In this episode, I talk about one of the hardest truths of deliverance — the cost of freedom. After years of exorcism ministry, I’ve seen the same pattern over and over again: people want the pain to stop, but they don’t want to die to self. They want the demons gone but hold on to the sin, resentment, and comfort that keep the doors open.

I share what it really means to “take up your cross daily” and why Christianity is a call to die — to pride, bitterness, and compromise. Freedom isn’t free; it costs surrender. I walk you through how addictions become a form of worship, why many deliverances fail, and how counting the cost leads to true change that lasts.

If you’ve ever wondered why certain areas of your life still feel bound, this message will challenge you to look deeper. It’s time to hand God the pen, let Him rewrite your story, and finally walk in the destiny He designed for you.

Text this episode to someone who needs a push toward freedom and tell them, “Listen to this and see what you think.”

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to episode 36 of the Blind Exorcist
Podcast.
I am Justin D.
Your host.
Thank you so much for comingback, and I am so excited to be
here with you today.
And if you're new to thepodcast, welcome to the fam.

(00:22):
Okay, here's the deal.
Lately, I am in a lull ofgetting somebody to come onto
the podcast and share theirstory.
Why is that?
To be honest with you, it takesa special person to come on here
and disclose their trauma, theirlife, their possession, and

(00:42):
their freedom journey.
So not everybody that I workwith is willing to do that.
So the clients that I've workedwith over the past few months
have not been up for sharingtheir story.
And this is fine.
I respect that and I admiretheir honesty and I appreciate

(01:04):
it.
Until I can get somebody willingto share their story and
testimony with you, I'm going tobe bringing some small teachings
from me to you, which I thinkwill bring a lot of value to
your understanding and perhapseven to your life when it comes
to spiritual warfare, demons, and all that stuff.

(01:25):
But I also have somethingpending that's quite special
that I think you're going toreally appreciate.
I've never done it on thepodcast yet.
So it's still in the making.
And when that comes live, you'llknow what it is.
Trust me.
Okay.
So I got a little something inthe works.

(01:47):
So today I wanted to hop on herereal quick with a little
teaching.
And I encourage you, if you'venever visited my website and
read my blog posts, I wouldencourage you to go to
justindee.com forward slashexplore.

(02:08):
Again, that's justindee.comforward slash explore.
There you can toggle between theblind exorcist podcast where you
can see them all and listen tothem, and you can toggle to
Frontline, which are blogarticles that I've written about
spiritual warfare.
And I encourage you to checkthose out.

(02:30):
And I've also got some articlesI've been putting together
called Truth Unfiltered.
And this is basically anythingthat doesn't fit into a podcast
or straight up hardcorespiritual warfare.
Truth Unfiltered is going to bea lot of fun.
I'm excited to begin buildingthat over time.
Things like can a Christian havea demon?

(02:52):
Or how is it possible for aChristian to have a generational
curse?
Things like this.
And just some really coolteachings.
So now for today, I want to takea little bit of time and just
share from my heart what I'venoticed as an exorcist over the
past three years of me doingthis.

(03:13):
And I had a year and a half oftraining before that.
So this isn't about, ooh, I'mhighly credentialed here.
I'm just letting you know I'vebeen doing this long enough that
I've seen some patterns.
Old Justin D has seen somepatterns, and I want to share

(03:33):
them with you for encouragementand to challenge you.
It is amazing to me the peoplethat come for deliverance that
want to do it their way.
What do I mean by that?
They don't want to give up sinin their life, but they want the

(03:55):
pain to go away.
They're demons.
And also they, it might not evenbe sin.
It's just an area of their lifethat they don't want to give up
that allows demons to stay.
And so I'll hear things likethey still want to use edibles
and they're smoking marijuana,or maybe they're sleeping with

(04:16):
their boyfriend or girlfriend.
And these are Christians that goto church, and you know, like
this is okay.
And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
The Bible's real clear on thisthat it's sin, like you don't
have sex before marriage.
Like this is Christianity 101.
But in our culture today, it'sjust for whatever reason, people

(04:39):
have lost the core concept ofsin.
God gives us grace so that wecan grow not to sin.
Does that make sense?
You know, a lot of people'slike, oh, I'm gonna go get
hammered and, you know, bangsomeone and have sex, and Jesus
will forgive me.
No, that's not the idea ofgrace.

(05:00):
So the idea as a Christian isthat you are following the
teachings of Christ.
Christianity is a religion ofdeath.
Let me explain to you what Imean by this, okay?
Hear me out.
You have to die to self.
Christianity is a religion ofself-denial, right?

(05:25):
Jesus straight up said, whoeverwants to be greatest in the
kingdom of God must be servantto all.
Well, if you're gonna be aservant, you're gonna have to
die to a lot of stuff in life.
And so there lies the problemwhen it comes to freedom and

(05:48):
exorcism.
People don't want to die, theydon't want to die to the things
in their life that they clingto.
And so as a result of that, theycan't get free.
So you may have met people oryou've come across people where,
hey, I've been throughdeliverance, it didn't work.

(06:08):
And my question is is do youhave things in your life that
you know you're supposed to giveup and you can't?
And a lot of times those thingsaren't necessarily blatant sins,
like what we think about drugsand alcoholism and occult
practices and all that stuff.
Sometimes and oftentimes, it'swhat's going on on the inside,

(06:33):
the resentment, the anger, thebitterness that you're gonna
hold on to because you don'twant to let it go.
And so demons have a right tostay.
Pride, that's huge.
Every human being suffers frompride.
But are you willing to give thatup?
Are you willing to say thatsomebody's better than you?

(06:54):
Because the Bible tells us toesteem others better than
yourself.
So this is the tricky part offreedom.
I just want to challenge you asa Christian.
If you truly want freedom, youhave to serve Jesus Christ with

(07:14):
your whole heart.
Christianity is saying to JesusChrist, I here's my pen and
here's my tablet where I've beenwriting my own story.
Justin's gonna drink alcohol, agallon of Captain Rum a week,
right?
So I'm writing my own story.

(07:36):
He's gonna date these women andsleep with them.
I'm writing my own story.
He's gonna do some marijuana.
I'm writing my own story, I'mdoing my own life story.
If you haven't heard episodeone, you should.
It's my story.
Overcoming the darkness.
At a certain point, you have totake that pen and that pad and

(08:00):
let God, Jesus Christ, and theHoly Spirit write your story.
Got that?
That's key.
Gotta give up.
Give up the control, give up thedepression you're holding on to,
give up the fear, give up thehatred of men, hatred of women,

(08:23):
give up all the comfort thingsthat you use, the addictions,
addictions to food, pornography,gambling, whatever.
Addiction is a form of worship.
So what you're doing instead, and this is not designed to put
shame or guilt on you, likeGod's been dealing with me on
this, because when I'm inemotional stress, I tend to

(08:46):
gravitate toward food.
In my story, I talk about how Iused to be a binge eater and I
got delivered from that.
But my psychological dispositionis gravitate toward food if
you're not feeling well.
Maybe you have a lot of stress, maybe you're exhausted.
So I tend to gravitate towardfoods, or if I'm just stressed

(09:07):
out.
And so God's, hey man, like youare going to it, aka food, for
comfort.
Who's your God?
And I'm like, You are exactly.
So why aren't you coming to me?
And there's the issue.
When you go to your addiction, craziness, dude.

(09:28):
The things I like, I know somany Christian women that every
night drink an entire bottle ofwine and think that's okay.
And they're not alcoholic.
They've lied to themselves, andoh, this is just what the girls
do after work, or this is whatthe girls do to relax.
Sure, one or two glasses, okay.

(09:49):
I'm not that guy.
I was an alcoholic, so I can'thave one or two glasses.
I'm real with myself, and I'mnot gonna open that door up for
Satan.
But an entire bottle of winegoing to something that's going
to comfort you rather than toGod.

(10:10):
Or really, what it boils down isto sacrificing self.
I'm not gonna use X, Y, and Zaddiction to comfort myself.
I'm gonna go self-improve.
I'm gonna go to therapy, figureout why I'm messed up, why I
have all this baggage.
Oh, and then I'm gonna go for anexorcism so that I can get the

(10:33):
demons out that are tormentingme from my trauma.
Okay.
So I guess, in short, with allof this being said, I'm I'm
throwing a lot out to you guysto challenge you.
And maybe you have been walkingwith the Lord for a long time,
but there's still areas in yourlife that are in bondage.
There's always a reason forthat.

(10:54):
And it always comes back to usnot willing to die.
Not meaning, meaning, Jesussaid, take up your cross daily
and follow me.
This is what I mean by dying, not committing suicide and
jumping off the roof of abuilding, okay?
Take up your cross daily andfollow me.
Crucifying your desire.

(11:16):
Colossians chapter three, Paulsays, put on the new nature.
Put it on.
Peace, love, joy, God, right?
All this stuff.
Put it on.
You've left behind the oldnature, the old lifestyle.
This is what it takes.
Crucifying the sinful nature,crucifying selfishness,

(11:38):
crucifying being judgmental, bitter, whatever it is, right?
We all know what's wrong.
We just don't want to fix it.
Isn't that the truth?
We all know what's wrong on theinside of us.
We know when we're holding on tobitterness.
We know when we're not doingright before God.

(11:58):
We lie to ourselves, we makeexcuses and compromise,
compromise.
And then demons get in anddemons get in.
So take up your cross daily andfollow me.
This is what Jesus said.
And Jesus also said, count thecost when he gave a parable.
You can look it up where he's,hey man, before someone goes out
and builds like a big house orwhatever, going to build

(12:22):
something, they count the costbecause they don't want to go
out and start building this bigthing and then realize, hey,
this is too much.
I stop.
This is why Jesus says to countthe cost, because it's going to
cost you, right?
Jesus Christ said, I mean, clearly, unless you give up your

(12:45):
life, you're not going to findit.
Whoever loves mother, daughtermore than me isn't worthy of me.
Whoever loves father more thanme isn't worthy of me.
And on and on he goes.
And he said, Whoever not willingto give up their life for me is
not worthy of me.
This is in the Bible.

(13:06):
Like, I'm not making this up.
So this is it.
You want to be free from demons?
You gotta die and crucify whatyou're holding on to.
Whatever it is.
And you know as well as I knowwhat that is.
No judgment here, guys.
Remember what I've always said?

(13:28):
This ministry is raw and real.
This is the streets, this isliving Christianity out in real
life, real trauma, real mess, but being delivered, healed, and
walking in your destiny.
Is your destiny really buyingthe person's McDonald's that's

(13:52):
behind you in line?
Is that really the best you cando?
There's I'm not judging, I'mjust saying, like, we all have
been created with a destiny anda purpose.
And when we hold on to traumaand we're like, I'm not
changing, or I'm not going fortherapy, I'm not going for

(14:14):
exorcism, I'm just gonna keepsitting and doing a little bit
of Jesus, doing a little bit ofthe world, and just lazzie,
da-da, all through life, you'renever hit your destiny.
You'll never complete it.
And God's got something for youto do.
And it's not buying somebody acheeseburger behind you in
McDonald's.
Okay, cool.

(14:34):
That's cool.
It's giving, it's charitable,that's great.
But so you pay for the meal anddrive off.
That's it.
It's not like you're getting outand sharing the message of
salvation and so forth.
So, this is what I'm saying.
Like, there's all of this kindof stuff in our culture that's

(14:55):
kind and nice, not saying don'tdo it, but it's not our destiny.
So many people don't have a cluewhat their destiny is because
they're holding on to theirdemons and they're holding on to
trauma and they're holding on tosin.
How many people I've worked withthat are unwilling to give up a
partner, a sexual partner?

(15:16):
Unwilling.
Unwilling.
So they want to live in sin, they want to live and just have
sex and act like they'reChristians, and it doesn't work.
I've actually had to tellclients, I'm sorry, I can't
continue with you.
This is not worth your time ormy time.
And I've just refunded them.
I'm gonna work with people whohave hit the bottom because I'm

(15:40):
serious, dude.
This is you better be at thebottom to come see me in wanting
freedom.
And the people that I'd say 99%of the people that do, they're
dead serious.
Like the people I work with, they are furious at Satan.
They hate them, and they'relike, whatever I gotta do to
change, I'll do it.

(16:00):
Whatever, it doesn't matter.
They're throwing more stuff outof their homes than I could
shake a stick at.
These people are serious, man.
They're I'm working with a womanright now, cut the boyfriend
off, been with them for quite afew years, maybe three years.
Says, we're done.
I'm serving Christ, and this guywas in the occult, and she's

(16:23):
like, I'm done.
Cut him off, went through herexorcisms and therapy, going to
church.
She hit the reset button.
Hallelujah.
So, anyhow, I hope you foundsome of this encouraging,
inspiring.
Just really the main point ofall of my rambling here is it

(16:43):
costs you to be free.
It costs you personally to befree.
Taking up that cross daily anddying and being willing to let
go of everything for JesusChrist so you can be free.
Well, I appreciate you tuningin.
I hope you found someencouragement and some challenge

(17:04):
in this today.
And if you know somebody whocould use some encouragement and
challenge, I encourage you totext this episode to them and
say, check this out.
See what you think.
All right.
So until next time, keep servingChrist.
Work on letting things go andwork on improving yourself

(17:28):
through Christ so that you canwalk in the destiny that Jesus
Christ has called you tocomplete before you draw your
last breath.
