Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the
Boundless Bible.
My name is David Shapiro, hey,I'm Javi Marquez and I'm Jason
Holloway.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Bablam, bablam,
muchachos Ya estamos aquí, ya
estamos aquí por los questionscon David Que, hey, let's do it.
Come on, what's our question,my friend?
All right.
So the question is what's a it?
Come on, what's our question,my friend?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
All right.
So the question is what's alesson God's been teaching you
lately?
I'm not going first.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
You're not going
first on that one.
No way, david, you don't gofirst often I can go first,
that's fine.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I'll tell you that
God teaches me this lesson often
and he's been doing it to melately, which is to take some
time with him, some quiet timewith him to just slow down.
If you know me, I move a millionmiles an hour.
I'm always doing a bunch ofdifferent things.
So for me to not taking sometime afterwards and just
(01:08):
listening for the nudge, theanswer, what you're looking for,
I think there's a mistake withmy prayer sometimes, because I'm
praying and then I'm moving on.
I'm like, you know, catch youwhen you're ready to answer my
prayer and I'm not just takingthat moment with God.
And then, on top of that, Ialways feel better when I really
just have a moment to read myBible, to sit and listen and
(01:30):
have a relationship time withGod.
So I think, really, the lessonI've been nudged on multiple
times is just slow down, slowdown, spend some time with me.
So I think that that'ssomething that I'm enjoying
doing now, and I don't alwayslisten to it, but when I do it's
always refreshing.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
That book mentions of
the heart that I think I was
telling you about a couple ofweeks ago talks exactly about
that, especially at like acertain level in your, in your
walk to to spend less time beinga Christian like out in the
world and be more time being aChristian with Christ.
That's good.
And it talks about.
You know, like, about, justlike you said in the beginning
of your Christian walk, there'sa lot of asking and asking, and
asking, and telling, and telling, and telling, and later on you
(02:08):
realize that you need to listenand listen and listen something
I'm working on too my prayerslast three seconds, because I
have squirrel.
Javi, what's yours?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I would say that
episode we did with Pastor Dan.
He just dropped the mic for meand he said take God more
seriously and don't takeyourself so seriously.
Yeah, that's super importantand that's profound for me,
because that's what God's beentelling me lately.
What he's telling me is which Istruggle with, taking the first
steps, taking some riskswithout like really analyzing
(02:42):
things Right, and to me, what Ikeep hearing is you're that's
disobedience, you're not obeyingwhat God has put in your heart,
and I know very well that hehas my back.
He's going to lead me forward.
This is what I feel very strongthat whatever he puts in my
heart, it's from him, you know, and one of the big steps was
this podcast for me and I tookit and it's been amazing and I
(03:03):
need to stop holding on to whatgifts that God has for me.
Yeah, and by taking myself moreseriously I stop.
I don't do those things and tome, not only that, that quote
really is saying also justreally continue to seek God more
(03:25):
intently, continue to go afterhim with a fervent heart.
Right, and I think at times Idon't.
Maybe I go after myself andwhat I want, my desires, more
than I do for him.
So I think that's somethinghe's been teaching me lately.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
I've actually seen
that with Javi Knowing, javi,
you know, outside of you as well.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I'm seeing it too.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, it's definitely
, which is such a great thing.
It's freeing as well, becauseyou get to do some things that
otherwise you would hold reallytightly to, and I don't take
myself so seriously.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
God, you got this.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
And I've seen that
with you and it's really great,
thank you.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
It bothers me.
For me, mine is, and I've beentalking about this I don't
remember if I've said it on thepodcast but, like one of the
things that I've been notstruggling with but seeing a
separation in is the academicand scholarly knowledge and
information and knowing thingsand needing to know things and
digging deeper, and that's likeone side of the faith.
(04:18):
But the other side of the faithit's just that you just know.
It's there, that you feel it,that you're trustworthy, that
you're right, that you're, thatyou're trustworthy and that
you're faithful and that you'retrying to do the right thing and
that you're.
You're just acknowledging thefeelings behind it.
You're becoming.
It's becoming a part of you.
It's not becoming a part ofyour knowledge, it's becoming a
(04:40):
part of who you are.
It's not just another thingthat you know.
And I've been working a lot on,like you said, the prayer side
and like being really close toGod as if he was my friend,
who's right next to me, andtalking to him and being closer
to that.
Because no matter how much I'veread in my life, no matter how
many facts I've accumulated, nomatter how many disciplines I've
(05:03):
accumulated them in or put themtogether with, they don't have,
they don't turn you.
Actually, pastor Garland saidthe greatest thing the other day
.
We were talking about somethingsimilar and he said he had a
professor in college who saidyou'll never teach a person
enough facts to turn them into aChristian, but you will be able
to love them enough to turnthem into a Christian and that's
one of those things that hesaid, that that somebody else
said to him, that I know I'm nowgoing to say to somebody else
(05:23):
because it's it's, it's one ofthose things that you said here
and I did, and it's it'sunbelievably sticky because it's
unbelievably true, right Likeyou when you internalize what
this faith is really about.
When you internalize what thisfaith is really about, when you
truly follow Christ not religion, not Christianity, not a church
, but you follow Christ you arechanged.
(05:46):
And when you allow yourself tobe changed, you can help bring
that change to others.
And that's where the belief isLike.
That's what belief is, issaying I know how changed I've
been and even thoughphilosophically or
psychologically I may notunderstand it at times and I may
(06:07):
even go through holes where itdoesn't feel good, the reality
is I know it's true and that'swhat matters, and that that is
the belief, that is the love, that is the care, like that's
everything.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
It's everything so
just trying.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Trying to like
rectify those two sides of me
has been the big thing.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I love seeing that I
I can attest to anything I you
have been doing, that you havebeen like, you have taken the,
the, the extra step of reallyapplying what telling you, and
you have been loving, you havebeen praying for others and you
have been stepping up forward, going hey God, I'm going to let
you lead and I'm just going tobe your vessel.
Yeah, and I love that about you.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, trying to
that's awesome.
Yeah, good Thanks, guys.
Uh, another another questionsin the books.
Uh, we'll see you next time.
Bye Later.
