(00:03):
We only had the Bev car come through once.
So then we're standing in the tee box wondering if those cash.
Back up to. Us again to us, because the base
of play up there was low, but that group let us play through.

(00:23):
All right. Good morning, Michael.
This is our first time doing a morning recording.
How do you feel? Early morning Early morning
reviews. I've got, I've got coffee.
In hand, it's raining outside. Through the window.
I am. A little bit of Thunder.
It's just energizing and also I'm slightly damp because it

(00:46):
started raining outside and realized we were not prepared in
our backyard. So I had to.
Grab stuff. Yeah, I I love when that
happens. You hear the thunders are going
and you're like I got all this stuff outside so then you got to
do the mad mad pre rain dash. Hopefully you get everything.

(01:07):
Well, I did not get everything before the rain, so it was a
little wet, but I feel like moreand more I can be disconnected
from the weather. So somebody told me earlier this
week that it was going to be a heat index of like 104° or

(01:27):
something outrageous, only for me to realize I've not looked at
the weather and I am going to beoutside working on my deck.
We're, we're tearing off our deck and doing a deck remodel.
So we, we will be working in theheat.
And actually I'm trying to recruit brothers and my brothers
trying to recruit a brother. So you might be over in the

(01:51):
house, recruited not by me, but. That that is possible.
Not exactly sure what what's going to happen, but we've got,
we've got my middle child's birthday next Wednesday.

(02:15):
So we may be busy one day this weekend, but we'll see.
Celebrating. A little, yeah.
So. So speak, you know.
Speaking of. Celebrating a little early.
Did you watch any of? The Open champions.
I caught the first day, a lot ofthe first day and then just just

(02:36):
highlights. I haven't.
I didn't get the chance to really sit down and watch it.
Well, I can tell. You, the people who were.
Not celebrating early, and that's everybody.
Other than Guy Scheffler. It's.
I don't think we've seen a run like this of somebody that's
just dominated since Tiger. And and it's crazy how much all

(03:00):
the stats are coming and lining up because I read something that
like the time between their lasttwo majors is like down to the
day between their first major and their fourth major.
Oh yeah. And and.
Yes, and and he's. Also, just such a.
Down to earth, guy. He, he is somebody that I feel

(03:24):
like anybody can root for. You know, he's the way that he
just handles himself in the way that he's, he just seemed like a
genuine guy. He's always got his kids with
him or his, his son and he just,he seems like a such a great
guy. He's so easy to root for.
Well, and. Did you watch his?

(03:46):
Press conference where you know,he, he went into a kind of a
deep conversation about, you know, what happens when you win
and you're world #1 and you knowhe's talking about he's.
Literally worked all his life. For this one thing.
And then you have a moment of celebration and it's such an

(04:07):
amazing moment, and then all of a sudden it's like, OK, where
are we going to go eat dinner? You know what?
The life. Goes on.
I mean, here he's. The best?
Golfer in the world right now. He's been at at #1 for weeks and
weeks and for him to. To put that out there.

(04:27):
And I don't, you know, he kind of burst on the scene.
I don't know that he was a household name, you know, two
years ago. So I you forget the amount of
work and effort that people haveput in.
To get to. Where they're at right now and
to have that competitive drive and that work ethic, but then

(04:50):
still. Have a perspective.
On what's really important and II love.
The the clips. You know, with him and his son,
little guy talking around out there and they don't.
It's always interesting to see how golfers celebrate after a
win and the fact that he's, you know.
Excited to have his little guy. Up there and and his wife is

(05:12):
there and they're not chewing him away or any of that kind.
Of stuff he's always got his. I saw when he went in to to sign
the scorecard, he gave his yardage book to his kid to play
with while he was signing his scorecard and.
Chew on a little bit. Yeah, it's, it's a good thing.
I think it's good for the game. You know, at the same time, when

(05:35):
you have like, you know, obviously golf can be a very
emotional sport and he, you know, he gets frustrated just
like everybody else. And, and in his press
conference, he talks about like how he doesn't understand why he
wants to win the Open so badly. He but he does.
And but then at the same time, like, like you were saying that

(05:56):
when it's over, then it's like, OK, now what's next?
You know, it's always but that that if there was ever a time
where he felt like the golf gamewas going to be, you know, and
and frenzied on his family, his family comes first, which is
something that's pretty awesome to see out of a a athlete of
that caliper. Oh yeah, yeah.

(06:20):
It's also I saw a. Couple, you know, memes or
conversations floating around where.
He here, he's. Interviewed, and he talks about,
you know, winning is great, yeah, but then what?
And almost like it's not that important.
And then he goes out and dominates.
Everybody else on the course, that's a great way to strike

(06:42):
fear into the heart of your opponents.
It's crazy because like I've seen clubs too where he like
he's doing the Scotty, his Scotty Shuffle, you know, and
we're like, this is the world. The shuffler shuffle, Yeah,
world number one, I did OK, so this.
Is a moment of honesty here after he won at the Open I have

(07:07):
been wanting to get a new. Pair of golf shoes.
And so the first thing. He did was Google what golf
shoes this guy he wears. Nikes, doesn't he?
He does wear Nikes. Yeah, he worked with.
He worked. With Nike on a collaboration for
his own shoe. But I just was curious with the
shuffling shuffle. You know what?

(07:32):
They they're soft well. You know, I don't know, at what
point do they consider them hardspikes?
But he does have a spiked. Shoe at the removable spike.
When I feel any worse, the spikes on the front.
Toes, that's a good question. Give him.
Give his. Back leg out like that.

(07:54):
I. Feel like, I feel like it could
be pretty difficult to do if, you know, if you got a spike in
there that can, I mean, I, they don't like me, you know, really
like set your foot like a cleat. But yeah, that'd be yeah.
It's interesting, yeah. It's interesting how how much

(08:15):
power you derive from the groundand you don't even.
Realize. But where?
Where I. Realize it, so I'm helping to
coach. High school girls golf this
fall. I've got.
Two daughters that are are. Involved and we went out for.

(08:36):
Just a a a practice. Session this summer with some of
the girls and some of them are new and two things that that
struck me while I was I was at the driving range.
My job was to just help with basic fundamentals of grip,
basic fundamentals of a golf swing, which I'm really good at
critiquing other people's gripping swinging.

(08:58):
I don't know so much about my own, but most beginners.
That I have watched. Including my own kids tend to
lean back and take. All the power off of.
Their lead foot and so just partof it was trying to explain
like, hey, don't you know, rotate your body?
Don't, don't. Lean your body back.

(09:19):
But then you watch these elites and they can press that ball so
much and use so much of the ground force, I mean.
That's why they're good. But it it's kind of interesting
to see. That's why they're good.
So Speaking of Speaking of Scotty winning, what is?
Your What's your favorite major?Do you have a?
Do you have a favorite? I would say it's the masters.

(09:44):
I mean, I don't think that there's anything else that's
like the masters. I I think that that's probably
the best out of all the majors. So every year I.
I usually do a couple just. Pools where, you know, I've got
a a friend who organizes a pool for each major and I like just

(10:10):
the engagement because you, you put money in and then you're,
you've got your players that you're rooting for.
It kind of gives you something to watch in addition to just the
general play you're rooting for.For a particular player.
And I've been on a dry spell andI came in second and won a few
$100.00 with the Open. That just happened.

(10:32):
So now at this point, my favorite tournament this year,
so. Far.
Is the open? But I will.
Say the Masters this year. It was probably.
One of the most exciting golf tournaments that that I've
watched and it was it was fun. You know we found a.

(10:54):
Course that I we could. Play on our SIM that mimicked
Augusta National and sort of be able to play that and then.
Also watch the golf. On the big screen out.
There too was was pretty good. Definitely next year for the
Masters, we need to do like a masters weekend and, and do the

(11:14):
same thing again because I, I think that the Masters is just
like the open is probably the second best for me every year.
I I would say like if it was, ifI was ranking, I might probably
rank them. Masters, Open, U.S., Open, PGA
Championship. Yeah.
I would probably agree with. That the Open has so much

(11:35):
history behind it, and it's somewhat relatable only because
I. Watched Rory hit his golf ball
out of the rough. And another golf ball bounced
up. I don't know if you saw those
highlight clips, so the relatable.
Part is that my? Golf ball would have.

(11:55):
Been the second. Ball, it's like what?
What's this? It was.
Yeah, that's mine. That was.
A pretty a pretty crazy thing tosee because he couldn't even see
the second one like which to be fair, like the rough that's that
was at the course that they justplayed wasn't nothing like the

(12:19):
one that was at the US Open at Oakmont.
Like at least if you. Were at.
Least if you're out of play, youcan like if you get a a good
break you're which a lot of theydid, they did get a lot of good
breaks there, but you at least you can get out of there
compared to at Oakmont where you're basically just trying to
you got to muscle it back, try to muscle it back into the

(12:39):
fairway and. Yeah, you're just trying to.
Survive but. Well, that enough talk about all
of that nonsense. We've we've got a course.
Review to do. Speaking of.
So it's an early. Morning recording This was an
early morning, an early morning golf outing that we did here.

(13:02):
It was, Yep. Yeah, so we we got up and went
and played Lake Windsor Country Club.
I had we we had decided to meet up and drive over right around
just after six and I get up and of course my my middle son is

(13:23):
awake and he wanted to come along and hang out with dad and
Uncle Mike. So we we took my middle child
along with us and and he hung out had a good time.
We had gotten early morning tee times in hopes that, you know,
we could get out there and play 18 really fast, but apparently

(13:45):
everybody in Madison decided to get that early morning 2 times
that day because it was not a very fast round.
Yeah, yes, yes. And we were paired with.
A couple of guys. Who you know right off, I am not
a good golfer. You are not a good.
Golfer, but we're I would say we.

(14:07):
Play pretty quick and. The guys that we were paired up
with. One was a complete novice.
I think he said he'd played, youknow, maybe once or twice in a
scramble or something like that.He just was picking it up.
And then he was out with his friend, who was also fairly,
fairly new. And I, I don't mind that at all.

(14:30):
The only time that I do mind it is if we're in a hurry.
To get around. Because it can take time when
you're new, which is, which is fine.
So we were paired up. With with those two and and your
son did a great job. He was.
He was. Pretty engaged throughout and

(14:52):
nobody. He didn't get anybody's way,
didn't Chuck any clubs or get hit by.
Yeah, that's always a good thing, yeah.
Brought his own 2 little golf golf clubs along and he he
wanted to to do some putting andsome stuff but you know that

(15:14):
that doesn't last for a super long time.
But he was just happy to be out and hanging out with the guys.
Oh yeah, yeah. So.
Lake Windsor Country Club, I think, is not necessarily.
A great course for. Beginners when it comes to
keeping the ball in play. But just a little bit about the

(15:34):
course itself. So the.
Course started in 1964 and it's had some changes that they note
that at one point it was a 27 hole facility, it's now 18 hole
and. They also used to have.
A. An in executive course.
That had a par 4A par 3. And a par 5 and.

(15:59):
I would actually. I my my office isn't too far
from there, so on my lunch break, I would go up and I
would. Play those three holes.
And from a. Practice facility was great
because you'd get, you'd get that.
Part 5 in there so you'd be ableto practice some long irons
you'd. Have the Part 3 they've.
Changed it and they've built a athletic facility so now they

(16:23):
just have the eighteen holes andthen it can play along.
So they I think the furthest. Tee.
Boxes are just under 7000 yards and it it has a course rating of
it. Plays a little bit.
Over par 73.3 so the biggest problem though.

(16:44):
Is that the Ahara? River runs through the course
and you can find water on 15 outof the eighteen holes.
And so if you are a beginner andyou're trying to keep it in
play, you're going to lose. You're going to.
I don't think I've ever played around.
There where I have. Yeah, I I lost a few it and it

(17:09):
was funny because I think most of the like, I think on most of
the holes in the beginning, likethe, the water is kind of just
just hanging out, you know, not really, not really too, too
crazy. And then I want to it's that

(17:29):
first part, the first par 5 S. Hole #2.
Is your first par 5 you? Hole number. 1 So it was I.
Think it's pretty easy. Hole #2 I had, I had gotten kind
of my drive, it kind of went offto the right and I and I had

(17:52):
made a good, I just chipped out of the, the trees and didn't
have a, a super long way hit a good 6 iron and I was expecting
to see a bounce. So it goes over a hill.
I was expecting to see a bounce and roll up onto the green and
there was no bounce. And I was like, what the heck.
Well, get up there and there wasthe, the river.

(18:15):
There's a pond that basically separates the green from the the
fairway, not all the way through, but for most of the way
I was like, I didn't even know that it was there.
Yeah, had that been just a fairway that rolled up onto the
green, you would have been on the green with your second.
Shot, but yeah, it's it's of course you have.

(18:36):
To plot your way around and you have to kind of think about.
What those obstacles are becauseof that, coupled with the fact
that they like to keep their rough.
Pretty long. So you have to.
Not, not crazy long. I think there's a difference
between right, between intentionally keeping it long

(19:00):
and then also just neglectful mowing.
So we'll talk a little. Bit about that but.
It does impact pace of. Play a little.
Because people are are not able to find their their golf ball.
Which is what we. We ran into.
I mean, it's like you can be right off the fairway and there
was, so when we play, there was still dew on the ground and

(19:22):
there, I don't know if you remember this, but there was 1
hole where I had hit a drive andit had literally you'd watch it
just go off the edge of the fairway.
We're driving around, we can't find my ball.
And then you were like, hey, let's see if we can find any run
marks in the dew. So we, yeah, up along the side
of it until we saw the run mark.It was right off the fairway and
you couldn't even see it. Yeah, it was literally right

(19:42):
there. Yeah, it was So Mike, tell us I
I wanted to hear your your honest and unbiased opinion
about their their practice range.
They said that they on their website, they say here that they
have a state-of-the-art practicefacility.
What do you? Yeah.

(20:05):
So state-of-the-art, I would putsome emphasis maybe on.
The art. Part and that art is mud.
Mud based art so. When you first pull into the
course, I would say generally. It does have a good feel to it.

(20:28):
It's kind of tucked away in a neighborhood.
They've done some some resurfacing of the.
Lot the clubhouse actually looks.
Lovely. It's got a nice drive up section
to it and then your practice facility.
Is just off to the. Left you can see hole #9 and and
18 both when you're pulling in. They're right here.

(20:49):
Next to the road so you get a good feel.
When you pull in. But the struggle is I.
Feel that does not carry throughto.
The quality of their practice. Area.
They've got a great putting green that's nice.
It's similar condition to what you're going to find out on the
course. But.

(21:10):
I have been there many times andit seems like every time I go
there they do not take care of their driving range and they do
not take. Care of their range.
Balls and it's not cheap I think.
I think it's 12. Bucks for a bag of.
Balls now and I and I, I almost feel like they only have one
size bag. So you you go there.

(21:33):
Expecting to be. Able to have.
You know, range session and. Every other ball is covered in.
Mud or or we had balls that werebroken or broken.
They're just unhittable. Yeah, I mean, I can't many times
because I. I work close.

(21:54):
Enough that coming up there and trying to get in a range
session. That's the closest practice area
that has a real grass. Range or that has short range
section. But it's disappointing that
every time I go. There it it's just.
Poorly kept and the range. Field that where you're.

(22:15):
Hitting out on. Is it is low?
So it tends to get wet and I think that's.
Probably the the. Case for the course in general,
there's a number of holes that if it has been rainy or or wet.
You've got the river. Bottom through there, you know,
they don't have the ability to get that drained quickly.

(22:36):
So I'm sure that there's some challenges from that
perspective. But I do feel like their ability
to get it, it should. It's not rocket science to make
sure. That you have a good way to
wash. Your range balls.
Clean it. Make sure that it's
appropriately ready for the people who are paying money.

(23:00):
So that that is. A point of frustration on mine,
yeah. It for sure, it was definitely
because the way that they have it set up is pretty cool.
Like when you're looking at the range, you you, it's the range
is kind of like there's a Creek or part of the harbour where I'm
not sure that that separates us.You go over a bridge or kind of

(23:23):
like out on this like island teabox almost, so to speak from the
range. So it's got a very cool look to
it. But yeah, it's just not kept up
very well, which which is the theme I felt.
Like that's. That I saw throughout the
course. Yeah, that's what I was about to
say is I I feel like there the layout could be pretty.

(23:48):
Cool. I think you've got there is some
level of design. That I.
Do enjoy, I think they they've got some good layout on the.
Holes but your. First experience when you walk.
When you walk up and you're trying to hit range balls does
not set you. Up well for.

(24:09):
The rest of the round. Because it feels like.
They've they've kind of cheapened that experience.
So unfortunately not a fan of the not a fan of the range.
And, and I felt like that the, the layout of the course was
fun. It was an enjoyable track to

(24:29):
play. Like they have some pretty
challenging holes. The the thing that I would say
is is like, I just felt like it was not kept up very well.
So, so for the whole thing aboutthe rough that we were just
talking about how you could you could lose your ball when it
just goes off the edge of the rough, which I don't think was

(24:51):
an intentional thing. I think that's just because of
that. This wasn't mowed very well when
we played out there. And I usually feel like horses
that they try to make their the course like nicer for the
weekends, but the greens were pretty furry like they had they
need to be mowed. It just it just all felt like

(25:14):
that it needed to be maintained better.
So I am not really sure what I had.
So I've played the front nine there a long time ago.
I've never played the back nine there.
So I don't know if if that's normal, but it just felt like
it. I think, yeah, I do feel like we

(25:38):
know I've played in a few scrambles out there.
Played the course a fair. Number of times and it seems
like every time I played. It it's a little wet.
You know they'll. Have holes that are cart.
Path only and it. Does feel like it It's.
Just missing that touch of classwhen you are on the tee box or

(26:03):
you know they they'll definitely.
Let the fairways grow out. And I wonder if it's.
Part of it is just because it issuch a low course.
It's. Wet.
Maybe it's hard to you know, it'd be interesting to talk to
the ground screw and find out, you know, what their challenges
are in trying to maintain that area.

(26:28):
But there's there's some hard. I would say holes.
And then if you're not able to find it because you know the the
rough isn't mode and just. The first cutter off well.
Or something along those lines. It does make makes makes some
frustration where I don't need II don't think frustration needs
to be. Yeah.

(26:48):
And I'm just reading some of thereviews here and kind of what we
were kind of what we were saying.
Very most of the reviews on herejust talk about their place of
their pace of play, that it's very slow, that the, the course
is in rough shape after the rain.

(27:11):
That the which which like you can understand, when we had
played it, I didn't feel like wehad gotten a ton of rain
recently and there was a lot of car path only there was I I see
a lot of their reviews. Most of their bad reviews are
are on on pace of play. Pace of play, yeah.

(27:36):
Well, and I mean, if you think about it in that general area,
there's not a ton of. Courses that are right there.
So that that I make that makes sense, but I also think they
could speed up pace of. Play.
If they maintain some of those areas a little bit.
Better they kept the first cut of rough.
Shorter, you shouldn't lose a golf ball if you're, you know,

(27:58):
pretty much in the fairway or right off, but then also there
are some challenging holes whereyou are going to lose a ball if
you're not, you know, if you're not hitting, if you're not
hitting a fairway in regulation, you're not hitting a green
regulation. Good luck because you need to
and that. Also does slow.
Down your pace of play. For sure.

(28:21):
But yeah, I I actually saw a couple articles.
That were talking about some renovation that was done on the
course and the front 9 I think back in maybe 20/18/2017 was
actually redone and their drainage.
Was addressed because of that. The struggle with some of the

(28:42):
water so you know who. Knows it.
It's possible that. They will continue to work on it
and and essentially try to improve it as much as they can,
but I do know what's interesting.
Is they they do. Host some big events or bigger
events in the area for example, I see that they hosted Wisconsin

(29:06):
PGA pro versus pro event and so and now you think part of it is
just. Because there is there is a
layout. There and some challenging holes
that you can have a higher levelplay I think at that.
Course. Yeah, there's there's
definitely, especially with all the water and that that that's

(29:30):
kind of what I felt like made iteven more disappointing to me
just because like when you look at like the way that the course
could play compared to the course that was how it was
playing. You know, you kind of just feel
a little bit disappointed that that it wasn't up to a little
bit better of a condition because it would be it is AI
felt like the way that it's laidout and the way that the the way

(29:55):
that that the the course is set up it it could be a much, much
more enjoyable course. Oh yeah, I know.
I I. Agree.
I agree so. You've gotten a chance to get
out there now. Any thoughts just around the
greens, amenities, ball cleaners?

(30:19):
What's just your overall feelingin terms of?
How well those types? Of things were maintained.
So, so when we were out there, we only, we only had the Bev
cart come through once and that was the slowest, which kind of
matches the rest of the course Bev cart that I mean, you and I

(30:42):
both got one drink. It would not nothing difficult
and probably took 5 minutes. And we were trying to play
through a group they had asked us if they wanted to play
through. Yeah, and, and we were like,
yeah, sure. So we so we get up, she was
parked alongside the green. We get up, tell her what we
want, we go, we chip, we putt and we come back and we're still

(31:05):
waiting. So that was pretty slow.
They they. We we also had some basic play
anxiety I think going on. Because we, so we.
Actually, maybe, maybe we shouldn't admit to this, but the
beginner golfers that we talked about when we first started,
we're we're pretty painstakinglyslow and we, we fell pretty far

(31:31):
behind the group that was in front of.
Us. I bet they were probably two
holes at least. Out in front of us and.
So we. I kind of felt like we were
stressing them out a little bit.You know, they weren't enjoying
their time. We weren't enjoying our time.
So we. Skipped a hole, we said.
Hey, you guys. You know, we're, we don't want
to stress you out anymore. You had your son.

(31:53):
We were worried it was he was going to start to not last whole
round. So we we skipped a head of hole.
And then when we got on the backnine, there was, it was.
Slightly backed up. So then we're standing on the
tee box wondering if those kids.Freaking up to us again.
To us because the basically. And once we, once we.

(32:14):
Got that group, Let us. Play through past them.
We we cruised and we were able to finish the last eight holes
pretty quickly. But the the overall, I think
that that there's some work thatthat could be done in this

(32:35):
course could be pretty awesome if it was.
Yeah, they they say I'm. I'm reading an article now where
the. Course talks about their.
Greens and they, it looks. Like they try to keep.
Them maintained and generally rolling in 11.
Which they were. They were not running at an 11

(32:57):
when we were there. I think they were.
I would probably. Put them a little bit less than
that, but talk about your your favorite and your least
favorite. Hole or hole?
So. So they do have some pretty cool
features out there. I can't remember what exactly

(33:18):
the number is. I I want to say it's whole
number. It's a, it's the one with the,
the church views. I think that's seven.
That's no, that's yeah. That is.
That's seven. Yeah.
Yeah, it's. Par 7.

(33:41):
Par four and you've got church pews up the right hand side
there and then you're you're going up to an elevated up to an
elevated green and then you havethe the river coming along
through there. That was super awesome.
That that's that's. That's that whole 5, OK.
That's whole 5 and then you comeup.

(34:02):
By the clubhouse, yeah. And that whole 6 is that really
short par 4? OK.
Yeah. So it was a par five.
Yeah, Yep. So so that one was was one of my
favourites for for the least favorite.
I really did not like I didn't like hole 6 is that short part
for like I said, I don't like getting punished for a bad shot

(34:26):
and I got punished for a bad shot or for I don't like getting
punished for a good shot. And I and I made a good, OK,
good, smart play. I don't.
Like getting punished for a bad shot either.
Yeah, for a good shot off the tee, but the way that they have
the, the way that that does it kind of slopes down into the
water there and, and my, my shotran off into the water.

(34:48):
So I didn't really like that hole very much.
And I, I, I also didn't like thedog leg right?
The one hole 8. Hole 7.
It's a hole. A hole?
Yeah, Hole. 7 So you. Play you play hole 6.
And then you go up to hole 7 andit's about 222 hundred.

(35:11):
And 30 yard shot to a severe. Dog leg, right, that one.
I I hit a three wood hit a great3.
Wood And then we couldn't find my ball anywhere.
And it's it's. Literally right.
This is where. You know the.
The first cut of rough. Not being mowed.
Well, it just. Gobbles up your ball, You can't

(35:32):
find it. But we I had to take a.
Drop on that one hole 7's a. That's a that's a tough.
One hole 8 you move into a par 3and they liken holes 7-8 and
nine to their version of Amen Corner.
Where it's. Some of the hardest holes on the

(35:54):
cores and you know, hole 7 is their their number one handicap
hole. So it's it's definitely not an
easy hole. That's.
It just it, it was just yeah, I didn't really like it that much
and, and I actually played and scored well on that hole as
well. But basically anytime I didn't

(36:15):
use my driver out there, I actually scored well.
But. Put the driver.
Away. I need to remember that for for
league. I do think they have a nice
opening hole. If you can cut the corner, get
it over the tree, you can get a pretty decent approach shot.
I do. Like, yeah.
It's very heavily guarded on theback.

(36:37):
You can't be long in that hole. I also think hole 9.
Is is. Kind of a fun hole.
Just because you. Have to keep the your ball in
play the. The fairway is fairly.
Generous, but you have the. The.
Yahara River that runs along on the.
Right, you've got the road. That runs through there so you

(36:57):
can get yourself into, you can get yourself into trouble and
then coming over. There's there's a little Creek,
you've got a bridge. It's picturesque.
You've got the the. Clubhouse in the background it
it does look nice, but. I I've.
Always enjoyed playing that holeand then hole #11.

(37:17):
Is a short par 4. There's a bunker that guards the
front of the green, but you can get pretty close to that green
with a decent tee shot. And again, that's kind of a.
Risk reward hole because you canget yourself into trouble with
the driver. If you're slightly off, you go
to the left. You've got, you know, tree

(37:38):
trouble that you're trying to get out from, and then there's a
bunker there. But I've usually I've always
scored. Well on that hole this when you
and I played up not. So I would say that's I, I've.
Always enjoyed that hole. I lastly I.

(38:00):
Think they're on the back nine Their.
Par fives are a little. Boring in my opinion.
So a hole. 15 that's the one. They've got that.
Big tree that just will will gobble up your.
Ball on the right hand side. It's.
It's low, so you don't get a lotof run out on your golf ball and

(38:23):
it can be wet. So that, that one, that one's
tough. It it just feels a.
Little boring to me and then thesame thing I feel like on their
finishing hole. Hole 5.
You've got to be able to hit a draw or.
Or nice fade if you're. A lefty and.
If you don't you you wind up under the.
Willow trees. So you can hit a great drive and

(38:46):
then. Literally just go along.
On the fairway and that one tends to be kind of a wet hole
too, so I'm not a big fan of. Both of those par fives.
But yeah, that's I would say overall if if there was.
In my opinion, and I don't know all the insurance and outs of

(39:08):
the course management and maintenance, but if they took a
little bit more pride in you know, taking care of the range,
making sure that their grounds crew is mowing on a regular
basis, making sure that you knowthe tea boxes are taken care of
they. Could have.
In my opinion, a significantly better course for what you're
paying. For Yeah, yeah.

(39:28):
So what? What would you give this course
for a review? This this one's tough because
I've also played other courses that.
I would definitely rank lower but I I know you can get out on

(39:48):
the course for a moderately reasonable price and I'm just
looking on their site now. I'm curious to see midweek tea
time and what. The cost look like so.
Midweek you know you can get. Out there for 60 bucks with a

(40:10):
cart. 40 bucks without I think Ithink if this course.
Was at that 80. Dollar price range.
It I would be. Extremely disappointed.
I think on the weekends it can get up there, but I'm going to

(40:30):
say this is a. Bogey.
Yeah, I would say that that I like the bogey.
I would say that if it was, if it was any more, it would
probably even go down to a double bogey for me.
Yeah, it looks like on the weekends you're up to about 70.
Dollars to play with a cart. Yeah.

(40:52):
That, that that's just, I feel like that's, that's like, I get
that you're in the Madison area and you feel like you need to
keep up to the to the Madison price range, but that just it's,
it's not, it's not that for me. Like that course is definitely

(41:15):
not that. That's not what it should be.
It it should definitely be more towards that their their weekday
price is much more aligned with what it should be.
It's yeah. Yeah, I would agree with.
That. Which is a which is a bummer
because I feel like the the course is is a got a cool

(41:39):
layout. It's got a cool, you know, that
there's so much water and everything.
But I did just not. It is not maintained.
Yeah, there's there's potential. That the way that that it should
be for for that that price point.
So yeah, I would say. And also I I feel like I've

(42:00):
never. Played super well at this course
too. Which maybe that maybe that
influences my opinion. Yeah.
So, so let's do you want to talka little bit about our, our,
our, our match here. Yes.
Yeah, so I. So we need to actually go.
Back and talk because I. I'm I.

(42:21):
Was thinking about this this morning and I'm not 100%.
Sure, where we stack up. And and where our wins and
losses are other than I know that you're still currently in.
Louisiana, Yeah. So, so I I like, destroyed you.
I almost beat you straight up. You weren't.

(42:43):
That far so so with our with with my handicap, I beat you by
13 strokes. Holy smokes.
So what was your next? It was under par 70.
OK. Yeah, yeah, I was a net 83.
Which was, which was terrible. But the front 9 I.

(43:05):
Just I, I did. OK, I kind of held on by the
skin in my teeth in the back 9 Ijust completely.
Felt for me. Completely felt.
For me, I actually, I, I played,I didn't play super great in the
front 9. Like I said, hole 2 immediately.

(43:28):
I wound up having to take a a penalty shot in the water, which
I had to do on five and six, even though I.
So the bad thing about it was ison hole 5, I, I had hit my
second shot a little bit left into the rough.

(43:49):
I, I and I, we were already playing so far behind.
I didn't want to just take the time to go look for it.
So I just took a a penalty shot and I went back down 6.
I found my ball. It was just you couldn't see
and. It was already being pushed.
It was. Kind of a stressful, stressful.
So I had to take a penalty, penalty shot there so that like

(44:11):
my score could have been a lot lower And then I'm 18.
So I I actually played fairly well on the back nine and then
we get to 18. And he did.
I, I hit a a decent shot, but I got caught up behind some trees
so I went to chip out, chipped and basically hit back to the

(44:31):
same spot I was. So I'm like, alright, I'm just
going to go for it. And I was still pretty far out,
but I, I hit an OK shot, but it rolled up and it rolled into the
right into the like the long stuff right before the, the
Creek that comes across there on18 and then kind of just flood
my shot from there over. And then so I kind of had to
blow a pole there, but I actually played fairly well at

(44:55):
that. So you.
You. Get another notch on the belt
and then we're going to go back and see just how many games
ahead you are. 6/6 to two he's. 6:00 to 2:00.
Oh man, all right, I got my work.

(45:15):
Actually, we we never figured out who won at Jefferson.
So actually it's 5 to 5 to 2. Whoever won at Jefferson would
be 3. OK.
All right. Yeah, I'll, I'll go back and
look at that scorecard. So yeah, that was.
I think kind of a good summary of our experience out at Lake
Windsor Country, Yeah, if you guys.
Are going to go out there and play it, play it during the week

(45:36):
when you're not paying so much and maybe there's not as many
people. I would say it's still a fun
track to play, but for the, for that weekend price and the and
how slow it played, there's definitely better options in the
Madison area. And you know, you don't want to
discourage somebody from becauseit is a nice course.
So yes, we didn't give it a great overall score, but we're

(45:57):
basing this off of, you know, price, playability, you know,
things like that. I would, I would say get out
there and and still play it, butif you can try to do it during
the week when when there's not as many people and go like do
not go after it rains. Yeah, make sure you're watching

(46:18):
the weather forecast. Play, Play it in.
Play it in August. Well, thank you everyone for
