Jordan (00:07):
welcome to the bookish
hour with jor and fab uh, it
does say, it does say recording31 seconds, 32 seconds.
Okay, and we are live um, livenow, from I was about to say new
york, but neither of us are innew york, so that does not count
.
Fabienne (00:21):
I can't, I can't, I
can't pretend that I'm in a bad
gavel.
Live now from.
I was about to say New York, but neither of us are in New
York, so that does not count.
Jordan (00:27):
I can't pretend that I'm
in a bad gavel.
I don't mind, I've never beento New York.
Actually, it's a shame.
We gotta change that.
I know we, especially like youand I, specifically have to
change that Exactly.
Is that like an anticipatedtrip for 2025, jordan?
(00:48):
Is that a nice segue?
Fabienne (00:50):
I think it is.
I think it is.
Jordan (00:54):
So we are talking about
anticipated reads for 2025.
Fabienne (01:02):
Yes.
Jordan (01:04):
I think I can say just a
little little.
You know, like fun anecdote umjorah and I tried to record this
before and it did not recordnope, literally.
Fabienne (01:15):
And I want to say it
was a long episode too, it was
like an hour and 15 hour and 30and nothing.
Jordan (01:22):
Yeah, yeah oh, like you
know, when sometimes, like when
something like either bad orlike something anxiety inducing
happens and you feel like theliteral cold chill going through
your body, like what the fuckis happening, like that cold,
like shake that you have uh,that's what I had.
When I saw that it did notrecord, I was like, oh my God.
Fabienne (01:44):
Fair, fair, but I
almost saw it as a, so I'm not
going to say it here, because Ithink it was a sign of you know
what we were talking about.
And we said something thatmight not have been the nicest
thing to say and I almostwondered if it was the
(02:05):
universe's way of being like no,you can't put this out.
Oh, okay, so honestly, I mean,I that's kind of how I saw it,
that I was like oh, like, maybethat was really something that,
like, we shouldn't have said andnow, going forward, we could
just not say it well, truth betold, I do remember that vaguely
(02:29):
, um, but you know.
Jordan (02:31):
So, for lining, I have
no idea what I specifically said
.
So oh, I couldn't tell you whatI exactly so even you know what
I'm talking about, though I doknow what you're talking.
I do know what you're talkingabout, yes, but I just don't
know specifically what I said inthat very moment, like verbatim
, oh yeah, me either.
Fabienne (02:50):
But I know, like I
said some things that definitely
weren't the nicest about it,that I was like Lucky us, honey,
silver lining.
Lucky us, lucky us well, so tokick off that, my first, my
first, uh anticipated read isphantom by hd carlton.
(03:11):
But that's because I actuallywent through and reordered them
to be in publication order, so,like, that is the first one.
Granted, we are recording thisand it's already released.
And when this episode comes out, it's already released.
But I was actually lookingforward to it from like when she
(03:32):
announced it quite a bit ago, like definitely last year.
But if I'm not gonna sayanything else and if, if you
want to go look it up, it's uh,hd carlton's new book wait, but
did you read it already?
Jordan (03:49):
no right, no, no, no, no
, no.
Okay, but I do, just I justmake sure.
Fabienne (03:55):
I don't know if I'll
actually read it anytime soon,
so maybe that shouldn't go on myanticipated releases, because
there's just so many other booksthat I want to get to first.
Anticipated releases, becausethere's just so many other books
that I want to get to first.
Jordan (04:06):
Yeah, I get that because
I have to say I do want, like I
do, I do.
I do think that I really wait.
Let's backtrack.
I do want to read a book ofhers because I actually want to
maybe do a reread of, you know, the met cows.
Yes, thank you.
I really wanted to swap thatmet and cows.
This is a funny thing.
Fabienne (04:28):
I do too, I do too,
and I think that would be so fun
and I think we shall do it okay, interesting, interesting,
interesting, wink, wink anyways.
Jordan (04:40):
Um, wait, we're gonna do
like all sorts of genres, right
?
Just just to double check.
Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah, okay.
So I have a mystery romancenovel for you.
It's so.
I want to preface this bysaying that this year for me is
going to be where I want to readas many unknown authors to me
(05:04):
as possible.
I like that.
This one woman I have neverheard of before in my entire
life.
Her name is CharlotteMcConaughey.
She is no family of, by the way.
The book is called Wild DarkShore and, like I said, it's a
mystery romance, but it has alot of suspense and like
intrigue and, of course, plottwists and there is a very
(05:29):
gothic-esque type of undertonewhich I really really am curious
about.
Um, and I just really like tocover it.
Has a very sublime type of feelto it.
That's all I'm gonna say aboutit for now and it's, I think
it's going to be releasedsomewhere in march.
I'm not really sure which datespecifically, but you know, it's
(05:51):
in march, just mark the entiremonth.
Fabienne (05:55):
Just one big red
circle oh, did you just want to
go back and forth?
Oh yeah, sure, yeah, okay, haveto say I'm adding this to my
list, which is Onyx Storm, thethird book in the what the Fuck
series by Rebecca Yaros.
I don't even know, the fourthwing, it's definitely not.
Jordan (06:17):
I don't know Something
Empire, empyrean, empyrean.
Fabienne (06:23):
Empyrean, oh Empyrean,
honestly something empire,
imperial, imperial, imperial, ohimperial, I honestly.
Onyx storm, which is the thirdbook in some series by rebecca
yaros, but fourth wing is thefirst one we've had like
multiple.
We've talked about thismultiple times, like on the
podcast, so again won't go intoit too much, but I have lowered
(06:45):
my expectations and so I thinkthe book will be good I hope so.
Jordan (06:52):
Um, I do know.
Well, that's not really true, because it all also can also
just be like you know, like ared herring, as in like false, a
false type of like hint.
Um, but I saw sorry, let meexplain.
I saw a video of rebecca yarwas talking about onyx storm.
Um, and she had like her threelike the trilogy, or you know,
(07:13):
is it going to be trilogy?
Fabienne (07:14):
no, like just a series
no, yeah, I think there's going
to be like five, if not more,or maybe less, I don't know, but
it's going to be more thanthree then we better learn the
actual name of the series, mindyou.
Jordan (07:25):
Okay, so I saw her
talking about Onyx Storm, like
in a video on Instagram, andbehind her she had like with the
spine towards the viewer, andOnyx Storm is so much shorter
than Iron Flame, like, say, atleast 150 pages shorter based on
(07:45):
, like the thickness of thespine, so I think it will be
more to the point, whereas, um,I thought Iron Flame was like so
dragged out unnecessarily andyou know, like all very um
famous and like popular trendsthat were going around on TikTok
and Instagram, especially likethe book community, just cramped
(08:06):
into one book, and I thinkmaybe Rebecca took note of that
and was just like, okay, maybelike cut off that and just be,
just write the fantasy that thisdeserves to be.
So I really have hopes, unfortunately, for this book.
Fabienne (08:20):
Same.
I feel like I agree with you100%, too, on Iron Flame.
I also feel like without givingaway too many spoilers in case
listeners haven't read it, but Ifelt like Iron Flame
incorporated YA aspects to it,especially for the romance, that
(08:41):
did not need to be there, and Ithink, too we've also talked
about it like um that I feellike she should have made this
series a complete slow burn andI wish things progressed a lot
slower.
But with that being said, before I I read Iron Flame, I
(09:05):
was obsessed with Fourth Wing, like I loved everything about
Fourth Wing, but it's also youknow, I was.
I follow this one guy onInstagram.
I think it's like Dylan'sReading.
Dylan is reading Dylan'swhatever, I don't know his
handle.
I'm sure you've come across him,if you don't follow him already
(09:26):
, but he talks about potato chipbooks where they give you no
value, like no nutritional value, but you can't stop eating them
.
And he says fourth wing is that?
And I was like that is exactlyhow to explain fourth wing.
You will like gobble it up, butlike there's no substance, but
(09:47):
it is a good time, it's like areality TV show and I was like
yes, that's exactly how to likeexplain it, because it is so
good Like you won't be able toput it down.
But like also like things mightnot make sense.
You just like you can't looktoo deep into it.
You got to like you just acceptit.
For what, like things might notmake sense.
You just like you can't looktoo deep into it.
You gotta like exactly, andyou're gonna have a great time.
(10:09):
You're not gonna have like abad time, it's gonna be great
and there's not like a metaphorright and I was like yes.
so now I'm like I look at it asin, like okay, yes, like it
doesn't have to be this likemasterpiece, but granted, I
think, with that being said, Istill expected more from Iron
Flame.
Jordan (10:29):
Oh, definitely.
Fabienne (10:30):
And it just like it
didn't hit.
But Sonic Storm releasesactually the day this episode
releases, so on the 21st andfingers crossed it's good.
Jordan (10:42):
I'm crossing everything.
I'm crossing everything.
Yes, yeah, that looks yeah.
Um, I have a book by an authorthat I actually do know, but I
have not read a single thing ofhers.
Um, I have, I think, the ravenboys trilogy here on the shelf
somewhere.
Um, maggie steve father.
(11:03):
Um, I have the listeners, uh, byher on my list and I want to
say it's a mix of all sorts ofgenres.
Um, I think we definitelydiscussed this, obviously, like
in our previous attempt, um, butit's like a weird mix of nazi
(11:25):
era in like the world war iiperiod, um, with like a hint of
fbi, but also a mix of like likemagical, like, uh, realism.
So it has like it's likecrossing all types of genres.
Um, but I have heard that herbooks are really well written
(11:46):
and I feel like with the potatochips type of stories I want to.
I don't necessarily want tohave like the book to be like,
like, to have like value in thatsense, but I do want it to be
well written, because otherwiseI am not like engaging with the
story at all, regardless of whatthat story might be.
So, the Listeners by MegasteeFather, and that comes out in
June, early June, I want to saythe story at all, regardless of
what that story might be.
Um so the listeners, by megasteve father, and that comes out
(12:06):
in june, early june, I want tosay I don't have the specific
date here, I'm sorry.
Um so yeah, basically, mythclass conflict, spies, a little
bit of magic love actually okay, important question of all time
(12:27):
hit me when totally spies was ontv I don't know you don't Bites
with Jerry from Whoop.
Fabienne (12:48):
No, was this a
European thing?
But Clover sounds.
Clover sounds familiar.
The red hair yes.
Jordan (12:55):
Well, technically, yes.
So we had like three women likein high school, so technically,
like you know, young adultwomen in high school, and we had
Alex, who wore like a yellowbodysuit, and then we had Sam
the redhead, in like a greenbodysuit and Clover, like the
blonde girl, in a red bodysuit, and they were like secret spies
(13:17):
and it was amazing.
Fabienne (13:20):
Oh my gosh.
Yes, I do know this, but I didnot know that was the name of it
.
Jordan (13:28):
Oh, okay, fair.
I thought for a second that youknow that we could not be
friends anymore.
Fabienne (13:32):
I know, I know, I
almost like threw our friendship
down the toilet, not knowingthe series.
Jordan (13:39):
Just flushed it, but
then my question doesn't really
count anymore, because I wantedto ask, like you know, like you
said, we love spies who were youalways like pretending to be
when you were like, when youwere younger, from like the
totally spies trifecta girls?
I was always pretending to beClover, but you know, never mind
(14:00):
I feel like I remember the winxclub more like the fairies.
Oh my god, I love winx club sogood.
So wait did I say loved or love, because otherwise I might have
admitted something here okay, um, next book, next.
Fabienne (14:17):
Yes, I am so excited
for deep End by Allie Hazelwood.
Now it comes out February 4thand I only read Bride, which we
all know.
Your thoughts on Bride it'sfine.
It's fine, it's whatever, it'sfine, but I loved it.
(14:38):
So I'm super excited for thisone.
I don't, I haven't read any ofher contemporary stuff.
Um, I, my best friend loves herand has read every single book
of hers, except really.
I don't know if she's readbride, but usually she'll tell
me how it is because, like, youknow how, like we hate
miscommunication and basicallyall of her books involve
(15:00):
miscommunication, but like to adegree that I don't think we
could handle it.
Okay, but I think Deep End hasdarker themes, so I think
there's not going to be anymiscommunication.
Either way, I'm still going toread it because I'm so excited.
But yeah, that's all I got andI'm so excited.
Jordan (15:23):
That's all we need to
have anyways.
No, I did, like Deepin was alsoon my list.
To be fair, I'm skipping Bride.
Like I said, we all know mythoughts on it, but I also have
not read any of her other stuff, like the love hypothesis is one
of hers, I believe, andcheckmate or something like
there is like somethingscientific like a love type of.
Fabienne (15:46):
Okay, yeah, oh yeah,
and then there's like no, no,
just uh check, and mate is ya,and then like the love
hypothesis is like adult, thenthere's, I think love
theoretically there's, and thenthere's some more that I don't
know the name.
Okay, but I love bride.
Jordan (16:07):
Like I said, deep end is
on the list, so maybe that's
where she changes my mind.
This is a person I don't know.
Ashley is like such a boys andgirls name.
I have no idea if this.
Fabienne (16:21):
I think it's a girl.
I think it is a girl.
Jordan (16:25):
Ashley Winstead yes,
yeah, it's a she.
Okay, um, um.
We read a book of hers thenbefore um midnight is darkest
hour.
Fabienne (16:33):
Yes, and I really
loved that book, I think I would
have loved it more if I didn'tlisten to the audio.
Oh, that was I love remember.
Oh, that was true, remember, butI think that was really cool,
like dynamic that we broughtinto it.
But I am very sad because Ithink, without giving anything
away, the ending is differentversus reading it, versus like
(16:58):
audio.
So like, if you're listening tothis and you haven't read it, I
recommend reading it either onebook or paperback.
And're listening to this andyou haven't read it, I recommend
reading it either on ebook orpaperback and not listening to
the audio.
Jordan (17:08):
Yeah, that's a fair
warning, um, anyway.
So ashley winstead um, thisbook comes out on march 25.
It's called this book will buryme and I have seen it
circulating on instagram alreadyso much and I'm like, how do
(17:30):
people get their hands on likethe physical arc?
Yeah, or they are really goodat photoshop, but it's like a
really great book.
It has very like this 80s typeof videotape vibe to it, like
there is this film over, likethe cover, like with um, you
know, like with the videotapingback in the day.
It had like rainbow coloredfilm like literally over it,
(17:50):
like the well, that's basicallythe cover of the book.
I'm explaining this so poorly, but once you look it up you'll
see what I'm talking about.
Um, it's about a collegestudent and I think there is
murder, because otherwise therewon't be berry in the title and
that's literally all I know.
But you know, I want to givethis a shot.
(18:10):
Um, and I don't know, I thinkit's also maybe about
gravediggers.
I have really no idea, but I'mlike, actually, winston, yes,
new author to me, I'm gonna readher books this year, so yes,
yeah, new author, but we didread her last year, so yeah,
yeah, okay, but she's still anewish author to me.
Fabienne (18:28):
I'm already learning
my own lines here I like it
though I like it okay.
So my next one is another onethat's kind of like onyx storm,
where I have low expectations, but scythe and sparrow by brin
weaver, which comes out february11th, I I am obsessed, obsessed
with butcher and blackbird, somuch like I love that book so
(18:52):
much.
But then leather and lark Ialmost said what you you said.
I almost, I almost said leatherand lame you just take, you
just roll with it.
Jordan (19:03):
It's the new title, it's
a subtitle, the subtitle I just
it's.
Fabienne (19:08):
it's one of those
things that I was like it just,
and people are like, well, maybeyou should have listened to the
audio.
I switched to the audio and Iwas like, oh, it did make it
like at least easier, because Iwas driving when we were reading
it, like I was still living inProvidence so I would have to
drive to work and stuff, so Iused that hour to like drive.
Jordan (19:31):
But I feel like what's
the longest drive of your life
when listening to it?
Fabienne (19:38):
Kind of it's like very
boring.
It's very boring.
Jordan (19:42):
And do you think that it
had to do with the voice
narrator?
Fabienne (19:47):
Well, everybody says
like how, because they're Irish,
that it's like a deliciousnarrator, and I'm like I think
the narrator is fine, like hewas great, she was great.
I actually don't mind duetstyle was great.
(20:08):
I actually don't mind duetstyle so being like the female
speaks during her lines, eventhough it might be a male
chapter, so then the male readseverything else, it actually
makes it super easy to follow onor follow along during like the
dynamic, uh, or like dialogue, which is great.
And so I know like a lot ofpeople either have like a love
hate relationship, like theyeither love it or they hate it.
I'm definitely one.
That's like it depends.
But this is almost like adramatic audio book, so like if
(20:34):
she laughs, like the narrator'slaughing instead of like saying
she laughs, or like it will belike little things like that,
like if she hiccups, she hiccup, the narrator hiccups, she
hiccup, the narrator hiccups andlike so, like a lot of the
times, like the main female maincharacter, which I don't even
know her name it was whatever,it doesn't matter.
(20:56):
Um, she laughed all the fuckingtime and I like, was I got?
I didn't like the narratorlaugh, so it just just pissed me
off every time I heard it.
So I think there's things likethat.
So I would have preferred ifthat was out of it, but I didn't
mind the duet.
So I think it just like maybe, and maybe that just ruined the
experience more for me, so likeeverybody was like I loved it
(21:19):
where.
I was like if the narratorlaughs one more goddamn time.
Jordan (21:25):
I'm going to lose it
yeah.
Fabienne (21:28):
So, but hopefully this
one's better.
Jordan (21:32):
I am.
I have this one on my list aswell and I'm actually pulling up
not necessarily like the blurb, but like the, the overall, I
guess synopsis in the very vague, very vaguely described way.
Um, it says here that um brinhas a unique story cycle here
(21:53):
that features indie rockmusicians, contract killers,
circus motorcycle performers andsmall town doctors, for some
reason.
Uh, like the may, like midnightmayhem comes to mind.
Oh, I mean, we have herecontract killer, circle circus
(22:14):
motorcycle performers andindiscriminate murders and
multiple povs.
So I don't really know what tomake of that.
But I will say that, regardlessof my experience with reading
um leather and lark like I didnot listen to the audiobook,
(22:36):
because we all also know mystand on audiobooks, which is a
very personal stand um, also, the writing in that book was
just not it for me it wasactually like overdoing the
Irish dialect and accent, likein that book, like stylistically
and like from like a grammarperspective.
So it was just not.
(22:56):
Anyways, but this book I'm likehmm, maybe this brother is like
saved today.
Fabienne (23:02):
Exactly.
Jordan (23:03):
Maybe she can, she can
like redeem herself herself,
like with it or just like withthe book, like I don't, I don't
know, I just, I just really, butreally, I just, I just hope
that this is going to be, uh,you know, bringing in all the um
food metaphors for stories here.
I hope this is going to be likea sandwich trilogy you know
where the first book is good, the middle is just a little bit
(23:24):
blech, and then the third bookis like top notch again.
Fabienne (23:29):
So uh, fingers crossed
, yeah, yeah, yeah, um, okay, uh
, uh, wait me, or you, me, youyeah you, sorry, sorry, I
sneezed, thank you, you werelooking down and I was like
(23:51):
pointing at you, but youcouldn't see me and I was like I
do apologize.
Jordan (24:00):
Um.
Okay, so I have um rachelkillig.
If I pronounce her namecorrectly, it's a romanticist
meets gothic romance.
Um, I actually have the uh, theone dark window duet here.
I'm not really sure what theactual name of the duet is,
(24:20):
though, but yeah I don't, Idon't either, but I have that
somewhere over there too yeah, well, I have it because I did.
I love the cover and peoplewere, like you know, praising it
left and right.
Yeah, everyone's obsessed withit, so it's like I need to read
it so I thought I might just beobsessed with the next best
thing here, like with her nextrelease.
(24:40):
Um, it's called the knight andthe moth and night, as in, like
you know, the knight in shinyarmor on a whole.
Um, I don't know.
It's about magical realismagain, um, while realism in the
sense of it being a romantic, itwas real to them, um, but um,
we have, like I said, a gothicapproach.
(25:01):
There is like omens, witches.
This is a tough word for me.
What do you call someone whoreads cards?
Diviner, diviner, diviner.
Fabienne (25:19):
I don't know.
Jordan (25:20):
I'm going to spell it
for you.
This is a Fair, but it startswith a D and then we have an I.
Yeah, well, I wish Anyways,d-i-v-i-n-e-r.
Diviner.
Fabienne (25:40):
Diviner, divine.
I have no clue this amount.
Jordan (25:48):
There's some people who
receives images like you know
she, she, she wow oh, a fortuneteller she sells she shells by
the she, she.
Wow, I'm kidding, you got this.
No, I don't.
She receives visions from theotherworldly entities known as
(26:12):
omens.
Anyways, I'm already, I'vealready screwed this up.
But Rachel Killick, the Nightin the Moth, and it releases on.
I have it here writtensomewhere May 20th, ooh, so you
better jot that down in yourcalendar, miss.
Somewhere May 20th Ooh, so youbetter jot that down in your
calendar, missy, and other folksJotting it, yep.
Fabienne (26:30):
Down Later, not now,
nope, okay.
Well then, I'm so excited forthis one Sunrise on the Reaping
by Susanna Collins, so it'ssupposed to be like the prequel
to the Hunger Games trilogy, butit's going to be Haymitch's
(26:51):
story, which is releasing onMarch 18th, or at least that's
the date.
I know I should have checked, since we already recorded this
so I could have checked if thatdate was right, but I am
literally so excited forHaymitch's story, I'm so excited
.
Jordan (27:07):
Do you think this film
eventually will also get?
Wait, this book will alsoeventually get its film Like its
own movie.
Fabienne (27:13):
Okay, I think so, just
because the success rate, like
the Hunger Games, was huge, andthen even that the prequel, the
snakes and songbirds, like thatfilm, was great, which I didn't
necessarily want to read thatbook.
I saw the movie and I'mobsessed with the movie, loved
it, thought it was so good andthe way they did it, it just so
(27:34):
good.
Yeah, I still don't know if I'dwant to read the book, but I
want to read this book, and thenthey better.
I wonder who they would cast asHaymitch, though that's what I
wanted to ask Do you have like?
A fan cast for that.
Jordan (27:53):
No, I just remember, I'm
just curious.
Fabienne (28:05):
I just remember when
the first Hunger Games movie was
like a trailer I don't evenknow what movie I was seeing,
but I saw the trailer for thefirst hunger games movie was
like a trailer.
I don't even know what movie Iwas seeing, but I saw the
trailer for the first hungergames and I was obsessed with
jennifer lawrence, also likejosh hutcherson.
Like josh hutcherson, likeyounger me, had the biggest,
like crush on him.
Oh my god, same Really.
Oh my, yes.
Now he looks not that great, butyounger him and younger me, I
(28:29):
was like I love him.
Jordan (28:32):
We're just gonna pretend
that you know he didn't age
past when we were young thissentence does not make sense
grammatically, but you know whatI'm talking about.
Like when we were 16, 17, 18,and when, like, those films came
out that josh still lives rentfree in my head, but after that
he didn't age.
He's still like, stuck in thatsame.
This makes me sound like apervert, but he's still never
(28:53):
mind.
I'm not even gonna finish thatyeah, no, no, no.
Fabienne (28:55):
But but that's the
reason why I read the books,
because I was so excited to seethis movie and I was like, okay,
well, gotta get it.
And then that's what got meinto reading those books.
Jordan (29:05):
So, like, that's true, I
know yes young josh hutcherson
and jennifer specifically yeah, jennifer lawrence, young josh.
No, oh, I, I actually looked itup um like what the fan cast is
for like Haymitch.
So there is, there are a lot ofdifferences here.
(29:27):
Actually, tom Holland is likeup the list apparently here.
Fabienne (29:34):
I could get behind
that.
I could get behind that.
Jordan (29:39):
No, I used to have the
biggest crush on this guy too,
like when those marvel filmscame out, like with spider-man
josh holland, tom holland Itried to combine their names.
Honestly.
If that mash would just exist, please thank you.
Yes, yeah I.
I had the biggest crush on tomholland I love him and zendaya
(30:03):
so much.
I think they are the are theyactually going to get married?
Like is that?
Is that rumor true?
Fabienne (30:13):
I don't know, but they
would have the prettiest babies
, because did you see him in aninterview saying like when he
had a kid or when he has kids?
He like he doesn't want to actanymore, like he just wants to
be like a dad.
And I think she like shares, like similar views and stuff,
which also they are both soextremely successful that they
probably, like spider-man alonehas probably made them so much
(30:35):
money.
Plus she's done so many otherthings.
Jordan (30:38):
I don't actually know
what else he's done but just
cheering her on from the sightlines.
I think.
Fabienne (30:46):
Exactly so.
I feel like they wouldn't evenneed to do anything.
And then, if they were to comeback, it would be like the movie
that they choose to come backto Everybody's going to flock to
it, of our age anyways.
Jordan (31:01):
There is actually
speculation.
No, because we're not old.
There is actually speculationwhere, with the new Christopher
Nolan movie, like about like aretelling of the Odyssey, where
Tom Holland apparently is castin and.
Fabienne (31:16):
Zendaya.
Oh, I didn't know about her,but I knew about him, Possibly,
but I don't think anything'slike set in stone yet though.
Jordan (31:23):
No, no, no.
I don't think anything's likeset in stone yet though no, no
no, I don't think so either.
Oh, and this guy, I actually canget behind this like potential
actor too.
Do you know?
You've seen, um, how's it?
A dragon, yeah, or only justgame of thrones, okay, so you
know that, um, oh god, all thosenames are.
(31:43):
They're so like alike.
I fucked them up entirely in myhead.
So we have, like the guy, spoiler for house of the dragons
starting now.
So you know that, like the Ithink it's aegon, the guy who
just got burned off his likedragon, who was like, oh, the
king, yeah, basically just aking.
Yes, that actor, uh, tomglincarney.
Fabienne (32:05):
Apparently he is fan
casted as hamish abernathy, as,
like the younger hamish okay, Ithink I could also get behind
that, but I also just know I'mfrom like house of the dragon,
so I don't know what he wouldlook like natural otherwise.
But also I feel like, is thatreally a spoiler, because
(32:27):
there's so many fucking agonsagon, agon, agon, agon, agon,
agon that is actually.
Jordan (32:34):
That's actually very
true.
Yes, but also it's good thatyou put it down yeah, but do I
say no, then end spoiler and doI time like timestamp this oh,
end spoiler.
Fabienne (32:48):
Oh, there we go.
Yeah, see you back here.
Like I don't know, I'm stillkind of there's.
No, no, I'm looking up this kid, I don't know, because there's
so many agons.
Amen, what, what?
(33:11):
Yeah, that one too no well, okay, sorry there's so many
versions of agon because youknow how like it starts off,
like with them, like babies, andthen they get older.
So like this clearly isn't.
This is him younger.
There's no way this is the sameum.
Jordan (33:34):
Like this can, but
there's no way it's the him oh,
no, no, no, I'm talking like theolder version of him I know, oh
, no, no, this guy can oh?
I think, I'd rather have tomholland honestly, yes, anyways,
(33:56):
oh man, my entire algorithm thatI so carefully, oh cultivators,
fucked up.
It's gone.
Now, christ, it's gone it'sgone okay, next book, next, next
book, um this one I'm stealingthis from you, actually, because
I know that this for 100 is onyour list um kaylee smith and
(34:16):
chandra I'm so excited yeah, sowalk me through it again,
because I actually asked youthis, like last time, but I just
want to have you knowconversational, like
conversational stuff here.
Um, so it's a second book inthe series.
Fabienne (34:31):
Yeah, don't look it up
.
It is like it's not acontinuation of like the same
characters, it's like differentcharacters.
But I don't like you're gonnawant to read, I say you should
read phantasma first before youread Entantra, just because,
like things happen and you kindof just get a little bit more
about like the characters thatwill be in the next book.
But don't look anything up,because I think that was what
(34:54):
was cool for me, because likesomething happens in the book
and you're like oh fuck, and soit's really cool and I feel like
that was very vague, but likeDoesn't matter, we like fake.
Jordan (35:06):
Yeah, we don't like fake
, we like vague.
Yes, is this gonna be like avicious versus vicious again?
Fabienne (35:14):
vicious, but I
literally as I pull phantasma
off the shelf.
Jordan (35:20):
I am obsessed with this
book, so much I really love the
cover too, actually so good andI'm not necessarily a fan of
skulls and covers, but this oneis actually.
It's just, it, just.
Fabienne (35:33):
You know it pulls it
off, yeah just so good, I just,
and I'm definitely I like purple.
Jordan (35:44):
It's a good.
Fabienne (35:44):
It's a good color, it
is it is, it is, oh, oh yeah,
your turn, your turn okay, somine I'm, which is also because
that sorry, a little burp.
Um, that comes out april 8th,and another book that comes out
April 8th is Fearless by LaurenRoberts, which is the third book
(36:07):
in the Powerless trilogy, whichI am so excited for.
I loved Powerless.
I loved Reckless.
I think there is a lot ofpeople that either.
A lot of people didn't like it.
They felt that the book couldhave been two chapters.
I was obsessed with the book.
I finished it in a day.
I loved it, I loved everythingabout it and I cannot wait for
(36:28):
Fearless.
Jordan (36:31):
Could I read this Like
this series?
Do you think I would like it?
Fabienne (36:37):
It is YA.
It's a super easy read and veryit's a potato chip book.
Jordan (36:47):
Okay, fair, honestly, we
should keep that.
We should keep that up, becauseI like that, I genuinely like
the metaphor and it justdescribes you and gives you what
it is I think we should make anepisode of like potato chip
reads oh my god, jot it down, jot it down, I'm jotting it down
okay, okay we, we have to do it, we have to do it.
Fabienne (37:03):
Okay, good, wait,
continue please.
Oh, yes, I'm continuing.
I do think this is so.
(37:27):
They say that if you like theHunger Games, this is like a
Hunger Games, just make it withmagic and powers, which I agree.
Now, some people like going inwill read it because of that,
but then they still wantsomething different, even though
you say it's going to be aHunger Games with magic.
But then they get mad becauseit's too much like the Hunger
Games.
But if you like the HungerGames and want more Hunger Games
, then you want to read this.
But if you want somethingthat's like different, then
(37:47):
don't pick this one up, if thatmakes sense.
But I love the Hunger Games, so,like, I want as much of the
Hunger Games as I can get.
So, reading this, I was like, yes, please, but think of it.
In the first book, it'sdefinitely is in a way like a
love triangle, so like it doespull that from.
(38:09):
Like, I feel like a lot of yashave love triangles.
I don't know why, I don't knowwhat it's, why it is, granted, I
love a love triangle, but Ifeel like all of them are in
like the ya books.
So if you like that sort ofstuff, um, I I loved it.
I ate it up again.
Jordan (38:26):
Very quick read, gobbled
it down, I just go up, gobble
it up, not down, and ask forseconds not sloppy ones, though,
no sorry no not those.
That's too many food references.
Fabienne (38:40):
I think yep, never
mind sorry I'm, I keep crossing
off the ones we talk about no,no, you keep crossing that line,
girl, not in that way.
Jordan (38:53):
Also, I can't write
nutritious for the life of me.
Look at the notes.
Fabienne (39:00):
Look at the notes oh,
I was like what notes you're not
showing me?
I got it.
I got it.
Look at the notes up.
Oh, I was like what notesYou're not showing me?
I got it.
I got it.
We're now leaving it.
Jordan (39:14):
Yeah, okay, it's a thing
now, excuse me, okay, so Okay,
I have one more.
Actually, um, I I don't have topreface everything every time
that I'm gonna start saying likea title um, again a new author
(39:36):
to me.
There I go again, by lindellclipston clipstone tenderly, I
am devoured and supposedly it isperfect for fans of salt burn
and house of hollow.
It's a moody and monstrouslygothic romanticity into which a
young woman must bind herself toa dangerous creature, demon,
(39:59):
with the help of the son of herrival family, to save her
family's legacy.
Just a small blurb.
I again have no idea when itcomes out, but I was obsessed
with the cover.
I don't have it here for you, Ionly had like the little blurb.
(40:19):
But I actually have seenSaltburn recently and I have
House of Hollow here and it is avery gothic-esque type of I'm
forgetting the word here um, Iguess, story, both, by the way,
like the book and a film.
So I'm curious about this onebecause it's also mixed with
(40:41):
romanticy and I think it's uh, Idon't know, just sounds really
interesting and what were yourthoughts on salt burn?
that's my question I thought itwas weird as fuck.
I mean, I get what, I get whatpeople are praising it from,
like a cinematic perspective andlike with the whole, you know
(41:04):
the way it was filmed, and likethe storytelling, the acting.
Also, I like the way it wasshot, like with the square
footage, does that make sense?
But the story itself?
Did it make sense?
No, did I keep watching it?
Fabienne (41:22):
Yes, yes, that last
song, when I don't even know the
song.
But now when I hear it, I justthink of him running around the
house naked and hisding-a-ling-a-ling.
It's just like floppingeverywhere.
It's just like loop, loop, loop, loop, loop, loop, and I'm just
like ah.
Jordan (41:42):
His dick has been
haunting me for weeks actually.
Well, not weeks, I mean, I onlylike saw it like the other week
actually, or two weeks ago Justwait until that song pops up
now for you, because now youwill think of that moment.
I tried to avoid it with all mymight.
Fabienne (41:57):
Oh, and when that
movie, we watched it like
relatively soon, like when itcame out, so out, so like I
think people were playing thatsong because it became like
popular but they hadn't seen themovie.
So I'd be like, have you seensalt burn?
And they'd be like no, and I'mlike you wouldn't have picked
that song if you had kind ofmakes sense.
Jordan (42:15):
It tracks that you
haven't seen the movie.
Yeah, no, I, I think, I, I dolike, I do genuinely think that
it was, like you know, betweenair quotes, a cinematic
masterpiece.
But I could also have not seenit and just like, continued on
with my life happily and merrily.
Fabienne (42:33):
So yep, it was like I
agree with you.
It was like I'm glad I saw it.
Jordan (42:41):
It yes.
Fabienne (42:42):
I saw it.
Jordan (42:47):
And that's the end of it
.
Yes, yes, yep okay anyways.
Fabienne (42:55):
um, it's your list, so
, okay, I just have a few more
so I can like spitfire them, yes, which I'm surprised you didn't
say that Well, okay.
So one I'm super excited forWildest Dreams by LJ Shen, which
also comes out April 8, alongwith Intantra and Fearless.
I'm gonna have a lot of booksthen, but I'm so excited.
Jordan (43:16):
I'm sorry I didn't
mention it.
I'm sorry you take the floor.
Fabienne (43:21):
Oh no, no.
But I read Truly Mad Deeply andI was obsessed with that book.
So this is book two in theseries and I am so excited.
And then what comes out April29th is Ignit, Runix and the
Firebird, which is a liverelease, so we have no idea when
that's coming out, but I'mexcited for both of those
(43:42):
stories and Assassin.
Jordan (43:52):
I'm so excited I I would
like to circle back to the
first title that you wanted topronounce.
I mean, you've had like a weekweek to practice this, didn't
you, didn't you?
I was?
Fabienne (43:57):
hoping you would bring
it up, like you didn't, enigma
thank you.
Jordan (44:02):
Thank you, sorry, you're
welcome.
No, but I think I'm so excitedfor both of those.
So I'm just really excited foryou know, like another Gothic
tail by runics Cause I thinkthat's actually like where she
um thrives.
Fabienne (44:17):
Yeah, it's her like
bread and butter.
Jordan (44:19):
Honestly yes.
Fabienne (44:20):
I'm so excited, I am
so, so excited.
I am so flippin' excited.
I'm also really excited forSparrow and Vibe I don't know if
that's the title by Sophie Larkcoming out April 22nd.
It's like her new contemporary,which I don't know.
I love Anastasia.
(44:41):
I love there Are no Saints,no-transcript excited.
(45:05):
I cannot wait for that, which Ithink is going to be a trilogy,
so that's like book one in thetrilogy and then the last book,
which is my one I'm the mostexcited for and I can't flip and
wait.
I don't even know if this isthe actual release date, but
Quicksilver, book two, which isuntitled, I think we looked it
up and it's like fey, alchemyand fey or something like that,
(45:29):
but supposedly, based offgoodreads, it says it's
releasing november 18th, but Iknow she was just traditionally
published for quicksilver andthat came out by forever, not
that long ago, like in december.
So this book two could bepushed out, but november 18th
(45:49):
could be accurate.
I'm praying it's accuratebecause I need book two for the
life of me like yesterday.
Yeah, but I am so excited forthat book and I cannot wait do
you have any like guesses as towhat the title might be, since
we're talking about like alchemyand this book title is like
called quicksilver no, and Ifeel like I know we talked about
(46:12):
it before and I know that theseries name is like fey and
alchemy and things like that, but I still think quicksilver
would have been a series nameand then something else for the
title.
So I really don't know what shewould name book two um, I'm
very curious.
I think it.
Jordan (46:29):
Yeah, I don't know
because, like I don't know,
maybe just gonna pull like alindsey straub, like once
quicksilver has been republished, like traditionally, then like
it's already oh, yeah, not bad.
Fabienne (46:42):
Yeah, it already came
out, like I want to say,
beginning of december, maybe endof november oh sorry, yeah, I
was not listening apparentlyyeah, no, how dare you?
Jordan (46:52):
I don't know, sometimes
I just do.
Fabienne (46:54):
I don't think, I just
do yeah, but I'm like that is
like the book I am the mostexcited for, so I'm pray it
comes out this year Againeverything crossed.
Jordan (47:06):
Yes, yes, oh my God.
Microphone down, microphonedown.
Fabienne (47:12):
Oh, remember that time
that we did a recording and my
microphone was never plugged inand I just showed you.
That was where I wish we hadvideo, because that would have
just been amazing to share.
Jordan (47:23):
But anyways, it's funny
that you no wait, let's continue
.
It's funny you say that becauseI was in the other day at I
don't know.
I just fell down this rabbithole like youtube and then like
other um, uh, bookstappodcasters, whatever the word is
.
Um did like a book tube type ofthing, but then also like
(47:45):
podcasting and I just we startedlooking into like how to video
record, like this corporatediscord doesn't do that.
So we started looking atalternatives and I just fell
down his rabbit hole again and Ithink we might or we should
look into it maybe again, possibly like in the near future
(48:06):
, just just, just, just just forfunsies, I know.
So be down also, because withthe new place I would actually
have this space to record and Iwould have my own corner and I
would feel maybe morecomfortable instead of like this
nook where I'm crammed andpacked to record here.
(48:28):
So you know.
Fabienne (48:29):
I like it.
I like it and I've also thoughtabout like too, because I know
too, we were like not sure if wewanted to do that, which, like
YouTube, would be a differentsituation, but if we wanted to
like venture into it.
Granted, these are thoughts, people, we don't know if we'll
actually do them.
Actually, actually, I won't getinto it now.
I I'll I'll save that, savethat, but these are our
(48:54):
anticipated releases and maybeanticipated on youtube well bam.
Thank you so much for listeningand please don't forget to rate
and review wherever you can findus.
So catch you next time.
Bye.
