Jordan (00:07):
welcome to the bookish hour with joran fob love that
sound.

Fabienne (00:12):
I love that sound.
Um, so are we going to pretendthat we didn't already like chat
for like half an hour?
Or, or, like oh my gosh, it wasa half an hour I didn't even
realize.

Jordan (00:23):
Well, um time flies yes, guys, it really does.
Really, does so anything newand exciting to talk about?

Fabienne (00:35):
well, I'll just, I'll just keep it like tiny or like
just, you know, like small inthat sense.
Um, uh, the house, the newplace, um, we're making good
progress, okay.
Okay, I feel I honestly at thispoint and I didn't tell you
this before but I feel like wecould literally like start our
own, like contractor type oflike, um company like jay, my

(01:01):
mom, my dad and my uncle, likean like a little family type of
like you know?

Jordan (01:05):
Oh, that'd be so cute, you should.

Fabienne (01:08):
They were even like they were like literally joking
about it today.
I mean, I've probably said thislike a few times already and
even on a podcast too, I'm sure, like my dad and my uncle, like
they have, they're likefreelancers for like a contract
or contracting type of company Idon't even know how you call it
the contracting company, likethe contractors, um, but they

(01:28):
build a lot of shit, and my momand I were really good at
painting, like indoor painting,mind you.
Like we have like all thetechniques, we have like all the
paint brushes, like all youknow, like the, the life hacks,
the tips and tricks, um, also,my mom is like a really huge
diy-er di, yeah, diy-er and shejust loves to look up like
little like tips and tricksonline so that she can like

(01:52):
implement all those new things.
Like, when she comes over andlike, hey, fab, I, I read this
online, like with the, thepaintbrush, and you don't need
to have like the newest of that, you can just like cut it off,
and then you have, like you know, like a diagonal paintbrush and
then you can like cut all theedges like oh my god, that's so
smart.
Um, and then jay, kind of likeyou know, I guess snowballed

(02:13):
like downhill from there in thesense of like we should really
start our own company.

Jordan (02:17):
We are really good at this flip houses, flip houses.

Fabienne (02:20):
You know, house rules ain't got nothing on us.
The block usa, the blockaustralia.
We are the next thing.
Yeah, um, but it's really fun.
I mean, um, it's, it's reallylike, really, uh, it makes me
just really fucking happy to seelike the entire place really
come together, like all thepuzzle pieces are like you know,

(02:40):
like they fall together.
Like the bathroom is done, um,the downstairs like toilet, like
the half bath, I think is whatyou call it is done.
Uh, kitchen is practically done.
Just need to have, like youknow, like a second coat of
paint downstairs and that's it.

Jordan (02:55):
I am so happy, so I guess that's my good thing I'm
so excited for you I like can'twait until you're like fully.
I want like a video when you'relike fully, all moved into like
I want to see where everythingis I need to like picture it.
I need to see.

Fabienne (03:13):
I'm so excited you and me both you, you gotta promise
that you will come visit me inthis place too oh, I have to.

Jordan (03:22):
It's like your next place.
I have to.
I mean, okay, okay, I got afree place to stay.
How could I not?
It's better.

Fabienne (03:30):
Like I promised you, it's not going to be like an air
mattress this time.
It's going to be an actual bed.

Jordan (03:35):
So wait, but I liked that air mattress.

Fabienne (03:37):
That was nice to be fair, it was a good.
It was a good mattress.
It was a good mattress.
But now you get your own roomand not just the entire living
room to yourself so exciting, Ijust like it's so exciting like
a house I know, I know I can'tbelieve it, sorry.

(03:58):
Just yeah, it's basically myentire like the sounds that I
make during the day is just likeyou know.
You know like happy wiggles, like happy dancing and just like
giggling throughout.
My uncle gets kind of annoyedwith me.
At this point I feel like, ohmy God, can't you just like be
silent just for once?
I'm like no, because you're toodamn excited.

Jordan (04:17):
Yeah, how can you like not be?
Have you figured out like, because, because, like I know,
you're still in Amsterdam, butlike, have you figured out like,
is it like the same aboutgetting to work from your house
as from, like, your place whereyou're?

Fabienne (04:30):
were before.
Good, good question.
And yes, it literally is.
See it as like, see it as likea circle.
Basically just for, like thosevisual learners out there, the
top of the circle is like orlike literally any point at the
circle is where I work and thenthe other side obviously is
where I live.
But it's literally just like.

(04:51):
If you go like the right way orlike the left way of the circle
, it literally is the samedistance.
Also like with public transport, also with like the bike and
like the ferry, it's all thesame distance oh my gosh that's
so nice might not have been likethe best example not to think
about it.
Maybe a triangle was a betterexample, but you know it.
To answer your question, yes,it's the same like time, like

(05:13):
commute.
So that's what's nice it is.
It is I don't have to like getup earlier, I don't have to set
like an earlier alarm, I don't.
It doesn't take me any longerto get back from work.
So only pros here, no cons.
Yeah.

Jordan (05:29):
Oh yeah.

Fabienne (05:32):
I do have one con, though.
Oh no, and I feel like that'sno, no, no.
I feel like that's like a nicesegue to what we're actually
going to talk about.
Or was that too early?

Jordan (05:44):
I think that was early.
I was going to mention my worktrip, oh.

Fabienne (05:50):
I am so caught up in my own fucking story.
I am so narcissistic I doapologize.

Jordan (05:55):
No, oh my God, as you should be no.

Fabienne (05:59):
No, that was a horrible thing and I'm a good
friend.
Please tell me about your worktrip, sweetheart.

Jordan (06:06):
I'm so sorry oh yes, I am set to leave, like as we're
recording this.
I'm like set to leave like nextweek and I'm going to be like
going out of state for this worktrip, which I'm slightly
actually very terrified becauseI'm going by myself, so it's not
like no one else from mycompany is going with me.

(06:28):
So, and I've done like thesekind of work trips in the past
but usually someone else is likepoint person, like the lead,
and then I just like followbehind them to do and in my own
world and it's like greatbecause like someone else has
done like all the work.
I mean it's still work for thelike everyone else that goes,
but at least, like someone'sbeen like the point person type

(06:50):
thing, but now I'm the pointperson and it's a lot.
So like I'm excited but I'malso like now I can't wait for
it to be over.

Fabienne (07:02):
But I'm gonna keep it very vague because like I don't
want to like no, I get that, gotta keep it vague, but still I
mean it's a big responsibility.
But also it's really nice thatsomeone is like putting that
faith in you.
You know like you're gettingyour I know, but should they
girl?
well, yes, jordan, honey, youare all girl, we are almost 32,
they should.

(07:23):
We can take on thisresponsibility, and I'm speaking
like from the collective.
We here because, yes, we can, yes, you can.
I don't want to sound tooObama-like, but yes, yes, we can
, we can do it.
Yes, that is really so exciting.
Wait, can I ask what state?

(07:44):
Or do you really want to bevague, vague?

Jordan (07:47):
I'm gonna be vague.
Vague here, okay, because liketechnically, when this episode
actually airs, it's alreadyhappened.
But I'm sure people can pieceit together, but I'm gonna keep
it vague anyways okay I'll tellyou later yeah, okay, please.
Should have told you thatbefore.
But anyways, now we can get toit.

(08:08):
So this episode is part two ofOnyx Starm by Rebecca Yaros,
which is basically the secondhalf of the book and the whole
book and the whole book andnothing but the book.

Fabienne (08:24):
The whole, yeah, yes, and the whole book and nothing
but the book.
Um, yeah, yes, uh, and do weswear to tell nothing but the
truth?
Uh, yes, yes, yes, we do.
Um, it's gonna be a very brutetype like of honest truth,
though, which?

Jordan (08:40):
to be completely honest, I'm more curious on your
thoughts because I think youliked the first half more than I
did.
So what did you think?

Fabienne (08:52):
of this half.
No, no, no, no, no, that wasonly like the only half that I
liked and then it just kind ofwent downhill for me.
Oh, yeah, that I liked, andthen it just kind of went
downhill for me.
Um yeah, I I saw like you postabout it like the other day,
about how you dodged like allthe spoilers, and I did too, and

(09:14):
I was.
I mean, I want to say I was glad, but, to be fair, I've seen now
all like all the spoilers thatyou come across, like on your
for you page or whatever onInstagram, tiktok, you name it.
I'm like that's not like a bigspoiler, like they just like let
me just put it like this Allthe spoilers that you are warned
about, like on social media, and you do watch them like after

(09:34):
the fact, after you've read thebook.
I'm like those spoilers werenot that big of a spoiler.
They were just like dialoguesthat were just somewhat
interesting.
You know, I say between airquotes, um little hints and
things that like happened in thebook but didn't really happen
as in like nothing happened.

Jordan (09:51):
no, there was book.
Yeah, like especially, I waswaiting for this like giant
ending which I guess she wastold to like remove her memory
about.
Like imogen is what told hershe?
imogen took her memory, yeah soI feel like that was like the
one thing, but like it's noteven like that big of a spoiler,

(10:14):
because you don't know what shefucking doesn't have.
So I feel like, if anything,it'd be like the next book and
like I thought maybe her sisterwas gonna die, but then rebecca
like brought her back to life,so I know how how, like, how
cowardly.

Fabienne (10:30):
Honestly, like just buddy off.

Jordan (10:33):
I know she already took like liam from us and that was
like literally the only sadthing that ever happened in this
series so far yeah, and I I'mmad at myself because a few
people have sent me like theirtheories, like in in the sense
of like instagram, theories likereels, and I meant to watch
them before we started recordingso I could see them, but like I

(10:55):
didn't do that, so like I can'tgo in, but I did.
I remember like saying, I thinkin the first half that, uh,
people had theories of like.
I think in the first half thatpeople had theories of like
someone taking her memory away.
So I was like, okay, well, thattheory came true, but I feel

(11:19):
like my I'm like not going toreview this book on Instagram or
like Bookstagram, which I thinkyou might have, but I didn't
read it because I hadn'tfinished it, and now I need to
go back and read it.

Fabienne (11:34):
Yeah, I did, but it wasn't like groundbreaking in
the sense of, you know, like apositive review.
I mean, it was an honest review.
That's all I'll say about it.
The thing is, I think with thisbook rebecca I'm just gonna,
I'm on first name base with thiswoman Rebecca got stuck, I feel
like, in this very confusingand like to me personally,
meaningless fantastical worldthat she's like created.

(11:54):
I don't feel like she has thatmuch of a story left to tell
because she like crimped it all.
Like in fourth wing there islike this huge potential it's a
fourth wing, so fucking good Iknow, so I'm just really
downhill I'm just really fuckingcurious what happened between

(12:17):
fourth wing and iron flame I?
What happened to her likemental state?

Jordan (12:22):
like well, I have one right right, there was like,
still like sorry, you go you go,because I'm I just need to wind
up.
Yes, get it out.
A lot of people have said thatrebecca yaros has this like
condition that violet has.
So she's like has these likeaches and pains and like I don't

(12:44):
know exactly what violetet has.
But apparently Rebecca has ittoo and so like she's like
writing from herself.
So apparently Iron Flame wasrushed Clearly we know that
because it came out like monthslater after Fourth Wing, so and
that apparently that likedestroyed her, like mentally and
physically writing this book insuch a quick time frame.

(13:08):
And to be completely honest, which I don't know why she felt
the need.
I'm sure it's not on Rebecca,I'm sure it's on like the
publisher, like they're rushingto get this out, but I don't
know why.
If like that was your thoughtprocess, why didn't you have
like all the books writtenbefore you started with fourth
right?
Exactly to each his own?
But my thing is is then we haveto wait a year for this one.

(13:33):
So, like, fine, that's great, but I feel like we shouldn't
give us anything with this one.
Like I don't know, but like Ialso don't.
It fucking boggles.
You know what someone told me.
Someone told me that peoplehave been saying the people have
been saying that.
People have been saying that, like this book fucking sucks.

(13:55):
And then the people that loveit but the people that love it
are like you just don't get it.
It's too complex of a world tounderstand and you don't get it.
It's too complex of a world tounderstand and you don't get it.

Fabienne (14:05):
I'm like excuse me.

Jordan (14:07):
Excuse me, you think this is fucking complex.
I'm like no, this is just ashitty ass book.
What are you talking about?
And I'm like dying.
I've known so many people thatloved Fourth Wing, wouldn't
finish Iron Flame and give nofucks about this one.

(14:29):
Oh wait, I was going somewherewith that but I don't remember.

Fabienne (14:34):
But like it doesn't matter, spiral all that you want
, because this book was likejust went down to drain.
In that sense too, it was justfucking horrible, like nothing.

Jordan (14:43):
Nothing happened, nothing and like nothing made
sense.
I like still can't get over thefact that she just like started
implementing like militaryterms, like I know we brought
this up last episode and whatyou said makes complete sense,
that like people were like youneed, like it, you need, you
should implement this.
But then I think you fucked upand you should have rolled with

(15:07):
what you were doing for thebooks one and two.
Um, I also.
But like I think, because, likeI think that could have made so
much sense, because, likeviolet being a scribe originally
coming into like the warcollege, like having to learn
these new terms would have beengreat, um, and maybe even if
fourth wing didn't have it, itwould have been fine, because
you're still in the schoolenvironment, you're still

(15:27):
working based off that.
But, like iron flame, like thisseries has so much fucking
potential and I will say that Iknow like so much fucking
potential.
I also think too, like I thinkre Rebecca is just trying to put
too many things at once intothis series, which was the

(15:48):
problem of Iron Flame too, likethere were too many elements of
like, too many like fantastical, like bits and putting in the
runes, remember that, like Ithink she should have just
rolled with, I think, likedragons.
I didn't understand, Girl.

Fabienne (16:04):
I didn't understand a fucking thing about the runes.
I still don't.
The wars what are like the wars?
Like a dome type of likeprotect?
I think that actually was thecase, but I'm still so fucking
confused by it.

Jordan (16:19):
The runes make zero sense.
The runes make zero sense in mymind.
I'm like, why do you need toimplement them?
I it?
I feel like, okay, the way itfeels like it's being written is
a clear.
I have a feeling these runesare going to come into play in
like the last book, but she'slike, oh fuck, I forgot to talk
about them.
Let's bring them in real quick, when she should have like

(16:41):
mentioned them like first book.
But like, I think, like and Ithink that's the thing is like
what I said the last episode, like the simplicity of like how
simple this is, like I think itworks for fourth wing because
you're being introduced to theworld, like it needs to be
simple, like it should be simpleand like trying to keep it for

(17:05):
these two.

Fabienne (17:09):
I think wait.
Can I tag on that Wait is?

Jordan (17:13):
that how you say it even .

Fabienne (17:14):
Like I think, because from what I understand and I
think we've talked about thisbefore like she usually writes
contemporary romance books rightWith like a military like
undertone usually writescontemporary romance books right
with like a military likeundertone.
Do you think it might be likepossible for her that she
doesn't really know what to dowith a story that doesn't end
after book one, or like with aworld that actually needs
expending, or like explaining?

Jordan (17:38):
oh, maybe.
Well, and I still kind ofwondered that to begin with, you
know what someone was.
Someone else told me is.
They said you know how she likeyou know how she writes military
romances.
So they said, take uh, takeiron flame and replace all the
dragons with helicopters.
It's like a military romance.

(17:59):
And I was like holy shit, it is.
But I now I struggled gettingthrough this like I know a lot
of people.
I think you saw my story whereI like posted my goodreads
review that saying like in caps.
I finally finished it likethank fuck.
So many people laughed at that, but I like I should have I was

(18:21):
just so excited that I wasfinally done with it, Like I
just.

Fabienne (18:26):
It just dragged on.

Jordan (18:27):
It was like hanging over my head Because I like, and,
like you know, I got the audio, which, thank goodness, I did
Just because that helped push methrough, because, like I, even
though I had to, like, fully payattention, like listening wise,
but the, the audiobook did giveme a little bit more, in the
sense that, like, when certainscenes were happening, like, um,
I listened to the scene whereTraeger died, like he got the

(18:51):
arrow through the heart, yeah,um, like, and that helped that
seed because that was like Idon't know who that guy is and I
felt nothing for him, but like,I wanted to ask that like did
like, did it do like.

Fabienne (19:04):
Did it impact you like in any?

Jordan (19:06):
no, me neither no, literally, I think it was, I
think it was just like an inch.

Fabienne (19:10):
Oh girl, I don't even remember that Quinn was like who
was this girl?
I, oh wait, I, I think I mean Ican.
I can understand, like thetraeger death happening like,
why that happened.
Because it showed us that catwas like really over satan,
satan, so that she was not likeI feel like, um, I want to say,

(19:36):
uh, what's the word?
Uh, like a rifle of violetsanymore, like a roman's rival
for like violet, but it's quinn.
I also didn't understand, likeall the differences, like all
the different perspectives.

Jordan (19:49):
At the end it was so fucking confusing I think,
because I think she had to putthat in there, because violet's
scene was very likeanticlimactic not anticlimactic
but like boring.
It was like very simple again, and anybody that says this
story's fucking complex isfucking wrong.

Fabienne (20:09):
But anyways, um I think she had that came from
really down deep.

Jordan (20:14):
I feel like I just like, I feel like people start with
this.
This is like your breakout intofantasy, and if you haven't
read any people start with this.
This is like your breakout intofantasy, and if you haven't
read any fantasy, start withthis and you're going to love it
.
You're going to love it, you'regoing to love it.
You're going to love it.
You read anything else beforethis.

Fabienne (20:32):
You're going to fucking hate it.
Yeah, this is like yourstepping stone into the genre.
You know, fantastic, you dowhat you got to do.
Do you immerse yourself in thisbaski of the dragon wielding
writing world, but do not startwith rona glass or like akatar
or like anything else.

Jordan (20:52):
and then you know, like in this because you're fucked
really yeah, but I think if youreally actually dive into it
someone else was was telling metoo, like they're, like I
actually don't feel any lovebetween Violet and Zayden.
All I feel is lust.
Like, yeah, they're likeobsessed with each other in the

(21:12):
sense that they want to sleeptogether, but I don't feel any
of the love that they have.
And I was like, honestly, yeah, honestly, yeah, yeah, I just
I'm not even here for theromance anymore.
Like again, when the likeromance in the sense of like any
of the spicy scenes, like Ijust squirrel, squirrel,
squirrel, like I don't, I, Ididn't want it, like I wasn't

(21:32):
here for it like I just wanted, okay, the one redeem, one saving
.
The one moment where I was likeokay was when um mirror was
dying and um, her brother's liketrying to mend her, and then
sloan's there, and then danecomes and dane's like dane's

(21:52):
like take my power and give itto brennan, and sloan's like I
don't, I don't want to do it.
And he's like eyes, eyes here, eyes on me, eyes on me.
And I was like okay, dane, that's the only thing okay.

Fabienne (22:07):
Do you know how bad that is like if it's not even
like the main like character orlike the main couple in the
sense of like you know they'rethem being like two, like
they're being two of them, butlike if we feel, as readers,
more for secondary likecharacters and their possible
blooming relationship as opposedto like the actual main
characters relationship.

(22:27):
That's like just bad writing.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, I mean you're notwrong.

Jordan (22:34):
You're not wrong I feel like if it was like if we loved
violet and zayden and Dane justhad this moment, like that,
that's like different.
But like we don't like Violetor Zayden, I'm still very
obsessed that, like Taryn andViolet, like Tarn whatever his
fucking name is like uh-huh.

Fabienne (22:53):
Their relationship is like honestly well said very
eloquently it is really, it's,it's really poop, it really is
also I was kind of missing himas in like.
I missed him in this bookbecause he wasn't as much on
forefront as he was in ironflame exactly like I loved it,
like I was at least iron flame.

Jordan (23:13):
I loved the their relationship sort of like yeah
they're back and forth, whichwas kind of in this, but like
not really, and it made me sadbecause I just I wanted it to be
there and again it wasn't andI'm like I just I will die on

(23:33):
the hill that the series has somuch potential, which is no, I'm
not going to get into thatright now, but like I feel, like
I think I'm not sure if there'slike an, even a possible
release date for book four, butoh, I fit.
Okay, I at least with IronFlame.
I like after I finished achapter I'd want to read the

(23:55):
next chapter, like I would wantto keep going.
This one I struggled through, like clearly, like you had
finished it.

Fabienne (24:07):
And you were like want to record, and I'm like, no, I
don't, I haven't finished it yet, I'd rather not.
You know why all the chaptersare fillers.
You know, like when youremember, like supernatural,
like the tv show, like from wayback when yeah you would have
like.
Sometimes episodes are justliterally filler episodes.
They do nothing for like thegrand scheme of, like the
storyline.
If you read only like the firstfew chapters of Onyx Storm and

(24:28):
the last few chapters and youjust skip the entire middle part
, you would have missed nothing.
Nothing of actual substancehappened.
I mean, sure they went, youknow, island hopping, looking
for all the eras, pure to youknow, like for, like for, say it
is like then in.
But if you just like dropped itbecause also xan is is fine,

(24:48):
like the entire book.
I was just waiting and waitingfor like the other shoe to drop,
but everything just seemed toturn out fine.

Jordan (24:56):
But then just like toward the end, very end, like I
feel like the the bigger bookwill be like maybe the next book
where he's like actually likegone, except that like a little
tiny part of him or some shit.

Fabienne (25:10):
No, it was just really a whole lot of melodramatics
for me that was just like where, like the entirety of the book,
and yeah, exactly like it wouldbe a struggle.

Jordan (25:19):
Like I remember for the first half I was like, finally,
I done Like for this for us tolike record and stuff, and then
we like recorded and I was likefuck, I have to read again Like,
oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, yeah, and I just I don't.

Fabienne (25:38):
You know what the fucked up thing is, though when,
like, the next book comes out,I'm probably going to buy it and
read it.
Oh, I mean, I feel like I'm intoo deep now.
I can't, I can't, I can't, Ican't not read it.
That's the fucked up thing, andI want to love it, you know.

Jordan (25:52):
I feel like we're hate reading it at this point because
since, like, what we're doingand I mean people at this point,
people will know that the firstepisodes are literally right
before this, so it's like now Ithink we just have to continue,
yeah, just to follow along thoselines.

(26:14):
But, like I mean, I think we'regetting the people that, of
course, like do not like thebook and not the people that are
obsessed with this book.
But I mean, there's still sothe people that are obsessed
with this book, but I meanthere's still so many people
that love it.
And I almost like wonder, likeif we didn't have, like
bookstagram except I don't knowit's different, because I feel
like so many people went inbeing like this book is so good,
like this one is so good, and Iwas like, ok, but maybe that's

(26:37):
what like raised my expectations.
So then, when I started, I waslike what do you mean?
it's so good, what do you mean?

Fabienne (26:45):
Insert Jennifer Lawrence.
What do you mean?

Jordan (26:49):
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
But like actually, what do youmean?
Because it's not yeah.

Fabienne (27:00):
I kind of like, after I finished this one and call it
research.
Just do scrolling a fuckinginstagram.
You know, whether you werelooking left or right,
everything that was likebasically on my entire for you
page was on a storm at thatpoint because I wanted to look
at all the theories, because Ithought maybe, maybe I like,

(27:20):
maybe this book indeed wascomplex, maybe it really was
complicated for me to understand.
That's why I didn't love it.
So you know, I looked uptheories.
One one of those theories I didwant to ask you if you have
theories, because I don't haveany not me personally, but I
like I said I did see someonline and I would fucking
despise it if that were true.

(27:41):
So remember how, hopefully youremember, you didn't like just
cram it like inside a little boxand like stash it somewhere in
like the back of your head.
But do you remember how it wasreally obviously mentioned that
like the dates, like it was somany days or like um days ago
that satan like lost his temper, like lost his control.
Some people believe that theyare actually naming all the days

(28:08):
, like I guess acknowledgingthem because Violet might be
pregnant, Also because therewere a few hints here, as in
like she was nauseous a fewtimes, she was really dizzy.
There are a few mentions of likedid you take in that you know,
whatever protection potion soshe can't get pregnant?
Um, but a lot of people thinkthat she might be pregnant and

(28:30):
if that were true, I'm gonnafucking swing this book out of
my window yeah and when thathappens it's gonna be three
stories high, so I actually havea lot of space to throw it out
from.

Jordan (28:39):
You know, it really hits the ground harder yeah so yeah
fuck, I don't want that theoryto come true also riddick
rightick yeah I don't know.

Fabienne (28:51):
It's like a ripped off style stilinski.
I did see other people likementioned this too, but I
wholeheartedly agree I loveStiles.

Jordan (29:02):
I know I love it too, but he is like a ripped off he
is no, you're right, he is.
Oh fuck, now I'm sad.
I like Stiles, but I I wish Ilooked up some theories because,
like I have, no, I likehonestly, honestly do not know
where this story could go fromhere because, like, clearly, she

(29:23):
found the arids like the lostdragon or whatnot, and they were
like no, we're not gonna helpyou, and but anarda, anarda is
back, she's back.
So it's like I don't know.
Yeah, like, but are they notbound anymore?
Like I don't know, I have nofucking clue I have no idea, but

(29:45):
like I also don't give twofucks I don't mind.

Fabienne (29:51):
Well, I actually do mind, but you know, I also don't
mind it's, it's a whole thingit's like I don't.

Jordan (29:56):
I have like when it comes out, like you, I'm going
to read it.
Like I feel like we need to atthis point, like for the podcast
, podcast, that like it willhappen, but I'm not in any rush
for the next book.
So it's like when it getsannounced, like yeah, I'll
preorder it, so it's here, butlike I'm not.

Fabienne (30:18):
Yeah.
The funny thing is, though, isthat I that I don't like, I
don't necessarily hate it either.
I mean, we said now, like we'rejust hate reading it.
I mean, yes, to give it a like,to give it a name, but I don't
like hate, but it's also just.

Jordan (30:33):
It's just really not good.
No, I think we're like justinvested at this point, like I
think if we really did hate it,we would not continue reading,
because it's like, how can we dothat to ourselves?
But I think, like it is I.
I also think in the back of mymind, I'm like hoping it will
get better.
So like I think, until wefinish it, I always I think I
will think the next book will bebetter.

(30:53):
Yeah, but I think like and it'sjust so tough because I feel
like not even just on Rebecca, but I feel like her editor, like
I think like if they gave thismore time, they would see that
like, oh, maybe we shouldn't dothat, like maybe we should.
Who?
is her editor I don't know, orlike the like Tower team.

(31:19):
Oh, you know, like I think likeif the publisher like fully
fleshed out this series or likethe books, but it's almost like
it's not getting like the properlike edits it needs, it's
almost like, oh, rebecca'swriting everything down, okay,
off to print, Like it's notbeing fully fleshed out In my

(31:45):
mind, but then again there'sstill like a ton of people that
are loving it.
So it's like good for them.
Are we the mind?
We're just, we're just notthose people?
No, we're not, but like, are wein the minority of like not
liking this book?
Like I know a ton of peopledidn't like iron flame and I
feel like a lot of us are likein the same boat there.
But this one, like people areliking it.
But then there's people outthere being like she had a

(32:07):
one-hit wonder and that was likefourth wing and I was like huh,
I mean, I'm kind of, I kind ofagree, like I love fourth wing
yeah wait, but you bet your ass,I'm oh yeah, yeah, sorry, no,
no, no, finish that tagline Icould bet your, bet your ass.
I'm reading the next one therewe go.

Fabienne (32:32):
That's for theories oh yes, hit me um, I am so
confused by the entire.
Like Venon bit I yeah, I Like.
Did you read?
Like the theory, apparently?

Jordan (32:53):
there's a brother Like oh yeah, I saw that.

Fabienne (32:54):
Like do you know who the brother is?
What are your?
I thought it was.

Jordan (32:57):
Jack.
So everybody's like.
I saw one reel about that, likethat was a spoiler and they're
like spoiler and it was like soeverybody's like.
I saw one reel about that likethat was a spoiler and they're
like spoiler and it was like hisbrother and they're like not
liam or liam and liam is I don'tknow, but I was like I thought
they confirmed that jack was thebrother, because they're both
venin, they're both likeinfected and shit.
So I'm like a little confusedabout that.

(33:19):
I still think the one thing islike if I now I'm terrified, I I
never want to reread FourthWing because I think like if I
were to reread it, I'm like notgoing to love it anymore.
But oh no you can't reread thatone.

Fabienne (33:32):
It will take all the love that you possibly have for
it.
It will crunch it.

Jordan (33:36):
Exactly.
So I can't do it, but I thinkthe one cool thing is, if this
is true and where um violetnoticed, like jack barlow bardo
I don't remember his last name, jack uh he's like barlow.
Okay, when he um, when she goesto fight him, at one time at

(33:57):
like one point in the first book, um, she notices red around his
eyes.
So like if um rebecca was likeforeshadowing, like venon at
that point, like I think that'sreally cool and I think that
would have been like I feel likethat's like sarah j moss level,
shit especially with the first,so she can write.

Fabienne (34:15):
She's just not but, really that's the.
That's the thing you don'tlisten to that anymore and no I
that I.

Jordan (34:21):
That's the thing is.
I think this series is just notfleshed out enough.
Like I think, like, like, ifher editors took more time or if
she, like I can understand too.
Like, rebecca, like you're,you're writing this, you're
thinking one thing, whethersomeone's going to interpret it
that way or not, like you arestill thinking of it.
That's why there's supposed tobe multiple people working on

(34:42):
said book, because then you getlike the outside perspectives,
you get like a different view ofsomeone that's not writing it.
So that's why I feel like thisis kind of like I'm not saying
it's like solely rebecca's fault, not saying it's the
publisher's fault, but I feellike the publisher could have,
like, maybe given this a fewmore passes and been like, oh
yeah, like maybe we shouldtighten this shit up maybe push

(35:02):
back, like the release date, yeah yeah, and I I think that's
like what it stemmed from.
I think it all started with therelease date of iron flame and I
just think that was like toorushed it should have because
like people were so obsessedwith fourth wing and they still
would have been so obsessed nomatter when you, even if you
waited until this point in timeto release iron flame, like

(35:22):
people would still be obsessedand I would be so, so fucking
excited for iron flame, nomatter when it was released.
But now I just like don't care,no one cares give it.
But I have seen a lot of peoplethat like still didn't like
fourth wing, so like I think Idon't know, I don't know I don't
like, I think, I don't know, Idon't know, I don't know, I

(35:44):
don't know either, I don't knoweither.

Fabienne (35:48):
No, I, I generally.

Jordan (35:53):
So where do you think the story will go from here?

Fabienne (35:56):
Yeah, well, hopefully uphill well, hopefully I
generally have no idea.
I think the next book is justgoing to be like a copy of a
copy of, like this copy, andthen it's going to end like

(36:17):
another cliffhanger.
Either someone is dead, but notreally dead, like brennan, then
someone is either going to bekilled but, you know, like
verified, persisted, like miraor someone's you know memory is
going to be erased like violets,or satan is going to be like on
the loose, whatever I Igenerally have no idea.

(36:38):
I will read it, like I said.
I'm too invested, like you saidtoo, but um, it's gonna take
take a lot for me to like lovethe storyline.
I have no idea.
Yeah, do you have any likeideas?

Jordan (36:52):
no, I'm like I keep thinking, like you know how like
usually these series you wantlike this big epic battle at the
end and I like can't tell if,like that's actually going to
happen, like I don't think thislike giant big epic battle is
going to happen and I thinkthat's gonna really do a
disservice to the series in mymind, in my opinion in your very

(37:15):
humble opinion, very personalone too yes.
So I'm like not really sure, butI don't know, like where this
is gonna go.
Like I, maybe she's, maybeZayden's gonna fucking die and
she's gonna end up with Daneeyes on me, honestly, eyes on me
.
I wouldn't be here for it, I'dbe here, for it.

Fabienne (37:38):
I would not be mad right, like I.

Jordan (37:42):
I mean, this is where Rebecca could kill him off.
Like let's kill off Zayden.
Someone else has shadows now.

Fabienne (37:49):
Like yeah, oh wait.
No, I also like wait.
I want to note on one somethingthat I think actually is
somewhat interesting in thisentire heap of shit that this
book is like um, the six mostpowerful walk the earth, or

(38:10):
whatever like are we talkinglike the dragons or are we
talking like the cadets?
Slash lieutenants, slashwhatever with, like their
signets I don't know, I don'tremember that part.

Jordan (38:24):
The six who walk the earth what?

Fabienne (38:26):
yeah, well, like like the six most powerful, right, I
think it was.
It has something to do likewith the wards, wards, wards and
like the the runes last book,no, I don't remember, because
apparently dane is like a wholelot powerful because kind of
like noticed that when she waslike siphoning off of him or

(38:49):
whatever well, no see, like Ifeel like I missed something
there because dane's like I haveextra power to give, and I was
like, when were you so fuckingpowerful?

Jordan (38:57):
like what did we know this?

Fabienne (38:58):
the whole time no, and then also because, we saw this.

Jordan (39:05):
I thought they were just the two powerful.

Fabienne (39:07):
Well, apparently, what's her name?
Imogen is also really fuckingpowerful, because she did
something.
And then Garak was like wegotta talk about this later, yes
, and then Garak he kind of likeno, no, no, I think that was
Dane.

Jordan (39:18):
I think that was Dane Because Garak, Imogen, zayden,
violet, they all have likeanother signet yeah that's true,
but like Dane's this now superpowerful.
But I'm like when did youbecome super powerful?
Like have you always been?

Fabienne (39:35):
But then we have five already, because then
technically it's Violet, zayden, imogen, apparently, because
that happened.
Dane has like excess power, maybe Garak, because his second
signet is like that he can walkA jumping thing, yeah, which
apparently is really powerful.

(39:56):
And then we have a hidden six, which Maybe Bodhi.
Maybe, Rihanna or Bodhi.

Jordan (40:02):
I'm thinking Bodhi because he I think he has the
second one, has the secondsignet, maybe heihanna or Bodhi.
I'm thinking Bodhi because Ithink he has the second one, has
the second insignia.

Fabienne (40:08):
Maybe he doesn't, maybe he doesn't.
I might have lied, I don't know.
We can check.

Jordan (40:12):
They have like this thing yeah, but not everybody
has, because, like Garrett's noton there, I was looking for his
.

Fabienne (40:18):
Is Garrett not on here ?

Jordan (40:20):
No.

Fabienne (40:21):
No, fuck, he's not.

Jordan (40:29):
No, huh like why wouldn't he be?

Fabienne (40:31):
and they put quinn, even though she kills her off,
yeah the fuck is that right?
What?
Where was she?
Like the?

Jordan (40:35):
like the entire book.

Fabienne (40:37):
I have no fucking idea just waiting in that one
stairwell to die yeah, I'm sorry, she was waiting for the venin
to show up I, I literally haveno idea what that woman was and
apparently that was supposed tobe like very tragic, like oh,
they were going to be friendsprobably, then like for a really

(40:57):
short while.
Oh, imogen, I'm dying in yourarms.
I'm so sorry.
I don't know where that camefrom, but it was just really
horribly done um, my uh, yeah,no, fuck, what was I gonna?

Jordan (41:09):
I was gonna say something, but I hopefully not.
Or, oh fuck.
I like it was on the tip of mytongue multiple times and then I
finally had it about something, about these characters in this
book about Quinn, about Riddick, about Garrick, about Auric,

(41:35):
about I don't know.
Also, to be fair, there were somany characters so many
characters and then we startedlearning last names and I was
like fuck, fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck, we're out.
You remember?
We still never.
No, I don't remember.
But we still don't know whoLlewellyn is.

(41:57):
Is it a place?
Is?

Fabienne (41:58):
it a person.

Jordan (41:59):
Is it a dragon?
I don't know.
You're just as good as minePeople.

Fabienne (42:05):
Is it a dragon?
I don't know.
Your guess is good as mine.
People are confused becauseI've seen it.
It's like a thing now oninstagram too.
Like, uh, I read onyx storm, Iloved it, but I have no idea who
this person is.
Also someone actually like wait, I have to.
I gotta pull this up becausewhen I posted my review, someone
actually posted um aboutthislewellyn person thing,

(42:26):
whatever.
Samanthaw2761 replied to myShout out, shout out.
Actually it's very kind of herbecause she said Chapter 49 in
Iron Flame flame.
The excerpt at the beginning ofthe chapter talks about

(42:46):
llewellyn chapter.

Jordan (42:50):
Yeah, in iron flame well , I'd like to point out that we
learned about llewellyn beforechapter 49, um, so maybe that
would have been nice before that.
Sorry, I'm trying 49, 49.
Uh, while wait, the littlelittle x at the top yeah, is

(43:13):
this iron flame?

Fabienne (43:16):
oh, bulldozer girl, wait, wait, I got it, I got, I
gotta look it up.
No wait, I'm gonna look it upnow I have.
Okay, did I purchase this frommy kindle wait?

Jordan (43:30):
I think I have it on my kindle, so I think I can look it
up wait, can you?
Pull it up please, because myface is like freezing on me okay
.

Fabienne (43:37):
So apparently 49 iron flame the excerpt at the
beginning of the chapter.
Yeah, I think it's like thelike 49 you said yes, 49, 49, 49
.

Jordan (43:49):
Okay, flyers and riders are held equal in every regard,
with the exception of wingstructure.
Is this like like the biggerthe wings, or this is the thing
with the never mind?
Riders will maintain theirwings, wing selections and
squads, as well as retain theircommands.
Every drift will be absorbed bya squad and their leader will

(44:13):
replace the squad's currentexecutive officer.
For unit cohesiveness andefficiency Article 2, section 1
of the Artrio Accord boardaccord art tray I don't know the
the continent award it's fine,it's fine, uh-huh you're like
stop talking.

Fabienne (44:33):
I'm so sorry.
It just like, you just likekept going and on and on and on,
much like honest, fucking storm, mind you.
But wait, where?
Where does it say about?
Where does it explain what thefuck luellen is?
Yeah, wait, I'm gonna look itup in real time, like because I

(45:00):
think it, I think, like it, likedoesn't.

Jordan (45:08):
This doesn't make any sense.
So every drift will be absorbedby a squad.
Okay, that makes sense.
So like every.
Well, I don't know what a driftis, but like, oh my god okay.

Fabienne (45:17):
So I actually went to reddit because that's apparently
the place to be.
Obviously.
Oh, give it to me, it says it's.
It says here.
It's common with titles thatare named after places, so in
this case Llewellyn is a city,or like a province in Turandot
or Tyrandor, and the Earl ofLlewellyn is the seat of power

(45:38):
there, so they call himLlewellyn too but why wouldn't
you say the Earl of Llewellyninstead?

Jordan (45:47):
Like nowhere is anybody else called, like we don't call
Zayden Tyrandor or whatever.

Fabienne (45:54):
I know, rebecca, this is only like three extra words
to your fucking manuscript.

Jordan (45:59):
You know the Earl of, and it adds so much more and it
makes the thing is is like Iwould get it if she's saying it
from the fucking beginning, likeshe's doing these sort of
things from the beginning, butno, like she just picks and
chooses, like when she doescertain things and says certain

(46:19):
things that they make no fuckingsense.
And how would anybody know that, unless they looked it up on
reddit, like no one would knowthat.
I just, I mean you as we read,we just assume like okay, now
it's a place and it's a person,but like I don't know, this is
magic.
Maybe these places talk.
I don't know so what you?

Fabienne (46:40):
you can call me amsterdam from now on, because
that wouldn't be confusing I'mgonna call you amsterdam from
now on.

Jordan (46:47):
But like, yeah, no, but like, yeah, that's like what
doesn't make any sense.
Like with her, her books, likeif she just had the consistency
always there, then yes, please.
But it's not and it's but.

Fabienne (47:07):
Thank you for going to reddit and of course I mean
what I gotta do for the podcast, right, and if that's, life
researching something I do, Ireally did.
But you know, someone's gottado it, bro.
I don't know where the bro, butwhere the bro came from.
I'm sorry the bro was here andthen because I read it.
It's like the bro zone itreally is.

(47:28):
It's all like that, yeah yeah,uh, but uh, that's kind of all
that I have on this book for you, that's all.

Jordan (47:40):
I just I don't know.
I feel so bad for anybodylistening.
That was just like all ourthoughts.
We didn't even dive into it.
We just told you how much wedid not like this book, so uh,
there wasn't really anything ofsubstance to dive into, so no,
you're right, I mean I also.
I feel like I finished this andthen everything just left my

(48:00):
brain.
I'm like goodbye world.

Fabienne (48:05):
I I mean in this case it's really not the worst thing
that's happened.
It's a good book.
That it's sad.
But with this I'm, you know, gotta make place for like the
new stuff, exactly.

Jordan (48:16):
I I'll let the old in with the new that's why I really
like I wasn't gonna say it whenwe were like talking in
mid-sentence about Onyx Stormbut I really want to read that
Blood and Steel book because Ifeel like that they say that
like it is like iron, it isfourth wing, it's in this box
too, yeah, I, I can't get it.

Fabienne (48:38):
It's in this box, but it's like Helen and I can't get
off your house and grab it.

Jordan (48:43):
No kidding oh, I'm blood and steel.
Yeah, blood, blood and steelbut I heard, but like it's like,
I guess, like a lot of similarnames are in it too, like I
heard, but I heard it's like abetter version of fourth.
So like I really want, want tolike read that one okay, okay

(49:06):
yeah, but the legends of thesmarinteresting.
We can just like wrap thisepisode up, sorry guys um, if
you listened to this and lovedit.
Um, we are happy that you lovedit and we are so glad you loved
it.

Fabienne (49:21):
Yeah, good for you.

Jordan (49:22):
And I hope you get the next book super fucking fast.

Fabienne (49:26):
Uh-huh, yep, super fucking fast.
Okay, bye.
Thank you so much for listening.

Jordan (49:34):
And please don't forget to rate and review wherever you
can find us.

Fabienne (49:38):
So catch you next time .

Jordan (49:39):
Bye.
