• The hosts affirm each other's unique ways of reflecting Christ
• All agree on the distinction between being light and merely reflecting it

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Boundless Bible.
My name is David Shapiro.
Hey, I'm Javi.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Marquez and I'm Jason Holloway.
Quick questions with David hereagain for our favorite question
time to get to know a littlebit more about you guys.
Let's have it, let's hear it.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Question man Question If someone judged Christianity
by your daily life, what wouldthey see?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hmm, man, that's good .
That's a tough question.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I'll tell you what they would see versus what I
hope they see.
Okay, that's good.
I hope they see somebody who istrying.
I hope they see I know this.
I know that they'll seesomebody who's changed
significantly.
They won't see somebody who'sperfect right.
They won't see somebody who'sgot it all together.
They won't see somebody who isa hundred percent on it all the

(00:53):
time.
They're still going to be somesee somebody who's anxious,
somebody who's, uh, you know, alittle bit overly excited often.
Yeah, Um, you know, there'splenty of things that I could, I
could judge myself for, but I,but I hope that they see that
there would be a faithfulness inall of it, that I'm trying to
get better, that I'm trying todo better, that I'm trying to be
better, to be, uh, you know, more kind, more helpful, and I

(01:17):
think, I mean I think that thathas been the fruit of the spirit
that you know, the fruits thatI've seen from coming back to
the faith, but I, I, I wouldnever hope that people saw
perfection.
I would hope that they see theintent.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
That's good, yeah, that's really good.
I think, for me, what, what Ihope they will see, is a person
that's passionate, that's thatloves God, that wants to
continue to learn and really dogood, and do good to others.
Um, I feel like it's hard tothink about this question
because I think about peoplethat are close to me.
I think about people that passby me through like my daily life

(01:50):
yeah, right, but there's alsopeople that I do life with on a
weekly basis, right Throughchurch and all that stuff.
So, yeah, I think they will seea person that's just passionate
.
I'm a very passionate person, sowhen I speak, I could be either
loud, I could be very quiet, but I could be very intense, and

(02:10):
I think that's what they willsee.
So a person that's maybe attimes, maybe opinionated, or
maybe just really, really strongin what they feel, they believe
, and they could come out wrongsometimes.
One thing I do want to say is,whatever they do see from anyone
is they only see in a glimpse, and not to judge somebody from

(02:31):
their glimpse of what they dosee, you know.
And I guess we're talking aboutsomebody that passes by, but I
also think about Jesus, and whatJesus wants us to do is to
continue to seek him, to do goodso we could live a daily life.
That's good.
So when people do see us, theysee light, they see Jesus.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Yeah, we need to reflect it, right, right, yeah.
And again, I think it'simportant that they see that
there's a difference betweenreflecting light and being light
.
I'm not always going to be apure light, but at least I'm
trying to reflect it.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Yeah, amen, that's good For me.
For me, it depends on who soyou have.
You have the person who knowsme from beforehand.
Yeah, yeah, and I think whatthey see is they will see
somebody who grew up illiterate,um, who is now, you know, an
author of books and doing apodcast and and about, to you
know, complete my doctorate andI think you know you have
something like that where theylook and they go.

(03:19):
How is this even possible?
This kid didn't care aboutschool at all and you know you
have somebody who knew me in thepast.
I said but then you have peoplewho, uh, probably just passed
me in the street and one of thethings I laugh about all the
time my kids tell me is you know, everybody who meets me is
afraid of me.
You know, I'm six, three,almost 300 pounds.
I'm a big scary guy.
Yeah, um, I'm the kind of guywho you're gonna cross the
street away from if you'recrossing, yeah and I think when

(03:41):
people meet me and they go, wow, this guy's actually really
loving and gentle and loves toserve, I just think that once
they meet me, that's what'sbeing reflected.
Is that you know, they knowthat I'm a Christian by how I
act and mine is servitude.
I just want to be a servant.
I totally agree with that fromfrom from somebody who met you?
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, I mean, look, I mean you're, you're, you're.
I've said it before you'reDavid in the body of Goliath.
That's so good, you know.
And it's like you know.
Your first glance is like, oh,that dude's big, he's scary, and
then you're, but your kindnessis undeniable, I mean, and it's
immediate, like the, theimmediate even when I tell you
people about you.
I don't want to like dote onyou here, but I, you know, heard

(04:20):
stories of you know somebodyneeding something and like you
grabbed the Christmas treebefore it was even for the
person that even finished, andlike put it on top of their car
because they didn't have aChristmas tree.
And it's like you know that itthat I hope a lot of people are
seeing Christianity through yourreflection.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Yeah, they can look past the beard and the tattoos
and the fact that you were MMAfighter and you could break them
in half.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, yeah, you're making me scared right now.
I hope they can pass this theycan look past it Hopefully it's
reflecting the right thing.
Yeah, yeah, but no, I mean, look, I think it's.
It's such a fascinatingquestion because it keeps you on
your toes right, like if, if weare supposed to be the
reflection of Christ, how are wereflecting it?
I mean, like I said, in yourcase it's definitely kindness
and servitude.
You know, I think in your case, javi, if I have to like look at

(05:12):
you, I think it's, I think it'syour, your faithful heart.
You look at everybody the sameway, I think.
I think I've never seen youlook at one person differently
than another.
Everybody's a child of God andyou look at that and I have no
idea how I'm reflected, but youknow I'm doing my best, guys.
I think you're doing great.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Alright, guys.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Well, since, we're all doing great.
We'll see you next week.
Appreciate it Later.
Bye.
