Quick questions with
David.
New song.
New song guys All right, Alwaysexcited to find out what our
questions are going to be, sohit me.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
All right.
When did the name Jesus becomemore than just a name to you,
ooh Jesus.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Wasn't expecting that
one Jesus.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, I will start,
I'll give you guys a chance to
think about it.
So the name Jesus, it's veryinteresting as a young Jewish
person, the first time I heardhis name was actually in a bad
way.
It was that my people killedthe you know the God of another
people, right, and that's what Iwas told and I was like man,
(00:39):
that's, that's awful and I feelguilty about that.
I don't really know who this is, but that was the first time I
heard the name Jesus and then itbecame almost.
You know, I use the word Jesuswhen something would happen.
I'd stub my toe.
It was just one of those thingswhere it never meant anything
to me.
(01:00):
And I remember when I firstaccepted Jesus as my Lord and
Savior, it was a weird thing tosay his name that way.
Now I've been saying his namefor 30 years in the wrong way or
in an in a negative context.
It took a little while for meto say Jesus or Jesus Christ in
a way where it felt natural andand it felt strong and it felt
reverent.
And I remember that it wasprobably about a year after I
accepted him.
(01:21):
I was just having aconversation with somebody and
it rolled off my tongue in ateaching way and I was like,
yeah, there it is.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
There it is.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
There it is.
It came out and it felt naturaland wonderful and since then
I've been able to say his namewith a feeling of reverence and
love and just natural.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, what about you,
javi?
That's a good one.
Oh, you're muted hello thereyou are.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, I don't know
why I must have pressed it by
accident.
Do you want to ask that again?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
what?
What about you?
How are you?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
okay, when did the
name name Jesus become more than
just a name to you, um?
Speaker 3 (02:11):
that is a good
question.
Um, I'm thinking about severaldifferent times.
You could say um, so for me waswhen I first gave my life to
Christ.
Obviously, the name means somuch more than, but I think I
started thinking about moreabout my faith as I continue to
be christian and just kind oflike, continue to like dive into
(02:31):
christianity.
Um, that using jesus in vainthe name hurt me, like pierced
my ears almost right.
It really bothered me and Ithink that's's where I would say
that the level of that name andwhat he has done for me and who
he is it became a big thing forme.
So I would say around the timethat I gave my life to Christ,
(02:54):
but also studying more of whatthis is and who he is.
So I would say I don't know ifyou want a date, but 2015.
Around that time, I think, whenI first gave my life to Christ,
is where his name became hugefor me and like really being
(03:17):
careful of not using his name invain and stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Yeah, mine's maybe a
little bit more complicated.
I mean, when you grow up in thechurch, the word Jesus is just
always there, right?
It's always there, it's alwaysa name, it's always a person.
You never really question it.
So it was always there.
And then as I grew, it becamemore and more of an abstract
concept, because we talksometimes about Christianese.
(03:41):
People use words, and they'veused them so many times that
they stop even meaning anything.
It just whatever.
And so I think the word jesuswas always a kind of an
abstraction to me.
And then I was having, like thethe easter sunday experience and
realizing that this man lived aperfect life.
(04:01):
This man died on this cross andthis man was real.
This man suffered and I knewwhat suffering felt like.
This man was empathetic topeople and good to people, and I
know what it's like to beempathetic and good to people
and this man was sacrificial tous and I know what it's like in
(04:22):
some sense to be sacrificial topeople.
And when I was able to alignwho Jesus really was with a part
of me and say, hey, he was aman like me, then, you know, and
I stopped seeing him as thedeity, and that's probably bad
to say, but I stopped seeing asthe deity and I started seeing
him as the human, and I startedseeing his humanness and I
(04:44):
started seeing his humancharacteristics and how alike we
were, how different we werealso, but how alike we were and
how much I wanted to be morelike it.
That's when the word Jesusbecame real.
Real and it became somethingthat I could aspire to,
something that I could neverlive up to, but aspire to
nonetheless, because it'ssomething I should be doing.
(05:05):
So I think that's my answer.
That is beautiful, love it.
Cool.
You caught me off guard withthat one, but I think it took me
to a good place.
