(00:20):
with PG13 to his time in WWEECWWCWTNA and more.
Nothing is off limits and nothing will be held back.
Thanks again for tuning in. Here he is.
Wolfie D. Welcome, welcome, welcome once
again to live and in color with Wolfie D and my man Jimmy across
(00:41):
the screen. What up dude?
What's up man, How you doing? I'm doing all right man.
I've had better weeks though. Yeah, I know.
I mean, I know I've talked to you a little bit about it, but I
live here in this little town where it's, it's Keystone Cops,
bro. It's Keystone Cops.
Yeah, that sucks. You know, I got my MRI results
(01:03):
back. Well, let's see.
I had the MRI two days after what I'm fixing to tell you.
Well, you've already heard it tothe listeners.
But then four days later I got the results.
So I've got a, the long head of my bicep is torn away from my
shoulder. I've got a horn rotator cuff in
two different spots. I've got tendonitis, I've got
(01:26):
tendonosis and I've also got Bursitis, all in the shoulder
joint there. That's I don't think can you
have any more stuff than that. I mean you could try.
But I don't. I mean, I don't think you can.
I mean, I honestly, I can't. I can't lift my arm out to the
side. There's certain ways I can go
like I could, I could go straight forward a little bit.
I can kind of go backwards, but I can't.
(01:47):
Like if I was trying to do a side ladder, I can't go out.
Yeah, pops and it hurts. And yeah, I got a little sling I
put on it every now and then. But I don't want to do that
because I'm right-handed, bro, I'm right-handed.
Yeah, that's the hard part, man.And let me tell you, man, when I
had my had my tricep surgery, that was a real learning
experience for what my left handcan't do.
(02:11):
Yeah. And let me tell you what my left
hand can't do. The the worst thing my left hand
can't do. Think about it.
What? What?
What would it be you think? Punch, maybe or.
No, no, I mean my left hand could probably punch a little
bit, but I mean seriously think about this now.
I mean feeding myself was not easy.
(02:33):
Brushing my teeth, I'm serious. My left hand is like retarded.
I think we're in a new world nowwhere we're not woke anymore.
So I can say that my left hand'sretarded.
So what would be the worst thingon your non dominant hand that
you could do? Jerk in the wing, man.
No, that's like a new chick. Come on, That's like not even a
(02:56):
bad thing. That's so true.
Spell it. Out for you.
I guess I have to spell it out for you.
Yeah, spell. It wiping your ass.
Oh my God. Wiping your asshole with your
left hand is a very intimidating, scary thing.
I mean, it's just not you. You, you just don't have much
(03:17):
control over that. And so you're either.
Yeah. I mean, think about it.
I. Can now wow.
Well, I dare you, I dare you thenext time you take a shit, wipe
with your left hand. You want me to right now, See.
Just so we can, yeah. Yeah, I'd like for you to do it.
If we can get that on tape, that'd be great.
That'd be great podcasting. I wanted to say radio, but be
(03:37):
great podcasting. Right, because you're, you know,
you spent like 50 years perfecting the right hand
technique, perfecting. It 50.
Years. 50 years of perfecting. It ever, ever, ever, with the
exception of when I, you know, tore the tricep, didn't have use
of the the right arm for 10 weeks, 10 weeks out of 50,
almost one years now. I'll be 51 here in like a week
(04:00):
or so. But yeah, so I, I've never wiped
my ass with my left hand except for those 10 weeks.
And it was, it was disastrous. I didn't like it.
It was scary. I kept thinking, you know, I, I,
yes. What?
Dude, you don't even understand. And I swear to you and the
listeners, if you're right-handed, wipe your ass next
(04:21):
time you shit with your left hand and see what you can do.
I mean, I'm gonna just for this, just for the.
Will, I think, I think you're. I'll try it and I'll let you
know. I'll give you a full report on
next episode. I'm positive I will do that my
next. Step but yeah, so so anyway,
(04:42):
here's the other thing man, is that I'm in Walmart.
I don't know, I forget the date.It was on a Sunday night not too
long ago. And so I got the the problem
with the arm already where I can't wipe my ass.
I can wipe my ass right now. I can't until we have surgery,
and that's what they're telling me.
I need surgery, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
(05:02):
Anyway, this certain person, notgoing to say names because I
don't get in trouble for any of this.
Yeah, that has sent me messages and all this kind of stuff.
I just have to bump into them atWalmart and, you know, just
walked up and hey, man, you got something to say to me.
And you know them owls are like tight, you know what I mean?
(05:23):
The new Walmart. What the heck, Walmart?
Like seriously. You barely get 2 carts through
there. Yeah.
And so anyway with with no. Arm.
Reaction. I'm not.
I'm not going there to fight somebody.
I just wanted to tell this person they were doing things to
my family that I didn't like. Sure.
(05:45):
So anyway, walk up, brother's girlfriend comes in between and
starts pushing on me and starts like holding my arms down, you
know one of them don't can't raise up, the other one's my
left hand and hell I can't do much with that anyway.
So then brother shoves me, brother shows me, brother shoves
me up against the the merchandise rack there, and
(06:07):
hell, I tried to come back but Istill got this bitch on me.
Can't give arm up. I couldn't swing if I wanted to,
couldn't swing it for one. So then he comes over top of
her, BAM, hits me, bam. This is so funny because boom
hits me and you know I'm on blood thinners because of the
heart problems and all that kindof stuff.
So it don't take. And if I bleed, I'm bleeding,
(06:29):
right? Caught me a couple of times
because the girl wouldn't let goof me and I couldn't defend
myself even if I could, I couldn't really swing back, you
know, with the right arm or whatever.
So I'm telling everybody this just just to let them know.
And there's some people that canread between the lines on who
this person is and what a piece of shit this motherfucker is.
(06:51):
And anyway, so the Long story short is I'm sitting there
leaking everywhere. I got to cut on the back of my
head, my forehead, my nose and my lip.
I got to go to the emergency room.
Not because I'm so fucked up that he, you know, he beat me up
so bad. He didn't like, knock me out or
knock me down or anything like that.
The only thing was I hit my headon the ground because the bitch
(07:14):
tripped me and let him push me down to the ground.
So anyway, yeah, my lip wouldn'tstop bleeding.
I, I, I went and bought some liquid stuff to try to, you
know, get it to shut and it wouldn't.
Anyway, go to the emergency roomfor that and they did a little
gimmick on it. What what they got there and and
(07:36):
and got my lips shut because it,you know, like I said, the blood
thinners. I just if I start bleeding, I'm
bleeding. Yeah, it's not a good sign, so.
Anyway, the cops came and all this shit and I'm fucking I'm,
I'm dude, it was, it's like Texas deathmatch.
I'm bleeding everywhere, man. I never even got a shot off
because like I said, the girl was grabbing me and you know, he
(07:59):
hit me over the top and you know, whatever man, whatever did
not react, wasn't great punches.I just I bleed easy.
Yeah, that sucks bro. It does suck.
It does suck. But the cops came and all this
kind of shit, but then when theywent to him, oh, he tried to hit
me first. Yeah.
(08:20):
So I'm going to with a known shoulder problem, can't raise my
arm up, I'm gonna go fucking swing on you, right?
Because I can't swing. But that, that makes a lot of
sense, right? And you know what?
You said something to me when wetalked about this earlier, is
the way I look and the way he looked.
Right, right, the. County Attorney called me and,
and hey, y'all, if you're in Somerset and you want to go
(08:43):
steal something, go to the betting aisle, the betting aisle
because there's no, there's no camera footage.
That's what they said. There's no camera footage there,
and they couldn't decipher who started it, even though at the
end people were there and they were like, no, this dude was
fucking, you know, hitting this guy and you know, blah, blah,
blah. Yeah, yeah.
(09:04):
Go to the betting aisle in Somerset.
If you need some new sheets or anything like that, go there.
I'm serious. I'm gonna stick.
Him in your pocketbook? Yeah.
Yeah, go do that because as if. Our listeners have pocketbooks,
but yeah. Go get you a yeah, a, a new set
of sheets or something, because they ain't going to be able to
prove nothing is what I found out.
(09:26):
And then, and then he goes down and, oh, he swung on me.
And so I talked to the County Attorney.
I think we said this, but he's like, well, there's no.
Evidence blah blah blah. So if I if I charge you, I got
to charge him too and I'll just charge both of you And I'm like,
are you fucking serious? This is some E on cop backwoods
(09:49):
ass motherfucking shit man. Old good old boy system is is
alive and well, yeah. It very much is, and the brother
has got I'm not sure how many assault charges against his
ex-wife most of the time. And his kids.
Yeah, he's been arrested a number of times for this type of
shit, but Oh, yeah, he didn't start this one, but OK, all
(10:13):
right. And I'm fixing to be scheduled
for surgery on my shoulder. So yeah, whatever, man whatever.
Hopefully I took one for the team.
I don't know, it was a there's aorder, protection out and all
this kind of bullshit. Not again, not against me.
I don't give a fuck. You can come back at me again.
Whatever. Hopefully for for this person
(10:33):
and her child that they're gonnahave, you know, safety from him.
But again, we went to court thismorning that just sounded like
they're all sucking each other'scocks.
But anyway, thinking about her, I'm talking about the judge, the
lawyer, and this fucking prick that thinks he was a wrestler.
But anyway, we won't go no further into that and we will go
(10:55):
into Ricky Santana. This is a great interview.
I can't wait. Yeah, Ricky's done a lot of
stuff. You know, he's buddies with our
old buddy Fidel Ciera, trained with Bob Cook and all those guys
down in the Molinkos. Lots of stuff to talk to.
Man, I can't wait. Of course, this is another
hookup by our homie, Captain Nick.
And. He's the man dude.
(11:15):
We appreciate you And and by theway, go to Facebook, follow
captains Corner right now. He's got all kinds of cool stuff
he's got planned coming up and stuff.

this stuff. You're.
Saying I mean color. With him.
(11:38):
Yeah, live and in color Live podcast.
How many times have I said that,Wolfie?
And nobody wants to bite, man. Well, let's do it.
Let's just do it. Let's just do.
It fuck it. That's right.
That's it. All right.
Well, you want to get Ricky on? That's the important part,
right? Yes.
(11:58):
Sir, this is going to be good, man.
I mean, like I said, I don't, I've never met Ricky.
Or wait a minute, I think I did in Puerto Rico like I did.

You survived the commercial break.
As always, we appreciate you tuning in today.
We have someone. Who I crossed paths.
(13:02):
With down in Puerto Rico didn't get to, you know, really sit
down and talk and work with eachother on a normal basis.
But we have met each other and Ithat's cool.
I thought so, but I wasn't for sure.
So guys, I, I just want to go ahead and introduce and Jenny, I
want you to go over the the specifics on the Portland Expo
that they're having. And, and Captain Nick is the one
that brought us Ricky Santana. How you doing today my man?
(13:26):
I'm doing good. How about you?
Everything good? Doing pretty good, doing pretty
good. Been a crappy week, but I'm over
it now and we're getting on withthis show.
I had to cancel you twice because of had some shit going
on, but yeah, man, it's all good.
You're going to be doing a an Expo in Portland, kind of a
reuniting of a bunch of you guysup there, Jimmy.
(13:46):
Well, give them the specifics real quick and then we'll let
we'll let Ricky talk about it. Yeah, so it's the Portland
Wrestling Expo, February 22nd, 2025 at the Holiday Inn Portland
Airport. That's 8439 Northeast Columbia
Court, Portland, OR. Be there or miss out on a great
time, Rick, you'll be there. Yeah, Ricky, what do you think
(14:07):
about that? Is that pretty cool?
I think it's a, it's a great thing.
I mean, I worked out in the the Northwest Territory for Don Owen
on many different occasions throughout the the 80s and the
90s. Last time I was out in in that
territory right before it closeddown like all the other
territories in 1991. And, you know, I always had good
(14:30):
memories. The fans were always unique and
special because, you know, they didn't care what was going on
around with WCW or WWF at the time or WWE.
They were loyal to, to Don Owens, you know, Portland
wrestling. You know, I, I was simply
amazed, you know, how loyal theywere to those, to those
(14:51):
wrestlers that went through and,you know, the the who's who has
worked in Portland territory at one point or another.
Yeah. For sure, there's a lot of
command and, and people like I obviously never wrestled
Portland, but like a lot of people that I know did Steve
Dahl, Rex King, you know, peoplelike that.
Both of them are great. And I, I was talking the last
(15:13):
interview we had with Lynn Denton Grappler.
He when we brought up talking about somebody that was in
Portland, there was a big name in Portland.
And now we kind of know what's happened to him.
He's incarcerated. But Billy Jack, man, Billy Jack.
It's like I told Lenny, I said when I met him, and that was in
like 9596, he came through Memphis for a little bit.
I just thought anybody that looks like him and as big as
(15:35):
him, it lasts like that. Something wrong with that dude
man. Lord, Lord, Lord he was.
A. Bird man, Yeah, he was a unique
creature for sure. I went out there and made the
mistake to go to work for his OWS.
You know, when I think about it,yeah, looking back, you know, I
(15:58):
look back at it and I go, man, he tried to open that territory
in the summertime. And if you know anything about
the Northwest, that's the only three months they get to be out
of the rain, the speed of the snow.
So worst time to pick it, you know, But I figured I'd give it
a try. He had the right concept.
But, you know, after a couple ofweeks, I just said, you know
what, this ain't working for me.Let me just head back on down to
(16:21):
Florida and then eventually headed back out there because
you know, Tom Gun, my buddy Cube, he he talked to Don Owens
to let me come back, you know, and Don let me know that I made
a mistake. I remember first coming back
into that locker room. You know, he went over after I
had spoken to him and he said come here and he got everybody
(16:43):
together. You know, look at this dumb son
of a bitch right here. He had that ball to run
opposition to me with that fucker Billy Jack.
And you're probably wondering, yeah, you're probably wondering
why I would bring him back. He said because he was mad
enough to come to my office and tell me that he had made a
(17:03):
mistake and I like the kid and he made me money, so I brought
him back. And then he looked over at me
and he said, but don't think that shit's going to happen
twice. And lifted at that.
You know, Don, Don was good to me.
I can't complain. So that's very cool.
So did you grow up in Florida? Is that where you came up at?
(17:24):
Well, most of it. I mean, I'm originally from New
York, so, you know, I moved downto Florida as a as a teenager
and I was exposed to like a bitch of wrestling from Florida,
so. That's what that's what got you.
The wrestling bug was Florida wrestling.
Yeah, when we first, you know, actually originally my dad used
to take me to the garden in in New York and, you know, used to
(17:49):
get the, you know, the WWWF circuit.
And then we moved to Florida andI said, well, how am I going to,
you know, kind of watch wrestling?
And at that time in Miami, before it became Univision, it
was a UHF station. And on Sundays, they had a full
hour block of wrestling that came from the Olympic in
California. It came from the Oklahoma, you
(18:13):
know, Central States territory. You had the Charlotte, which at
that time was all tag teams. And then the last one was
obviously Florida Championship Wrestling.
And I got, I got hooked and I, Itold Joe Briscoe, I said because
he was, you know, influential inhelping me out.
When I first was breaking in, I used to watch Gordon and he
(18:35):
talked about all these amateur, great amateur wrestlers like
Saeedo and Danny Hodge and Bob Loop and Obrisco's and this,
that's why I figured I had to bean amateur.
So I cut weight for almost 7 1/2years trying to make me between
high school and college, missingChristmas dinners and
Thanksgiving dinners because I thought you had to be great
(18:57):
amateur wrestler to get into thepro ranks.
And then I find out it's a work,you know?
And, and, and Jerry looked at mewith a real serious face and he
said, well, did you make it? I said, yeah, I made it.
And he goes, well, I guess that shit worked then.
And I just. And I'm like, all right, Jerry,
I'll leave it at that, buddy. I'll leave it at that.
You're so funny. Because Thanksgiving dinners.
(19:20):
That was kind of my thinking. Like I, I didn't start wrestling
in high school until 9th grade and I wrestled my 9th grade.
But that was my thinking was this is how I can be a wrestler
if I, if I do good at this and Ican be a wrestler.
And the next year, my sophomore year, halfway through the
wrestling season is when I met Gypsy Joe through another
(19:41):
person. And that's how I got in the
business at like 15 so that I just quit the wrestling team.
My my coach did like he was alsomy science teacher.
And so it kind of was a shitty, but anyway, Oh shit.
My wrestling coach was my biology teacher.
Really. This guy, he couldn't.
(20:04):
If you were not a dude and it was on the wrestling team, he
didn't like you. I mean, it's just the weirdest
thing. He just did not like you.
And yeah, Coach Wingo, he's a state champion there.
He's a little guy, but he's a state champion at our high
school. But at any rate, OK, so you
you're getting the bug there in him.
Florida. So who was your favorite
(20:25):
wrestler growing up? Well-being that I was in
Florida, obviously Jack Briscoe because of his amateur
background, everything else. But at this time, Dusty was a
heel. I love the fact that he was this
big guy, you know, didn't look like nobody else could talk on
the mic like nobody else. And then we were down at Miami
(20:47):
Beach because my dad would take me down to Miami Beach
Convention Center every Wednesday, and I saw him throw a
drop kick. And I looked at I got this guy
is a bad guy. He could throw a drop kick.
Shit, I like him, you know, and then they made him a baby face
and everything worked out and, and both those people were
instrumental in the development of my, my career over the years.
(21:11):
That's the and, and the Briscoesand the Funks, you know, they
were the ones that sent me to Japan.
So, you know, I had a lot of a lot of the people that I saw on
TV when I was a, you know, a young man helped me when I was
in the business to, you know, see the world in other words.
So I can't complain. So and you got trained at the by
(21:33):
the Malinkos, right? Yes, yes.
And that's. I assume your buddies with Bob
Cook, He got trained there too. Oh yeah.
Bob Cook, Norman Smiley, Al Perez, Gangrel.
Yeah, yeah. The list goes on on.
You could have in there and you were there.
(21:54):
Yeah. Telephone another one.
Yes, Absolutely. Yeah.
Yeah, that's so. How long did you train before
you had your first match? You know what, it wasn't very
long because I, I knew most of the, the moves myself, you know?
Yeah, a lot of the moves I, I knew how to do for being a fan,
obviously. But right, some of the moves to
(22:15):
me, I, you know, knew how to do them as a shoot, you know?
Right, right, right. It was, it was a little
different. But you know, Boris, the great
Molinko, you know, he said, you know, you're you're way ahead of
what you need to do. You know, we're having you on
the shows. You know, he ran his individual
independence in in different parts of the Tampa at the Boys
(22:37):
Club and Immokalee in different places.
So I got to that and got going and then, you know, had a break
to go. Do you know TV for WWF?
And you know, myself, Rusty Brooks, Corporal Kirschner, who
back then went as RT Reynolds and Joe Murdoch, who have played
for the Dolphins, who were that Florida crew that would come up
(23:00):
and they'd always use us. And they, you know, in Florida
at TV's, you know, they put us around the loop a couple times.
And, you know, it was I was getting my my feet wet and, you
know, making a decent payday, you know, so that's what got me,
got me moving along. Who?
Who was your first match and how'd that go?
(23:21):
My first match was with actuallya guy who was a journeyman for
the Florida office. His name was Steve Brody and I
remember he he called the international 1 Taco drop down.
Get it again, Right. So you got the Taco part down.
I got the drop down. I went to go get it again and I
(23:41):
froze like a beer in the headlights, kicked me in the
gut. Snap married me and said you
lost a kid. I said yeah man, I'm so sorry.
And I made a vow to myself neverto forget a finish or forget a
spot from that day forward because I look like a dumb ass,
right? They'll get it again.
(24:03):
I don't even know if anybody knows what that means anymore.
Oh, no, that's calling the ring.Is is a whole different story.
Yeah, the whole thing. 'S pretty much gone, yeah,
pretty that's. True.
Pretty much gone. So here's one that I want to
hear. You got to have a good Puerto
Rico story, man. What?
What was the craziest shit you ever saw in Puerto Rico or was a
part of you? Know well, I was a part of, you
(24:25):
know, I was there as a babyface for the longest time, right?
And they wanted to take a shot at me being a heel because I had
done a heel in Florida, I had done a heel in San Antonio and I
had a partner, Ray Gonzalez. And we were the, we were the,
the Puerto Rican version of a, let's say a Rock'n'roll Express
(24:47):
when it came to the ladies and, and, and everything else, you
know, so here I have ATV and we're going to do the big turn
ATV and I already parked my car out front because I already know
how the fans are. And I sit there and we milk it
and, you know, we get beat. And it was because we made a
(25:07):
mistake and yadda, yadda, take my time.
And all of a sudden I closed line.
I'm out of nowhere. My shit can.
I'm outside, I post him, he getsthe juice and I walk them over
to the crowd. And you know, the TV place, they
have that big metal railing between the crowd and the
people. And I said, this is your
superhero, let's see if he can fly.
(25:28):
And I threw him into the fans. And as I threw him into the
fans, I was going straight to the front door because that's
when my car was parked and there's only four security
guards. And as I'm walking out the
thing, there must have been 200 people out there throwing
punches. There's.
Only four of and there's only four of us.
(25:48):
So I don't know if you remember Victor Arroyo, he worked in the
office and was in charge of the security.
He said get in the TV truck, youknow, because we can't stop him.
So he getting in the TV truck and they break the windows out
of the TV truck and they're trying to.
Yeah. And they're trying to tip it.
And I remember Augustine Ramos, who was the producer, he said,
(26:09):
kid, I love you like a son, but I ain't going to die for you.
I'm going to hop out the back and I'm locking the door.
And I said, OK, all right. And they're telling me they're
calling me every name in the book.
And then the one guy said, you're dying tonight.
I'm thinking I'm standing. I'm standing inside this truck.
Let me lay down in case they decide to shoot into it, right?
(26:30):
Yeah. So I'm laying there and, you
know, waiting for the the SWAT team to come in.
And the SWAT team comes in thereand they clear everybody out.
They open the truck door and I'dget out and they were still
yelling. You know, you're a dead man.
You know, you're there. But that, that.
But that wasn't good enough. That Saturday, we're at the
baseball stadium and Ray is driving.
And I had this wild idea and I told Carlos about it.
(26:55):
I drove in through the outfield at the baseball stadium in a
Rent A Car parked up because thering would sit on top of the
pitchers now pulled up. I got out of the car.
I beat the shit out of the ring again.
I juiced them again. I got back in the car and drove
out. They were throwing bottles and
bricks, everything at the poor Rent a Car, you know.
So it really got heated for the longest time, you know, I had
(27:18):
some serious heat. But yeah, that was one of the
craziest things I've seen a lot of a lot of crazy stuff.
You know, even the first time I got to the island, I went to TV
and did you know the six shows that they had to do?
And I'm outside and I'm talking to the new fans and the ladies
and all that. And here comes two guys running
by shooting at each other. And I'm thinking what, the
helmet I signed up for. And the lady says, ah, that's
(27:40):
OK. That's that's just normal.
Just those are the, you know, the drug guys over there from
the from the hood, from the projects.
Jesus. I said, yeah, OK, all right, I'm
OK with this. Long as they ain't shooting at
me, I'm, I'm good. Yeah.
No shit. Right.
Yeah, that. Place is nuts.
It was still nuts, you know, from 94 when I was there.
And obviously the, you talk about the SWAT people when I,
(28:03):
when I did the icy hot thing andthen the, the dude pulled out
the gun and, and you know, the dressing rooms weren't connected
at that building. I guess it was the TV and and so
they weren't closed out the gun over there.
And the guy you were talking about, director of security guy,
I think that's the one that called the police, the SWAT
people. And me and Jamie look out there
and there's all them with Shields and all this shit
(28:24):
standing around there arena. And we're thinking if they were
there to get us, you know, because we done got one of their
guys and shit, but no, they was there to protect our asses.
They let you get out. Yes, they did.
They took us to the car. Yeah, that was nuts, man.
Jimmy. I'm going to roll across the
ring and I'm a hot tag you. All right, taking the hot tag
(28:48):
with Ricky Santana, or should I say Aldo Marino, maybe that.
Was the name that they gave me in in New York because they
already had a Santana and they already had a Ricky.
I was told that we don't need another one.
I went with the punches. I just wanted to get a payday.
Yeah, yeah. No, but I just remember you and
I, that's such an A nostalgic time of pro wrestling for me.
(29:13):
19858485 And and just listen to this Wolfie.
So like these are the guys he was working here.
So Bret Hart, the Free Birds, the Moon Dogs, Greg Valentine,
Bob Orton, Nikolai and the Chic, the Heenan family, Big John
Stud, Ken Patera, Renee Goulet, Bob Orton, magnificent Morocco,
(29:34):
George Steele, King Kong Bundy, Burdus beef, seriously, right?
Jesse Ventura. But the one thing that I noticed
during that time, Aldo, that's really and I mean, again, that
is like the cartoon era. This is my childhood right here.
But I noticed that on, let's see, March 16th of 85, it says
(29:56):
you were defeated, I'm so sorry to say, by Les Thornton.
And this was WWF Georgia Championship Wrestling.
So you were around when that happened?
Oh, yeah. When, when they had that
infamous Saturday where Vince could come in there and TBS was
now. Yeah, yeah, TBS.
(30:16):
Yeah, it was in there. And I worked with Les Thornton,
who by by all accounts to me, hewould put me in, in, in holds
and reverse me out of holds on his own.
He was that good that, you know,I, I didn't, you know, or I
couldn't complain about it. You know, you know, we came up
from Florida, you know, getting paid good and everything else.
(30:38):
And yeah, I worked with a, with a who's who of, of, of the great
stars in that era when they werethe territories were being
bought up and everything else. And, and that was the main
reason that I was told I couldn't use either one of those
names because they already had Ricky, obviously Ricky
Steamboat. They had Santana, which was
Tito's. So being from Miami, 84 Marino's
(31:00):
in the Super Bowl, Gino tells me, well, you're going to be a
Marino. And they love that name, Aldo.
I mean, they had Montoya and Bogni and they yeah, they had a
a bunch of those. He says, then you look Italian
to me. I said, OK, whatever.
I mean, you want to, you know, whatever you guys want to do.
I just want to get experience and and believe me with all that
(31:23):
you mentioned Greg the hammer and it was kind of like a a rib
that they wanted me to do on Greg.
And Jerry comes up and Jerry says, can you do me a favor,
kid? You know, I'm I'm young.
Yeah, sure. Jerry, whatever.
And he said, you know, you got Valentine and I said, yeah.
And he said, you know, he does that big forearm.
I said, yeah. He says, just do me a favor, say
(31:43):
something sarcastic but not disrespectful to him when he's
out there. I want to see how he reacts.
All right, no big deal. We're in Poughkeepsie, you know,
and the rings upstairs and the locker rooms are downstairs.
So I'm up there and Greg leans back and he goes to hit me.
Boom. And I just looked up real
(32:03):
nonchalant, and I said, that's it.
Oh my God, you had a thought. I, you know, crucified him.
He hit me with about 10:15 in a row, you know, boom, boom, boom,
boom. Finished Figure 4.
You know, the enhancement gets out first and leaves a superstar
in there, you know, coming down the stairs.
And you could hear the feet coming down the stairs like
(32:24):
that. The bottom of the stairwell,
there's the Funks, there's the Briscoe, and there's Steamboat.
And I get to the bottom and Greg's right behind me, right?
And he's right there. And he goes, ah, he sees them
all down his dog. Kid, I knew you weren't that
stupid. I just want to know who put you
up to it. And I turned around and I just
(32:44):
said, I'm not at liberty to, youknow, tell you my sources walked
away. And, you know, Jerry, come up to
me. I guess he loved my response.
And he goes, I did, you know, you got potential, but you got
to hone your talent. You you're going to get lost in
the shuffle here because everybody of everybody's here
now. And jury, I, you know, I don't
(33:05):
have any family members. I don't have those kind of
connections. This is like the Bob back then,
you know, unless you do somebody, you weren't going
nowhere. And he said to me, he says,
well, Chavo Guerrero, senior just took the book in San
Antonio. Do you want to go to San
Antonio? I said yeah, so you know, here
you call me tomorrow at this time, you know, and don't be
late. And the whole thing ended up I
(33:26):
wanted up going to San Antonio working for travel.
Guerrero senior. So it all worked out on a rib.
So that's, that was the funny part to me, yeah.
My question is, did you, did youknow sell him, did you bump or
anything or you just said that to him?
No, he had me, you know, he had me in, in, in the in the rear
(33:46):
chin. And he, you know, he reared back
and he hit oh. Yeah, OK.
Yeah, that's. When I said it to him and then
he proceeded to give me the 900 million other ones, you know,
you know, and everyone kept keptcoming in harder and harder.
So I had to sell that obviously. But you know, that's another
thing. Do you even tell you another
one? Bob Orton, junior, We're in
(34:08):
Miami, and Chief Jay Strongbow'sthe the agent.
And he comes up and he goes, listen, you're working with
Bobby Orton and, you know, need about 8 or 9 minutes because
we're still waiting on some of the talent to get in.
I said, OK, so it's my hometown,right?
And I walk over and he goes, letme introduce you to Bobby.
And he comes over and Bobby goes, hey, yeah, he's says
(34:30):
you're going to be working with the kid, you know, take care of
him 8 or 9 minutes, you know, just hometown.
So I said to to Bob. I said, Bob, is there anything
special I need to know? And he was reading a book and he
looked up and he said, do you know my finish?
I said, yeah, secret clicks fromthe top.
You got a problem with it? I said no, Sir, I'll see you out
(34:52):
there. That was the extent of the
conversation. I go out and he backs me into
the corner and he says, she saysyou're a good kid.
You came from the Molenko schooland you know how to listen.
OK, let's tell you what, kid. I'm going to know you twice.
The third time I want you to duck feet out here.
I come hit toss arm, drag, drop kick, arm, drag, drop kick.
I'll blow a lie. You come to that Mexican diver.
(35:14):
Come around the pole. Got it, Let's go.
That's how fast he called the spot and I said, and I said OK,
And he went around the corner and he's shaking his finger at
me. He's going, yeah, Chief, what's
right? He says, come on out after me,
I'll cut you off. So I go out, He rolls in.
I roll in and gives me the elbow, grabs a rear chin lock.
(35:36):
And then I hear those infamous words, boring.
And I panic and I go, probably because I'm boring with it.
Probably. Look, there I goes.
Boring, boring, I'll show you boring.
And he leaned down. He says, kid, we ain't moving
for 10 minutes. We didn't move for 10 minutes.
And I'm like, OK. And then, you know, he milked it
(35:56):
up. Milked it up.
He gave me a big comeback. Go to the top and catch your
office. Get out of here.
And that's what we did. And then get to the back and we
went like almost 16 minutes. And chief was just like,
sideways, you know, what are youdoing?
And he goes, Chief, make up yourmind.
You told me to take care of the kid.
I took care of the kid. What the fuck you want want for
(36:16):
me, that was the end of that, you know?
I mean, what am I going to do? So, you know, when I went in and
got my CAC award about four years ago, Bobby was there and I
and I told that story. Or when I said boring, I show
you boring. We ain't moving for 10 minutes.
People knew, you know, he was incontrol.
(36:38):
He popped on it. But yeah.
And that was. The way it was, I mean, that's
what I was going to just say a minute ago, was I want to
explain that to the listeners that back then, if you started
chanting boring, we weren't going to do nothing because we
would show you boring until, youknow, we thought it was time to
do something. Because that was The thing is
don't get rabbit ears. Don't let the people control
(36:58):
your match. Well, Oh yeah, absolutely.
Y'all wonderful what goes on That's funny.
Let's. Take a quick timeout and get a
word from one of my dope ass sponsors and we'll be right back
with more live and in color withWolfie D.

The Portland Wrestling Expo on Saturday, February 22nd.
Be there. Man, and and right after you're
here with all these like legend or future legends, I should say,
at this time, then you go literally, like you said, you go
(38:31):
work for Chavo and San Antonio and then you are basically
married to. We love Paul Diamond on this
show. He's a great guy.
And Shawn Michaels, one of the greatest of all time.
Yeah. What's that other guy's name?
Yeah, Sean was 18. Yeah, I remember, I remember him
(38:53):
coming out and I and, you know, I, I knew that he had the
potential in the talent, you know, I was.
Just about to ask you because Wolfie hates that question.
Basically, I'm like, Wolfie, didyou think Randy Orton was going
to be famous? You know, that kind of stuff.
You know, people always ask him and he's like, I sometimes, I
don't know, maybe, but. Yeah, well, I mean, I I was on
(39:14):
Gerald and JB Elves and they asked me the same question,
right. And I said, yeah, he had some
potential in him and everything else.
But I also thought he was a prima Donna, you know, I mean,
that's I'm just being honest with you.
And you know, we, we worked around the loop with him.
We were doing the twin devil mask type of gimmick with Tony
(39:34):
Torres under the other hood maskwith me.
And, you know, it was it was just like we had to sometimes
pull T not so much with Paul, because I knew Paul from
Malenko, right? He was easy to work with And you
know, and it was me, Paul and tugboat his roommates, you know,
in a one bedroom apartment. You know how that is when you're
(39:56):
starting out, you you're a baloney blowout.
So, you know, it was it was one of those things that, you know,
we ended up popping the territory and then, you know,
things got changed around and everything else.
And luckily for me, I met Wahoo when he.
He came in for a shot and while he was booking in Florida and
San Antonio was done while told me to tell him to give me a call
(40:18):
when you're done here. And I did and I went to Florida.
So that's how I was back then. You know, he had he had a
different, different beast, you know, and I'm old school because
I was trained old school. But I understand new school
logic. You know, I understand all the
the different things and I make my own opinion and assessments
(40:38):
of what the business is and whatthey should do and you can take
it for what it's worth. And I try to help all the young
talent and make sure that they have longevity and in the
business as opposed to you know, one and done type of deals as I
call them. And you know, I've talked about
that a lot on here too, with theshelf life of a wrestler really
(40:59):
is, is not what it used to be. You ain't going to have no Ricky
Morton's and these guys, they'restill wrestling up into their
70s anymore. You're just not going to have
it, man. They're doing way too much.
And I mean, I've said it, 100 * 1,000,000 * a bump card's real,
man. A bump card is real.
Well, Gary Funk told me that don't waste through Sunny.
You only got so many in you, andwhen they run out, there's no
(41:22):
way to reboot. I believe it.
I believe the 100%, you know, because, you know, you. 20s.
Yeah. OK.
I could bump like, all night long. 30, you know, it's time
40s, you know, I got 7 in here, you know, let's make them.
Let's make them 7 count, you know.
(41:43):
Yeah. You know, so some of that stuff,
you know, is unnecessary. You know, you're just looking
for that. You know, this is awesome.
You know, chant or you deserve it.
Chant. No, but to me, I don't want to
be able to be heard. You earned it, you know, not
necessarily that I deserve it. You know, I earned it.
(42:03):
You know, I've sacrificed. And then a lot of the guys
sacrifice it. You know, all these guys with
backs and knee replacements and everything else.
You know, I go to the Legends lunch it every three months.
You're in Florida and you, you see the boys, we're all hot.
But you know, I mean, it's just the, you know, the nature, you
(42:24):
know what you signed up for, youknow what you were getting into
and you can't complain about it.That's just my theory on it.
I'm looking forward to the Portland deal because, you know,
obviously Led Benton, the grapple was out there.
I worked a lot with Lenny out there.
Mike Miller. Yeah.
He hated. Yeah, he hated not working with
(42:47):
me. He hated the gimmick matches
because my gimmick match out there was the Indian strap match
and Luke Brown, who was, you know, part of the Kentuckians
with Grizzly Smith. He'd love to see me wind up and
tag him heels with it. You know, he used to get off on
and I, I got so good at it that I can hit you with it and cut
you with, with a strap, you know, your skin.
(43:10):
And they would, and they would try to break mine and I
wouldn't, you know, I'd be red, but I wouldn't wealth up like
that, you know, And Mike couldn't understand it.
So I went, you know, first I started with with a Buddha.
I came Curtis's kid and I workedthrough him.
Then I went in the mic and then eventually the RIP and, you
know, moved on and then came back and was a baby face.
(43:33):
And then Roddy had the great idea to make us a heel tag team,
me and, and Curtis Thompson. So we became the the US mails
MALE because we deliver and we voted the tag team of the of the
Northwest in 1990, you know, andand it was a different type, you
know, and and looking at it and I get to see guys out there that
(43:55):
I haven't seen in a while. No Rati, she's on the on the
promotion and he came to Puerto Rico with, you know, just Simone
SWAT team. So, you know, I worked with him
and I worked with the Yoko down there too before, you know,
Rodney and you know, you see that then Ricky Vaughn, who was
out there in the northwest and became Lance Monterey.
(44:17):
That's where he's. Talking about me.
I'm gay. Yeah, yeah, He texted me other
day. I haven't seen you since South
Africa, you know, I mean, you see these people around you, you
see them all coming through. And then, you know, Moon Dog
Moretti, I work with him out there.
And you have, you know, obviously Top Gun, you know, my
old tag team partner too many years, you know, So it's good to
(44:39):
see us all there at one time, you know, and I, I guarantee you
when we all get together, we still going to feel like it was,
you know, 80s and the 90s and still talking shit like we used
to and just having a good time. So I'm, I'm looking forward to
it, you know, because you know, a lot of great memories out
there. You know, the towns were close
except for Medford. You know, you always have that
(45:01):
one town and territory. It's 8 to go to a long drive.
And you know, it's, it's, it's all part of the history of that
Northwest. And Don Owens was one of the
best payoff men in the business during the territory.
Ages. Him and Paul Bosch.
Him and Paul Bosch out of Houston, they, they paid the
(45:22):
money. So I'm looking forward to all of
that, you know, and when the captain asked me would I be
interested, it's an absolutely, you know, one of only a couple
guys to hold all their titles out there.
So I guess that's my claim to fame in the Northwest.
Yeah, definitely. Well, you know, somebody who's
kind of, and unfortunately, they, and I'm sure they would be
(45:42):
there if they were still with us.
And they've kind of become what's called like an Internet
darling. And yeah, I, I don't get to hear
enough about this guy, but everything I see from him,
especially when he was in A tag team with Eddie Guerrero.
Art Bar. Do you have any Art Bar stories?
Well, at first Art was a referee.
(46:04):
And. Art used to have a lot of my
matches and I had a young lady friend who would always go to
the matches and her dad was kindof connected and I had a cage
match with with RIP Oliver and RIP all of her, you know, under
(46:24):
the throat and all the usual stuff.
You know, take the title, typical storyline.
And she was hot because she wasn't smart.
You didn't smart nobody up that then.
And she was hot and she was screaming at the referee because
you didn't see it. And I just told her shut up
bitch, there wasn't the right thing to do to that particular
(46:47):
girl. She had a call me with dad.
She tells me what happened and that so and so is coming to make
sure that he understands that I'm not a bitch at this and the
other. And I walk in, I said, all
right, buddy, buddy, buddy, what'd you do, buddy?
I didn't know she I didn't know she was with you.
I said that's not a question of with me or not with me who she
(47:09):
knows. And I kind of explained it to
him. He goes, what do I do?
What do I do? And I go out there and apologize
to her and I'll follow up and I'll say, you know, call off the
goons, you know, one of those things.
And that's what he did. And he came back and he thanked
me for. And I said, because, you know, I
mean, you're just 18, bro. I want to see you around for a
(47:32):
while. You know, the hitman never
showed up. Well, no, she called him off.
She said, dad, it's OK. He apologized, took care of it.
And then the the dad, you know, thanked me for it.
He said, hey, you know, thank you for, you know, looking out
for my daughter. And I said, yeah, OK, I don't
want to end up in a pine box either, buddy.
But yeah, anyway, that was that. That was the deal.
(47:53):
And I said, aren't you just got to be careful because you don't
know who you're talking to and who's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs,
you know? And he said thank you, thank
you, you know, give him a littlelife lesson, you know, in life.
But we always kept in touch, youknow, and, and, you know,
untimely passing that he had, especially when he was doing
that, that good run with, with Eddie.
(48:14):
Another one that my, my daughter's took really, really
hard when we lost Eddie, becausewhen we were in together in WCW
and everything, we'd be in Florida, you know, we'd stay
with me. And, you know, he loves Spanish
food, you know, so the missus would cook for him all the time.
And, you know, my daughters were, you know, they were young
at the time. They were like 4:00 and 5:00
(48:35):
with, with Eddie. And, you know, they're in their
30s now. But they took it really, really
hard because he was so loved at the house, you know, all the
roads. I mean that that whole family,
you know, I see Hector all the time, you know, and, and I
communicate with them. But you know, they taught me a
lot about about the business, you know, especially going to
Mexico. They taught me about that too.
(48:55):
Yeah, well, you know, if we're going to talk about another
person, we got to talk about Fidel, man.
I would, you know, we've had himon the show before and you know,
he he he's like I told him he was the Forrest Gump of pro
wrestling because he's been everywhere and every place.
And you're the same way, man. You know what I mean?
You guys are just talk about your buddy because Fidel was
(49:17):
hilarious, man. He was funny.
Well. I I don't know, did he tell you
the story how we met in in the ring in Florida?
I. Don't think so.
Yeah, I'm. Trying to remember.
So it's TV and I see my name up there and it says Cuban
Assassin, right? So I said OK, all right.
So I get out to the ring and I'mwaiting for.
(49:38):
He comes out and he's got the fatigue and he, you know, I said
what? He looks like Fidel, but I
wonder if he's really Cuban, youknow, because, you know, back
then, you know, you everybody was a gimmick, you know, I mean,
Ivan wasn't really rushing and, you know, and, and all that
other, you know, stuff that goeson.
So he ties up and I'm thinking, I say he looks Mexican to me.
(50:00):
So he ties up and he goes, give me an arm drag, you know, so I
give a Mexican arm drag, you know, that one knee, flip it and
he gets up and he goes, what thehell is that?
You know, he ties up and, you know, we're sure we're working,
you know, and he was coming through because he was on his
way to Japan. So I get out and we're going to
(50:21):
Miami Beach that night after TV because that was a normal
schedule. And he given me the finish, you
know? And he says that one more thing.
Cuban wants to know if you know who Jack Briscoe is.
I said, of course I know who Jack Briscoe is, man.
What? I live under a rock.
And he goes, OK, so I get out there and he ties up and he
goes, hey, monkey, ask you a question.
(50:44):
I said, yeah, he goes, you know who Jack Briscoe is?
I said, of course I do. He goes, OK, then give me a Jack
Briscoe arm, drag that bullshit to get me the TV.
So I've, you know, bridge. Then he goes over the comedy
like, ah, shit, now we can work kid, you know, and the old bit,
we've never looked back. And that's, you know, it's a 40
year friendship and a relationship that, you know,
(51:06):
we've been down the road, good, bad and different.
Had to bury parents, gone to funerals.
You know, he's, he's more than just, you know, a friend.
He's part of that brotherhood for me.
I mean, we talk every day, you know, because that's just us,
you know, We still talk shit to each other.
You know, he makes fun of me. I make fun of him.
(51:28):
But that's the bond that that I have with him.
And, you know, I always tell him, I said, you know, I need
your social, and this is really my social.
I said, yeah, because I carried you for 40 years and might as
well claim you as a dependent. And I'm like, I did all the.
You didn't do nothing. I did the opening spots to each
(51:48):
spot. They gave you the hot tag for
the finish. I did it all.
You know, he gets all sideways on me.
You're supposed to. I'm younger than you.
I said shit, but you know, it itit's all good, you know?
But that was He's my brother from another mother.
Yeah, yeah. Hey, do you have?
(52:09):
One person I'd like to hear a good story about because
unfortunately I have a embarrassing story with this
person but they've heard it 100 times on here.
What about Abdullah? Man got some good Abdullah
stuff. Well, my first my my first tour
to Japan for all Japan, it was the their World League tag team
tournament. I was partners with Doug Furnish
(52:32):
and I think it was the third night of the 30 day tour, right?
It was Abby and Ben Kamala too, right?
And I got to start off in the ring and I know Abby style from
Puerto Rico, you know, blood andguts kicking ass and everything.
So he see boom boom boom throws me outside and he starts hitting
(52:58):
me and he yells to me, fight back, fight back.
So, you know, I fight back, boomboom boom.
And then Abby yells monkey flip, you know, we're outside.
So I jump up on him, you know, and literally, you know, pushing
(53:19):
the thing. You know, I had some strong legs
back then. And he takes the bump on the
thing and the crowd went nuts. You know, here's Abby.
Boom. He takes that monkey flip out on
the floor and he subscribe the TV box.
Kid hit me with it. OK, So I picked up that TV box
and I hit him with it, you know, and gaps him, you know, and he's
got to go and he gets in and boom, boom, boom, Just roll me
(53:40):
in, roll me in. I roll him in.
I go to get in. He says to me, OK, kid, it's
over. And he gives me the chocolate
throat and I sell for him and that.
And now we go into the, you know, the finish between US and
the tag match and everything else.
And I got to the back and I saidthanks, Abby.
I mean, you know, I didn't expect the monkey flip you on
the floor and you were going to get juice for me.
And he's here. Yeah, I seen you in Puerto Rico
(54:00):
liking kid Carlos Likes. Yeah.
I just want to make sure you make a good impression so you
can keep coming back. I said, well, I appreciate it,
Abby. I mean, that was Abby, you know,
he was, you know, that major star in Japan, you know, put
this on. He was the man.
When he called Monkey Flip, I said homie shit.
(54:21):
All right. All right, Kim.
Yeah, I'm, I'm going to tell youthis because I think it'll pop
you. So when I was down there in
Puerto Rico, somehow after the show, it was at the baseball
stadium. It was just me and him left in
the dressing room. That's it.
Just me and him. And I was already dressed and
everything he was getting, he was getting changed and then
(54:43):
getting ready to get in the shower and he still had like
boxers on or something, some kind of shorts or something.
And he's over getting in the shower there.
And he goes, hey, champ, That's like, yeah, He said, can you
wash my back for me? I was like, fuck am I?
I'm 19 years old. I'm in Puerto Rico.
(55:05):
He just killed Brody on it. What the fuck, man?
So I didn't know what to do. But all this is going through my
mind very quickly, though. And I'm like, sure, yes, sure.
So I walk over there and, you know, I'm standing as far away.
I fucking can start on its back and whatnot.
(55:26):
So the conclusion to this, though, is nobody sees it or
anything. And I don't tell anybody.
But then, I don't know, two years ago, three years ago,
we're at a convention in Tennessee and Abby's there.
And this is the first time I've seen him since then.
And I was, I was telling Sabu the story and Sabu's dying
(55:46):
laughing, right? He's like, you got to tell him.
You got to tell him. And so I went over and I started
telling him the story. And in the meantime, I got
somebody because this was like connected to a hotel.
So I got somebody to go get me awash rag from the hotel and
bring it over there. And I had Abby sign it and take
a picture with me with the wash rag, with the wash.
Rag. I love it.
(56:08):
Yeah, yeah. Man, it was like, damn.
Yeah, Abby, Abby was infamous for doing things out of the
norms. Remember, we were, we were in
Puerto Rico. And he's coming out of taking a
shower and he's got his pal wrapped all the way around him.
And he says to me, he says, hey, champ, He says, I've been
(56:30):
watching what I've been eating. I said, I'm good to see you,
Abby. He said, yeah, I've dropped a
lot of weight. I said really, you know, really?
He says, yeah, I'm thinking of, of, of, of, you know, doing a
magazine sheet, so I want to look my best.
And I said, oh, OK. And he says, what do you think?
(56:51):
I said, I don't know what magazine?
He drops his tile and he goes for Playgirl and I go happy.
I didn't need that. I'm scarred for life.
He was laughing. He picks this towel up and he
goes over to get dressed and I kind of said, okay, you know, I
don't know if you're ready for Playgirl yet, Abby, but but
(57:11):
yeah, he's always had that that rapport with Abby for sure.
That is funny though, when you like, you know, I'm seeing this
dude as a kid, right? And we one of the, you know,
that look you would have on his face with those big eyes and,
you know, almost the emotionlessface and all that.
And you're thinking, dude. This guy's a killer.
(57:33):
And then you meet him and he's like.
It's kind of weird. Well, another guy like that was
Ray Candy. He looked at Ray Candy and he
was as big as a house and, you know, he'd be in the ring.
And the referee had come in between US and I remember
telling him and referee gets himthe break.
And he said the referee's gonna save your life, boy.
(57:54):
Referee's gonna save your life. Don't talk, bro.
Don't talk. You're going to kill your
gimmick. You're going to kill.
That ain't funny. That ain't funny.
I said don't say nothing, bro. Come on.
But yeah, he was. He was good people too, man.
Come on, man. He was.
(58:16):
And. Now a word from our sponsor.
Are you a pro wrestling fan? We'll stop by Captain's Corner,
where you can get autographed photos, cards, magazines, and
figures from all of your favorite wrestling superstars of
the past, present, and future. You'll also be able to
(58:37):
participate in live signings in the weeks and months to come.
Make sure to stop by Captain's Corner on Facebook and give us a
holler. Remember, cheers to the working
man. I read online that you actually
you worked for WCW and WWE as anagent, Is that so?
So you did you go over from WCW to WWE when they bought it or?
(59:02):
Yes, we, well, that was a, it was a process.
Obviously when they came into Pensacola, you seen everything
going. I remember Jerry sat next to me
asking me, you know, who ran thegorilla, who did this, who did
that and this, that and the other.
And then it was a process of incorporating it.
And we literally had the interview.
(59:25):
I met with Jim Ross to come backin as a as a producer for WWEWWF
because we did the E power and you know, in the meantime I
still had my service package from WCW and you know, I was
getting money from there and I went down to work for Carlos in
the meantime, you know, got to make money on both ends and then
(59:48):
ended up, you know, being there tag champ and then turning
around and getting the call fromJim that, you know, got to come
on board. I got to be at Raw on Monday.
So, you know, I had to tell him I'm leaving.
Wrapping me up, you. Know yeah Carlos has always been
good to me you know I still go down and produce his anniversary
(01:00:09):
shows and they were doing some pay per views for a while and I
produced them for him making sure everything ran on time so
yeah I, I learned all that beingthe producer and the agent and I
learned a lot you know working for for WWE on on production and
timing and the gorilla and all that good stuff so yeah it comes
in handy when you're when you'redoing live TV and and and all
(01:00:32):
those things that you have to beon to you and be on time and
nowhere to shave and yeah but definitely I figured you know my
body can't last forever I might as well learn something behind
the scenes yeah well. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
That makes sense. So let me ask you this then.
So I guess, and this may be a longer question than we even
have time for, but I I guess I want to make it short and sweet
(01:00:53):
here. So I know that there were talks,
we've heard it a million times from different shows, that there
were talks of Eric Bischoff trying to get a company started
at the end of WCW. And then obviously, you know, he
said it many times that WCW wentway cheaper than we even offered
to buy it. But Long story short, I guess
Vince actually did it. Whatever.
Did you have have any talks about going to that other or to
(01:01:17):
Eric Bischoff's team? Or did you also think that maybe
WWE was going to continue the WCW brand?
That kind of thing. Well, yeah.
Well, originally we had, you know, we knew that it was at
that point and Eric was in negotiations and they had
everything just about all filledup.
And then all of a sudden, that AOL Time Warner merger and the
(01:01:40):
president decided that the clientele and the demographics
of TNT was way above wrestling fans.
So we didn't have a TV program because they weren't going to
give us the time. So not having the time, what
good is having a wrestling company if you don't have no TV
time? So Vince swooped in and, you
(01:02:02):
know, can't blame him. He he bought it all.
But I thought when that all first happened, I said, well,
wow, that's that's the big thing.
That's kind of like, you know, you see Taco Bell and KFC right
next to each other sometimes in the same place under the same
thing. You know the price.
Go all that figure. OK, Vince could own this two
separate entities. Let Shane run 1 build it up, do
(01:02:24):
an invasion angle, build it up, build it up.
Have a big blow off at a WrestleMania WCW versus Daddy to
incorporate and make you know one big, you know, happy family.
But that wasn't the case. Man, I was kind of hoping it
would have been like a, you know, American League, National
League and, or AFL and it, you know, that kind of thing.
And they put it together under one big umbrella, maybe at the
(01:02:46):
WrestleMania for like a annual Super Bowl, whoever plays one
another, you know what I mean? But dude.
Yeah, that's what I thought. And that wasn't the case.
It was like, OK, we're going to keep a couple of you guys and
the rest of you guys will wish you all the best single feature
endeavor. You know how how long did you
end up staying with WWE? I ended up staying there
(01:03:07):
probably till they made the final cuts because of WCWI was
in charge of the cruiserweights.And.
I had all of them and I also wasin charge of Haku.
It was my, my deal there becauseI knew him for so long, because
we lived so close. And when it all came down, they,
(01:03:29):
I remember right after the Chicago, I think it was a
pay-per-view of the TV. I'm not really big.
They told me that I was coming off the road and, you know,
they're giving me a service package and this and the other.
And I said, OK, I mean, what am I going to do?
Like do is come because I saw other people getting cut.
And, you know, they incorporateda lot of people where, you know,
(01:03:49):
they, they already had their fixed agents sitting there, you
know, but I learned, you know, all about, you know, the, the
commissions and the, and the cost of the arenas and the money
and the advance and how was the weather?
How many people took drugs, you know, all the the actual work
that the agents did, you know, for events and call in and
everything else. So, you know, it was a learning
(01:04:11):
experience. But, you know, I was hoping it
would have been a longer, a longer run.
But, you know, they just kept a few.
And, you know, the ones that they kept because they're the
ones that are, they're still hanging around, if not too many,
you know, I mean, that's just the way it is.
I mean, it's, it's like anythingin any company in the real
(01:04:32):
world. When they make a merger, they're
going to, you know, last one in,first one out.
So I don't have any, I don't have the regrets because I
learned a lot, you know, and I've utilized it.
But yeah, I'd have loved those stayed alone.
I'd have loved those stayed. My contract was for three years,
yeah, I forgot my contract. So that's.
Cool. That's cool.
But yeah. It didn't end up going three
(01:04:54):
years, but you know, I had my three-year contract so.
Yeah, good. I'd.
Like that one more last questionhere because it kind of wouldn't
be my sure if I talk about this.So in reading your stuff, I just
didn't never see the word Memphis.
And you know, that's where I've made my name.
That's just recently I've, you know, had the honor of being
inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame.
(01:05:15):
Awesome privilege there. Did you never come through
Memphis at all? I had an opportunity to go to
Memphis. I had discussed it with Lawler
coming out of Puerto Rico, me and Ray Gonzalez.
I said, I, you know, I got us, you know, we can go in there, we
can make a ton of money because I knew that the Fabs had made a
ton of money. Steven Stan, you know, we were
(01:05:36):
that same type of gimmick, you know, get all them double team
spots, ladies, men, you know, that whole persona, right?
And he didn't, he didn't want toleave the island.
You didn't want to leave. So from there I just said, OK,
you know, I'm, I'm not going to homestead it here because my
home is in Florida. You know, I'll come in and out,
(01:05:57):
but you know, I'll spend my eight or nine months and, and go
about my business. But he he never, he never
decided to go because we, we, I had a starting date.
Did you and? Then I said, hey, yeah.
He said, yeah, you know, as soonas you tell me go, you'll, you
know, two weeks from now you'll be here.
We'll do, do TV. I said, OK, well, I asked him
(01:06:17):
and he said no. And I said, hey, you know, my
partner doesn't want to go. Appreciate the offer.
And then I think I went on to WCW, which is still part of the
N.W.A. You know, I knew Kevin from
obviously from Florida and the Crockett in that territory.
So Kevin was there and they gaveme a start date and then I went
(01:06:38):
there. So, you know, I, I kept going my
my whole thing when I broke intobusiness and said I want to
learn every style and I go all the way around the world.
I want to know the American. I want to know the blood and
guts. I want to know the European, I
want to know the Japanese, I want to know the lucha libre.
And I, I got a chance to do them, so I can't complain.
So yeah, yeah, that's the way I looked at it.
But yeah, I would have loved to have gone into Memphis.
(01:06:59):
I would have loved to have gone.Into Memphis, Jimmy, you want to
give them the rundown on the. Expo again?
Yeah, man, one more time. The Portland Wrestling Expo, Of
course, with our buddy Captain'sCorner that Saturday, February
22nd. Portland, OR.
It's at the Holiday Inn PortlandAirport, 8439 Northeast Columbia
Court, Portland, OR. It's going to be a lot of fun, a
(01:07:21):
lot of your old buddies, man. I can't wait to hear all about
it. I'm sure it's going to be a
blast. Absolutely.
And I and I asked the people getyour tickets early because this
is the first time anybody's everdone that.
And I know the captain, he always runs a top notch event
and get see a lot of a lot of the guys that went out there.
(01:07:42):
Unfortunately, a lot of them that were out there no longer
with us. And, you know, here's your
chance to to to reminisce with the the heydays of of the
Portland rustling territory in the 80s and the 90s before
everything went S for sure, yeah.
Well, man, we appreciate you coming on today, man.
It's been a pleasure talking to you and again, thank you and and
(01:08:05):
good luck in everything that you're doing.
Tell all The Florida Boys hello.I will do that.
You guys enjoy the rest of the day and a lot of success with
your deal going on and keep it going because that's what keeps
people interested, especially old school.
You know, that's that Everybody talks current, not too many talk
(01:08:26):
old school. That's it.
That's Amen. Amen.
Take care yourself, my man. Thank you, Ricky.
We'll be right back with ass Wolfie D anything.
DJ hit the music. All right, we are back.
(01:09:06):
We are back. With ass anything Jimmy, I
wanted to say it first you. Got it.
It's yours. It's yours.
Show we're good. But no, seriously, man, Ricky
Santana, bro, that was very cool.
Yes, like you said, we didn't know him, but I've known his
career. Great stories, answered all the
questions yeah. I love our show Jimmy.
(01:09:29):
I really love our show and I hope the lizards do too.
I. Think so, You know I.
Hope the guys that come on love it and you know whatever, I just
happy feelings today. Yeah, Hey man, I like it.
Well, the first question we haveis from Brad Freeland on
Facebook. And this one is is a good
question because, you know, I just think it's a good question.
(01:09:49):
So he he starts with this. He says after the matches, I'm.
Sorry, it's a good question because you think it's a good
question. All right, cool.
Yeah, exactly. Let's go, let's go.
That's the clearing point. Yeah.
So after the matches at the bar having a few relaxers, was it
common that guys would try you or the boys like?
The having a few relaxers, yeah, the muscle relaxers, I don't
(01:10:15):
know. And who was going to try me and
who like? Somebody you know, somebody sees
the boys out and the girls are paying attention to you all and
it's a regular guy. Yeah, I mean, dude, that was
probably more in the 80s and stuff. 90s didn't really get too
much of that. Not to say that we didn't have
any altercations every now and then, but it was more ha ha with
(01:10:39):
that, you know what I'm saying? I've told you stories of, of, of
things where people just laughedat the shit we were doing and
laughed at this and that the others.
So now it wasn't too many fights, you know, been we fought
each other, not just me and Jamie, but the boys.
But you know, I've been pulled over and the cops would be like,
(01:11:01):
hey man, you'll sign this off fucking.
But you go and I'm like, alright, thank you very much.
But not not too many fights of because everybody wanted to be
your friend in in my in my experience, everybody wanted to
be your friend. Yeah, Yeah, it did.
I, I, I can see what you're saying.
(01:11:21):
Not that I was in it, but I can definitely see what you're
saying that it would have changed.
Like the guys wanted to hang outwith you more than fight you at
that point. Which is cool, you know.
Man, that's cool. Well, that's a good question,
Brad, and a great answer, Wolfie.
So thank you for that. So the second one is from Daniel
Chad Whitehead on Facebook. Daniel always asks some great
questions. And this one, I think I know the
(01:11:43):
answer, but I, I would like to hear your conversation about it.
So it says, did you ever get to meet Tojo Yamamoto?
No, I did not meet Tojo Yamamoto, but I was at Tojo's
funeral. Yeah, the first wrestling
funeral I ever attended. I was, I think, 15 years old.
(01:12:04):
Me and my stepdad went there, you know, told you.
And so that. Yeah, that was the first
wrestling funeral that I ever attended.
Saw Jerry Jarrett do the eulogy, crying and all that kind of
stuff. And I know that's kind of A and
I'm not making fun. I'm just saying that was kind of
a thing they talk about where Jay was crying and stuff.
(01:12:27):
But anyway, yeah, I did not meetTojo.
But yeah, the first wrestling funeral, funeral, funeral,
funeral, yeah, that I would everattend was Tojo Yamamoto.
Man, crazy. Yeah.
That is crazy, especially that. Yeah, I think that's respect
showing that you went, you know, even though you didn't know him.
(01:12:49):
But, you know, that was, yeah, that was cool.
And I'm sure that helped, you know, helped some of the people
to see like, hey, Wolfie's in this with us, you know, so
that's cool. That's cool.
Yeah. Showing your respects.
I mean, everybody loves Tojo, from what I hear.
I've heard so many stories on mypodcast about all the guys that
just love Tojo and Gypsy Joe, you know?
So, you know, that's cool, man. Well, that's a great answer.
(01:13:11):
Thank you, Wolfie. And this third one is actually
from this is a good hypothetical1 and I want to hear your
thoughts. So it's Keenan Brown from
Facebook, and he says Airwolf versus Wolfie D versus
cyberpunk, Fire versus Slash Who?
Wins four way dance. Yeah.
Oh my goodness. Airwolf's out first.
(01:13:34):
OK so damn, I wish they would give me the rules.
Is it a first pen? Yeah.
Let's do. Let's do an elimination.
Yeah. Elimination.
Yeah, let's do an elimination. First he's a kid.
Yeah, poor good kid, I think. OK, then we got, yeah, I think
(01:13:56):
fires out next. Yeah, he tried.
Yeah, he did. And then he tried the karate,
but it didn't work. And then you got Wolfie D versus
slash. That's that's like I've wanted
to draw a picture of this for solong.
Dude, we need AT shirt of that. Yeah, me.
Standing over, I don't know which one is which.
(01:14:19):
I'm not going to say it, but yeah, I love slash.
I love slash. I think slash was more me than
anything. But then again, Wolfie D was
more me at a certain age, and that's why I changed it into
slash. So I think they're both very,
very cool wrestlers. So who goes over in this
(01:14:44):
journey? Oh my God, I think that Wolfie D
beats slash. Yes, So I agree.
Yeah, he pulls it through. Because here we're looking at
this. We want to send him home happy,
right? And Wolfie's the everliving
babyface. Some kind of heat and then
fucking Wolfie pulls the hubcap out and fucking hell slash
(01:15:04):
couple times and so. Can I manage Wolfie D or is
Jamie managing Wolfie D? And then it's Jim Mitchell
versus Jamie And. And then so who?
Yeah. So Jamie somehow helps you get
it or is it all on you? I'm just kidding.
No. It's all on me.
It's all. And if Jim Mitchell fights
(01:15:27):
Jamie, Jim Mitchell goes over who gives Jamie the pointed boot
in his butt hole, I promise. Man, poor guy.
Yeah, well, that's awesome, man.I like that.
Yeah, I think that's it. And I like that you're sending
them home happy with the baby face going over, but it's not
going to be easy. And Wolfie is not coming out
hole, right? He's literally going to have
some holes in him or something, you know, because.
(01:15:50):
He's bleeding. He's he's damn near dead, but
the hubcap comes out and fuckingSlash can't take it.
Yeah, yeah. So.
Jamie takes the boot, he's out for it, but that distracts James
enough from Slash and then you're able to get the hubcap.
You take Slash out, boom, it's. Kind of weigh in this finish.
(01:16:12):
James Mitchell puts his fucking boot point in Jamie's butt hole.
That's the best part. We love you man.
Oh, do we? That was awesome.
Well, Wolfie D wins. That's awesome.
Yeah. Good question, Keenan.
That was fun, right? Yeah.
Yeah, Yeah. Well.
(01:16:32):
That's all I got, brother. That was a good.
Well, all I got man, Thank you, Ricky Santana, thank you, Jimmy.
Thank you listeners and man TuneIn next week and hopefully
we can entertain you one more time still.
Loving it. I got a cap for your Dome.
