Our goal is to explore the narratives of the Bible in light of their cultural and literary context. As we study the Bible, we want to get inside the mind of the author(s) to understand the intended meaning of scripture and how scripture informs our hope in Jesus.

The question of authenticity is a popular topic within New Testament studies. There are debates over the authorship of some of the New Testament letters. If some of these letters are authored by someone other than the apostle whose name is on them, how does this affect the letter’s authority?
As we discuss the formation of the New Testament Canon, we first need to understand how the New Testament letters were written. Then, we need to understand why and how the first Christians copied these books. Knowing about these processes will help us think more clearly about the formation and purpose of our Bibles.
