In this episode, La'Krish Mayes talks with Tinicka Smith, licensed clinical Social Worker, wife and Bonus Mom. We talk about starting out as childless bonus moms and how we had to learn how to navigate in that role. She also talked about how meeting her wonderful husband and knowing choosing him meant she chose his daughter as well. We discussed the teenage stage, those unanswered blended family questions and adding an "Ours" baby to their family. With mental health being very important in today's society, we discussed how you can have GOD + Therapist. How making sure you are not only taking care of your family but taking care of you as well. So adding in consistent session with a therapist, life coach, psychiatrist and etc., can be very beneficial not just to you but your blended family as well. Also how mental health is viewed in the black community. She also provided healthy tips for those who do put their mental health on the back burner. Remember your mental health matters!!
