What happens when a man who's been paralyzed for 38 years meets someone who challenges his entire way of thinking? In this special second anniversary episode of The Biblical Leadership Show, we dive into John Chapter 5 to explore how Jesus approached a man stuck in both physical paralysis and mental stagnation with a deceptively simple question: "Do you want to get well?"

This powerful story reveals one of leadership's most transformative principles - good leaders help people see possibilities they can't see for themselves. After decades in the same condition, this man's vision had become limited by his circumstances. He couldn't imagine a different future until Jesus helped him envision one. How many people in your organization might be similarly stuck, unable to see beyond their current limitations?

We also examine how Jesus consistently led with authority rather than popularity, challenging established norms when they no longer served people. When religious leaders objected to healing on the Sabbath, Jesus prioritized compassion over convention - a reminder that effective leadership sometimes requires questioning "the way things have always been done."

As we celebrate two years of biblical leadership exploration, we reflect on our journey through all 39 books of the Old Testament and now into the New Testament. Our mission remains the same: helping you extract practical leadership wisdom from ancient texts by reading scripture through a "leadership filter." Whether you're managing a team, running a business, or simply wanting to grow as a leader, these timeless principles offer guidance for today's challenges.

Join us each week as we continue unpacking leadership lessons from the Bible - with the occasional dad joke thrown in for good measure! Subscribe now and tell someone else about The Biblical Leadership Show.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
uh-huh now, yeah, uh-huh, yeah, yeah, come on,
come on, all righty, welcomewelcome welcome, welcome, dr

(00:36):
bozzi, it's our anniversary itis second anniversary second
anniversary wow, how exciting isthat being going on for two
years.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
You'd think that'd been going on for two years now.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
You would think it'd been going on for two years now,
that's crazy.
Yeah, two years.
Yeah, I got to apologize rightnow because we're all sugared up
.
Dr Posey brought us a surprisebag of cookies from Tiff's, and
so we've been eating cookies inthe studio.
Got some sparkling water here,we're going at it, you, and so
we've been eating cookies in thestudio.
I've got some sparkling water.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Here we're going at it.
You know Big celebration, butwe're sugared up.
So if we go a little crazy, that's it.
If we go a little heavy on thedad jokes.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
That might be why right?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, but happy anniversary, brother.
Happy anniversary to you.
This is awesome Two years so.
For those listeners who mightnot have caught the first couple
of shows, two years ago.
Why don't you just kind ofupdate everybody on the back
story of how this wholeadventure got started?

Speaker 1 (01:32):
This was a fun one.
How we got started on this.
I just kept having this idea ofyou know, just kept in
meditation and prayer and I kepthaving the idea that I was
going to do this podcast with DrPosey and I kept dismissing it
and it kept reappearing everytime that I would do it and I

(01:55):
was like he was still a minister, he was going large church and
I knew it'd be a conflict ofinterest.
I'm like it's not possible.
I mean it's not possible.
I know that he can't do itright.
And then there was this bigseries of events.
You can get into it andeverything changed right and it

(02:19):
changed pretty quick becausethere were some things.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
that happened and I decided I just needed to retire
and step aside.
And that happened.
And at my retirement party youcame up and shared that vision
with me and handed me your card.
And you know, I knew who youwere, but you know we hadn't
spent a whole lot of timetogether before then and so I
said, well, let me think aboutit, pray about it.

(02:41):
And so we were going onvacation right after that, and
so I think in sometime in thatfall that we started talking and
getting together and just kindof brainstorming what would this
show look like and what wouldwe focus on.

(03:02):
And we spent some time justprocessing that, thinking about
it, and then we started.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
we started, yeah, yeah and that's what I was
saying.
You know, I tell people all thetime I'm like just, you know,
and I'm a big intuitive personand and follow you know some of
the the, the thoughts that comein your head and all that stuff,
and then really investigatethem and and vet them out.
But yeah, I did not think itwas possible.

(03:28):
And then within a couple monthsI'm handing you a card and
listening to your last one atour church going this is sad,
but this is where I'm at.
And yeah, I caught him, I'm inline.
I mean, there's hundreds ofpeople in line, line and I'm
just.
Here's my card.
Let me tell you a thought.
I whispered in his ear mythought.
I said call me, think about it,this is my card, call me when

(03:50):
you get settled.
And then I just I was likebye-bye, you know, and uh, I'd
been a regular, he, he, dr P,had known me.
I say hi, shook his hand allthe time but it, like you said,
didn't hang out and all thatstuff, and it all came together
and I've had a great time.
As I've said it many times, Ienjoy this and I learn a lot.
It's sort of like I have myprivate minister here just

(04:12):
teaching me every week and Ilove that and plus we've got
snacks.
Plus, he brings snacks, hebrings cookies.
I mean, what is?

Speaker 2 (04:21):
better than that Snacks in the Bible.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
It's exactly right, so yeah, but I've had a great
time.
It's been good, it's been agood two years.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
It's hard to believe two years.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
It is insane to think of two years.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Yes, it's crazy, and we're just beginning.
We are I mean we're up to sevenlisteners this week.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Oh we kid about it, we continue to get listeners
every week they must like thedad jokes.
They must like the dad jokesyeah Right.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
So let's just talk about kind of our focus you know
other than dad jokes andtalking about snacks.
We started out this podcast twoyears ago focusing on a book
that I wrote about Noah's Ark,and the book was not about did

(05:13):
Noah's Ark happen?
Is it real?
I believe it was real becauseit was in the Bible, but the
question was what are theleadership principles that we
can see from that particularstory in the book of Genesis?
And so that's been our focus.
That's why we call it theBiblical Leadership Show,
because we take the Bible and welook at certain passages of the
Bible and then we talk aboutleadership.

(05:36):
And so I was a pastor for 45years.
Tim has been in theconstruction business for
decades and other businesses.
He's a nationally known speaker.
He travels around, teachesleadership principles, and so
we're coming with experience.
We're not just you know peoplejust making stuff up.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
We love to make stuff up.
We love making stuff up.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
But we come with that experience under our belt and
so what we've done really in thelast year is we decided why
don't we just go through all thebooks of the Bible?
And so if you are listening tothe podcast you can go back to
probably almost a year ago andwe started with the book of

(06:22):
Genesis, going through everybook of the Bible, and we
finished the Old Testament 39books.
Now we're on the New Testament.
We've got 27 books, but we'rein the fourth book, the book of
John, and last week we finishedchapter four.
In our planning and we like toplan things out so we know

(06:46):
what's coming up in the nextmonth or so of shows we thought
that we could do one book perweek.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
And that happened in the Old Testament.
There was so much that Jesuswas teaching about leadership
because he was a phenomenalleader and teacher that we
realized you know, we're notgoing to rush through it, this
is.
We don't have to do that, it'sour show, so we can take it as
slow as we need to and deep diveas much as we need to, and so,

(07:21):
like in the book of Luke, ittook us four weeks.
We're now on the fourth week ofthe book of John and we're on
chapter five.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
And it's not just the snacks, it's just not the
snacks.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
It's some really good principles.
It is some great stuff, and soI encourage you if you haven't
listened to all of it, just goback and catch from the
beginning of the book of John.
That'd be a couple of weeks agoand around the first of
September.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
No beginning of the book of John.
That'd be a couple of weeks agoand around the 1st of September
.
No, we want them to start twoyears ago.
Yes, and just binge listenright, I hope the show has got
better over the last couple ofyears.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yes, the jokes.
I don't know if the jokes havegotten better.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Maybe I need to go back and look at some of those
initial ones and see how we did.
But some of the principles.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
We repeat like the very first show was on.
The word is but some of theprinciples we repeat, like the
very first show was on the wordis your word, your bond, and
that is still such a powerfulleadership tool.
Right and so, trust, humility, not thinking more highly of
yourself than you ought to,that's a very biblical
leadership principle.
And so we get to talk about theBible.

(08:24):
We talk about some leadershipprinciples, but we also have dad
jokes and we love all the partsof the show.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
And people ask us and they actually like the dad
jokes.
And then some people are likewhat's up with the dad jokes?
I'm like that was in ourpre-show and I was like if we're
going to do this, we want tohave fun.
And for some reason we startedtelling dad jokes that day and
we're like that's it.
We're going to throw dad jokesin the show, right?
And that was sort of ourpre-show when we had multiple
meetings trying to figure outhow we wanted to set up the

(08:50):
podcast and I hope you guys likeit, I like it and I know Dr
Posey does.
You see his spread over there, right?
It's like his mission all weekis to find 500 new dad jokes
that are not out there in theworld, right?
So?

Speaker 2 (09:05):
he starts writing his own.
I know I've got some great dadjokes, but it makes our time
enjoyable here in the studio andwe hope the listeners groan as
much as we do when we tell thejokes.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Oh yeah, some of them are groaners, some of them are
good.
Some of my kids are like hey, Ilike that dad joke, oh dad.
Some of them are growners, someof them are good.
Some of my kids are like hey, Ilike that dad joke, oh dad,
there wasn't any good dad jokestoday.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, today we're in the nice studio here in your
office, in your training center.
But I was thinking in Texas.
That's where we are.
If you're not familiar, we'rein the Dallas-Fort Worth area
and it's September.
We're still hot here.
We had a mild summer.
I only think we had less thanfive days of over 100, which is
very, very unusual for us inTexas.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
It was sort of crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
But it's still warm here, and so I was thinking
whoever invented airconditioning must have been
really cool.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
I like it yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
So what do you call an angry bow and arrow?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Angry bow and arrow.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I don't know A crossbow.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Oh boy, what's Forrest Gump's password to his
computer?
Oh, I know this one.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Yeah, oh, all I can think of is run, forrest run.
It's close One Forrest run, ohone Forrest run, oh One Forrest
run.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Oh gosh, here's the thing that Dr B he knows all the
jokes right so I mean heresearches these.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
You gotta understand this is but my retirement.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
He's went to retiring .
You think you know he does some, still does some preaching and
some churches and fills in withsome people, but I mean his life
is to research dad jokes.
That's it a little triathlontraining a little preaching, a
lot of dad joke, research, that's the way it is right.
A little guitar, yeah, exactlyright.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
So how did the hackers escape the police?

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Oh boy, and you can tell I don't have time People
are like that's a simple one,Tim, Are they?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
ransomware.
Are they ransomware?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Are they ransomware?
All right, I'll give you thatone.
I hadn't heard of that one.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
So let's just maybe talk about the Bible.
What do you think about that?

Speaker 1 (11:41):
I guess I was looking here I was like do I have any
good ones?
What do you call a snowman witha six-pack?

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yes, something like an abdominal snowman Abdominal
snowman.
Oh, there we go, I tried tostump him.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Maybe that's what we'll do for our New Year's Eve
show.
Right Is we'll have stump DrPosey on dad jokes.
And then I'll break out all thedad jokes and see how many
times we can do it.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I know we've shared this one before, but what do you
call a happy cowboy?
I don't know?
A jolly rancher?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
I like it One more see if you can figure it out,
See if you know it.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
One more, see if you can figure it out.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
One more, see, if you know it I've heard it, I've
said it before, I think why didthe coffee file a police report?

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Because it was mugged there you go.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
All right, john.
4.
John 5.
No, john 5.
Yeah, john 5.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
John 5.
So last week, john 4, jesustalking to a woman at the well
and powerful story in the Bible.
It's only found in the book ofJohn, in chapter 4.
And we talked a lot about theleadership.
Principle is that every personin your organization has value,

(13:07):
in your organization has valueand that if possible and I would
say if you have a company of100 employees or less it's
possible within a year to spenda little bit of time with every
person one-on-one.
And you might, you know, havelunch in the warehouse with five
people.
Don't have lunch with 40 peoplebecause you don't get to.
You know they might see you,but they don't really know that
they're important.
So that's what I think one ofthe principles from John chapter

(13:32):
4 was, and also that goodleaders help people see a bigger
vision, and that's what Jesusdid with this woman, saw a
bigger vision of faith, andbecause of that she became, like
you said, an evangelist for himRight yeah.
And so then it says the peoplecame to see Jesus and then they

(13:55):
believed because of what theyheard, not because of what she
had told them.
So if you encourage people tohave a vision in your
organization and they share thatwith other people and then you
spend time with them, then youget to impart that vision
directly to them and then theycatch on and just multiplies.

(14:17):
So that's part of it.
You don't want to just do thatas a oh, I checked off the list.
I spent some time with thisgroup of people.
I can check it off the list andI don't have to worry about it
for you.
No, you want to see hey, thesepeople are valuable.
They're the one that are reallymaking the work done.
They get the.
You know they're one that aremaking us the money and I want

(14:38):
to just say thank you for doingwhat you do and doing it well.
And you might not be able togive them a raise because, for
whatever reason, but if you givethem your time and let them
know that they are worth, youknow they're valuable, that will
go a long, long way.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
It really will.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
It does, so we get to chapter five.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Chapter five.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Yeah, we see that there was a man who was
paralyzed and he'd been there along time and the tradition was
38 years is what the story is.
I know 38 years, and thetradition was that they would be
around this pool and thatangels would stir the water and

(15:24):
whoever got in the water firstwould be healed.
And this man was paralyzed andso he couldn't actually get into
the water, and Jesus comes upto him in John chapter 5.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, he challenges him.
Right, he does challenge them.
Do you want to get well?

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah, and that is such a powerful statement, One
of the most powerful things thatJesus says to anybody, because
sometimes we're in a positionthat we've been in a long time
and we don't want anything tochange.
We don't want anything to getbetter, because that might be
more work for us.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
People don't like change in general right.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
They're hesitant for change.
And so Jesus talks to this man, obviously not in a condemning
way, but in a very compassionateway Do you want to get well?
And the man had been in thatposition for so long.
It's like I don't have anybodyputting me in the water.
I'm not talking about that.

(16:29):
Do you want to get well?
And so there's theologicallywe'll go into this real quickly
there was really two types ofwellness, okay, that Jesus, you
know, was talking about.

(16:51):
One was a physical wellness andthe other one was an emotional
wellness, because, after 38years of being in that condition
, there's a high probability hedidn't think anybody cared for
him.
There's a high probability hedidn't think anybody cared for
him.
And Jesus was saying hey, ifyou want to be well, I'm the
person who can do that for you.
I care enough about you that Ican change your life.

(17:14):
And so he did.
And the man walked.
And so it's like the leadershipprinciple is that good leaders.
At least one of the principlesI see in this is that good
leaders help people seepossibilities that they might
not be able to see forthemselves.

(17:34):
And this man's obviously 38years.
He was stuck there.
His vision was really shallow.
He had had hope and had beencrushed time after time after
time.
And so no wonder he couldn'tsee beyond the immediate
circumstance.
Jesus comes in and just says, hey, I want to give you
something bigger.

(17:55):
And he probably doubted him.
But then Jesus proved him thathe was right and and it changed
the man's life.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
And so yeah, I was thinking from a leadership.
He had to ask the hardquestions.
You know that I mean it goesinto having accountability and
responsibility for your actions.
Right, do you want to gethealed, do you want to get well?
And you have to make thatcommitment to yourself first
before you can move forward.

(18:24):
You know it's how many timesthe leaders we see potential in
somebody and or we put them in a.
You know how many times havepeople been put in a leadership
program and I know 100% thatthey have no desire to ever be a
leader in this company, right, but somebody saw this.
They put them in there and theydon't have the desire.

(18:44):
They just said, hey, you'vebeen here the longest, you go to
this leadership class and allthat stuff, and that's not the
way to do it.
Where you have all these peoplethat are, you're just wanting
to be in it.
I was in a committee, one of thefirst leadership classes I've
took you know, 20, 30 years ago,and there was two or three of
us were just passionateleadership, passionate education

(19:04):
, and you know, they neededvolunteers and we instantly
raised our hand.
They're like, well, let's like, let's take a vote on it.
And you know, and the peopleended up voting these other
three people and we were like, really, I mean we.
I mean they're like we don'treally want to do this and I'm
like, well, yeah, what did thathappen?
They ended up not doing it, weended up doing it but it was six

(19:26):
months later we had to pick upall the pieces because they
didn't want to do it.
They just got nominated and I'mlike we were all volunteering
because that was our passion andand uh.
But yeah, that happens a lot oftimes from a leadership
standpoint, yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
And so if you have someone in your organization
I've worked with people thathave been in the same job for 38
years.
I mean, I was a pastor for 45.
So you do the same thing everyday.
You do it faithfully for 38years.
You have your routine, you haveyour schedule.
Everything's kind of rote.
You just kind of do it, do it,do it.
And then someone comes alongand says, hey, I want to show

(20:03):
you how to maybe do this better.
There could be some serioushesitation, resistance, and so
the thing that is important forleadership if you're going to do
that with somebody, you have toearn the right to be heard, and

(20:24):
so you need to be sure you havea relationship with that person
, not just come in and be theboss and say this kind of stuff.
You've got to really establishthat relationship.
Just like going into the oceanyou just slowly put your feet in
, then your ankles, then yourknees, then your waist.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Making me cold thinking about it.
And you?

Speaker 2 (20:48):
just kind of slowly move to that position.
It's like a church choirdirector told me one time he got
a job at a church and he knewthe first time he went in there
that the piano was on the wrongside of the stage, or the
chancel as officially you callit.
And he said I wanted to movethe piano to the other side, but

(21:11):
I knew if I just did it then itwould cause all kinds of issues
because people were used tolooking at it over there.
So he said I just moved it oneinch a week.
And he said before long it wasin the middle.
And then I just kind of startedmoving it more and more and
more and he said it took a while, but eventually the piano was
on the other side and no onenoticed.

(21:32):
And I'm thinking that's how goodleaders do it.
So if you want someone who'sbeen doing something for 38
years, jesus came in and said, hey, do you want to be well?
And he just did it.
But we might not have thatopportunity.
So just small, baby steps, babysteps, baby steps and
eventually you'll get there.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Yeah, and I have a question about this in my
research and I don't know theanswer.
And I don't know the answer.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
When he healed the man he healed on the Sabbath,
and that was forbidden.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
right, right, no work on the Sabbath.
Yeah, yeah, no work on theSabbath.
But I mean, you would thinkhealing would be part of the
Sabbath in a way.
Right, wouldn't that fall intothe?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
But that's when the religious leaders had a lot of
trouble with that.
There were some rules aboutwhat you could do on the Sabbath
, what you couldn't do on theSabbath.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I mean, I don't think it said non-healing on the
Sabbath?

Speaker 2 (22:26):
No, but it was considered work.
Was it really?
It was work.
That's why I was curious.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
I was like that just doesn't you know, when I was
reading, I was work, you know.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
And Jesus turned that whole thing on its head and
said you know how many of you,if you had a sheep or donkey and
was in a pit, would go out onthe Sabbath and pull it out of
the pit.
So why can't I pull this manout of a pit?
He's been there 38 years Now.
That's not what we said forthat situation, that situation.
But he was constantly trying totake a rule and turn it on its

(23:00):
head to think you know, we'vegot to think of the person first
and the rule second.
And a lot of times they werethinking of the rule first and
the person second.
So he said you know, we've gotto think of the person, what's
best for the person?
And Jesus was there, he tookthe opportunity and it didn't
matter to him what day it was itmattered to the religious

(23:23):
leaders, but not to him.
He said I'm going to heal thisguy because he's ready to be
healed.
And so I don't know how many ofour listeners watch the series
called the Chosen, but thisparticular scene is in one of
the episodes in one of theseasons.
I don't remember what season itis, and it is very, very

(23:43):
powerful about how they do that.
And so if you've seen theChosen, you know what I'm
talking about.
If you haven't, I would say Ithink they finished season five
now and they're getting on readyto.
They're producing season sixright now, which is going to be
phenomenal.
It's all phenomenal.
I encourage you, if you haven'twatched it, go back to season

(24:06):
one and watch episode one seasonone and go from there, because
there's a lot of characterdevelopment.
And if you don't know what theChosen is about, it's really the
backstory of these first fourbooks of the Bible.
So it's like, okay, you havePeter and Andrew and James and
John and you know John theBaptist, but it's like there's

(24:26):
so much that's not in the Bible.
How did Peter and Andrew andJames and John, what did they do
before they met Jesus?
You know Mary Magdalene, whatdid she do before she met Jesus?
And so the writers of theChosen just brilliant
imagination.
And the cinematography isincredible.

(24:48):
The actors and actresses areamazing and they just tell the
story of what they believe couldhave happened, of these people
and their everyday lives beforeand after they met Jesus.
And it's just, it's not theonly thing out there, but it is
really really worth your time.

(25:08):
It's really really good.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
So, anyway, that's exciting, yeah, very exciting.
One more thing on this, andwe're finishing up the chapter,
chapter five, here.
Yeah, chapter five.
One of the other leadershipthings I pulled out of this was
lead with authority, notpopularity, and I think this
summarized a lot on Jesus andhis journey, didn't it?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Yes, it did, and so he was.
Because when he taught, it wascommon to read in the Bible that
this person teaches withauthority, not as one of our
scribes or Pharisees.
And then they think where didhe get all this teaching?
Well, he was God.
I mean, he just knew it.
He was wise.
And so one last thing I want tothrow in that good leaders and

(25:50):
we're talking about this manhealing, but I think it's a
great principle Good leadershelp people see that their
current situation does not haveto be their final situation.
That's great, yeah, and sothat's what Jesus was seeing.
This man, he'd been there 38years.
Hey, you don't have to staylike this, you know, and if you
come in, you're a new leader to.

(26:10):
Let's just say, you lead asoftball team.
You lost every game last year.
Hey, we're not going to do that, we're going to work hard.
You know year?
Hey, we're not going to do that, we're going to work hard.
We might lose some sum, butwhat happened last year is not
going to define us.
And so good leaders help peoplesee a bigger vision, bigger
possibilities, and so that wasgood.
Chapter five Chapter five.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
There you go, yeah, yeah.
Well, that's awesome.
I guess we're just going to tryto do one, one a week, right?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
So probably just one chapter a week and the book of
John.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
So there's so much to really unwrap on some of these,
these chapters and these booksand stuff, and it's just these
chapters.
I'm just like, yeah, okay, it'sfascinating.
I mean this, this, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
It's fascinating, it is.
This is such amazing.
It's amazing and we areliterally just scratching the
surface.
Oh yeah, I mean we're justscratching the surface.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
I mean we're literally yeah, we could do a
deep dive on, we would be back acouple books in right now.
If we were doing a deep dive onall this, we'd be still in the
book of Genesis if we were doingthis, but we're enjoying it and
we appreciate our audience.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
And, speaking of that , before we finish out the show,
we got about 40 minutes of dadjokes because it is our second
anniversary right, we got tothrow in some dad jokes, so I
just want to confess to ouraudience that I used to be
addicted to soap.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Yeah but I'm clean now, okay, what has five toes,
but isn't your foot, oh boy uh,five toes, but isn't your foot?
But isn't your foot?

Speaker 1 (27:52):
oh, my foot, yeah I was forming the words.
It's sort of like why can'tyour hand be 12 inches long?

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Because then it'd be a foot, then it'd be a foot.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Yeah, so speaking of that, I, used to.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
you know, I played guitar for a long time.
I play at guitar and I still do, but I used to play piano by
ear, but now I just use my hands.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
but now, I just use my hands.
Why are pigs?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
bad at sports Because they hog the plate, hog the
ball.
Oh, they hog the ball.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Almost had it.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Okay.
So Johnny Cash.
What a great musician he was.
Oh my goodness, he enjoyedplaying in prisons.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
You know why why.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Because he loved a captive audience.
I like that.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
I like Johnny Cash.
I think he did great there.
All right, my last one.
I'll let you wrap up with acouple.
What do you call an?
Alligator in a vest yes, don'tknow, an investigator,
investigator okay, what do youcall a skilled bird?

(29:08):
Skilled bird uh don't know.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
talented, talented, talented.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
One more.
It closes out.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
One more, one more.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Oh, he's like, why not 12?
How do you talk to a giant?

Speaker 2 (29:27):
You look up.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
You use big words?
Oh, you do.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Okay, okay, that's probably good, you know.
Okay, we've said this before, but it's worth repeating.
It's probably not, but you knowwhy you shouldn't write with a
dull pencil.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
I've heard this one yeah because it's pointless.
Pointless.
Yeah, my kids told me that, sowas that joke it was.
All right, guys, I appreciateyou.
Thank you for hanging out withus.
I don't know how long you'vebeen hanging out.
I know we've had a lot ofpeople hanging out from the very
beginning that have caught upand downloaded from the very
beginning so two years.
Thank you, Dr P, for bringingin treats.

(30:07):
Oh gosh, yes, that's great forsugaring us up and getting us
going today, but other than that, keep hanging out with us.
We plan on doing a lot morestuff and by our third year
we'll try to get through John.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Yeah but you know the thing about it is there
iseverybody who reads the Bible.
Okay, and I'm just trying to beserious for a few minutes.
Everybody that reads the Biblealready has a built-in filter.
Yeah, okay.
Now, in my career as a pastor, one of the number one questions

(30:48):
I was asked for almost 45 yearsand I try to address this every
week when I preach this is thequestion how does the Bible
apply to my life today?
Okay, and so I tried to addressthat.
Whether I was teaching a Biblestudy, whether I was preaching,
whatever, I think that's whatthis show is trying to do.
It was saying, okay, if you'rea leader and you want to read

(31:11):
the Bible, I encourage you toput on your leadership filter
and say, okay, not just read theBible, to read and say I
checked it off, I read the Bible.
What is this teaching me abouthow to be a better leader?
And if you go into that and youpray about that before you even

(31:31):
open your Bible, lord, give methe heart and eyes to see a
leadership principle that I canapply your truth to my life
today.
You'd be amazed that beforelong you're going to see stuff
that you have never seen before.
And I would say, when you readthe Bible, just read maybe one

(31:55):
chapter.
Like for me, I read one chapterin the Old Testament, one
chapter in the New Testamentevery morning.
I keep a logbook of doing that, but I don't just read it to
read it, I read and go.
Even though I've read it manytimes, I'm thinking what can I
learn from that today?
Because I'm in a differentplace today than I was the last

(32:16):
time I read that same chaptertoday, than I was the last time
I read that same chapter.
And it's like, okay, what can Ilearn from this that I can
still apply to my life.
And if we go into reading theBible with that filter on, we
will all be amazed at what wecan learn.
And it could be somethingreally, really small, but it

(32:39):
could be very, very powerful ifyou continue to do that.
And good leaders, one of theprinciples or one of the
characteristics is they'reconsistent.
They're consistent in theirhabits, they're consistent in
their compassion for the peoplepeople and so if you just take
one new habit that you implementlike we talked about, you know,

(33:01):
helping people see a biggervision you just take that one
and say, okay, how can I help mysales people see a bigger
vision?
It might not be that they makemore money, but maybe they see a
bigger vision of their role, ofhelping their customers.
Or how can I help my accountingpeople or my you know, my
ordering people or whatever mywarehouse manager?
How can I help my accountingpeople or my ordering people or
whatever my warehouse manager, how can I help them see a bigger

(33:24):
vision?
If that is your goal and thenyou really pray for that, I
believe God's going to give youthe wisdom and insight on how to
do that.
So that's what our show, Ibelieve, is part of all about.
Yes, we do the dad jokes andyes, today we had snacks, but
it's really about helping peopleto implement truths from the

(33:45):
Scripture into their daily lives, and we enjoy it.
We really enjoy it.
We're glad to be here.
Thank you so much for youspending time your precious time
with us.
Please tell someone else aboutthe Biblical Leadership Show and
we look forward to seeing younext week For sure.
All right.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
All right, dr Brady, take us out with your famous
stuff.
Make it a great day.
Thank you, guys.
Look forward to seeing you nextweek.
Bye-bye, bye-bye, bye.
