Boundless Bible.
My name is David Shapiro, hey,I'm Javi Marquez and I'm Jason
Holloway.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Quick questions with
David.
Wow, that's me.
There we go.
All right, guys, question time, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
All right, if you had
a faith highlight reel, what
moment would play first?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
This is such an
interesting question.
Yeah, let me go first as thevisual guy as the video guy, as
the video guy, let's do it Allright, av it up.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
When I think about
that, I think about the first
clip that's coming into mind.
It's me getting baptized withmy wife.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
No, way with my wife
no way, yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
So we, you guys, did
it together.
Yeah, we did it together, I didnot know that.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
That's amazing, yeah,
yeah.
So we got a chance to kind ofum come to faith together and
just kind of give our life toChrist together, and we did the
baptism together and it wasamazing, we, we.
It was just so great thisjourney together.
I'm not and I'm yeah to behonest, I'm one of the I don't
want to say I'm one of the few,but to have somebody like my
(01:09):
wife to be on this journey withme and we've started from the
beginning on this journey iskind of it's been kind of great,
um, yeah, and we got the bestthing that's.
That was to be the first thing, just getting celebrated people.
Uh, we, we had dinner after.
It was amazing, it was, it wasjust this is.
We didn't turn back that's thebest thing about it.
We just love it.
That's awesome.
Yeah, you have pictures.
(01:30):
Maybe I gotta see.
I probably got a video.
I think you probably got avideo literally see your
highlight reel go for it.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
uh, for me, my faith
highlight reel would have to be
I, um, when I graduated fromseminary, um, I got a really
beautiful Bible for my wife shegave me as a gift, just gorgeous
.
And I remember I startedgetting into collecting Bibles
and I started collecting olderBibles and ones from the 1800s
(01:58):
and as I was going through anold box, I saw a Bible in it.
I'm going why is there a Biblein here?
And it wasn't something from aJewish temple, it was just a
regular Bible.
And when I looked at it it hadmy mom's name on it, really, and
yes, but not her.
Her name was Doreen D-O-R-E-E-N, and this was Doreen, but the
(02:20):
same middle name and same lastname.
What?
And yeah, and I don don't.
I still have no idea if that washers because she had passed, so
I'm not sure if that was herbox that you're talking about
this was a memory box that I hadthat was filled with old
memories, but I don't know ifthat was her bible or somebody
else that.
I have no idea how it got inthere, but it was just that
(02:41):
moment of again my, she hadalready passed by then.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
She, she had already
passed.
That's why.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
She accepted Jesus
Christ right before her death.
This was something that was abig, stirring moment in my faith
, where I still wasn't abeliever but then to find an old
Bible that I'm collecting withher almost name on it, that is
crazy.
It was just one of those faithmoments where I'm going all
right, god like this is Wellplayed.
(03:05):
Yeah, this, this is good.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So that was, that was
a faith moment.
Yeah, you know, it's funnybecause when you ask the
question a minute ago, obviouslyyou want to think of the big
ones, right, when you walked outfor your baptism, down the
altar call, or you know themoment that God touched you on
the shoulder and said this isfor you.
And I've told all those stories, right.
But, like, what actually hit mewas the times when I wasn't a
(03:28):
Christian, and specifically mytwenties.
You know, I I actually got intwo really, but three actually,
19, 20 and 20 something else Igot in really bad accidents that
I should have been destroyed.
I mean, they were all terrible, terrible accidents.
And I remember, after the shockhad worn off and I wasn't a
Christian anymore, thinking, okay, I don't know, god was
present with me.
He was telling me like and Ididn't want to accept it because
that's what I was at that timeI'm like, no, this can't be.
(03:50):
But I remember having theseconversations with God as a
non-Christian saying why did yousave me?
Why did you let me stay here?
Everybody else, every Christian, would tell me like, oh,
there's something bigger thatyou're meant to do, and I don't
know it and I'll never know it.
I'm getting choked up right now, like and I didn't know it and I
didn't believe it at that timeand it was really intense to be
(04:12):
sitting there having aconversation with God as a
non-believer and being so in myown hole that I couldn't even
see it at the moment.
And now I look back and I'mlike it was right there.
It was literally like thatfootprints poem, like even when
there was one set of footprints,it was not just you, that was
me and like that was it.
Like he was literally likeholding me in his arms and like
walking me through these stupidthings that I had gotten myself
(04:33):
into.
And and I'm still sitting theretalking about me, me, me, me,
me, and.
But I was having theseconversations and it's really
beautiful to look back inretrospect and think how clearly
he was there, even when Iwasn't there for him.
Yeah, yeah, and that's a wildthing.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
And that's the thing.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Love.
I mean, that's nothing but loveLike that's truly intensely,
furiously true love.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
So yeah, that's mine,
that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
This was a good one.
Yeah, fun times, guys, allright.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
All right, see ya
Later, guys.
Bye.
