Welcome back to The Blight Bat: The Light Bat Podcast! I am so happy to welcome David J. Roth of Defector Media to the show. David is one of my very favorite sportswriters, and his recent* turn as one of the internet's most thoughtful and insightful commentators on our current times has been a huge benefit to us all.

In the show we discuss the similarities and disparities between our respective cursed (and current first place-residing) baseball teams. After some lovely chit chat bringing each other up to speed on the how/why of the 2025 Mariners/Mets, we get into the nitty gritty of how the venal nature of upper management and ownership classes allows for continued market inefficiencies. The show wraps up with what can only be described as a lovely examination of the New York Giants QB room. All in all, a triumph.

Huge thanks to David for his time. Please check out and support Defector and the Distraction podcast.

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
