Saul chased David all over creation (or the land they thought was all of creation, but in reality it was like the size of Rhode Island.) When Saul finally caught up to him, the Philistines invaded. After Saul sent them packing he went and tracked David down to the Crags of the Wild Goats where he decided to go shit in a cave. David snuck up to him while he was shitting and cut part of his robe off. David then proceeded to tell him that he could have killed him, but chose not to. This made Saul back off.
Then David and his men came across a rich man named Nabal, which basically means "Fool" and his sexy wife Abigail. God decided to kill Nabal because he was stupid and David decided to marry his sexy wife Abigail.
Then Saul pursued David once again, David spared his life once again, and Saul went home... once again.
