
see how these things can help you positively
and then also negatively, but then use them or tweak them
(26:39):
to help you have a better approach in your life.
Remember, this is your journey.
Embrace the practices and then also what resonates for you
in creating your holistic healing blueprint.
Integrating these traditional therapy options,
these meditations, journaling,
and all of the other things that I covered in your life
(27:01):
will cultivate the things that you need.
Also, it can help you achieve the greater wellbeing
for yourself and also what is around you.
Like how I started this episode,
if you love yourself and you love your existence,
then what is around you will show the same.
Thank you so much for listening to this episode
of the Behavioral Blueprint
(27:23):

for navigating the twists and turns of this life
in our next episode.
