David, Javi, and Jason explore what they consider the most underrated characters in the Bible, sharing personal insights about overlooked figures whose brief appearances carry profound theological significance.

• David selects Simeon, the righteous man at the temple who recognized baby Jesus as the Messiah and understood His mission would reach both Jews and Gentiles
• Javi chooses Joseph, highlighting his exceptional faith in accepting Mary's pregnancy and the immense pressure of raising Jesus despite not being His biological father
• Jason champions "Doubting Thomas," arguing his skepticism was actually brave honesty that led to profound faith
• The group discusses how Thomas deserves a "rebrand" from his negative nickname to something that recognizes his courage
• All three characters demonstrate different aspects of faith: prophetic insight, faithful obedience, and honest questioning

Jason (00:05):
quick questions with david.
We are back with another quickquestions from david and some
background singing by hobby.
Thank you very much, uh, sowhat is our question?

David (00:15):
this week david.
The question this week is whatis the most underrated character
in the bible in your standards?
The most underrated?

Jason (00:25):
character.
David, you get to go first.

David (00:26):
I'll go first.
I'll go first, and mine wasSimeon, and Simeon was a
righteous man at the temple atthe time that Jesus was
dedicated to the temple as ababy, and the reason he's
underrated.
Yeah, the reason to me he'sunderrated is this is a man who
the holy spirit told him that hewould still be alive to meet

(00:49):
the messiah, and that he wouldbe able to to he'd be reaching
out to the gentiles and the jews, so he's the first one to know
that jesus was coming and toknow that he was going to be
preaching to Gentiles and Jews.
That, to me, he's one of themost underrated characters.
I would love to see a lot moreabout him.

(01:09):
His life it leaves me justwanting to know more about him.

Jason (01:15):
That's a B-side right there.
You went for a deep cut.
You went for the deep cut.

Javi (01:21):
Wait, is that the guy?
No, it's Simon, the one thatwalked with Jesus to the road to
the cross, that helped him liftthe cross.

Jason (01:29):
No, no, no, no, no, but that's a good one, javi, you're
going to pick that one.
That's a good one.
Well, he was the Ethiopian guy, right?
Yeah, is the one you're talkingabout.
I don't remember his name,though.
Oh, that's bad.
We don't remember his name,though.
Okay.

David (01:44):
Yeah, simeon was.
This is.
Jesus is still a baby at thispoint, so this is not.
Yeah, this was not at hiscrucifixion, this was at his
birth.
This is when he was firstdedicated to the temple.

Jason (01:57):
I know what you're picking now, Javi, though.

Javi (02:05):
No, when.
When he said that, I firstthought about that.
I was like wait, that's awesome, david, so many names crossed
my mind.
I'm going to go with Joseph.

David (02:11):
Mary and Joseph, I think.

Javi (02:13):
Joseph doesn't get enough credit to the story of Jesus,
and just kind of raising Jesus Imean, can you imagine he didn't
give birth to Jesus, he wasn't,you know, but his faith and
going through with the marriageand continue on with Mary, I
think is something to to applaudand just kind of give you know

(02:34):
grace to and just kind ofunderstand that he was at
difficult roads at many timesand to be able to raise Jesus
the way he did, and just kind ofbeing there, I think it's
something to witness and kind ofsee you know he's definitely
underrated.

Jason (02:50):
Yeah, I agree with that.
That's a good one.
I mean, what kind of person doyou have to be to in order to
raise the son of God?
Like you, you have to know thathe was of exceptional quality
human.
Just just because that, I meanthat that's a good one.
I like that.

David (03:07):
The pressure of raising.

Jason (03:08):
The pressure, the pressure as you imagine.

David (03:12):
Yeah, what about you, Jason?
What's your?
What's your?

Jason (03:15):
character.
So yeah, look, I've said itbefore, I'm a huge fan of
Doubting Thomas.

David (03:20):
I'm a huge fan you know there's not a whole lot about.

Jason (03:22):
Doubting.
There's not a huge fan.
There's not a lot written abouthim.
I know his name was Didymus, wasn't he Didymus?
Is that right?
He was Didymus, he did greatthings out afterwards to do a
whole lot of great things too.
And, like you know, peopledon't talk about his missions

(03:43):
afterwards, they don't.
I think it was Indio's his bigthing, right, but I which I
think is amazing, but I mean theyou take that with who he was
before and you take it with thewhy he's called Doubting Thomas.
Because he walked in, he sawJesus and he said how can I be
sure that's you?
And like, just that moment forme is one of those, such an
important moment of like he sawhim and had a hard time

(04:04):
believing, and so, like if hehad that, like I shouldn't worry
about my doubts, I shouldn'tworry about the days where I'm
lying in bed, going questioningthings for the sake of
questioning them, Just for thesake of being a human who
questions things and getsskeptical about stuff.
Like if he was able to be thatdoubtful when he was literally
staring him in the face, um, andstill go on to do the things he

(04:24):
would do in india beyond thatand and who else knows what he
did?
Who knows what else he did overthe?
I guess there's probablywritings about it.
I haven't read yet, but, um,you know what?
What an important character andyet you know he's kind of
relegated to most services asthat guy who wanted to touch the
scars.
You know it's like so yeah, that's my that's my underrated
character.

David (04:43):
And how brave for the payoff.
Listen, he's the only one totouch the holes in jesus's hand,
and he had the courage not onlyto doubt, he had the courage to
say I doubt you, um, which Ithink jesus calls us to do.
If you were doubting, he saidI'm big enough to handle that,
let's talk, yeah, and?
And the payoff was not only.
He got to touch the holes inJesus's hand and went further

(05:04):
than any other disciple.
Talk about taking you know, whatever somebody calls on you.
I mean, his title is DoubtingThomas.
Take that off his name, causeman he got a bad nickname,
didn't he?

Jason (05:16):
Yeah, he did, yeah, yeah, he could have been faithful,
thomas right we're gonna callhim all kinds of stuff, but
brave, let's, let's do that.
I think that guy needs arebrand.
So all right, guys.
Thank you, uh, as always, foryour time.
This was super fun, as always, and we look forward to the next
questions next week.
Talk to you then.
Thanks bye, see you guys.
