On Episode 51, we delve into the story of Agha Hasan Abedi and The Bank Of Credit and Commerce International, which has been described as one of the biggest banking scandals in history, including fraud and money laundering. at it's height, BCCI collected more than $20 billion dollars in deposits, and a good case can be made, that in effect, all of that money was collected fraudulently, more than that, BCCI was a revolution for banking as a whole, as they were really one of the first international financial institutions, and with their incredibly decentralized operating structure, they were able to circumvent the typical rules of banking, creating a safe haven for those who couldnt afford their money being scrutinized, including the Medellin Cartel, multiple military dictators, and even the CIA. I hope everyone enjoys today's show and tunes back in next week for Episode 52.
