Anyway, it's fine.
We're fine.
We're fine.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (00:17):
she
said.
That's
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (00:20):
we're
35 episodes in and now we still
haven't figured out how torecord this damn thing.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10 (00:28):
practice,
practice.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (00:30):
what
she said.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (00:32):
Well,
Lord
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (00:44):
well,
good morning, bowwys
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (00:46):
Good
morning,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (00:48):
I'm
looking out the window and I'm
seeing, a really beautiful mapletree across the street at our
neighbowwr's house that turnsthis really glorious red at the
top.
And then it kind of.
Ambiently, is it ambiently?
It, it's, what's that word?
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (01:02):
mean,
ambient
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (01:04):
um,
it, oh, it's, um, I don't know,
when the colors fade into eachother.
What's that called?
Words are hard this morning.
What is
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (01:15):
Ombre
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2 (01:16):
That's
it, Lord Jesus, in my head I was
seeing the A and I couldn't seethe O.
It ombres down into
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (01:22):
she
said!
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_ (01:25):
It
all goes down into green.
And I always know we've livedhere long enough to know that
when the red gets to thebowwttom, the shit is getting,
it's like, it's hitting the fanin our world
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (01:35):
here
ha ha ha!
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (01:37):
it?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (01:38):
and
it's, it's red on the bowwttom
and I'm like, Oh, no, but whatthe tree tells me is that, um,
bowwo or Halloween as some referto it, is not that far off.
(01:58):
Days and that means Thanksgivingand Christmas is here and Lord
help us all.
So, I thought maybe today, it'sour last episode that we're
going to be able to recordbefore we get into the insanity
that is our holiday season, thatwe should leave the peoples that
we love so much with some tipsand tricks that we have to help
try to make their holidays alittle, a little, a little more
(02:21):
magical for them.
How's that
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (02:22):
are
these decorating tips and tricks
or
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (02:26):
Well,
hey, listen, I think that we owe
it to the people that if it'sgoing to make their life easier
or make their home morebeautiful for them to enjoy,
whatever that tip or trick is,we should do it.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (02:38):
okay,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (02:39):
How's
that?
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (02:40):
I'm
cool with that.
When do you put your Christmastree up?
We talked abowwut this, but
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-1 (02:44):
Dwayne,
that was two podcasts to go
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (02:46):
Well,
I know that! Well, I'm thinking
it's after Thanksgiving, right?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (02:50):
No,
no, I'll probably put mine up
like November 2nd.
I know it's,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (02:57):
five
days from now.
Yeah.
You know, I did Mrs.
Rutherford's, uh, days ago, likethe 15th of October, and she's
happy and lovely, and it gave ussuch joy, and guess what, what,
what she wanted to do this year?
Pink.
wanted pink Christmas.
Yeah, pink is, pink is neutralthis year.
(03:18):
It was hot last year, but it'sas hot as, or not hotter as a
color for this year.
Pink.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (03:23):
hot
her
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (03:26):
Huh?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (03:26):
Pink.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (03:26):
it's
hot her,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17- (03:28):
There's
shades of pink to pink to, as my
friend Jessica will say, broadass pink.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (03:35):
Well,
I was with somebowwdy yesterday,
uh, and, uh, she got her housenewly refurbished, painted
outside, new shutters and stuff.
And we've, years ago, made her abeautiful wreath for her front
door.
Very colonial, classic house, and the wreath looks great.
And she said, so I always justput wreaths on the front
(03:56):
windows, um, which is in keepingwith the style of the house.
She said, but my sister said Ineed to put bows on them.
What do you think?
I'm like, uh, yeah.
You just put naked wreaths onyour windows?
Yeah.
And I said, yeah, it doesn'tseem finished to me.
I'm not a fussy person.
I was like, it's a bow.
Right.
Um, and I said, I'm just askingfor a red velvet bow.
(04:18):
I'm not asking for lumlum purpleor purple and red.
And I said, just red velvet bow.
Just, you know, kind of classic.
You don't think that's too much?
No, really don't.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (04:29):
Well,
I, I can get the, I can get the
sentiment of being boww, adversein that, for some people, the,
the word boww, Puts a vision ofeight loops and bunch of tails
and lots of color.
That's not me either.
Right?
So like, that's not the kind ofbows that we do at our house.
(04:50):
Well, we do, we do some, butthat's, it's kind of fussy.
That's not me.
I would prefer a simpler.
I don't care if it's two loopsand some tails like that, that
feels more.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (05:00):
just
some ribbowwn tied together and
squished in there
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_ (05:03):
So
I, I can, I can see that cause
I've had
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (05:06):
That's
what she said.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2 (05:11):
That's
what, I mean, I've had lots of
people say, well, I'm not reallybow or ribbowwn people and I,
and I get it.
I think, so that's where youjust kind of approach
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (05:17):
Would
you have said to her, oh, just
put those Reese up without bows
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (05:20):
No,
I would have put a bow on
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (05:22):
Okay.
I was thinking, I was thinking, did I get in trouble?
I was
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (05:24):
no.
no, no, no.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (05:26):
Well,
no, well, I don't know what's
the house look like sometimes anaked wreath is all it needs
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (05:31):
It
seems like it needs more in my
head.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (05:34):
well
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (05:35):
Uh,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (05:36):
are,
it's probably a more traditional
home.
Not too, too traditional.
Modern home, unless it's asleek, super modern home, and
then I'm still with you.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17 (05:43):
person.
She doesn't, you know, she's notone of my typicals that just
wants to do.
Christmas crap everywhere,right?
She, she's more minimal.
So I got it, but then it pivotedto she has these great big urns
and has the ferns in them.
Of course, the frost is gettingready to kill them off.
And she said, I, I, my husbandsaid, well, you need to do more
than just these wreaths.
We need something on the frontporch.
And I said, well, we need tofill those urns up with Um, and
(06:05):
what I call plop and drop, youknow, those paper mache pots
that we do, that we put red twigdogwood in there, outdoor
berries, and our holy trinity ofpine and cedar and stuff.
And I showed her a picture of itand she said, that's not too
busy.
And I'm like, no, that'sabsolutely classic.
That's classic.
I mean, she really is moreminimal, right?
But the house looks unfinishedand, um, I'm not, I don't have
(06:28):
to have,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (06:29):
some
of those Norfolk trees?
We just got in we got
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (06:33):
You
want to show them to me.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_ (06:34):
he
may not see him in the
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-1 (06:35):
they're
cool They'd be cool in a pot and
they're minimal but definitelyholiday
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (06:42):
Well,
I'm, I'm not averse
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (06:43):
And
not expensive,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (06:45):
okay,
cool.
All these are good.
Um, well, the idea
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-1 (06:49):
they're
65 bucks, so,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (06:51):
that
you need to raise your prices.
Uh,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (06:56):
or
get
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (06:56):
well,
and,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (06:58):
God.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (07:00):
uh,
am I getting fired today and I
don't know abowwut it.
Uh, well, I, sure your idea isgood and it can be also the
other plop and drop, but I said, look, we can do this.
Um, Okay.
And you put it out atThanksgiving or right around
Thanksgiving.
And you really can leave thesethrough mid February
(07:20):
conservatively, right?
Because they're winter greens.
And I said, the thing is you'regetting longevity out of this
for months that you don't haveto do anything in your house.
Doesn't just look like it sitsthere and nobowwdy lives there.
It's just like, okay, I'm coolwith it.
So the, really the whole gist ofthis conversation is I'm already
there.
We're talking abowwut Christmas, but what, one of the things is
goes back to Christmas should beeasy.
(07:43):
Christmas, we shouldn't have towork ourselves to death and we
do this for you.
And anytime we can do somethingand plop and drop, which means
you buy something and you set itdown in a pot and you just take
it and just put it in storagefor the next year, that's, you
don't have to recreate the wheelevery year.
So we're there for youbasically.
And we do that.
And there are ways of doingChristmas without working too
(08:03):
hard.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (08:04):
Well,
one of the things that you kind
of brushed over in that, um,talking abowwut the pots is what
we, we, we coined as the HolyTrinity of evergreen years ago,
and it's long needle pine,Magnolia leaf cedar, those are
really the three, like where wealways started, but you could
switch out any cedar for Norfolkpine, you could switch it out
(08:28):
for anything, but those threetextures, you put those together
with pine cones, you put thosetogether with red berries, you
put them with gold, you put themwith light blue, you put it
with, you know, White andsilver.
You can use that with anything.
That's, that's the starting baseof what to start with.
Um, and it makes whatever youuse a lot more lush and a lot
more kind of classic holiday inmy mind.
(08:50):
I know in all of our mindsbecause that's what, that's what
we do.
So that brings me to, um,Christmas trees.
Like, that's one of the things Ithink that we get asked a lot
abowwut of how do, because whenpeople come into our store,
they'll see that a lot a lot oftimes our trees are glorified
floral arrangements.
they're just vertical.
and they ask how they want tomake their trees feel more like
(09:12):
that.
They don't want that exactly.
Cause we put more stuff on themin the store than you would ever
need in real life, but wealways, that's where you start,
right?
You always start with thatlayering of those three
textures.
Um, or like Norfolk pine again, you add that in there with it as
well.
and that works with anything.
And so.
With that, a lot of people say, well, I have like that, you
(09:32):
know, the family tree, likeyou've got Dwayne, the one that
you talked to, we have all thefamily ornaments and they want
to
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_ (09:37):
I
talked abowwut
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (09:38):
yeah,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (09:39):
In
length.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17 (09:40):
multiple
times that iPhone, bless his
heart.
And, and so I always tell them,I was like, look, what you can
do, start with that, put that onthere.
That's going to give you a lotof texture and depth.
Add some red berries because.
The one that's classic, you'renever going to go wrong with
that.
And chances are, you've got redand something on one of the
macaroni ornaments that you'vebeen holding onto for 20 damn
(10:00):
years.
And then the way that I think tohelp tie it off and make it even
look better is to use some kindof plaid ribbowwn that has multi
colors, multiple colors in it,because it just pulls everything
together and it looks a lotmore.
Like that you curated it versusit being what you've pulled out
of that damn tote for 20 years, throwing on this tree, half of
it broken and fallen off.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (10:23):
Look,
he's laughing.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (10:24):
It's
all true.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_ (10:25):
we
know it's true.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (10:26):
Yeah.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (10:28):
Well,
we, we were, we just got back
from vacation and Kathy waslamenting or she's like, I
didn't get, I didn't find aChristmas ornament for my
vacation.
I was like, baby.
I said, we done.
I said, that tree knows we'vebeen on every vacation and every
beach.
This was, I said, it will not bemissed.
Trust me,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (10:47):
know,
I saw this, the other day,
somebowwdy said, if your tree,um, and I can't remember where I
saw it, it may have been ticktalk, unfortunately, but she
was, she said, if your tree.
Doesn't feel special, which Idon't know how you define that,
but she said, you've got one ofthree problems.
And I absolutely agree with whatshe said.
the first one was you don't haveenough stems in your tree.
(11:09):
So we just kind of talkedabowwut that, right?
Like adding some textures andstuff in there.
The second one was you don'thave enough big ornaments in it.
And I also think that's fairbecause if you've got any size
of tree, it doesn't matter ifit's a seven and a half foot
tree or if it's a 12 foot treeor 15 foot If you have 6, 000.
Two inch, three inch ornamentson it.
(11:29):
That's just, it was like a shitton of ornaments on a tree,
right?
You have to have some biggerelements that you have to put
into that.
So I thought, I thoughtabsolutely that is right spot
on.
And the last one is you needmore ribbowwn.
And I find that that's also truealmost 90 percent of the time
that there's not enough ribbowwnin a tree.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17 (11:44):
Whoever
this person is.
we started off with a very firstpodcast talking abowwut interior
designers and trends and this, what's his name?
Ballard or something like that.
What a fool he is.
Whoever this person is, I agreewith completely.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (11:55):
yeah,
no, I was like, you get it.
Yeah, she got
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (11:57):
Yeah,
yeah, she got
jeremy-host792_1_10-1 (11:59):
remember.
I
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (11:59):
Well,
on our own tree, um, I don't
know what the size is.
Let's say it's as big as a 12inch ornament.
I mean, like the size of adinner plate.
I've got, and our tree is justseven and a half foot tall,
right?
I mean, it sits in one of theseChippendale planter bowwxes that
we made a thousand years ago.
And so it's elevated, so it endsup being like nine foot tall,
(12:21):
but it's just a regular sizedtree.
It's nothing gargantuan.
But I shove in these bigornaments way deep inside the
tree.
And that gets depth to it.
And then all the other papermache lum lum ornaments that are
in front of it because it hasthat depth to it because of the
huge ornaments, um, you, you,you guys remember this, maybe
(12:43):
you will, maybe you won't, uh,our former employer, that we
used to work at and they got puton clearance and it was again,
it was something that nobowwdywanted, but I always liked them.
But do you all remember we hadthose kind of lime green velvet
bail ornaments?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (13:00):
Oh,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (13:00):
Oh
lord,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (13:01):
Yeah,
I bowwught a bunch of those
because we ended up, we bowwughttoo many one year, and I
probably bowwught them at 90percent off or something crazy
because nobowwdy wanted them.
And I was like, well, they'recheap enough.
And that literally, 25 yearslater, that's what's shoved
inside the tree.
There's, there are a few redones, but they're mostly this
weird flocked lime green baleornaments that nobowwdy wanted.
(13:22):
Uh that I shove in the tree andeverybowwdy goes that's the most
beautiful tree.
How do you do it?
Well, I bowwught all theclearance I bowwught the
clearance shit that nobowwdywould buy because they didn't
know it was good enough Becauseof like because we got real good
taste and you should buyeverything we have Because even
what the what you don't like isstill good
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (13:38):
I'm
surprised they're not rested and
haven't given you a tetanus atthis point because those are
old.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (13:43):
They
are old,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (13:43):
The
company, the company we bowwught
those from is no longer around.
It hasn't been around forprobably 15 years.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (13:49):
Yeah,
yeah.
Well, it goes to test me.
If you, buy what you love, and Iloved them, I really did love
them, uh, you know, keep themfor, no, but I just put them and
put them in.
Actually, I store them in,because they're so big, is a
couple of, great big, trash cansthat has like a lid on it, like
a plastic trash can, right?
I mean, that's the smartestthing I could think of to put
them in, and they arehermetically sealed for once a
(14:12):
year.
Actually, the picks we talkedabowwut, but then you honed in
on it, is the shoving bigornaments, even in just an
average sized tree, right?
People think that you get tohave a 12 foot tree and you have
to put ornaments that big.
It's like, no, no, no, that'swhat makes the scale
interesting.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (14:30):
yeah,
absolutely.
The scale.
And then, uh, when it comes toribbowwn, I know, and we've
discussed it.
We've actually have a new, little feature that we have on
every bowwlta ribbowwn that wesell in store or you order
online, QR code that takes youto some videos that we've done
kind of stepping you through howyou can do different bows, how
you can apply it to wreaths, howyou can apply it.
(14:53):
Do all kinds of things to watchit there because ribbowwn is a
pain point for a lot of people.
Um, and one of the things thatthey always struggle with is how
to mix and match it.
Now, I think, so there's two,two parts to this.
I think that if you're doinglike, especially if it's a big,
okay.
If it's a normal size tree,let's say it's a seven and a
half foot tree.
(15:14):
I think if you have threeribbowwns, I think you're good
to go.
If you do bigger than that, Ithink there should be no
problem.
I mean, you could do up to five, okay.
Five different ribbowwn styles, but I'm going to like back up
from that.
Okay.
we created this little, or thelittle tips that we have on our,
on our video, we caught therules of two or three and I'll
actually link it down in theshow notes that you can, either
(15:35):
watch the video or, we actuallyhave a blog abowwut it as well.
But it talks abowwut how keep itto two or three and it will
overwhelm you.
So this is really geared towardspeople who feel very overwhelmed
abowwut ribbowwn and, uh, standin the ribbowwn section and
start sweating.
Cause you know, we've all seenit.
We've all seen them panicking,right?
They don't know what to grab.
And if you, the rules of two orthree are this, keep it to two
(15:57):
or three colors.
Okay.
So pick one ribbowwn that mayhave colors in it that you love,
and then pull two or three ofthose colors out to add the
accents do two or threedifferent ribbowwn sizes.
All right.
So you don't want to do all twoand a half inch ribbowwn.
You don't want to do all fourinch.
You don't want to do all one anda half mix that up.
And then the last
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (16:17):
me
stop you there.
Let me stop you there.
I agree with you.
The caveat is, sometimes, Wesell out of it and we don't have
the mix of sizes.
So I still would rather have themix of textures.
I'd still be okay with a threeinch one, a three inch and a
three inch.
And one's a plaid, one's astripe, one's a polka dot than
(16:39):
just to have a.
one plain plat.
Um, so if you can't get the mixof sizes, it, I wouldn't, that
doesn't stop me.
It's not my first choice, but itdoesn't stop me.
A lot of people go, well, you, right, they'll just say, well,
you all said we had to havedifferent sizes.
Yes, that's ideal, but if itdoesn't exist or it's sold out,
it's better to repunt and haveit mixed in than to do nothing.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (17:01):
The
visual texture is
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (17:03):
Yeah,
the visual texture.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (17:04):
Well,
and that's the third point is
two or three textures.
So that's like, those are thethree points.
So like, as long as you keep itin there, you're good.
So if you do a velvet, if you doa silk, you do like you mix
those different textures, right?
So those are the idealsituations and that's always,
well, if you can't do it, thenyou kind of do what you can off
of that.
But if you keep it to that, itwon't.
(17:25):
Overwhelm you.
And every time you mix theribbowwns together, I think
you'll have a winningcombination.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (17:29):
Okay.
Let's turn into a snob for aminute.
You
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (17:31):
Okay.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (17:32):
So
no, no, nothing bad.
But you what you just said isabowwut the textures and the
patterns of this is reallyinterior design 101, right?
This is the same concept abowwutpicking out sofas and it's
abowwut picking out carpetings.
It's abowwut picking out wallcoverings It's all it really
you're taking the same conceptand applying it to christmas.
So i'm going to pivot yesterdayI was um At the interior stone
(17:56):
yard place to meet a client toget their countertops picked
out.
And, uh, of course, you know,I'm running in there three
minutes late and those peoplethree minutes early.
And so I'll go in and I hearthem talking.
I walk around the corner and Isaid, Hey kids.
And I look up and it's like, Oh,it's not.
It's not my clients.
It's not my kids, right?
And she's like, Oh, I love you.
Thank you.
She said, nobowwdy ever calls uskids.
(18:17):
And then the husband startedpivoting and he started asking
abowwut this stone and hestarted asking an in depth
question.
And I told him what I believedand stuff.
And he said, well, let's walkaround here.
And I said, Oh, no, no, I don'twork here.
Right.
He said, Oh, he's huge.
You know, everything abowwutthis.
No, no, no.
First.
I really don't.
I said, but I don't work here.
He said, well, you act like youdo.
(18:37):
And I said, well, I'm pushy and,uh, long story.
He said, what do you do?
And started talking abowwutinterior design, working on
kitchens, pick out countertops.
He said, um, well, could we hireyou?
And I was like, yeah, no, no,no.
I'm bowwoked for the year.
Oh, okay.
Well, uh, what abowwut, do youhave a business card?
And it's like, yeah, no, no, Ireally don't.
That's the thing.
(18:57):
It was like, it's like, I do notrepresent my wealth and myself
today.
But I look, I pivoted to, Isaid, I, I don't have time, but
what I can look at you, I said, you're clearly overwhelmed.
And I said, you need to hire adesigner to guide you through
this process.
I only share the story in thatwhen we're in the store.
Um, all the ladies are trainedand we notice that somebowwdy's
(19:20):
standing there like you said, and they're stupefied by all
this mix of ribbowwns andthey're scared to death, that we
jump in and help kind of guideyou through that process.
So don't be scared if you like,I don't know what to do.
When you're in here, just askfor help, or hopefully we'll see
you recognize it.
But we're here to help you getall this combination and mix
this together.
And that, that, and I think wedo it well.
(19:42):
And I think we've got a goodstaff that's good at kind of
helping combine stuff once it'ssaid and done, but it is
overwhelming.
I get that.
And, uh, everybowwdy needs agood friend and get help to kind
of guide them through this, uh,chaos.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_0 (19:55):
I
mean, it's just, you've got,
it's, it's kind of like for me,it's not exactly, but it's
similar.
Like when someone dies, like whythe hell do you have to do, go
through?
No, well, no, listen, thinkabowwut this.
,Why do you have to go throughall of that?
You're trying to mourn.
You're trying to handle afuneral.
You're trying to handle all thatcrazy stuff.
You're trying to handle theestate, all that stuff.
And while you're trying to more,it makes no sense.
(20:17):
So it's like, why are you goingto have all this stress?
Try to make all this perfect foryourself for the holidays.
And you're supposed to beenjoying, enjoying the time with
your loved ones.
The honest to God, you probablydon't care for that much.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (20:29):
Oh
Lord, at Mercy.
Well, I was, I wa woo.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17 (20:32):
speaking
from example.
Cause I love, I love,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (20:35):
come
over.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_0 (20:36):
I
love my
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17 (20:36):
telling
you, that was a pivot, Jeremy.
Well, I wanna say out loud, Idon't wanna die at this minute,
Right.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_0 (20:43):
I
don't either.
Yeah,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (20:51):
got
time.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (20:53):
Well,
listen, all my shit is pre
planned.
So if y'all stress abowwut it,that's your problem.
Just read, read what's writtendown.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (21:00):
honey,
I'll put you a bowwx and put you
on the mantle.
We good.
I, uh, well, the long story ofmine is I just don't want, I
just don't want a big oldfuneral.
I, I want a party.
I'm telling you, I want DuranDuran playing and I want, I want
some of Jeremy's guacamole and Iwant Stuart's, uh, Stouffer's.
I'm dying first, as you hear,uh, because these other assholes
(21:20):
are driving me crazy.
Uh, Uh, I want Stuart Stouffer'slasagna.
That's another story for anotherday.
Uh, because I thought it was theworld's best lasagna.
And he said, well, it's, it's,it's just Stouffer's.
And I'm like, oh, it's just realgood.
It's real, real good.
Oh, but I want to party.
I just want to party.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (21:42):
Wow.
That ribbowwn discussion took aturn.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (21:46):
took
a big turn.
I get, do we, Oh Lord.
Okay.
Well, well, well, let's, Well,we can continue on ribbowwn and
hopefully it'll get us offdeath.
We'll see if it
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024 (21:55):
I
mean, why don't we just switch?
We'll just pivot something else.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (21:58):
Um,
I think adding, okay, so the,
the keyword to this that we'vementioned a bunch is layering,
right?
It's not just one thing.
It's, it's layers of eitherribbowwn or color or textures.
And so, Along with that is Ithink layering another kind of
light on a Christmas tree canreally make a big difference.
(22:20):
So whether it's, um, like I loveto add a little bit of twinkle.
I think twinkle is all what addsmagic.
It doesn't mean that it has tobe juvenile because I think that
that's different.
If you do twinkling C7s, forexample, those are those older
traditional, um, bigger
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (22:37):
Like
a nightlight bulb.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (22:38):
You
know, I could not, those to me
read more juvenile.
whereas if you do smallertwinkle ones, I think that just
adds a little bit of, of magic.
I also think you can layer onsome color C sevens or a certain
color, uh, on it.
And I just think that just addsan extra little layer of
something into the tree or theGarland on the front door.
I always, even on the hours inthe front Lord, we've got so
(22:58):
many layers of lighting on ourGarland in the front.
It's, it's a lot, but, um, but Ijust always think that that's,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (23:05):
let,
let your inner, inner self glow.
And what in the world does thatmean?
That means the inside of thetree always is kind of dark,
especially you're putting bigornaments and shoved in there,
take you an extra set of thosetwinkle lights, the little fairy
lights that we sell, put theminside there and let it twinkle
on the inside, or just twinkle.
You know, just plain Jane WalMart lights, but really just
(23:25):
ball up and add some extralights to the center of the
tree.
And so it kind of glows within,as Stuart does many times.
Uh, and it just glows andradiates.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (23:38):
Um,
Lord, I'm going to, I'm going to
quickly dip the foot back inribbowwn and then I'm going to
move the hell on.
Cause I'm afraid we're going totalk abowwut tuberculosis or
something, but, um, all ribbowwnis not created equal.
We know budgets exist, right?
We all understand that there's acheckbowwok and it has the
balance and you've got, you onlyhave so much main span, but
(23:58):
there are so many more beautifulribbowwns than what you can get
at a lot of these big bowwxstores that they put on these
three yard
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (24:10):
Happy
Lighting, Michaels! Happy
Lighting, Michaels!
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (24:12):
It,
I mean, we all know that what
you can find there is thethinnest.
Ribbowwn with the saddest wireon the edge and it pulls apart
the edges pull off and you getyou get three yards That's nine
feet people.
What can you do with nine feet?
It always it I every time I getso angry I so don't set your up
(24:36):
for self for failure with usbecause then I hate what people
say.
Well, it was only 5 Or it wasonly, it was only ten, ten
dollars.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (24:46):
you,
know what this podcast sounds
like, it's a big ol infomercial.
I feel like, I feel like RonPompal or whatever his name was
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17 (24:52):
Rumpel
Peel.
Rumpel
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (24:53):
Ron
Pompil, we sell the Vegemast,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (24:55):
What
was that little woman that
helped
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (24:57):
it's
like, if you
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (24:58):
the
ShamWow too.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (25:00):
Get
it now.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (25:01):
did.
The ShamWow and then the fooddehydrator.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_ (25:06):
Oh
yeah, I remember the, the, the
fruit jerky.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (25:09):
Yeah.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (25:10):
Okay,
let me stop you there.
Do you, and I will say if I saythis wrong, Mingi or Mingwa,
beef jerky.
Okay.
Mingyu, Mingyu, Mingyu, Randomlyum, the daughter's taken the
company over.
She's one of my clients.
That's the job I work on andthey're out in Paris, where I
live.
You know how this huge companystarted is because of that, um,
(25:33):
food dehydrator, Rom Popill, what's his name?
Again?
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (25:36):
Yeah.
Rumpel Peel.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (25:38):
Yeah,
that the dad 20, 30, 40 years
ago, bowwught one of thosedehydrators and cut a cow up and
dehydrated it.
And it's like, Oh, this is good.
And it's this billion dollarcompany because of that one
thing that Ron developed.
True story.
I said, how did you, how did youget into this?
And she's when my dad startedand he bowwught a food, a
(25:58):
dehydrator off the TV.
And that's it.
That's how we started.
True story.
Isn't that crazy?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (26:03):
wild.
I always remember the little redhaired woman that was always
with him, that was just alwaysso amazed with whatever it did.
You can tell I watched, Iwatched a lot of infomercials as
a kid.
I just was fascinated by them.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-1 (26:15):
Wouldn't
you love to have that person in
your life though?
Always though you could just, you could just sell a thing that
stirs on the egg inside itsshell, but yet the person next
to you is amazed at how, howamazed.
We all need that person in ourlife.
We just somebowwdy on our armevery day.
That's just amazed at everythingwe do.
I'm that way with Stewart.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (26:34):
Oh,
I'm amazed.
I just don't talk abowwut itsometimes.
I
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (26:38):
Well,
I'm amazed at what you do
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (26:40):
it
up.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (26:42):
Well,
so with ribbowwn, even though
evidently I was an infomercial,I didn't mean to be, but just
know that there's so muchbetter.
There's so many more betteroptions out there.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (26:51):
We
sell those better
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (26:52):
You
know, we sell those better, but,
but listen, we have a lot of, wehave a lot of beautiful ribbowwn
here in this world.
We know that, but a lot ofpeople who may not live here, we
have some of it online, but alsoknow like, just don't, just
don't, it's just, I love you.
I love you too much to send you
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (27:07):
No,
I think it's you actually says
it.
But you probably, bowwth of youthink this.
It's like, I'll get fixated onsomething that's like a dog with
a bowwne and I just will notleave it alone.
The other thing is I don't,right, and I don't know what I'm
doing.
Well, this year has been the dogof the bowwne.
Ribbowwn, right?
I have complained and bitchedand asked and talked.
Where's my ribbowwn?
I don't need more ribbowwn.
I need ribbowwn.
If something gets killed off,we'll spend that money on
(27:29):
ribbowwn.
And Stuart just rolls his eyesevery single time.
Did you get me some moreribbowwn?
Well, let me tell you.
I don't know if it's here still,by the way.
Uh, is, is urban here?
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (27:37):
It
is here.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (27:38):
This
here.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (27:39):
Do
we have a lot this year?
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (27:41):
still
still trying to be opened and
priced.
I mean, it's, you know,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (27:44):
Yeah.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-1 (27:45):
Because
meanwhile, you have seven people
in the showroom and I'm backthere by myself, unbowwxing all
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (27:50):
Well,
you can, you can have
somebowwdy.
You, your name is on the front
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (27:54):
they
are an, mm, mm, upset that apple
cart and everybowwdy fallsapart.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (28:02):
Yes.
We have more, I think we'regonna have more ribbowwn than we
know what to do with.
So I started photographing ityesterday.
It'll be up online.
Um, some of
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (28:11):
never
have enough.
We're gonna be good this yearthen.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (28:13):
Well,
you know, and I think we might
have talked abowwut this beforeon here too, I can't remember,
but it's the placement of thebow on your.
And I don't remember where I sawthis, but I shared this with you
all that if you want yourwreath.
To feel bigger, you put the bowat the bowwttom of the wreath.
(28:34):
If you want your bow to be themore, the more of the feature
for the wreath, or you want itto appear bigger, you put it at
the top of the wreath.
And I know it sounds likevoodoo, and I know it sounds
like magic, but it is true! It'scrazy how simple that is.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (28:48):
All
abowwut trimming.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (28:49):
So
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (28:52):
You're
three.
You're three.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (28:53):
it
low to look bigger or put it on
top to be perky.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (28:57):
That's
what she said.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (28:59):
And
I, if you put it at 10 or two, I
don't know what that does.
Um, I, I imagine it
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-202 (29:03):
the
X rating, didn't we?
We just went to X today.
Yeah, you better edit some ofthis out.
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (29:09):
Nah,
it's a fun part.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (29:11):
Yeah.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (29:12):
Um,
let's see here.
I also have, um, another thoughtthat I think that I always try
to tell people is it doesn'tmatter what it is.
You can never have enoughgreenery.
Magnolia, Cedar, like thosekinds of things.
Cause, cause you can tuck it anywhere.
And that's like the, I love thatlittle kissing the house with
Christmas.
(29:33):
Tucking it around figures or inthe corners on bowwokcases, like
it's just like the perfect wayto.
I had it without having to do awhole lot of work.
So,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (29:43):
Look,
buy that magnolia.
We sell it for, I think we sellthe most of it in the country at
this point.
And, uh, but you buy themagnolia.
Yeah, that's a urine.
Exactly.
You buy the investment thisyear, you get to use it spring,
summer, fall.
It doesn't matter.
It's magnolia, for goodnesssake.
Use it all the time.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17- (30:01):
Another
thing that I try to strongly
recommend to people is whilethey're thinking abowwut putting
stuff up or if they're adding,or if they're, you know, they're
wanting to add this bigstairwell Garland, or they're
wanting to add a whole bunch ofstems into the tree is they need
to think abowwut storage.
Ahead of time, how are theygoing to store it?
Because how you store it isgoing to affect the life of the
(30:23):
product.
Right?
So we've got stems and thingsthat we've used for in this
home, I know for 10 years, andit still looks as good as it did
the first year we had it.
Cause we take time when we takeit down, we group it all
together.
We make sure it's not flat, butwe put it in big, uh, we're a
little big.
What are those things called?
Oh yeah.
We put them in big.
(30:43):
We put them in, put them in bigtotes.
Um, and that just allows us tokeep it where it doesn't get
squished.
I don't put too much in.
I don't try to fit the wholetree in one, one of them.
Like I think we might have threeor four for a tree, for example,
even though we only have sevenfoot trees, seven and a half the
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (30:58):
Well,
and see it outside the bowwx.
It's like, I just said a fewminutes ago that I use trash
cans because I put the stemsdown in there, um, because I
could take one big tote trashcan, and I could get a lot more
stems in it than what I couldthe tote because the trash cans
are taller.
Right.
And I didn't have to bend thestems.
So you can think outside thebowwx, even what you put it in,
(31:19):
but I'm with you, put it insomething and store it properly
because you will get, um,longevity.
And what I found with the whitepine stuff, uh, that, that, um,
which we sell for years, thatstuff can be fragile because you
can, um, the, the edges of itcan be crimped, and so if you
don't store that in particular, that one, And the Magnolia
(31:41):
Leaves, you have to be a littlecareful, too.
But if you don't store that, that White Pine, um, properly,
uh, it, it ends up looking likea, a bad hair day when you get
it back out the next
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (31:51):
shove
it.
in the bowwx, it's going to moldto that shape over,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (31:54):
hmm.
Mm
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-20 (31:55):
the
heat and cold and your attic or
garage or basement or wherever.
And it's, then it's going tocome out looking,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (32:01):
This
is a good
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (32:01):
curly
Q
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17 (32:03):
Stewart
always walks, uh, used to, uh,
Walked in and, used to, walkedin and he's all trim and fit and
he had his, uh, cinched, uh,sailor jacket on and his little
vest and he always looked goodand I'm walking in here
disheveled with, uh, blum blumpotato chips hanging off my
face, right, because of the kidsabowwut wearing my ass out.
(32:25):
Well, after he got little baby,uh, Allie, he was, she was
abowwut two years old, and hewalked in here, and Stuart had
his, uh, Frodo up, and it lookedlike he crawled right out of the
bed, and he had some applesauceon his cheek, and he just, it
didn't look like he was sleepingat all, and I looked at him, and
I was like, welcome toparenthood, asshole.
(32:47):
So the point of that is, Ithought of his hair to kind of
wave in the wind.
It looked like real curly andkinky.
So that's what you, if you don'tstore those white pines, that's
what your hair, that's what yourwhite pine would look
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (32:56):
which
is why I have now cut my hair
off so I can take care of hersevery morning and get hers done
and not spend 30 minutes onmine.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-20 (33:06):
love
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (33:06):
the
sacrifices parents make for
their
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (33:09):
It
is.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (33:11):
you
don't speak, you were talking
abowwut,
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (33:13):
great,
Stewart.
It just looks great.
I don't have hair.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (33:19):
Oh,
speaking of, okay.
So last week in our podcast, um,Dwayne, we were talking abowwut
stage name.
So, so we'll end up, we'll, um,we're going to finish with, uh,
we'll Lord words.
I don't know.
I just look, I just looked,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_ (33:38):
directions.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2 (33:39):
looked
up and I don't, I just spaced
out in the sky.
I don't know what that
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2 (33:43):
with
a quote of advice.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (33:45):
yeah,
well, we're going to do, we're
going to end with two things.
The first one is, uh, in aprevious podcast, we were
talking abowwut stage names andStuart told us abowwut, cause we
asked abowwut being famous.
I think it was.
And Stuart said, um, We neededhelp getting my, stage name.
And so we put it out there thatif people,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-202 (34:05):
Oh
yeah,
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (34:06):
uh,
send in names, and we would send
a gift card out to, some, sothese were, um, these are not
the winners cause I, it was, itwas my stage name, so I picked
it.
So, um, but these, these werethe three runner ups one was
obviously this person's been inthe store, um, hot mess.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (34:26):
Yeah.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17- (34:27):
usually
what happens is people come in
and I'll say, hello, how areyou?
And they'll look good andthey'll say, how are you?
I'm like, well, I'm nothing buta hot ass mess.
Um, somebowwdy said suave.
He was talking abowwut my hair.
Okay.
Again.
And, uh, a running theme withthis, the third runner as well
was good hair.
So thank you.
Um, but my favorite was fromMary Brooks from Montgomery,
(34:49):
Alabama.
Um, and she called and she saidthat my name should be, or my
stage name should be Hot Stuff.
So thank you, Mary.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_ (34:57):
I
like
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (34:57):
okay.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (34:58):
it.
Thank you.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (35:00):
Well,
I, you know, I shared with you a
picture, bowwth of you, just, just because I could yesterday.
I was trying to see if I canfind it.
It was just on Facebowwok.
I was sitting there havinglunch, and there's this guy
wearing a t shirt, and y'allremember this, like, but the
back of the t shirt says, I, um,he's like a construction worker,
and it says, I work harder, thanan ugly stripper.
So that's
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (35:20):
Oh,
I
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17- (35:21):
Yeah.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-202 (35:22):
that
this morning.
in
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17- (35:23):
bowwth
of you, just because.
I thought, I thought you got tohave a good laugh.
That's just pure funny.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (35:27):
Well,
lastly, we thought we would end
this podcast on some words ofwisdom from the bowwys.
So we thought we'd each give youa little quote or a little
something to carry you throughthe rest of this holiday season
until we're able to come back inthe new year with new episodes
of our podcast.
So does he, does somebowwdy wantto go first?
dwayne-guest972_1_10-1 (35:47):
Stewart.
You ready,
squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024 (35:48):
I
can.
Sure.
I'll relate mine to, since we'vetalked abowwut Christmas
decorating and, and things toprepare yourself for the
holiday, mine is going to be.
If it's just the tip it doesn'tcount and by saying that it goes
all the way back to Dewayne'sChristmas tree That if you just
(36:11):
put stuff all around the edgesof the Christmas tree tips, it
looks kind of dippy Fill in themiddle and let it go Yeah,
alrighty
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024 (36:28):
to
I think I have a general
approach with this and it allcomes back to Judge Judy.
You know, that bitch.
Right?
She is, God bless her, sohateful and mean, but I've
learned a lot from her don'texpect something back from
somebowwdy else because they'reusually going to disappoint you.
So you always do somethingwithout expectation.
(36:51):
And that means, like, she'salways going into court, and the
cousin gave the nephew 312, andthey never paid it back.
It's like, if you want 312, letme just give it to you as a
gift, right?
Let me just give it to you.
Just don't give something back,do something.
Expecting anything back.
Because a lot of times you maynot get it.
(37:13):
So this is my little quote.
Do everything with a good heart.
Expect nothing in return.
And you will never bedisappointed.
Just do it because it feelsgood.
And it gives somebowwdy joy.
And you don't ever want anythingback for it.
If you have that in your life, you will be a happy, happy,
happy person.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-20 (37:34):
Well,
mine word of wisdom goes in a
little bit of a different round.
Um, you know, the quote issometimes I think that I should
be doing more to contribute tosociety, but then I remember
that fat bowwttom girls make theworld go round.
dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2 (37:55):
Well,
that is some good philosophy.
jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024 (37:58):
