(00:00):
It's not a private guy. Give me back our pro wrestling

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome toGive Me Back My Pro Wrestling.
(00:42):
You love, Sir. Don't know.
Now you know. Baby, this is hot Rod Bigs.
Jared, Jimmy St. We're going to take them to the
limit. One more time, baby.
Right here. Oh, give me back my pro
wrestling. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome
one more time to give me back mypro wrestling and I am here as
always with my brother from the same father and mother.
(01:03):
The plastic sheet, Jared St. andJared, did you?
Did you? I brought some charisma with me.
That's right, our Co host with the MO host Quentin Charisma is
here as well. Welcome Quentin.
How you doing buddy? Good.
What's up guys? Not much, man.
How you How's it? How's it up in Bowling Green
today? It's a little sunny, a little,
(01:25):
you know, high 70s, not, not toobad.
Yeah, not too bad all day. Yeah, yeah, I, I kind of getting
I'm, I'm like man, what's the 70s and 40s at night and 70s
during the day 40s and it's like, you know, you really, it's
almost too hot to just do the windows open, but it's too, you
(01:46):
know what I mean? Like you can't get a good blend
in the house. But anyway, yeah, I like my
house ice cold anyway, so I'm always, you know, at the
thermostat. So it's.
Like. Taping it down.
Yeah, keeping her down locked. Yeah, I'm the opposite, right.
(02:06):
I got, I got to have it. I got to have a cold, man.
I'm too cold and fat. To be sweating.
Yeah, me too, man. Excuse me.
Yeah, I don't. I don't want to sweat ever in my
own home, you know, unless I'm doing something that I have to
sweat. But.
Other than that. It doesn't seem right, but
(02:26):
anyway, we got a cool show today, man.
You know little farmer John or Jared has got me saying little
Parmesan, but but Roger Calvert.Very cool show.
Very. Sorry, yeah, dad joke.
Insert dad joke. But yeah, man.
So what do you know about Roger Quinton?
Oh man, I've known known him fora while.
(02:47):
I mean that not you know, you know, been on a few shows in
through the years actually worked a mixed tag with against
him one time. I never really close because you
know that they didn't the the little guys, they didn't stay,
you know, and one that you know, they traveled a lot.
You know, different. They come in, you know, they one
(03:09):
show be gone and see him next, you know, a year later, you
know, so never and and dressing rooms that connected a lot of
places. So we we got to talk to him a
couple times really. Right, right, because they were
kind of like the, the women, right?
Basically, you know, a guy wouldsay I need two women and the
women would probably travel together just like these the
little guys, you know, and, and they're, they're traveling
(03:31):
partners and it's like I need 2 guys.
Well, that's a match. Bring them in 2 ladies.
That's a match. We'll bring them in and they
would ride in and, you know, and, and yeah, I could totally
see that they're kind of like those little extras that they
throw on a card and, you know, and, and so, yeah, I could see
that not being really consistentbecause you don't want to run
(03:52):
that every night. But, but every once in a while
as a treat, it's, it's kind of cool to have them.
So bring them on in, you know, and, and I can almost say that
that could limit his, his, his amount of people.
He worked though, because him and Danny I'm sure were married
for a long time, you know? Yeah.
But that that's like, you know, they actually they were more
(04:14):
rare than the women, right, Right.
You see the women a lot more around, you know, this area than
you would would see them. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And Ralph and Danny were the twomainstays that we would get down
here. And then, you know, every now
and then you get Chief Little Lone Eagle.
(04:35):
Yeah, and and you know and you get him, but but majority of it
was Danny and Roger. And where was it kind of a
regional and I guess territory kind of thing too, where they
like, OK, look, you're, you know, you're kind of here and
there, you know, or I mean, he, you know, I imagine they
traveled everywhere, but you know, it.
(04:56):
I guess what I'm trying to say is like, did each region have
their own little people? You know what I mean?
Like, you know, I. Think they did like back in the
day maybe. I know they, they did a lot, you
know, more. I think they did more around
here, this Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky area because
they were based based out of, you know, Southern Kentucky.
(05:17):
So I'm sure they got, you know, they did more bookings closer.
But yeah, from what I know, theywent out.
They went a lot of, you know, you know, but the action, you
know, back in the day, you know, they basically everyone was
under Lord Littlebrook, you know, and so and I don't even
know where they were based out of so yeah.
(05:40):
But but you know, after that, that stopped and they basically,
you know, out on their own doingit.
So you know. So was Lord Littlebrook, like
the fabulous Mullah of the little people.
From what I've read, he was, yeah.
OK. But I hope he was.
He was a better person. OK.
(06:01):
That was the second question that was about.
Yeah, from what I mean, I don't know.
I personally, I don't, you know,I haven't actually talked to one
of the guys that worked for him,you know that.
But from what I've read, you know, he was better than what
Mullah was, you know? Yeah, yeah, I know.
Debbie Combs told me. She was like, you know, well, my
mom said don't go to Mullah, youknow, do anything you can to not
(06:24):
work with Mullah. And her mom kind of looked out
for her, but you know, she she did not want to go work for
Mullah because basically, you know, they, they get, they
didn't get anything like Mullah took their money and you know,
she provided them with a place to live, but she charged them
exorbitant amount for rent and all this stuff.
(06:46):
And so essentially, even though she was paying the money, she
was getting it back on the back end anyway for.
Although. I thought I saw a story.
Actually, that was a Lanika actually told the story.
I didn't have heard this, that that Moola had a restaurant and
she made them working in her restaurant.
Wow. Man, I'm.
(07:08):
Like, gosh, that's just. It's indentured servitude
almost, you know, it's like man.And none of the girls got over
as as much as her anyway. I mean, maybe Sherry and you
know, I know Wendy Richter had her moment, but that got killed.
So interesting man. I I mean there's there's some
(07:30):
there's some darkness in this sport we love, right.
It's. The dark side people they did
they ever do one on Mullah? Yeah, they did.
I think that was first season, actually, Maybe second.
Yeah, yeah. Maybe second season, I can't
remember. Yeah.
It's a pretty good one, it it, yeah.
Yeah, it didn't paint Mullah in the best light though, but let's
(07:53):
just. Yeah, no.
And some people have disagreed with some of the stuff they've
said. So right, Who knows if yeah.
Well, that's everybody. I mean everybody has their, you
know, fans have their, has theirfans has their, you know, people
in their corner. They you know that work, you
know that we work with them or work for them, whatever.
So that's like everybody you have the ones that you know will
(08:15):
actually bury them when you havesome will stick up for them.
So I mean that's with everybody,no matter how they were a good
person, if they were just lowestof the low, you're going to find
a few people that will stick up for them.
Yeah, yeah, definitely, definitely.
Well, I, you know, I, I love talking these old stories, man.
And of course we have Roger on the show today, so I'm excited
(08:37):
about that. But unfortunately, you know,
we've lost another of of our ourwrestling family with with Jim
Hoot Gibson. He was the pride of Lebanon, VA,
had a hardware store wrestled for ghoul is some wrestled
mostly for the poffos and then, you know, the the outlaws of his
(08:58):
time. But but a lot of fun.
I had a pipe dream of hopefully getting him on the podcast.
But the more that I heard about his his health situation, you
know, unfortunately, I didn't think that was ever going to
happen. He had had a Parkinson's.
I think he was having memory issues.
And I just think, you know, timehas really done its number on,
(09:22):
on poor Hoot. But man, it's, it's crazy.
You know, so many people have, you know, talked about him since
his passing. And but we, we definitely, you
know, any of his loved ones or, or people who enjoyed watching
Hoot wrestle, you know, we definitely send our condolences
out there to them for sure. Yeah.
(09:44):
It's a, you know, he was one of Ronnie Garvin's best friends.
I know you got some questions into Ronnie when you had him on
the Wolfie show. It was great to hear that.
And you know, a lot of people remember him from being, I think
he was head of security at the Bristol Mall in Bristol here.
So it was, you know, people would see him there.
(10:05):
And I have like memories in my, I, I guess they're real.
They feel like they're real to me.
I have memories of seeing him atthe mall now.
Did I remember who he was? And I probably didn't, but I was
pretty young. Probably when yeah, that so.
But yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure Uncle Duel probably was
cutting up with him over there. I probably remember seeing that
(10:26):
or something like that, so. Yeah, and I mean, I remember
stories of our uncle duel. I know he said he went hunting
with him at least couple times, you know, which that was not
uncommon for my uncle to do, especially with people he knew.
But I do remember seeing him at the mall and I remember feeling
like I saw him at Walmart. And if, if, if it wasn't in a
security job, it was just as a customer there.
(10:49):
But I, I don't think I, I know that we never saw him wrestle,
unfortunately. But but we, I think he had kind
of been wrapped up a little bit,you know, or very limited time
in the, in the business. Yeah.
Probably when the Yeah, probablywhen the Paphos went out and
Randy was, you know, in the in the biggest of leagues it it
(11:13):
probably. Yeah, yeah.
But anyway, you know, God rest hoot, Gibson.
And, you know, hopefully, you know, you're in the big ring in
the sky, brother. But seriously, we, we do send
our condolences out and and I just hate it.
We never really got to got to pick his brain, unfortunately.
(11:36):
You know, like you said, I I gotto talk to different wrestlers
about him. George Winegrove knew who well,
but Ronnie really knew him the best.
Ronnie, I think, visited with him at least once a month.
And there's a funny story and I that Ronnie was there, you know,
one of these said he didn't think he had much longer to go.
And Ronnie asked him. He says, does anybody else come
(11:58):
by and visit you? And, and who says, yeah, Ronnie
Garvin comes behind, sees me sometimes.
And, you know, I mean, you got to laugh at that stuff, man.
It's, it's you know, he's telling that to Ronnie Garvin
that Ronnie drops by and sees him.
But you know, anyway, I'm sure he was he's he's like I said,
he's in the big ring in the sky with all the other, you know,
(12:22):
all of his poffo buddies and, you know, seeing all of his
buddies he hadn't seen in a longtime.
And and that's all we can hope for.
But anyway, you know. Rest in peace, hoot.
Gibson and I don't know. I don't know.
I don't think I have anything else.
I hate to go right into this, but I think, I think we need
Roger to cheer us up. Roger.
(12:42):
Yeah, he'll make us laugh, I bet.
Yeah, What do you say, Quentin? You ready for that?
Yeah, let's do it. All right, we'll be right back
with little Farmer John after these messages.
Are you a pro wrestling fan? We'll stop by Captain's Corner,
where you can get autographed photos, cards, magazines, and
figures from all of your favorite wrestling superstars of
(13:04):
the past, present, and future. You'll also be able to
participate in live signings in the weeks and months to come.
Make sure to stop by Captain's Corner on Facebook and give us a
holler. Remember, cheers to the working
man. All right, we are back with a
very special guest today and andonce again I've got my brother
(13:27):
the Plastic Sheik. We've got Quentin Charisma here.
This is an awesome show today. Very excited about this one.
The history this gentleman has in pro wrestling is is awesome.
I mean, he's done a little bit of everything from the Indies to
the Outlaws to the Memphis to the WWE.
But I'm going to shut up and lethim tell it today.
(13:50):
We have a very special guest today, and his name is Roger
Calvert, AKA Little Farmer John.Roger, welcome to the show,
buddy. Thank you for coming on.
Glad to be here, Glad to be here.
How how you doing today, man? You doing all right?
Doing good it's cool outside so I'm staying in the house so I.
(14:10):
Don't blame you, stay warm. Weather man.
Yeah, yeah, no doubt. Where?
Where are you roughly? I where am I?
I am in in Butler County, Kentucky.
Butler County, OK, gotcha. Yeah.
You ever you ever run into JamieDundee or Wolfie D up in that
area? Not forever, not.
(14:33):
Forever. Not I used to see Jamie every
once in a while, but I haven't seen none of them forever now,
you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know if you know him, but I don't.
What I ever know is that I run into is Terry Adonis.
You ever know Terry Adonis? Man, we wanted to have him on
the podcast for a long time, buthe he kind of is K fabiness.
(14:55):
But yes, I, I, I never met him, but I've heard a lot about him
and definitely, you know, interested in learning more.
But yeah, Terry Donnis. What?
What a great name. Man, His name comes up so often
on this podcast actually so. I mean, he was, he was a great
worker, yeah. Yes, he was.
Yes, he was. Yeah, and then he did.
(15:18):
And that Mongolian gimmick he did was great.
Oh, man. Yeah, yeah.
Excellent stuff. Excellent stuff.
Yeah, crazy. Can I say something real fast?
He did. He worked Terry Donnas in the
area forever, you know, Tennessee, Kentucky.
And then when he did switched over and did the Mohawk, the
(15:38):
Mongolian gimmick, people didn'tknow it was him.
No, they had no idea. Yeah.
And and he and he was scary looking.
That's why I'm going. He was.
You're right. So I should do that, you know,
if I, if I didn't know you, if Ihad been, because I've been best
friends with him now for 37 years, I said if I met you in a
dark alley, I would run. And legit Terry was legit tough.
(16:04):
Yeah. Legit tough.
You can fight Gypsy go when you can fight Gypsy go toe to toe.
You're pretty tough. Yeah, yeah.
Well, we're still holding out hope that he'll come on the
podcast. I mean, honestly, I I'll.
Talk. I'll talk to him.
I'll talk to him about every day.
Oh, well, thank you, Roger. Yeah.
(16:26):
Just tell him we don't bite, man.
That's all that matters. Even if he does.
Yeah, well, we always start the podcast out with the plastic
Sheik's favorite question. Sheik.
Take it away all. Right, Roger.
So this is just going to let people know your influences in
the business or who you like to watch.
(16:46):
If you had four or five guys in the business that you like to
watch, they influence you, or that you just thought were
they're great, who would those guys be?
Well, I guess I go back to my childhood.
It'd probably be Jackie Fargo. Oh yes.
People like the fans when I was a teenager and then, you know,
(17:07):
growing up, you know, after I got into the business, everybody
lived. Stone Cold Steve Austin, I mean.
Oh yeah, yeah, definitely. He was just great, you know,
even on the migrant work at either one.
And then I don't watch a whole lot of it here.
Like for a while it's just gotten.
I don't know. It's not the same.
(17:29):
Then I have the same feel, yeah.Yeah.
Yeah, so. You got one more force.
I really like Daniel Brideson for, you know, a bride, Daniel
bride or whatever. Whatever.
Yeah, yeah, whatever. Yeah, I like watching him too,
for a long for a while, and thenI guess he's finally hung it up.
Yeah. So, yeah, I, I I agree with you.
(17:51):
Yeah, I agree with you. I really like watching him
wrestle, too. He's one of the lone bright
spots in current wrestling, you know, So.
Or he has been, at least. So.
But anyway, that was a great list, man.
Yeah, I noticed there was no little Tokyo's on there or
anything like that. What's up, Roger?
Come on. I sit back when I was, you know,
(18:12):
growing up, I didn't see a wholelot of media wrestling.
I really did. I mean, it was just every just
maybe once every couple of yearsyou would see, you know, you
know, get to see them. You know, the first wrestling
mate ever went to some friends of my parents was going and in
Gallatin, TN. I don't know if you know where
that's. Oh yeah, of course.
(18:34):
And they would want to take me. And they, they was like, why you
won't take Rogers? Because I was only like 5.
OK, well, there's two minutes going to be there.
And we, we didn't know if Rogersever seen any other midgets.
You know, they was like, well, and I went and that was it.
That was hooked. That was it.
Well, yeah. So you're leading me in a good
(18:54):
path there. So tell me about your younger
days. I think I've.
I've been I've been stalking youonline, Roger.
So I apologize. I know a little bit about you.
I think you went to Westmoreland, correct?
In Westmoreland High School, Yeah, yeah, just a little bitty
spot in the road town, you know? And were you born in Nashville?
Were you born? No, I was born.
I was actually born in Scottsville.
(19:15):
OK, OK, gotcha. Yeah, well, tell us about your
childhood, man. I want to hear something.
I just growed up, you know, I played Little League baseball
and, you know, and then then I just played it with all the
kids. And then then I was in the
marching band for three years and then kind of got burned out
on it. Yeah.
Started hanging out with the football players.
(19:37):
You know, I was, I was, I got taught how to tape angles and
knees and OK and everything else.
And so I graduated and you know, then as soon as I, I mean that
was already rest of the part I graduated so.
How did that? Well, yeah, Go ahead, Quentin.
Take it over here all. Right, important to say
something real fast. I'm going to throw something in
(19:57):
there. Roger, you're from Westmoreland,
TN originally. I go to church in Westmoreland,
TN and my associate pastor, my associate pastor is Tracy
Carter. And you grew up with Tracy and
played ball with him And he asked me, I asked him one day
about you and he told me a storyabout you, you and him on the
same Little League team. And hey, that's the world.
(20:21):
Tracy and Troy both. Yep, Tracy and Troy.
Yep. But OK, so we'll solve that.
Great question. So how did you said you was
already wrestling? So how did you get started in
wrestling? How trained you not want?
This is kind of, I mean, when I was in 11th grade, there was a
guy named Phil Watson had came to my school who had a Midget
(20:43):
basketball tape. Oh yeah, I remember those.
Yeah. And and Phil had wrestled, he
wrestled us with for Watson Junior back in the 70s and where
he actually was with for Watson Junior, you know, and he wanted
me to play basketball like no, And I said, I'm still in school.
I got you know, I'm no, I'm so he he I hadn't seen him, hadn't
(21:05):
heard from him in over a year and a half.
And then Dale Mann come to my school.
Bill had told Dale about me. So and he he said, you know,
have you thought about wrestling?
I said, that's all I ever thought about.
That's it, man. You know, so he's, so I started
going up to Jamestown on weekends after school and then
(21:28):
home about two, 3:00 in the morning on Monday morning and
going to school sometimes. Yeah.
OK, Roger, going to there's another part of this question.
It's a good friend, Steve Bow Tie Bryant told that Peter R
(21:49):
Miller, known as the Mongol. Peter R Miller.
Hell yeah. And he?
He took credit for training you and he physically said that he
taught you how to do the Midget spots in a match.
Is that true? That is very true.
I've only been training like 3 weeks before I had my first
(22:13):
match. Just a little simple nothing,
you know, it's just me and Pete and a mix tag.
It gets little Danny and somebody, I don't remember who,
and we did about 3 spots and that was it.
But he taught me my first. He told everybody.
He used to tell everybody that you know.
So I guess he was proud of me. I guess I don't.
(22:35):
Yeah, yeah. That's awesome.
Peter R Miller, The Mongolian Mauler.
Mr. Mr. Peter R Miller, you saida lot, yeah.
Mr. Mr. Talk about a character when that guy was a character.
Yeah, I hate that I never got tomeet him, honestly.
(22:56):
Yeah. He was, he was, he was
different. Yeah, yeah, I heard that.
I heard that. What, what promotion was that
first match for? Is it any certain promotion or
anything or? It was.
It was Dale Man's MWA, Yeah. Oh, yeah.
OK, OK. Very cool.
Very cool, Yeah. It was at the Continental Lands
(23:19):
in Lexington, KY Building's not even there anymore, so used to
be a big hotel up there so. Yeah, Yeah.
That's very cool all. Right Roger, on August the 19th
1989 you did a Memphis TV and this is what confused me until I
actually watched the clip Jimmy sent me.
(23:39):
You worked as little road Warrior.
And everybody, they was going totake Danny and somebody was like
no, no, y'all better not use Danny.
So you didn't you actually you actually had a match.
You did actually had an interview and a match.
You and master of Pain, which everybody knows later on was the
(23:59):
Undertaker, y'all work TD Steel and Tim Hall and the match is on
YouTube out there. So everybody go look at it.
Then y'all were advertised. Actually the YouTube version
that we watched was the Evansville feed and that seems
(24:21):
like that's the most thing it's on YouTube is the Evansville
feed. So you get all the the
Evansville card so on that. So for some reason that month
Evansville, they rent Owensboro and city.
I guess they were doing renovations to the old the old
sailors building there and I. Remember working at Owensboro
for a little bit? I don't even know why, but yeah.
(24:43):
They they was running the Wednesday night Evansville so
they took it to Owensboro which is like 25 minutes down the road
over the bridge. So it has you working that
Wednesday night. It was advertised you to work
Bill Dundee. OK, so do you have any memories
of work in Bill Dundee and did y'all go around the loop with
(25:04):
that match? You in Dundee?
They had that. Y'all remember Ronnie P guys?
Oh yeah, yeah, They had done something where Ronnie P was
promoter of the week or something or another.
And he had all these goofy, crazy matches, you know, it was,
you know, like they had the the Blackbirds and and and the old
(25:30):
wild side Chris champion and against against the Rock'n'roll
Express, you know, and then theythey had a bunch of just weird,
strange matches, you know, and then the next week they kind of
re inverted it. It was Lawler's supposed to
been, you know, the and then they did it something different
because the next week it was me,Danny and but Dundee and get
(25:53):
smashed her paint. Yeah, so.
The next leading question was, yeah, the next week on the on
the average of feed you didn't have a match, but they did list
that match. Yeah.
Well, they so, so they sweet. I know that.
Yeah, they did. The gossip was the promoter for
the week and then they brought it back to normal and they
(26:14):
changed up everything. Because I remember they actually
does this match. And then they did the the next
next week. It was the Rock'n'roll Express
against the Black Birds and WildSide, but they had their legs
taped together. Yeah.
They kind of reversed the whole the whole gimmick of gossip and
they turned everything against in the next 1.
(26:36):
So how did was there any explanation on why they turned
you babyface and actually why they brought let you go to
Farmer John instead of keeping the little road warrior?
What was the deal with that? Danny's name was Little Road
Warrior. And then they they was going to
take, they was going to take himdown there the first week.
And then somebody said no, y'all, y'all don't need to be
(26:58):
used to little Danny. And because he has a tendency, I
love Danny to death, but he had a little tendency to be a little
silly. Yeah.
To be, to be nice, silly. I've heard that, yeah.
And so they said, well, we'll just put Roger under a mask and
call him that since we already got it advertised so.
(27:20):
Well, I got a quick question. Whose hood was that that you
wore out there? Was that yours or was that
somebody elses? Mask I have.
I can't remember whose mask thatwas.
OK, yeah, it was a cool mask, man.
Actually, I liked it the way that it looked.
It kind of almost had that Texashangman look, but it also had
like a yeah, that's. What I was supposed to say,
(27:41):
Yeah, but yeah, I said. I don't remember who had that
mask, but. Hey, Roger, I got a question
about you're talking about how you know they had Danny book and
they kind of yesterday they didn't really trust Danny.
OK. So the second week they actually
brought Danny in. OK, I noticed on the cards,
Dells on the cards, so did they plus it would Dell control
(28:03):
Danny? Is that why they brought him in?
Exactly that was it, because. Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I've heard some incredibles with me being the Co
host on the Wolfie D podcast. I've heard some incredible
stories about Danny man Mike, I'm.
Sure. With with Whoopie and Whoopie
(28:24):
and Jamie and little Danny together one time, was that?
Yeah. Can you imagine how the world
didn't burn down with all them together like.
Seriously. Oh my.
Gosh, like how they could just catch the corner of the world on
fire and blow it all up. I can't imagine how that didn't
happen. Well, Speaking of of, you know,
Dale Mann here at my next question, this one is
(28:45):
interesting and you talking about Jamie too.
Now. OK, so First off, the question
is did you work any of Dale Mann's Wild West tours?
And before you answer that, well, Jamie, Jamie tells a story
that apparently Native Americansare afraid of little people.
We we did one on all Indian reservations.
(29:05):
We went to nothing but Indian reservations.
And you know, I didn't know this, but Indians do not like
midgets. They say midgets are a bad omen.
You know, like if a Midget is born in an Indian tribe, they
kill it, no doubt. They say it's the devil, it's a
witch. So they would not let us.
They would. They told Dale, you can wrestle,
but the midgets can't wrestle. You can't let you can't bring
the midgets to the to the reservation and shit.
(29:27):
So they were no midgets. Pissed off.
That's what he said. Come here.
Is that true? I, I don't, I don't, I actually
don't remember that if they are,but yeah.
OK, like, like it's bad medicineor something.
I don't know, man. That's what you know.
Jamie, Yeah. I know, Jamie.
(29:49):
I mean, he could say something and just make it up and you
believe it, no? Golly, Jamie.
How he says that Rodgers like, oh, I know, Jamie, but how were
those wild? Those, those were good.
Some of them were, some of them were really good and some of
(30:11):
them were not good. And I it was, it was different
as because at that time, at thattime, the reservations had
nothing to do. Nothing.
At least they got, I think they got casinos and stuff now.
Yeah, they finally, you know, but they had nothing.
And it was it was horrible out there.
I said I felt so sorry for them people.
(30:32):
And I said, because, you know, they had the whole country and
then there they are. They're stuck in the little
places that, you know, it was horrible.
And then but I said, yeah, they would just come to them.
They have a little, every littleIndian Reservation, they had
some kind of little Community Center and they would, they
would pack them out because there's, like I said, there's
nothing to do. Right, right.
(30:53):
You know. And now a word from our sponsor.

Thursday, wherever you listen topodcasts.
How far out did you all go? Do you remember?
All the way to. Idaho, OK, OK.
Gotcha. Yeah.
And man, I'm just, I wish I could see some of these on tape.
Man, These are, you know, interesting ideas for matches to
(32:07):
go out in Wild West tours. I love that.
It's almost like Buffalo Bill orsomething, you know, it makes me
think of that and, you know, but.
I said they all had got hooked up with a couple of, you know,
reservations and they say no, they're they're telling, you
know, these all these other reservations, what what we had
done and what, you know, people we've brought in and we started
we going after like every other month.
(32:29):
Yeah, one time. Gotcha.
That's awesome. That's awesome.
Yeah, very cool. And Dale Mann, what a character,
right. I mean, if you.
Yeah, he's, he's definitely a character.
I like Dale, but oh, he, he, he,you know, yeah, I don't know.
He. Yeah, understand.
(32:51):
All right, so WWE 19 or I guess WWF at the time 1994 Survivor
Series versus Lawler's Royal Court.
You portrayed wink and came out with like doink and dink and
pink. How did how did that gig come
about for you? Jerry Lawler, Jerry Lawler.
OK, that's what a figure, but itjust.
(33:13):
Worked Memphis many times and you know, and you know, that's
not I mean, it's it's a good place to get, I guess some
recognition, but it's not a great at that time it wasn't the
money wasn't good because, you know, that's all you got a lot
of miles going from here. You know, you go to Memphis
twice a week, you know, and thenother places and that the money
was decent at times and at timesit wasn't.
(33:35):
So I guess, you know, I was homeone day and then Lawler called.
He's like, well, actually Randy Hales calling me said Lawler was
talk to you. And I thought, Oh my God.
What? So I got on the phone with him
and he's like, hey, man, we got we got this idea.
And I was like, he was telling me and telling me.
And I said, OK, that sounds good.
He said, OK. He said, yo, you want to do it?
(33:56):
I said, well, yeah. He said, OK, give me give us a
couple hours. He said, someone want to call
you and get your you got somebody they can measure?
Yeah. I said, yeah, I can get somebody
here to measure me. And she said they'll they'll
call and get all your measurements so they can start
working on the outfit. I said, OK, that's what happened
so. That's awesome.
That's how was Matt Bourne to hang out with.
(34:18):
We didn't have Matt Moore. We had.
Was it Steve Kerr? Phil Apollo.
Yeah. Great Apollo.
OK, got it. Yeah, but Apollo.
But I I had went on the overseastour with Matt Bourne.
Oh, OK, OK, well. That so.
Yeah, so and was he working Doink overseas?
(34:40):
No, he was. We was in South Africa and he
just worked with Matt Bourne, you know.
OK, OK, gotcha. I know he worked kind of as that
clown afterward or something like that too.
Yeah, that evil looking just. Yeah, like evil looking.
Do I mean like Doink without maybe just like a little face
paint or something like that? But.
So, yeah, so I know that Dink was Tiger Jackson, right?
(35:03):
That was who he was, who was pink.
He was a guy named Rick, and I have no idea who he was.
OK, I think him and I think, I think him and Louie and when all
them, they all lived in Massachusetts in that area,
Yeah, you know. OK, I read a little review about
U3 online and it was like, you can tell that Wink and Dink were
(35:27):
more, you know, capable in the ring than Pink.
Apparently, Pink was not the greatest wrestler.
But yeah, he, I think he was, I think he was pretty green at the
time. And then he was young and just,
you know, yeah. Yeah.
And did you, I mean, this is just a dumb question.
Who were the guys that worked for Lawler with Lawler?
Did you know them at all? Look, no, I didn't know.
(35:48):
I didn't know none of them when I got there.
Louie. I don't know if you know who
Louie was. Little Louie.
Not off the top of the head. He worked, I think him and Tiger
had worked a bunch together. OK, God.
And there was one named Larry from Pittsburgh.
And then I don't, I can't remember the other guy's name.
Gotcha. Was it really just a one shot
(36:11):
kind of deal or were there more opportunities available?
Did you ever get to go back up there with them?
We we did the Survivor Series and then we did the East Coast
House shows and then we did the West Coast House shows.
OK, OK. So how was that?
That was great. I got to work.
Madison Square Garden. That was the probably the
biggest drill of my life. Dude, that's awesome.
(36:34):
That's the, that's the real Mecca, right?
I mean, I know the fairgrounds are, you know, the Mecca.
You know, you work the fairgrounds and then the
Coliseum both. You know when you you grow up
being a Memphis fan, that's, that's what you want to rest.
Oh yeah, right, right. And then, but I was sitting in
the dressing room. I'm back there taking my makeup
off of Madison Square, and I'm sitting in the dressing room and
(36:55):
I was just stopping myself. I just wrestled in Madison
Square Garden. What I mean, who else can say?
I mean, you know what I mean? That's huge, man.
That's the greatest wrestling building of all time.
Maybe you know so. I just kept thinking, I just
wrestled on Madison Square Garden.
A little kid from grown up kid from Westmoreland, TN, A little
(37:17):
bitty spotter is in Madison Square Garden, you know, Yeah,
so. Did you?
Yeah, go for it. So you said you got to do the
East Coast and West Coast. OK.
After that was over, did they ask you to turn in the the
gimmick or they tell you you could keep it or what was the
deal with that? I.
(37:38):
Kept I kept it. They didn't never didn't say
nothing. I still have it so.
Really. Yep.
Man, I did a. Phone gimmick.
So didn't you with that gimmick?Yeah, a little bit.
You know, at times I would still, you know, get out there
and push them and sometimes I wouldn't because I I did that,
you know, down like for what's Freddy mortgage town, Columbia,
(38:02):
Columbia, I think, I think I worked Columbia for him because
that Gimme. There's a couple of other little
towns down through there. I just, I just hated doing the
makeup. I bet, I bet.
That's brutal, man. Yeah, yeah.
So Rodger, how was like the, youknow, you know, not specifics
exactly, but like, was the pay good?
(38:24):
And was like the cater? I've always heard like from
people we've had on in the past, like the catering when you go to
like WWE was like amazing compared to anything else you'd
ever seen. Oh yeah.
You know, you do TV tapings and stuff, they want you there like,
you know, at noon and the TV don't start till 7.
So you got 7 hours to do nothing, you know, except, you
(38:45):
know, I had to get makeup on. But other than that, that was
it. You know, you're just sitting
around all afternoon and yeah. They had a pretty good spread.
Right, Yeah, they got a pretty good spread and this was this
was in 94 that was during the the down years, so.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, and did you get to talk
(39:05):
to Vince at all? I mean, were you, did you get to
talk to him? Just just just him passing, he
would stop and ask how you doing, how you know, you know,
this and this and he would just and just walk on.
But he wasn't a rude guy. He was just, you know, one of
the guys that was, you know, buthe was always nice and it was
rude. I said he'd always ask me how he
(39:26):
was and stuff like that. Just keep walking, you know,
and. Yeah, yeah.
Hey Roger, so who who did y'all deal with then mostly was it was
it Pat Patterson or who who who did since you said you?
Dave, Dave Hitler. I think it was most time our
agent, OK, OK, because we alwayshad Earl's usually as the
(39:47):
referee so. Gotcha.
And and this this question meansno disrespect to the king of
wrestling, but was it different to see, because I've known
Jerry, the king Lawler, right? He's king.
He's the boss in Memphis, right? But he's almost kind of the
opposite of that. And he's almost been like.
(40:07):
The butt of their joke in WWE atcertain times.
Did you see a difference in The King as far as backstage at at
Memphis to backstage at WWE? Yeah, yeah.
Because backstage in the WWF, hewas just one of the boys, you
know, Right. Yeah, right.
But you didn't get to see him a lot because at that time he was
doing, we were doing them TV taping.
(40:28):
He was on the common tape team so you wouldn't see a whole lot.
Gotcha. OK, OK.
To me, yeah, him and Vince at one time was the best
commentating team we had. They had, because I agree, I
said he was the butt. He was the butt of the jokes,
right? Yeah.
Right. Yeah, yeah, no, that's a great
point. You know, I I do, you know, I
always like to. When Jesse the body and and
(40:51):
Vince were together too. I always enjoyed that, you know,
and then you had Bobby and and Gorilla, but yeah, yeah.
And then of course everybody thinks of King and Jr.
But you're right. King and Vince were a great team
there for a while, man, you know, because he he let King
kind of go out there a little bit where and I guess King
really kind of replaced Bobby the brain basically.
(41:13):
So. But anyway, yeah.
Hey, my name is Tammy Reynolds. I am the wife of Forsaken Rick
Reynolds, that super cool guy that everybody knows and loves,
and I represent West Side Sauces.
I make sauces, I bottle them, I seal them, I sell them.
(41:35):
I have a hot honey sauce, I havea sweet sauce, I have a hot
sauce. I have a white sauce that's so
yummy you can use it on everything.
They are absolutely amazing and I'm so proud of them.
We make them from scratch. So go on our website
westsidesauces.com, check out our products, read about our
(41:58):
story and go online and order you some of these yummy sauces.
And Rick actually uses all of the sauces because he is a die
hard smoker and griller and so he likes really good sauces and
rubs and I make them. So how convenient is that for
him? Go on our website
(42:19):
westsidesauces.com. Order you some samples and I
think you'll thoroughly enjoy them.
Thank you guys, be blessed. Well, I've been thinking about
how to ask this question, this next one here, and this one was
(42:39):
told to me by a good friend of the show, Shane Morton.
And so I'm going to lead you into it.
But, but I guess let's start with this.
So why did Cousin Junior have toshave his beard?
Do you know who I'm talking about, Cousin Junior?
Yeah, Atlantic King. He worked.
(43:00):
He he got started with Dale Mann.
Yeah, yeah, and apparently therewas a lady of the night.
Possibly that maybe caused his beard to need to be shaved.
Any of that come coming back? Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.
(43:21):
I, I think I know what you're getting at now.
Yeah, one, one night we were, and I'm pretty sure we was out
West. OK, I walk into the, the hotel
room, Somebody said Landy said come down to the hotel room or
come down to his room. I said, OK, I go down there and
there is, I guess I could say this, you know, there's three or
(43:42):
four guys. OK.
On one-on-one, Lady of the night.
OK. And every one of them caught a
crawling insect. Oh my God.
And I guess Lanny had had them in his beard everywhere.
(44:02):
Oh man. Jeez Louise.
Yeah. She came and come on in.
I was like, hell no, no, she was.
She was a big old girl. Big.
Girl, plenty of space. One boob on one boob she had
(44:22):
sweet, the tattoo sweet, and theother one on the Edison sour.
All right. Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh. Well, OK, so apparently it
caused poor cousin Junior to have to shave his beard, though,
is that correct? And that that was part of his
(44:43):
whole gimmick, right? I mean, he was, you know, a
hillbilly man. So, you know, he got to have the
beard. I guess he had good testosterone
because it didn't take long where it grew, it grew back
pretty quick. So, OK, it came back in.
Yeah, Yeah, he's one of those guys.
I get it. Yeah.
Well, you know, I do want to kind of lead into because maybe
(45:05):
I was told that, you know, the one that sounded the alarm was
was was Midget D was Danny. He said, hey, he's got crabs.
No, no, no, no, this is this is the funny part.
They are all of them there for them.
(45:26):
And then I don't know what Dannykept playing with her boobs.
OK, and she's on, she's on all four.
OK. And every once in a while I, I
was just standing, sitting therewatching.
They was standing there watchingand I was going to stay there
long. And finally I, Lanny hollered.
Hey, quit touching my balls. Oh my gosh, I guess he was
(45:58):
playing. I guess he was playing with her
boobs and his hand kept whatever.
I don't me and I'll tell you. And this is this is somebody I'm
trying to look for. I actually find Ronnie Travis.
Anybody know Ronnie Travis? Oh yeah.
Ben Jordan knows where he is. He can find him for you.
(46:18):
I can get. You.
Yeah. I have been looking for Ronnie
Travis for 20 years. Yeah, yeah.
He lives over near Ben and up there where Ben lives.
So we can definitely get you. Done.
Me and Ronnie was just dying. We were sitting there watching
it was standing away and we would just die laughing.
And but the crazy part of it is they thought they picked her up
(46:40):
and they picked her up at a bar or something.
I don't know. When they get back after they
get done, she jumps up, says I need $20 from every one of you.
So he's like, OK, so I don't. I don't think Lanny paid or
anything. Lanny was like Nail now.
So when the next morning they all woke up with insects?
(47:06):
What a horrible way to deal withthat, man, oh man.
It's the it's the, it's the giftthat keeps on giving, right?
That's. Yeah, they get keep on giving
all right. So, so do you, Do you have any
funny other that? That one's great, but do you
(47:28):
have any other funny Danny stories?
Yeah, I mean, and George, George, wine drop, we was in
South Africa and George was there with that.
This guy, I can't remember what his name was.
He was from, he was actually from England I think, and he
moved to South Africa. He had a really nice house and
we went over to, yeah, I was in the house, I'm pretty sure.
(47:51):
And we had went over to his house for one night.
He said just come over, we'll have a party.
And so, you know, we're just drinking and stuff.
And then all at once they was like, hey daddy, you ever had
the referee's test? Anybody know what the referee's
test is? We will You stand sideways,
point your arm out, try to they try to direct you into a spot on
(48:12):
the wall. I think so, yeah.
Yeah, I've seen that. Well, they did that, Little
Daddy said. I'll do that.
Then somebody gets right in front of the spot, pulls their
butt cheeks apart. But he did he's he was a goofy
did like 3 times. He's like, y'all not gonna do it
(48:33):
to me this time. And I'm like, no, no, we're
never this the regular test. This time we were dying
laughing. He's like and every time he's a
quart low, but yeah. George was there.
(48:57):
He was. And he was just guy laughing at
him so. Yeah, yeah.
Well, so the first time I'd everheard that rib was from Jerry
Calhoun. So once you said the other part
of it, I was like, OK, now I know why it's called the referee
test too, because they they, they did it to Jerry Calhoun
too. That's so funny, man.
Oh my gosh. That's supposed to be if you're,
(49:21):
if you're a good referee, you can follow instructions, you
know, Right, right. They always used to say and then
that's that's the way it ended up.
You know, we was just, I thought, Oh my gosh.
Throw that little surprise on it.
Yeah. And this guy who had he had the
guy who we was housing was that he had took a Krugerrand, which
(49:41):
is 1/4 ounce real gold. Yeah.
South African, yeah, yeah. And he had super glued it to the
floor of his patio and he was standing there to watch because
people wouldn't see it and they'd look, look around, look
around and they'd try to pick itup and they would just super
(50:01):
glued A Kruger ran to your floorthough, dude, it's a.
Lot of money, just super glue. I've heard Jimmy Valiant still
trying to peel that up. Never mind.
Marcella the Gimmick 1. No, that was the rib, right?
They would get Jimmy. They would, somebody would super
(50:22):
glue 1/4 to the floor and Jimmy Valiant would do anything to get
that thing off the floor. I've heard that story, man.
So. That was surprising.
I said Jimmy Valiant is on, and after I finally met him, he was
the only person I don't considerit's a gimmick table all night
long. And I'm like, dude.
Yeah, that's how I eat, baby. Yeah.
(50:42):
Yeah. You know, you got to love Jimmy,
man. He's he's one of those old
school guys that you don't see alot of anymore, you know what I
mean? Well, great guy, actually.
Yeah, it's just like I said, it's just just just him.
