different. We are going to focus on
teaching females the male grooming standards.
As an NCO or future NCO, it's imperative that you know the

Most people have a good grasp ofthe grooming standards that
apply to them, but in order to instill good order and
discipline and morale, you need to know the grooming standards
of others as well. Falsely accusing a soldier of
not maintaining the standards degrades moral and trust, 2

crucial elements of the war fighting function.
On the flip side, failing to uphold the standards can lead to
protective equipment not functioning correctly, a loss of
professional image and presence,and hard feelings from other
soldiers. As a junior enlisted soldier,
you can get away with saying that it doesn't apply to you.
As an NCO, that is no longer excusable.
