Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody, welcome back to the Bible
Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon, today,
jeremiah, chapter 32, andtoday's title is God Can Do a
Rubik's Cube Blindfolded.
God can.
I said that terribly.
God can do a Rubik's Cubeblindfolded.
Hopefully that will make sensehere in just a moment.
But, as always, if you haveyour Bibles, want to open up

(00:21):
with me to Jeremiah 32,.
While you're doing that, ifyou're new here, make sure you
like, share and subscribe to theYouTube channel and the podcast
.
Make sure you're tellingsomebody about the YouTube
channel and the podcast.
Leave us a five-star review.
I love the fact that we get todo this together, and one of the
ways we do this together is bygoing to the Bible Breakdown
Discussion on Facebook.
The more we dig, the more wefind, and they are just helping

(00:42):
us understand God's word moreand more every single day.
Well, once again, if you haveyour Bibles, I want to open up
with me to Jeremiah 32.
The reason why I say God can doa Rubik's cube blindfolded is
because, to me, the hardestthing in the world and here's
the thing I've seen somebody dothis.
I know someone personally whocan do this, but one of the
hardest things ever is to do aRubik's Cube.

(01:04):
I cannot, for the life of me,figure out how to do this thing.
What's even more justoutrageous is I have seen people
who will look at that Rubik'sCube for a moment.
They'll look at two of them, one in each hand, and then they
will blindfold themselves andthen inside 60 seconds, just
moving their fingers around, they will figure them out.

(01:24):
And I'm telling you, I amcertain they are cheating.
They have to be.
It is the most amazing thingever and, as a matter of fact, I
want to put the challenge outto our entire Bible Breakthrough
Nation that if you can do twoRubik's Cubes blindfolded,
please I would love for you todo that blindfolded.
Post a video and tag us and Iwill.

(01:46):
I will give you the very firstBible breakthrough t-shirt or
breakdown t-shirt.
Okay, I've got to see it.
It is one of the most crazythings I can think of, and yet
someone can do it.
Well, that's what I think aboutwhen I think about this chapter,
because in in chapter 32, theBible is telling us, god's
telling us, through Jeremiah inhis word, he is saying that I'm

(02:09):
going to do some amazing stuffthat you're going to think is
impossible.
You're going to think how inthe world is God going to do
this?
Well, because I'm God.
That's why you couldn't do this, but I can because I'm God.
As a matter of fact, he tellsJeremiah to buy some land
because this is going to beworth something.
One day I'm going to restoreall of this.
And there are times in our lifewhen we get ourselves into a

(02:32):
situation or a situation getsaround us and we think, man,
there is no way that God can fixthis mess.
Well, imagine the mess that thenation of Israel is in.
They have been deported, somany of them to all these other
nations out of defeat.
All these bad things arehappening to them and yet, in
the middle of all of thisdisaster, god is saying one day

(02:54):
I'm going to bring them backtogether.
As a matter of fact, that's thetheme of Jeremiah that God
gives us a hope and a future.
He gives us a light in themiddle of darkness.
So we're going to read thistogether and watch how God is
saying I'm telling you I can dothe impossible.
Watch me do it, you ready.
Jeremiah, chapter 32, verse 1,says this the following message
came to Jeremiah from the Lordin the 10th year of the reign of

(03:16):
Zedekiah, king of Judah.
This was also the 18th year ofthe reign of King Nebuchadnezzar
.
Jerusalem was then under siegefrom the Babylonian army and
Jeremiah was imprisoned in thecourtyard of the guard of the
royal palace.
King Zedekiah had put him there, asking why he kept giving this

(03:38):
prophecy.
This is what the Lord says.
This is what Jeremiah would say.
This is what the Lord says I amabout to hand this city over to
the king of Babylon and he willtake it.
King Zedekiah will be capturedfrom the Babylonians and be
taken to meet the king ofBabylon face to face.
He will then take Zedekiah toBabylon and he will deal with
him there, says the Lord.

(03:59):
If you fight against theBabylonians, you will never
succeed.
At that time, the Lord sent methis message and he said your
cousin Hanumanel, son of Zolam, will come to you and say Buy my
field at Anathoth.
By law, you have the right tobuy it before it is offered to
anyone else.
Now pause, there's a lot goingon there.

(04:20):
First of all, jeremiah then gotarrested.
He got arrested becauseNebuchadnezzar's army, babylon,
had surrounded Jerusalem, andthey kept saying listen, if you
surrender, we will not kill mostof you, I mean some people are
going to die.
That's what this is.
This is a battle, but the restof you are going to live and
we're going to take your king.
We're going to do what we did,and Jeremiah is saying God is

(04:42):
not going to deliver us out ofthis.
We have done too much, we'vegone too far, too much blood is
on our hands.
We need to give up.
Well, obviously that's bad formorale, even though it's the
truth, and so Zedekiah had himarrested and he's about to
starve him to death too.
We're going to find out later, but even while that's happening,
some relative of Jeremiah isgoing to come to Jeremiah while

(05:03):
he's in prison.
He said hey, you want to buy myland?
Yeah, the land is worth prettymuch nothing right now because
we're being overrun.
Would you want to buy that land?
Well, if you've ever read thebook of Ruth, he had to, because
the way it would work is is, ifyou ever wanted to sell your
land, there was a line of people.
You had to sell it to, oneafter the other, depending on
who was your closest relative.
It's just the way they did that, because they wanted to keep

(05:25):
the land in the family, becauseit'd been given to them by God
after they came out of Egypt, right?
So he didn't have a choice.
So here's Jeremiah, he's inprison because he's telling the
truth.
And this guy comes up and he'slike hey look, man, you want to
buy my land?
Well then, verse eight saysthis.
Then, just as the Lord had saidhe would, my cousin Hanamel came

(05:47):
and visited me in prison.
He said please buy my field atAnathoth in the land of Benjamin
.
By law, you have the right tobuy it before it is offered to
anyone else, so buy it foryourself.
Then I knew that the message Ihad heard was from the Lord.
So I bought the field atAnathoth, paying Hanumanel 17
pieces of silver for it.
I signed and sealed the deedand purchased it before

(06:08):
witnesses weighed out for silver, and then I paid them.
Then I took and sealed the deedand an unsealed copy of the
deed which contained the termsand conditions of the purchase,
and I handed them to Baruch, sonof Neriah, the grandson of
Mashiach.
I did all this in the presenceof my cousin Hanumanel and the

(06:29):
witness who had signed the deedand all the men of Judah who
were there in the courtyard ofthe guardhouse.
Then I said to Baruch, as theyall listened.
This is what the Lord ofheaven's armies, the God of
Israel, says take both thesealed deed and the unsealed
copy and put them into a potteryjar to preserve them for a long
time.

(06:49):
For this is what the Lord ofheaven's armies, the God of
Israel, says.
Someday, people will again ownproperty here in this land and
will buy and sell houses andvineyards and fields.
Now pause.
Another thing is Baruch, the guywe just mentioned.
That was like Jeremiah'ssecretary.
He would write down a lot ofthe prophecies and so it's kind

(07:10):
of like his right-hand man.
And so he tells them this.
And this is a wonderful thing, even though it's looking like
you know, the enemy is going totake over.
They're never going to havepeace again.
He's saying I want you to goahead and put this away, because
one day, better times arecoming.
I know it may seem impossible.
Better times are coming.
Let's go.
Verse 16.
Then, after I had given thesepapers to Baruch, my father, my

(07:33):
secretary, I pray to the Lord.
Oh, sovereign Lord, you madethe heavens and the earth by
your strong hand and powerfularm.
Nothing is too hard for you.
You show unfailing love tothousands, but you also bring
the consequences of onegeneration's sin upon the next.
You are a great and powerfulGod, the Lord of heaven's armies

(07:54):
.
You have all wisdom to do greatand mighty miracles.
You see the conduct of all thepeople.
You give them what they deserve.
You performed miraculous signsand wonders in the land of Egypt
.
Things still remember to thisday.
You have continued to do greatmiracles in Israel and all
around the world, and you havemade your name famous to this

(08:17):
day, in Israel and all aroundthe world.
And you have made your namefamous to this day.
You brought Israel out of Egyptwith mighty signs and wonders,
with a strong hand and apowerful arm, with overwhelming
terror, you gave the people ofIsrael this land that you
promised their ancestors longbefore, a land flowing with milk
and honey.
Our ancestors came andconquered it and lived in it,

(08:37):
but they refused to obey you orfollow your word.
They have not done anything youcommanded.
That is why you have sent thisterrible disaster upon them.
See how the siege ramps havebeen built against the city
walls.
Through war, famine and disease, the city will be handed over
to the Babylonians who willconquer it.
Everything has happened just asyou have said.

(09:00):
Yet, oh sovereign lord, youhave told me to buy the field,
paying good money for it beforethese witnesses, even though the
city will soon be handed overto the babylonians.
Then this message came tojeremiah from the I am the Lord,
the God of all the peoples ofthe world.
Is anything too hard for me?

(09:21):
Therefore, this is what theLord says I will hand this city
over to the Babylonians and toNebuchadnezzar, the king of
Babylon, and he will capture it.
The Babylonians outside thewalls will come in and set fire
to the city, will come in andset fire to the city.
They will burn down all thesehouses where the people provoked
my anger by burning incense toBaal on the rooftops and by

(09:43):
pouring out liquid offerings toother gods.
Israel and Judah have donenothing but wrong.
Since their early days, theyhave infuriated me with all
their evil deeds, says the Lord.
From the time this city wasbuilt until now, it has done
nothing but anger me, so I amdetermined to get rid of it.
The sin of Israel and Judah, the sins of the people of

(10:04):
Jerusalem, the kings and theofficials, and the priests and
the prophets have stirred up myanger.
My people have turned theirback on me and refused to return
, even though I diligentlytaught them they would not
receive instruction or obey.
They have set up theirabominable idols right in my own
temple, defiling it.
They have built pagan shrinesto Baal in the valley of

(10:26):
Ben-Hinnom and there theysacrificed their sons and
daughters to Molech.
And I have never committed sucha horrible deed.
It's never even crossed my mindto do such a thing.
What an incredible evil causingJudah to sin so greatly.
But now I want to say somethingmore about this city.
You have been saying it willfall to the king of Babylon

(10:47):
through war, famine and disease.
But this is what the Lord, theGod of Israel, says I will
certainly bring back my peopleagain from all the countries
where I have scattered them inmy fury.
I will bring them back to thisvery city and let them live in
peace and safety.
They will be my people and Iwill be their God.

(11:07):
I will give them one heart andone purpose to worship me
forever, for their own good andfor the good of all their
descendants.
I will make an everlastingcovenant with them.
I will never stop doing goodfor them.
I will put a desire in theirheart to worship me and they
will never leave me.
I will find joy doing good forthem and will faithfully and

(11:30):
wholeheartedly replant them inthis land.
This is what the Lord says.
Just as I have brought allthese calamities on them, so I
will do all these good things Ihave promised them.
Fields will again be bought andsold in this land, about which
you now say it has been ravagedby the Babylonians, a desolate

(11:51):
land where people and animalshave all disappeared.
Yes, fields will once again bebought and sold, deeds signed
and sealed and witnessed in theland of Benjamin and here in
Jerusalem and in the towns ofJudah, and in the hill country
and in the foothills of Judahand the Negev too, for someday I
will restore prosperity to them.
I, the Lord, have spoken.

(12:14):
Wow, I love how God is sayingand he says this in verse 27,.
He says is there anything toohard for me?
Is there anything too hard forme?
Well, what an interestingquestion.
Because, you know, can we bereally honest for a second?
Just really honest.
Sometimes we think the answeris yes.

(12:35):
God is saying is anything toohard for me?
Is there anything I can't do?
And you say well, you know, god, you can do a lot of things.
I mean, there's a lot of thingsyou can do, god, but you know,
there's that Rubik's Cube, thenthere's two Rubik's Cubes, then
there's two Rubik's cubes, thenthere's two Rubik's cubes
blindfolded, and God, there's acertain point.
I just don't think you can doit, and some of us listening or

(12:55):
watching this today would say Ihave never said that, but
haven't we, haven't we said that?
By the way we live our lives, when we get into a mess, when
everything's going wrong, wethink that God can do some
things.
But there's some things we justdon't think God can do because
we live as though there's no way.
We don't trust him.
Can I speak about myself first, and that is there are some

(13:19):
things that it's easy for me totrust God with.
It's usually the things I canalready do by myself, and it's
more about trusting God to giveme the strength to do things
rather than doing miracles.
But there are things it's thetwo Rubik's cubes blindfolded.
Sometimes I struggle to trustGod with, not because he has
ever given me one single reasonto doubt he's able.

(13:40):
It's more about just strugglingto trust.
Are you there too?
Is there ever been a time inyour life when there's been some
things?
No problem.
I trust God.
He can do this, no problem.
Then there's some things, god, Iknow you can.
I just don't know if you will.
There's some things I feel likemaybe are too hard.

(14:02):
Well, maybe when we finish ourtime together, maybe that needs
to be our prayer.
God, I'm so sorry that Isometimes doubt what you're able
to do.
I sometimes struggle to trulybelieve and trust.
Forgive me, I repent of thatand I want to believe you can do
anything and then live asthough he can Live, as though

(14:24):
what God says he can do he cantruly do.
What would it look like in yourlife if you lived the next 24
hours as though all the promisesof God are yes and in him, amen
.
Let's pray together right now.
God, thank you so much for today.
Thank you, god, for your word.
Thank you, god, that there isnothing too hard for you, that
anything, anything is possiblewith you.

(14:45):
You walk with us, you are withus and you are for us in all
things.
I celebrate you today in Jesus.
Jesus' name, we pray Amen, amen.
What God's word says, say itwith me.
Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 13.
If you look for mewholeheartedly, you will find me
.
My hope is that we find Godfresh and new every day.
I love you.
I'll see you tomorrow forJeremiah chapter 33.
