The Pittsburgh Steelers made a major splash by acquiring All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster trade yesterday. In the deal, the Steelers received Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 7th-round pick, while sending star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th-round pick to Miami. As part of the agreement, Pittsburgh will cover the bulk of Ramsey’s $26.6 million 2025 salary, with the Dolphins contributing around $3 million. Watt did not attend mandatory minicamp, demanding a new, top-tier defensive contract — one closer to players like Myles Garrett ($40 M/year) than his $28 M average. Multiple teams have reportedly inquired about his availability following recent Steelers trades (e.g., Jalen Ramsey acquisition), but Pittsburgh has made clear they’re not shopping him and are intent on keeping him via extension.
