Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the
Boundless Bible.
My name is David Shapiro, hey,I'm Javi Marquez and I'm Jason
Holloway.
Hey guys, welcome back to theBoundless Bible.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Boundless Bible time.
What's going on?
How's it?
Speaker 1 (00:16):
going, you know,
doing good.
Today, jesus heals a paralytic.
This comes from Mark 2, 1through 12.
It also comes from Luke 5, 17through 26.
And, and a very short one, inMatthew 9, 1 through 8.
Some miracles begin with someoneelse's faith.
(00:37):
Ooh, I just feel like this is astory where it's other people's
faith that helped heal this uh,paralytic.
With the, you know, yeah, honestly, with with christ doing
, yeah, um, so you know, kind ofsetting the stage really
quickly, um, jesus is healinglike crazy home.
When you're looking at at luke,um, you know he heals many.
(01:00):
Then he preaches in synagogue,he calls his disciples, he
cleanses a leper, um, and thenhe's going and he is teaching
and there are Pharisees andteachers of the law sitting
around.
Um, people are all over theplace.
They're filtering into a housethat he's in which, uh, a lot of
academic people think thishappens to be Peter's house.
It doesn't really have a wholelot to do with the story In
(01:23):
Capernaum.
In Capernaum Just kind ofsetting the stage of where he
might be and these people areall pressing and listening to
his teachings.
So he's already somebody whowas established Right, people
that want to hear what he has tosay.
He was on a world healing tour, yeah, so right now, we have all
(01:46):
these people around and thereare a bunch of friends who are
carrying their other friend, who's a paralytic, on his bed,
and there's no way for them toaccess jesus.
They can't get in, right, theyknow he's been healing, they
have faith in his healing powersand they have to go up on the
roof and try to lower him fromthere.
Um, but even even before we getto the part where they lower
him down, right, uh, first ofall, these were not roofs that
(02:08):
are like we think of, you know, maybe a little hut, a little mud
hut, yeah, make a little, youknow, hole in it.
Uh, these were made of clay, sticks, tile.
It took a great amount ofeffort, yeah, to rip a hole in
it.
Yeah, there would have beenfalling debris.
It would have been a huge scene, a big scene, yeah, um, and
then even even more than that,in jewish tradition, this is a
(02:31):
serious matter.
Um, under jewish law, you know, this is to rip somebody's home
apart.
Oh, would actually have beenseen as something that you are
destroying somebody else'sproperty.
They can then sure do somethingto you.
You would have to ask forforgiveness.
This is not something they'redoing where it's.
It's not known that this issomething that is against
(02:53):
levitical law, so they'redestroying somebody else's
property.
Um, if you actually believethis is peter's house, you also
have peter who um for somebodywho has kind of a temper, who's
known as having a temper that'sgood call.
He's actually pretty calm here,because if somebody's ripping a
hole in your roof, you know he'sdon't really mention him being
upset, but I imagine he probablyhe was probably fuming a bit,
(03:14):
yeah, probably a little bit sad, yeah, um, so they ripped the
hole off of, off of this, thisroof, and it's a scandal already
and it's messy and it's loudand there are all these things
happen.
You know, sometimes we thinkabout.
It's this very quick moment ofthem ripping a hole in and
lowering them down.
This would have taken a lot oftime right, a lot of noise, a
(03:35):
lot of debris, and so everybodyhas their focus now on what's
going on.
And then they look up andthere's this man being lowered
down to where Jesus is in thishouse, and it is.
I don't know what everyonewould have been thinking, but
Jesus knew.
He knew that this person wascoming to be healed.
(03:56):
Everybody else is looking andgoing.
Is this?
What is this?
Is this a robbery?
Are these people crazy?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Are they nuts?
Speaker 1 (04:04):
What's going on here,
because they're literally
putting a hole in a roof andlowering somebody down.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I mean it's super
intense, right?
I mean this is you have toimagine that these people have
such faith, such intense, Ithink the word that uses
confidence in his, in him.
That's what they in Luke five,in the AMP version.
It says, when Jesus saw theiractive faith springing from
confidence in him.
You know, they didn't pushtheir way through a crowd.
(04:32):
They weren't able to.
Maybe they didn't I don't knowwhich one it was but like they
weren't letting anything,including Peter's roof, get in
their way.
You know, not timber, not roofmaterials, not the people below.
They said nothing is standingin my way of getting in front of
this Jesus man, Like theintensity of that belief, the
(04:53):
strength of them, the boldnessof them, the audacity of them,
before we get into it.
That's what.
That's what this story is about.
To me, it's about being boldand going beyond what anybody,
what you like, like you said, itwould have been a huge faux pas
in jewish culture to do this, and they said forget tradition,
forget the way it's supposed tobe.
(05:14):
I'm doing this because it'sright.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah we gotta get to
him.
They had to.
We have to get to jesus.
We gotta get to this healingguy that's walking around our
town healing everyone.
I gotta see for myself, butalso I gotta I believe, yeah,
you could do it for my friendyeah, this wasn't and, to your
point, it wasn't even that theywanted to see it.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
This wasn't like, uh,
you know, in a fan perspective,
they wanted to play in the gameand they weren't letting
anything stop them.
And like, I'm sure we'll get toit later, but like, this is
what we all need to be in life, right, like we need to say
forget tradition, forget thepeople around me, the
consequences around me,whatever's gonna they might have
all thought they were gonna goto jail well, there was no jail,
but they might have thoughtthere would have been penalties
(05:51):
to be paid or whatever and theysaid I don't care, I don't care,
and that's what you know.
We all kind of need to live likeI mean.
We all need friends like that.
We do, that's it.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
We all need friends
like we all need companions and
friends like that.
I mean, you were saying thisthing in the beginning.
I just feel like he wasparalyzed, he couldn't really
get there himself, so sayingthat you know what I'm saying?
Like we were looking forhealing, he was looking for help
, I could say, and his friendsaid I'm going to help you with
this.
You obviously can't do ityourself.
He hasn't come around to yourcorner or your house.
(06:20):
Let me bring you to this manthat heals your house.
Let me bring you to this, thisman that heals.
Um, and they have this faith, they have this encouragement,
they love this guy and theywanted him to get healed, or he
didn't have faith and just hisfriends.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
That's what I was
actually doesn't say that the
paralytic had faith.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
That's what I was
thinking, because this actually
reminds me when we talked aboutjob.
Job's friends were wereforgiven because of him, and
this is another example ofsomebody being forgiven, or I
mean, he was forgiven of hissins.
That's what he says yep, you'rehealed and forgiven of your
sins because of him.
And this is another example ofsomebody being forgiven, or I
mean, he is forgiven of his sins.
That's what he says You'rehealed and forgiven of your sins
because of your friends.
And so this is another one ofthose millions of little
consistencies that are in theBible throughout.
And if there's a lesson to belearned, there's always people
(06:56):
who can bring you up if you'rearound.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Well, yeah, I believe
that and I think we see that
there with their friends, but wealso see there's another story
obviously that Jesus also healsanother paralyzed man yes yes,
jesus goes to him.
Yes, obviously he has to.
He's paralyzed.
Well, this guy, I think I'm notsaying he, as I say he had
faith or not.
What I'm trying to say is hecouldn't go and reach Jesus
(07:19):
himself.
Right right and obviously atthe end Jesus says well, your
faith is healed.
Not to the friends, he says tothe guy.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
This is the beauty of
all.
I mean your forgiveness, Notthe flip topics, but this is the
beauty of all the miracles tome Is that they're all taken
part in, with these subtlenuances that put the different
stories into play.
One paralytic was approached byJesus.
He didn't have the faith in themoment.
Jesus basically told him heshould, and then he did, and
(07:46):
then he was healed In this casethe guy.
We don't know whether he did ornot, but it wasn't because of
him, it was because of thefriends.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
But I also think this
had to happen this way.
I mean the grand entrance ofthis man getting healed front of
all these peoples, and thestory says, in front of
pharisees.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Well, and and also,
we have to remember and this is
the part in the beginning when Isaid you know there's a big
ruckus, for a reason this is allhappening.
Nobody knows what's going on,right, but jesus does.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
And when he gets
lowered down, jesus doesn't ask
hey, what's going on what it'sabout, because anybody else
would have been like why wouldyou just put a hole?
Yeah, why did you put a hole inthis?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
roof.
Yeah, what's going on?
He says because of your faith.
I love that.
I mean, it's just instantly.
He jumps right in and he goes.
When he saw their faith, hesaid man, your sins are forgiven
.
Now he's seeing their faith,he's healing without knowing
anything, without knowing thesituation.
He knows it because he's jesus, but nobody else does.
(08:42):
And he goes right into this andyou know, this is something
that that happens.
That is really amazing is um,people look at this and they go.
The Pharisees saw him and hewas blaspheming because he was
saying that you're forgiven, andand they go through this whole.
You know this whole thing aboutyou know how can you say that?
somebody's forgiven and all that, um, but it goes further than
(09:02):
that.
You know, forgiveness of sins.
Aside from jesus, them notsaying he has the power to to
forgive sins, because in thetemple, when people go and
sacrifice, they are forgivingtheir sins.
When you do the high holy dayfor atonement, your yom kippur,
you are atoned of your sins.
So humans have told otherpeople they're atoned.
(09:24):
The problem's not that withthis one.
The problem is it's always donein a temple with some sort of
tradition.
This is the part that's nothappening.
They're going.
Who are you?
What's happening?
Speaker 2 (09:34):
in somebody's house
and somebody else is just normal
it's usually happening in god'shouse where they believe that
god is able to do that and thisis the first time it's outside
that and they're seeing that thepower isn't coming from the
temple, it's coming from theperson.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
And that's a huge
deal.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
This is a turning
point in all of this stuff, yeah
this is not a sacred space.
I also want to note that there'sthe line in Matthew 9.
And again, I always read Amp,so I'm always saying the same
thing.
But do not be afraid, son, yoursons are forgiven.
The amp continues by saying thepenalty is paid, the guilt
removed and you are declared tobe in right standing with god.
Yeah, right, so this is what?
(10:13):
Because the first time, one ofthe first times, I read this, I
was like, oh, he's not actuallyhealed, he's forgiven.
So what's the connectionbetween being forgiven and being
healed, and particularly in theold testament times before this
?
Maybe you can speak a littlebit more to this.
But some of those healings werenecessary because the sickness
(10:34):
came from previous sin.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
They did believe that
.
They believed that if you werea sinful person, you were going
to get it was a punishment.
It was God's punishment, right,right?
So, yes, this is something thatoccurs and this is something
that is seen throughout the oldtestament particularly.
Yeah, um.
So, yes, there would have beena lot of jewish people here who
would have thought, well, thisparalytic must have done
something wrong, right, he's notgoing through the proper steps
(10:59):
of atoning for it, right, uh?
And then this man in anon-sacred space is just healing
him.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
And that's what I
love about this story and that's
what I get out of it.
It's that, wait a minute, howdo you have the power to?
I mean, this man did sin, hehad sin, that's why he's
paralyzed.
How can you forgive him?
Where Jesus is going?
Man, you just came through theroof.
You forgive him.
Man Like you have faith, youhave given man like you have
faith, you have so much faithyou're, you're going.
As the simple, the simplicityof of having faith in jesus is
(11:27):
the beautiful thing for me.
Um, salvation is that simple.
Just having faith in god, just,uh, just uh.
What is it?
The?
The faith of him was a steedright and just kind of believing
in god could do that.
Believing in god to go hey, I'msorry, I did something wrong
and he's you're, you're, you'reforgiven, go on and stop sinning
.
You know, I love that fact ofthis faith.
(11:48):
You don't have to jump throughthese hoops, these extra stuff,
you just believe.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
And God will make
your life, he'll turn your life
around.
And you're making me think ofsomething else too.
Again, these guys overcametradition.
They said I don't care aboutthe penalty of what I'm doing
here, I'm not embarrassed bywhat I'm doing here.
They went through.
I mean, imagine their positionwhen they decided to do this
thing and they had no idea whatwas going to happen.
(12:13):
And then Jesus says you areforgiven, and they walk away
free.
To the best of our knowledge, they walk away free and
literally their friend walkswith them.
He walks away.
Yeah, like, sometimes.
Walk away free and literallytheir friend walks with them.
He walks away.
Yeah, like.
Sometimes we have to be willingto take the huge, scary,
unknowable next step in order toget this other kind of peace
that we didn't even believe waspossible, and I think that's a
(12:34):
really cool part of the story aswell.
That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
The other thing,
which is this is now getting I'm
getting a little bit larger inscale.
Let's do it, um, with symbolism.
But the paralytic was also arepresentation of exile in, okay
, judaism, um.
So this is also a conversationwhere jesus is literally healing
the paralytic, so he is endingexile, the exile of the jews, um
(13:00):
.
And now it is the Phariseesgoing.
You know who are you to saythat you can remove the exile?
And he's saying I have thepower on earth to do this.
I have the power on earth to dowhatever I want to do.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
And it becomes a
larger story, potentially
theologically, but it tookpeople standing up for it, to
bring it to him in order to doit.
So it wasn't.
It couldn't happen without somesort of catalyst.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
It was an intercessor
.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
These are four uh
catalysts for that removal of
exile.
Yep, you know, if we're, sincewe're going down the symbolism
road, let's also talk about thefact that the pair of
parallelism, paralytic system,or whatever you want to call it,
is the inability to move.
It's being stuck right.
So spiritually, it's somebodywho can be stuck.
This can be this can be symbolicof somebody who's stuck.
(13:46):
They're just, they don't knowwhere to go, they don't know
what to do, they can't getanywhere without themselves.
Every time they try, they gonowhere, and their friends are
the ones who picked them up andphysically carried him to God.
And God said you are free fromthis stuckness.
Yeah Right, like there's somany stories that always are.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
And even earlier than
that, when you look at you know
you have friends who have faithand they can pick you up when
you're broken Totally and bringyou to a place where you can be
healed and unstuck.
So it goes even further withthe symbolism of you know who
are you surrounding yourselveswith, who in your life are you
surrounding yourself with thatin those moments when you are
spiritually stuck and paralyzed, will lift you up and carry you
(14:32):
to that person.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Right God, literally
put your weight on their back.
Yep, they will carry you theextra distance that you need to
go, even if you're not able to.
Yeah, but then you're able.
But there comes a point whenyou're able to stand up and walk
for yourself again.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
That's good, your
restoration really does come
through others sometimes, yeah, and I think we take it upon
ourselves.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
It comes through
others and through God.
Yes, right.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
And I think at times
we look at it and we go I have
to this, I have to that, andsometimes it's just a matter of
fellowshipping with the rightpeople to go listen at times
when I'm spiritually low andit's going to happen in
everybody's life.
If they think it's not, theyhaven't lived this Christian
life long enough.
When you were low, who have yousurrounded yourself with you?
Bring up Job, and Job's friendsclearly were not giving him the
(15:18):
right advice and he could havefollowed it.
He didn't, but he could havefollowed it all the way through.
And here you have these friendswho, because of their faith in
Jesus, their friend, gets healed.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
This is like the
complete opposite story of Job
right.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah, he could have
followed his friends.
That could have took him down.
But this paralyzed man believedin his friends that I could
have took him down.
But this paralyzed uh, theparalyzed man took believe in
his friends that he could gethealed.
Yeah, and they took him down.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Faith is contagious,
but so is despair.
So if you are, you want to saythat again Faith is contagious,
but so is despair.
Totally so if you are living alife where you are faithful and
you have faithful people aroundyou, you're living positively,
you're living for Christ, it'sgoing to be contagious.
That's the whole point.
But if you're living in despairand you're sad and you feel
(16:09):
depressed and you feel beatenand you're surrounding yourself
with that, by also people whothink that they deserve to be
defeated and beaten and staythere.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
They're going to
bring it.
You can even be in a good placeand be around people like that,
and they're going to bring youright down.
They'll bring you down yeah, Ithink I've said this before in
this podcast but it's easier forpeople to bring you down than
it is to bring you up.
So it's important to be aroundpeople who bring you up.
I mean, it's really, reallyimportant and I think that,
again, like you said, if youhaven't lived in this Christian
life long enough, you know, yes,you can pray your way out of
(16:37):
that hole, but it's a whole loteasier to be pulled out of that
hole by by people when you'resurrounded by the right
community.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah, I love what you
said, Jason, because you know
when he says, uh, what's easierto say your sins are forgiven,
or rise and walk.
Um, I think it really is thesame exact thing, which is, you
know, if you are spiritually low, if you're broken spiritually,
what's easier to say is you'reforgiven.
You can come to me becauseyou're forgiven already, or rise
(17:09):
and walk, walk this Christianlifestyle.
It really is one in the same.
I think it's beautiful.
It's a beautiful symbolicthought of you know the rise and
walk really is.
You know, take up your Bibleand follow.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yeah Well, and you
talked earlier about the exile
right and the symbolism of theof of you know Jesus getting rid
of this being the symbol of theexile being and that's the
other interesting part about thestory, even though we're kind
of past that story now is likehe, he does this miracle and the
Pharisees go.
Who are you Right?
And like.
This is one of the firstclashes and it's in three of the
four books.
It's the first clash where thePharisees are going who are you
(17:44):
Like?
What is this?
Why are you doing things inGod's name without doing them in
God's temple?
Who are you to believe thatyou're capable of doing these
things?
Speaker 3 (17:55):
And he said it and he
said it.
He said I'm the son of man andI have authority to you know, uh
, authority on earth to forgivesins yeah, I mean.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
So this is, this is
the beginning.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
This is like the, the
precursor to the big battles
that are coming, and I thinkthat's also pretty, pretty
interesting yeah, and then atthe very end of this, of this
passage, um, you know, after hepicks up and walk, which one's
that in mark?
Uh, this is in luke 5, okay, um18, uh sorry, 5, 25.
And immediately he rose upbefore and picked up what he'd
been lying on and went homeGlorifying God and amazement
(18:28):
sees them all.
And they glorified God and werefilled with awe saying we have
seen extraordinary things today.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
And I think about
that.
I go who?
All?
Yeah, because in the beginningit's Pharisees and and teachers,
but there's also people in thehouse, such as the disciples and
other people looking for um,whether it's it's healing or
miracles or whatever, justteachings um, they're all amazed
.
I'm going all who's all doesthat mean the pharisees?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
all is an important
word.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
There isn't it, it is
, it is.
Is this a moment where we knowthat not all Pharisees were
against Jesus and not all Right?
You know, so is this.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
It says they were all
astonished and then began
glorifying God.
So were there Pharisees whowere converted in that moment to
think, maybe this is my thing?
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Yeah, I just I love
that little, that little word,
just that all.
And they had seen extraordinarythings today.
They knew, like you saidearlier, the healing wasn't from
the power of the temple or thesacrifice to God.
This was a single man in anunsacred place who's able to
heal.
And this was something that wasextraordinary for them to see
(19:41):
because they had never seen thatbefore.
Pharisees would have beenaround for a long time studying.
They would have known this isnot an ordinary act.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, he didn't do it
in secret and I love that about
Jesus and I mean he had histiming for certain healings that
he didn't want people to knowor just wasn't his time.
But here, obviously, he was onhis road to show that he is the
Son of man.
He's here, he has authority andhe's here to heal.
So he did it publicly and Ithink this is the setup for him
(20:09):
to do it in front of them andgoing hey look, I just healed
this man.
I am the Son of man, I am theperson that you guys have been
praying about and want.
I am the Messiah.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
I stop and think.
Sometimes it's easy to look atthese things from the 10,000
foot view and go, oh, that'scool, there's a miracle.
And then I stop and think, whatif I was really in that room
and I really watched this thinghappen?
What if I really watched?
You know, I was already likeinterested in this guy, yeah,
and then this crazy thinghappens.
This guy gets pulled down.
He's clearly a paralytic.
(20:41):
But then imagine sitting inthis room and you're curious
about this guy and he's teachinggreat stuff, and then all of a
sudden you see this crazy thinghappen.
These guys go way out of theirway and then he gets healed.
Yeah, like, what a crazyfeeling that's got to feel like.
And then when it when it ends bysaying we have seen wonderful,
incredible things today, likethat's not just words, like we
have seen wonderful andincredible things, things we
(21:04):
can't.
I'm even going to the heart ofthe word incredible and
incredible means unbelievablethings.
I have a hard time believing.
You know, the etymology of thatword is is unbelievable.
In Spanish it's incredible,right?
So so, um, incredible,incredible, unbelievable.
So I don't know, it's just.
I think about that and it'slike this had to be such a
spectacular moment.
It had to be an amazing momentand even for these Pharisees it
(21:26):
had to be like a you ever know.
See somebody when they knowthey're wrong but they can't let
it go.
And then and they're like, inside they're fighting it, but
outside, or outside they'refighting it, but inside they're
like uh, what, what, what justhappened?
And I just I'm imagining thatmoment and how incredible and
how wonderful and how wild, andlike life shattering, that
(21:47):
moment must've been for so manypeople.
I don't know, it's a beautifulthought, it's a crazy thought,
and like you have to know thatthe beginning of the end is
coming, or the end of thebeginning or whichever one of
those you want to choose, butlike that's gotta be a signal
that world's about to change.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah, something's
here yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
But the other thing
sorry, the other thing I really
love is like the last thingJesus does in this verse in Luke
5 is I say to you.
He says to the paralyzed man Isay to you, get up, pick up your
stretcher and go home.
I heard it said by one of thepastors in the church, and I
don't remember which one, Ithink it was Pastor Eric, but I
love this thought.
He said why did he say that andwhy is that so important?
(22:21):
It's important because when youare healed, when Jesus comes to
you and says this is yourmoment, I'm fixing this for you,
I'm taking this away from you, this is it.
You can't sit still, you can'tjust stay still at that moment
and keep living the same lifeyou were living.
You have to move on.
And in fact, you need to moveon.
You need to go, do thingsdifferently, you need to act
(22:43):
differently.
Remember, they thought this wasabout a sin too.
You need to not sin in the sameway.
You need to change your life.
You need to literally, physically, mentally and
spiritually move on.
And I found that so, so intenseof a thought.
It's like when, when we aregoing through something and we
finally find our way out of it.
That's an invitation to neverdo what got you in that in the
(23:06):
first place and you need to, andyou need to respect that.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Yeah, that's good.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, you said itgood, I think, I think it's.
I think it's so cool to to tothe way you kind of explain that
, because it's true, once yougive your life to Christ, you're
not the same and you should notact like it.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
You shouldn't right.
Yeah, now imagine thecelebration after those guys
like them and their friend.
They were like dude, you wereright.
That's got to be a fun storytoo.
We should dig that one upsomeday.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
We had done an
episode.
We just we should, we shoulddig that one up someday.
Um, we had, uh, done an episode.
We just did an episode onSamson.
Yeah, um, and Samson did we didwe David?
We did.
By the time this comes out yes,we did, um, but the power of of
(23:59):
God was in Samson.
For his of this, you have thesetting up of everything and the
line is and the power of theLord was with him to heal.
You're talking about Jesus.
The power was within him toheal.
This isn't the strength toagain remember.
This was that parallel whereSamson was there killing people
and Jesus here healing peopleand his power is in him
specifically to heal.
And when you think about thatand you think about going
(24:19):
through something and picking upyour bed and moving and you
have to keep going, this is thathealing moment where the
healing is not okay, I'm healed.
Let me lay here a little bitlonger.
It is hey, I've healed you.
It's time to get moving, it'stime to be on fire for the Lord
and go out there and do all thethings you wanted to do.
(24:41):
That will honor.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
God and to show off
your new gift.
Look, imagine one of the onlyfour people who knew he was
paralytic before.
Now.
The guy's going to go runaround and play soccer in his
hometown.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
They're going to be
like what happened to you.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
You know what I mean.
Like he's going to, like he's,so all of a sudden he is going
to become a testimony.
So all of a sudden he is goingto become a testimony.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Yes, His story is
going to become what converts
others?
What changes the minds ofothers?
At the very least, you'resharing your testimony.
At the very least right and wesee that throughout all the
healing we talked about thewoman at the well right.
She went into town the firstkind of evangelist right.
There's this.
Now you're healed, now you knowwho the messiah is.
(25:21):
He's changed your life.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Now go tell people,
yeah even when he tells you not
to tell somebody or even you'regonna know.
Obviously you said thisparalytic is going home.
He's not going somewhere else,he's going home and they're
gonna know that somethingmiraculous happened.
So even when you don't go outthere and knock on doors and say
, hey, do you know about Jesus?
Just by being different, justby having Jesus in you, people
(25:43):
are going to see it.
They're going to go.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Look at the way he
walks, look at the way Look at
the way he smiles, look at theway he shines, look at the way
he helps.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
He's walking around
with his mat and going what's
that mat for?
Oh well, I was paralyzed andsomebody healed me.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I mean, and again,
and look at that in the modern
day sense, right Like now.
It's like look how, look howkind he is when he didn't used
to be.
Look how willing that guy is tohelp others, look how generous
that guy is.
Look how you know with his timeor whatever like that's.
That's what we're called to do,Like we don't have to have
paralyticism.
I don't know why I can't's beenhealed.
(26:17):
For us, Our challenges havebeen healed.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Our pain has been
healed.
You're right.
You're right, you're healed.
You go and do something, whether it's something relating
to your, your illness that youhad before or not.
You being different, you beinga light, people are going to ask
you like how do you, where doyou, where do you get this
happiness from?
Why are you helping me?
It's like, well, I once wasblind, but now I can see.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
So amen, and his
friends.
They're gonna go and pray foreverybody at this point look
what we did we're praying foreverybody, but this changes
right here.
This changes three livesinstantly.
It changes the lives of the twofriends who lowered them down
right there was two.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
I think there's four.
Oh, it might be four.
I'd have to be four, wouldn'tthere?
So well, I guess, if they wereholding two edges, though I know
you know, it never occurred tome that there might be four.
It'd have to be four, wouldn'tthere?
Well, oh, I guess if they wereholding two edges, though, oh,
you know what, never occurred tome that there might be two.
It didn't to me either.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Never occurred to me.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I thought there had
to be four because there had to
be one person on each cornerholding a rope.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
It'll change the
lives of the friends and the
paralytic.
I mean he's changing multiplelives in one act, miraculous act
, and all the people who watchedit.
So, yeah, I mean this is um,and this is a reward.
Listen, their faith.
We look at the reward of theparalytic going, he gets the
walk, yeah, but it's also the ohthat's good, the faith of now,
(27:27):
the friends who are therelowering them down going.
I mean the gift that they get, knowing right that their faith
is not in vain.
Yeah, I mean, man, what a giftto so many people out there
struggling with their faith.
What a gift that would be to go.
I am a hundred percent sure, wow, yeah, that my faith is well
placed.
Yeah, that's super.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
So what an episode,
guys.
Yeah, Look I.
This is about surroundingyourself with the right people,
people who are godly andChristian and walking the right
path.
They're good and they can bringyou up when you are down.
Yeah, or lower you down, orlower you down to bring you up.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
There you go.
So the question is who are youspending time with?
That's a good question.
So you should take a moment tothink about that, because it may
not be a comfortable answer, and if it's not, then you should
probably look into spendingsome time with some other people
.
