Hi This is Brad Weisman - Click Here to Send Me a Text Message

What if everything you've been taught about positive thinking is only half right? Dr. Noah St. John, known worldwide as "the father of afformations," is revolutionizing the way we approach mindset transformation with a simple yet profound discovery: the power of asking empowering questions.

During this insightful conversation, Dr. St. John reveals why traditional affirmations leave 75% of users more frustrated than before—and introduces his groundbreaking alternative that works with your brain's natural functioning rather than against it. Rather than repeating statements you don't believe, "affOrmations" harness the brain's automatic response to questions, creating powerful shifts in your subconscious programming without resistance.

Drawing from his personal journey from poverty to becoming a highly sought-after coach, Dr. St. John shares how this technique forms the foundation of his wider "Power Habit System"—a comprehensive approach used by his clients to achieve remarkable breakthroughs. Through compelling case studies, he demonstrates how addressing the hidden "head trash" and "success anorexia" that lurk in our subconscious can lead to extraordinary results, including one client who grew their business from 7 figures to $20 million in just 18 months.

Beyond theory, Dr. St. John provides actionable insights into recognizing and overcoming the invisible barriers that keep us stuck at the same level year after year. His approach isn't about working harder—it's about removing the internal obstacles that prevent you from achieving what you're truly capable of. Whether you're a business owner hitting an income ceiling, a real estate professional seeking breakthrough results, or simply someone looking to reach your full potential, these powerful yet simple techniques offer a path to the success you've been searching for.

His name is Dr Noah St John.

He's known as the father ofaffirmations, not affirmations,

(00:50):
affirmations, and we're going toget into that.
He's the mental health coach tothe stars.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I'm so happy to be here.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Great to be here, brad.
Yeah, yeah, awesome.
I'm glad you're here too.
So wait a minute.
I didn't even ask you thedoctor.
What's the doctor for?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I have a PhD in pastoral counseling psychology.
So at one point in my life Ithought I might become a pastor
or priest, but God kind of putme in a different direction and
now I'm an author and a speakerand a consultant, and just you
know, and having fun.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Oh, that's great, that's really cool.
Well, good for you.
So well, yeah, let's jump rightin here.
I was reading over your stuffand this is the part that was
just funny.
I'm looking at your stuff afterwe had finally got the date
together, right, and we're.
I'm looking over and it saysaffirmations, affirmations.
I'm seeing affirmations acouple of times and now I
realize when I go to type itinto or put it into my Word file
, it's saying it's spelled wrongand I'm like no, it's not, I

(01:52):
got it right from his site.
It can't be spelled wrong.
Right, turning out that youraffirmations is different than
affirmations, we got to just diginto that right away.
Let's talk about that.
What's the difference or whatare you calling out as being
different with that?

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Okay.
So for everyone listening tothis program, I want people to
realize I'm using a new wordhere.
All right, so I'm holding up mybook.
It's called the Book ofAfformations and you're right,
it's spelledA-F-F-O-R-M-A-T-I-O-N-S.
This is my book of affirmations, published by Hay House.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Awesome so affirmations.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
What the heck is that and how are they different from
affirmations?
Okay, so, as a keynote speakerand as a coach, one of the
things I get to do is I get todo speaking for teams,
organizations and companies allacross the country and really
around the world, whether it'slive or virtual.
And one of the things I like todo with my audience members and
of course I'll do it with youknow, the audiences here is I

(02:48):
like to say OK, everybody, everybody knows an affirmation
is right.
And they go yeah, all right.
So an affirmation, of course,is a statement of something that
you want to be true, right.
And I say well, how do you knowwhat an affirmation is?
Well, you know, I've read it amillion times right, every
motivational speaker on planetEarth talks about affirmations.
You got to say these positivestatements and say it in the
positive.
You know we've heard this amillion times, and so I said

(03:10):
okay.
So I said all right, everybody,I want you to do this for me.
We're going to play a littlegame.
I want you to say anaffirmation, just like you know,
the motivational speakerstaught us, and everybody say I
am rich, and everybody goes I amrich.
You know what happens next?
Everyone starts laughing and Igo what are you laughing at?
And they go well, I'm not rich.
And I say but you just said youwere.

(03:30):
And they go yeah, but I don'tbelieve it.
Aha, now isn't that the problem?
Right, that's the problem withthe old method, with the
traditional affirmations that wesay these statements and we
want to believe them, but mostof the time we actually don't
believe them.
In fact, did you know that ascientific study was actually
done on this very topic and theyfound, after studying this,

(03:55):
that three quarters of thepeople, literally 75% of the
people that use the oldaffirmations method, actually
end up more frustrated thanbefore.
So imagine if you had asmartphone that didn't work
three out of the four times youwent to use it.
You'd probably get a new phone,wouldn't you?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah, absolutely, and that's what.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I invented.
I invented a new phone for yourbrain.
Okay, so what is an affirmation?
Well, this is something that Idiscovered 30 years ago, and it
was actually in the shower, believe it or not.
So I actually call it theshower that changed everything
In my books and in my courses.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I call it the shower.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
That changed everything.
I'm sure everybody listening tothis program has had that
moment in the shower or the bath.
Right, I mean, it's that eurekamoment.
Right, I mean, this goes backto the ancient Greeks, so it's
an ancient tradition.
And so this was in April 1997.
And I'd been reading everyself-help book out there, I mean
literally for years and yearsand years reading every
self-help book.
And they all said the samething right, use the affirmation

(04:45):
, say it.
So.
I had, you know, I had post-itnotes all over my walls.
You know, I'm happy, I'm rich,I'm successful.
Meanwhile, the reality was, no,I'm not, I'm broke, unhappy and
miserable.
And so I said, well, what theheck is wrong here, what is
wrong with this picture, andwhat aren't they telling us,
what are they leaving out?
And so I was thinking aboutthis.
I was in the shower and I said, okay, what are we doing here?

(05:07):
We're, we're, we're talkingabout beliefs.
What's a belief?
And I realized belief is just athought.
And then I said, well, what ishuman thought?
And I realized that humanthought is the process of asking
and searching for answers toquestions, not statements, but
questions.
In fact, I can prove it to youright now why is the sky blue?
Why is the sky blue?
Because the ocean.

(05:28):
Do you know what just happenedin your brain in that moment?
No, well, I'll tell you exactlywhat happened.
I asked you a question andinstantly in your brain, your
brain started to search for theanswer.
I said why is the sky blue?
And your brain instantly said Idon't said why is the sky blue?
And your brain instantly said Idon't know why is the sky blue?
And so it's like a computersearching its files and you're

(05:51):
searching your files.
The sky is blue because I don'tknow, but it's searching.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
And so I said, wait a second.
If the human brain isautomatically searching for
answers to questions, why are wegoing around making statements
we don't believe?
Why don't we just cut out themiddleman?
And I said, what would thatlook like?
And I said, well, let's see, you've got the statement or
affirmation I am rich, to whichyour brain goes you're right,

(06:19):
Right, I mean, that's what itdoes, it really does.
I call it the yeah rightresponse, Because we don't
believe it.
And so I said now, remember.
The motivational speaker saidjust repeat it a thousand,
million, billion, kajilliontimes until you believe it
someday.
Well, for some people thatworks, but for most of us that
doesn't work at all, and we endup more frustrated than before.
So I said well, if that's thestatement, what would the
question be?

(06:39):
And then I said why am I sorich?
Why am I so rich?
Why am I so rich?
Now, when you form a questionlike that in your brain, what
instantly happens?
You start to search for theanswer.
So I realized wait a minute, what if, instead of saying
statements we don't believe, whydon't we just cut out the
middleman and go right to thequestion?
And that's when I realized Iwas literally in the shower and

(07:01):
I said holy cow, I think I justinvented something.
And so I had to give it a name, this new method that I
discovered, and I call it theaffirmations method.
Again, it'sA-F-F-O-R-M-A-T-I-O-N-S.
And you go to affirmationscomand learn more about my
affirmations method.
And so really now, because I'vebeen teaching this for 30 years

(07:22):
now, I've written 25 books onthe subject and you know, of
course, I have coaching andcourses on it as well.
I mean now my affirmationsmethod has helped people to make
more money, to lose weight, tofind love, to quit smoking, to
overcome addiction.
I mean I had a couple inGermany and they wrote me and
they said we were about to get adivorce.

(07:42):
We had the divorce papers onthe table ready to be signed.
We heard about youraffirmations method, we got your
affirmations book and youraffirmations course, we started
studying your method, we tore upthe divorce papers and now
we're madly in love again.
I mean just incredible storieslike that.
So it's it's really lifechanging and it's incredibly

(08:04):
powerful and very simple.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Wow, that's amazing.
Yeah, it's, it's, it's adifferent way of looking at
things.
And you're right, there'saffirmations and they all and
believe me, I've done a lot ofthem different things.
When you stand up and all right, and everybody's going to say
this and everybody's going to dothis, and yeah, it kind of just
get leaves you frustratedbecause it's, it's really,
you're lying to yourself too, because you're not rich.

(08:26):
You're not rich.
You're lying to yourself.
And if you're lying to yourself, and then what does that do you
know?
But that's really cool thankyou.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And what, what, really what?
And just to jump off your pointthere, brad, yeah, what happens
is and this is what I've beenteaching for many years now is
that, with the old method, ifyou think about this, imagine
you were trying to build a house, right?
And you, and you need what doyou need to build a house?
We need different tools, right?
So you go to the tools, tools.
So I say you go to home Depotand you say, hey, you know what?
I'm building a house, I needsome tools.

(08:54):
And I say, yeah, well, um, we'vegot chainsaws over here, and,
um, that's all we have.
And you're like, what do youmean?
That's all you have?
Yeah, well, we've got, we'vegot chainsaws, and and that's it
.
I'm like, well, but I, I needmore than a chainsaw to build a
house.
Well, you got green chainsaws,we got red chainsaws, we got
yellow, green chainsaws, youknow, just take whatever
chainsaw you want.
And so what does that mean?

(09:14):
What I mean by that is we wereonly taught one method to change
our beliefs yeah, statements, right, or affirmations.
We were taught that, that's it,that that's all you get.
And that's what reallyfrustrated me and frankly it's
frustrated.
You know millions of people, but see, I was the first one to,
number one, identify it.
Number two give, frankly, abetter, more powerful and more
effective method, which is thepower of questions, which,

(09:37):
ironically, you're already doinganyway.
This is one of the things thatI'm very passionate about.
Teaching is that every humanbeing on this planet is already
using my affirmations methodanyway.
There's only two problems.
Number one is they don't knowthey're doing it.
And number two, most people areasking really lousy questions
like why am I so stupid?
Why can't I do anything right?

(09:57):
Why isn't my business growing?

Speaker 1 (09:59):
So what does the brain do then?
Does the brain try to answerthat question then?

Speaker 2 (10:03):
It has to.
There's no other way.
Now notice people aren't doingthis on purpose.
Nobody is doing this consciously, right, right, I got you.
Yeah, I mean, it can besometimes like you know you, you
know you do something andyou're like, oh, why am I so
dumb, why can't I do anything?
Right, yeah, so you mightactually say it out loud, but

(10:25):
more more often it's in thesubconscious mind.
Yeah, all right, so it reallygoes back to the iceberg
principle of human behavior.
Only about 5% of our thoughts, behaviors and actions are
visible above the surface.
That's the conscious mind, right Like the iceberg.
Well, the vast 95% is below thesurface of consciousness, in
the subconscious, and, as Ialways tell my coaching clients
and my audience members, itwasn't the part of the iceberg
that they could see that sunkthe Titanic.

(10:47):
It's the part that they didn'tsee that sunk the Titanic.
And that's what's sinking mostof us as well.
So what we do with myaffirmations method and my power
habit system and, by the way,my affirmations method is just
the first of my habit, of mypower habit system, so it's the
foundational habit, but there's11 total habits that we actually
have to master, really, youknow, in order to have that

(11:10):
automatic success, as I call it.
So what we're doing is we'rebringing, using my power habit
system and affirmations, we'rebringing it to the surface, and
then we can make a consciouschoice, and then we don't have
to keep holding ourselves backanymore.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Amazing.
Yeah, it's, it's.
It's an interesting way oflooking at it and just when we
wait, to kind of peel back theonion there a little bit.
The other thing so is that partof when you say 12, you can
make more in 12 weeks than youmade in the past 12 months Is
that part of that also?
I mean, is that being used inwith that?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Oh, absolutely.
So that really comes back towhat I call my power habit
system.
So when I discoveredaffirmations in 1997, you know,
30 years ago now I realized, wow, this is incredibly powerful
and can really change people'slives.
They're teaching aboutmanifestation and visualization,

(12:01):
and you know, just think aboutmoney, and money pours in from
the sky and I'm like, really, where's that happening?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
What planet is that on?
Because it's a different sky.
It's in Pennsylvania, not inOhio, Just so you know I'll be
there tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
It's like great, you know, because on planet Earth we
have to do this annoying thingcalled take action Right, right,
exactly, to actually have aresult.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
It's like you know I'll think about having six pack
abs and meanwhile I'll sit onthe couch and eat junk food
Sounds great, you know, it'slike, I'm in, I'm in, I'm in, I
know Right, see, that's whatwe've been sold, because that's
what we all want to believe.
Right, we all want to believe.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, I don't have to do anything.
Yeah, not so much, you know.
So I'm one of these annoyingguys that says reality check,
sorry, doesn't work that way.
Gosh, darn it.
No, it's good we live on planetEarth, and anyway.
So my point is, I realized thatI had to have, frankly, a system
, and I ended up calling it thepower habit system, and the full
name of it is the power habitsof unconsciously successful

(12:53):
people.
Now, that's a mouthful, butreally all it means is I
realized that highly successfulpeople are doing these
unconscious habits.
They're doing these habits andthey don't even know they're
doing them.
Number one and number two thatmeans they can't teach it.
So that's why we have lots, there's lots and lots of habits
training out there, but theproblem is it's all on a
conscious level, like I was justtalking about, right.
So, hey, you know, uh, workharder and set your goals and

(13:16):
think positive.
Okay, that's not wrong, but ifthat's all it was to succeed,
we'd all be millionaires, right.
So that's, there's way way moreto it than that, but they don't
want to tell us.
So that's what I do, is I bringthis up and I go guys, there's
things that are going on beneaththe surface that they're not
telling us.
And that's what I have to do,and you know, quite frankly,

(13:40):
that's why I've give you tons ofstories and examples of that.
But the point is that that'swhat these power habits really
do.
They bring to the surfaceeverything that's holding the
person back from really reachingthe level of success they're
capable.
Let me just give you a quick, quick example.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah, I was going to say can you give us one of those
, an example?
That'd be great.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Absolutely so.
I was speaking at a seminar inLos Angeles to a thousand
business owners these are, youknow, entrepreneurs, business
owners, seven and eight figureCEOs, you know, and business
owners, you know, really, reallysuccessful audience, you know.
And so I was speaking.
I talked for about 30 minuteson everything we're talking
about right now, and I was.
I was walking off the stage anda man came up to me out of the

(14:18):
audience and he said Noah, youare the coach that I've been
looking for.
I want to hire you as my coach.
Now.
I didn't know this man fromAdam.
Ironically, his name was Adam.
True story.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
You can see his video right on my website, but anyway
, I said okay, well, what'sgoing on?

Speaker 2 (14:34):
He goes Noah, you know I own this company and we
got to seven figures really fast.
But we have been stuck at sevenfigures for the past four years
.
We haven't grown, you know,we're just stuck here.
And he said I have hired allthese marketing guys, I've hired
every guru out there.
He named all the names.
I spent tons of money, but wejust can't break through that
income ceiling.

(14:54):
And he said as soon as I heardyou speak about affirmations and
power habits and head trash andeverything you just talked
about, he said I knew that youwere the coach I've been looking
for, so he literally hired meon the spot.
That's why I love working withhigh achievers right, they make
decisions quickly and firmly,Didn't dilly dally, didn't waste
any time.
So I coached him for 18 monthsand in that 18 months we were

(15:15):
able to get his company that hadbeen stuck at the same level
for the previous four years, toover 20 million in revenues.
20 million.
That's a 600% increase in lessthan 18 months.
That's what we like to callhockey stick growth, right,
cause you know you go along likethis and you get a hockey stick
.
So that's an example of thepower of these power habits.

(15:36):
And the point is that he hadalready spent just like most of
my clients spend tons of moneyon all this other stuff, and I'm
not saying that it doesn't work, but it only gets you to a
certain point and then you justreally can't break through, no
matter how much you hustle andgrind and do all that other
stuff.
And so it was clearing out allof this head trash and then, you
know, using my power habitsystem, that's what gave him

(15:58):
that hockey stick growth.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Amazing, that's cool.
That's cool.
Let's go into this.
You said head trash a couple oftimes now and I just have on my
paper here head trash questionmark.
Yeah, so what?
What?
Give me an idea of what headtrash is like.
What is, what is that?

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Yeah, well, like I said, this is what I've written
25 books on 18 languages and youknow, teach, uh, you know, and
speak and do courses on andcoaching and so forth.
So really, for everyonelistening to this program, it
really comes down to what it isthat you want right.
What do you want?
Now, everybody out there talksabout goals right, we've heard
that a million times.
You gotta set your goals, setyour goals.
We've heard that a milliontimes.

(16:33):
Okay, but what's so funny iswhat they don't talk about.
And what they don't talk aboutis what happens after you set
your goals Right.
So we humans are goal orientedorganisms.
We are always, constantlythinking about what it is that
we want Right, whether it's anew car, a new house, a new job,
you know, or a ham sandwich forlunch, I mean, we're always

(16:55):
thinking about what do we want.
And so that is you know yourgoals Right.
So they could be big goals, itcould be small, medium, whatever

(17:20):
, all right.
So that's fine, and, yes, thetruth is, yeah, you have to set
your goals, but what happensafter you set the goal and this
is what people don't realize isthat what happens after you set
the goal.
For most people, right afterthey set their goal, they go.
I don't think I can do it, youknow.
So, like what, what's a commongoal that people have in
business?
Well, of course, I want to makemore money, right, everybody
says that, right, well, you know.
So I have people who come to meor, whether my seminars or you
know, contact me on social mediaor whatever, and they'll say
hey, noah, you know, I want tomake more money.
Okay, here's five bucks Go away, you know no, you got to get a
lot more clear than that.

(17:41):
Right, what, what really?
What does that mean?
Because more money to you mightmean something totally
different to the next person youknow.
And so that's the point.
If I, as an example, if I saidto you, hey, you know, I could
show you how to make a milliondollars in the next 12 months,
would you be interested?
Sure, most people go yeah.
But if I said that to you know, richard Branson, hey, richard,

(18:03):
I'll show you how to make amillion dollars the next 12
months.
He'd go get the heck out ofhere.
I can make a million dollarsthe next five minutes.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Yeah, exactly you see what I mean.
It's all relative.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Okay, you see what I mean.
So, anyway.
So it's very important that youget clear.
But, like I said, what happensafter you set the goal?
Most people, they say I can'tdo it.
So let's take the example ofmore money.
Right, oh, I want to make moremoney in my business.
Ah, but I can't do it.
Oh, you know, I don't have thetime, I don't have the money, I
can't afford it.
I don't know who to talk to, Idon't know who I can trust.
Oh, I've tried it before.

(18:33):
Oh, you know, I've failed inthe past.
I literally just psyched myselfout of that goal that I just
said I wanted Yep, right, and sothat's the point.
That's what people are doing.
But remember this is all in thesubconscious.
People don't do thisconsciously.
Nobody wakes up in the morningand says, wow, you know, it
looks like a beautiful day.
You know what I think?

Speaker 1 (18:55):
I'll hold myself back from success today, right, no
one's ever said that.
No, no, I'm being conscious, but that's never happened.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
But it doesn't matter because, see, we're sowing
seeds in the fertile soil of oursubconscious mind.
The subconscious mind is wherewe're sowing these seeds of
thought.
Right, and so that's really thepoint here is, we're sowing
seeds.
For most people, they're reallysowing lousy thought seeds.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
So how do they not have those?
How do they not put those inthere?
If it's in their subconscious, how do you get it out of there?

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Well, you have to use my power habits.
I don't know any other way todo it.
I really don't.
And, believe me, I tried.
I tried everything.
And the truth is I wrote allthese books for me.
I read every book out there andthey didn't.
They didn't do anything.
And I was.
I was so frustrated.
I was reading these books foryears and years and years
because, see, I grew up poor ina rich neighborhood and I know
that's a total cliche, but it'strue.

(19:44):
I grew up in this little towncalled Kennebunkport, maine,
which is one of the wealthiestcommunities in New England, in
fact, one of the wealthiestcommunities in the entire
country.
And but, see, my family wasdirt poor, and I mean that
literally, because we lived atthe bottom of a dirt road in a
drafty, unfinished house that myparents ended up losing to
foreclosure when I was just 15.
So from a very young age, I waspainfully exposed to the gap,

(20:07):
the chasm between the haves andthe have-nots.
The haves was everyone else inthe community, the have-nots was
my family.
So I hated being poor.
I just I hated it because I sawthat when you're poor, when you
have no money, that means youdon't have choices, you don't
have options, you don't havepower.
And I don't mean power overothers, I mean the power to make
your own decisions, the powerto live your own life.

(20:27):
You know, the power to makeyour choices and say this is how
I want to live and what I wantto do with my life.
We didn't have that, and so Isaid I hate that.
That really makes me very angry.
You know, even as a kid, I waslike I don't like this and so,
you know, I did the only thing Icould think of to do.
Of course, there was nointernet back then or anything
like we have today, so I justwent to the library and read
every self-help book there is.

(20:48):
I just went to the self-helpsection, read every book in the
self-help section, and they allsaid the same thing.
You know, which I've alreadybeen talking about.
You know, set your goals anduse affirmations.
They all said the same thing.
And so when I, you know, beenusing these or, you know,
reading these books andeverything for years, but I
wasn't successful and I was sofrustrated, in fact, at the age

(21:09):
of 25, I was in Los Angeles.
I was, you know, I had a deadend job and, you know, my
girlfriend had just left me.
It was like a country song, youknow.
But that's really true.
And you know, I made thedecision at that time to to take
my own life.
I made the decision to, youknow, commit suicide at age 25.
And you know, and that wasafter years and years and years
of reading all these self-helpbooks.
So what does that tell you?

(21:29):
There was clearly somethingmissing there, you know.
And now it's something, youknow, really saved my life at
the very, very last moment.
My life was spared and but Ididn't know why at the time, and
I said I've got to find mypurpose here on the earth.
What am I doing here?
Why am I here?
And so then I started readingspiritual books, you know about
to find your purpose in life.

(21:49):
And then that was when, in 1997, I discovered affirmations and
then, you know, started writingall these books.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
And now, you know, here we are, 30 years later how
old were you back then when youstarted doing the affirmations?

Speaker 2 (22:00):
well, I mean.
I mean I started when I was akid, I mean.
I started and and I've saidthis story before and many
people don't believe me In fact, this was, this was in my first
book and my editor told me totake it out because people won't
believe me.
I'm like ask my mother.
This is a true story.
So I actually read DaleCarnegie's how to win friends
and influence people when I wasseven years old.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Oh my gosh Like I said, people don't believe that
years old oh my gosh Like.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I said people don't believe that, but too bad,
that's my mother.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Anyway, you're doomed to be a top thinker.
That's some good stuff there.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Human behavior and human psychology.
Oh my goodness, that was thefrustrating thing, brad, was
they all said the same thing andit was all at the surface level
.
That's what bothered me and,frankly, that's why I couldn't
really get the help that Ineeded.
So can I just tell you anotherquick story.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Sure Go ahead.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Another one of my clients named Tamisa.
She's a real estateprofessional out in Arizona and
she is a self-described seminarjunkie.
That's what she called herselfback then and meaning she was
going all these seminars.
I'm sure a lot of people canrelate.
You know the seminars, all ofher, you know reading all these
books and you know kind of likeme.
Yeah, that's exactly what I wasdoing back then.
And so a friend of hersreferred her to me and she

(23:08):
actually joined my coachingprogram, which is called the 12
week breakthrough.
It's a 12 week program where Ihelp people make more in 12
weeks than they did in the.
As it turns out, you know, shetripled her investment in the
first two weeks of coaching withme.
Two weeks and she tripled herinvestment.
We hadn't even gotten to themoney part yet.
I mean, that's how powerfulthese power habits really can be

(23:31):
Wow, it's amazing, yeah, that's, that's cool.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
And are you going to get?
Are you going to give us one ofthese habits or no?
Are you just going to kind oftease us with them?
I've talked about affirmations.
That's one of them.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Okay, like I mentioned.
Okay, so affirmations, you knowwhich I've talked about
extensively.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, affirmations are the
foundational power habit.
Gotcha, gotcha and quitefrankly, that's the number one
way that people find out aboutme.
People come into the Noahverseusually with affirmations
because, let's face it, numberone it's incredible you have
these great terms.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
I know right, I can't help myself.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
It's funny, but I mean, and it's so powerful and
so effective and it's incrediblysimple.
In fact, Jenny McCarthy, youand I were talking about Jenny.
Mccarthy, you know and for thepeople listening.
Yes, that Jenny McCarthy, theone you all know.
Oh yeah.
Judge on the Masked Singer thatJenny McCarthy.
So I've been on her programfour times, you know four
different times, on Sirius XMradio and she, literally on the

(24:23):
air, said, noah, this is magical.
What you created is like magic.
And I said can I quote you onthat?
She said sure, but so use itwhen you can so.
But the point is if, if peopleget nothing else from this
interview, I hope they start aforming.
You know, you know either getmy book of affirmations or power
habits or whatever it is, but Imean that is, yes, it is the

(24:44):
foundational power habit and theand the reason I call it the
foundational power habit isbecause it's exactly like
building your house.
Right.
When you build a house or anykind of structure of building
anything, right?
What do you?
You need?
You need a strong foundation.
If you have a weak foundation, what do you?
Got you have house, or found astructure that ain't gonna be
there that long, right, right,so that's really what it is.

(25:05):
So everything starts, as Italked about earlier, with our
inner game, with our inner game, with our beliefs.
Right, so every what mostpeople are doing, unbeknownst to
them, is sowing really lousythought seeds.
So, using my affirmationsmethod, that's the first thing
we're going to do is change thethought seeds that we're sowing
in the fertile soil of yoursubconscious mind.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Yeah, no, that's good , good stuff, and that stuff
means a lot, because everydecision you make in your life
comes off of the subconscious,of what's going on in the
background Of what you believeabout yourself.
Exactly Every decision thatgets made you, you, you.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
You see life through that lens and, uh, like use my
example of I decided to commitsuicide.
I mean, I, I I used to not tellthat story because I I wasn't
sure how people would take itand I didn't want them to feel
like I was trying to have peoplefeel sorry for me, or something
like that so for years I nevershared that story in public.
And then one day I was at aseminar, in fact it was, you

(26:05):
know, it was my seminar, I wasleading a seminar, you know a
three day program, and anyway.
And so somebody asked me aquestion and I just sort of
blurted it out and and the thereaction of the room was so
emotional and visceral I said,oh, I guess I should start
sharing that story, I becausethey they understood what I
meant by that, that I'd beenreading all these books and

(26:27):
that's where it got me, you know.
I'm not suggesting that thathappened to anybody else, but I
am saying that you know, a lotof people have been reading
these books and they're like isthat, it, is that all you got?
And it's, yeah, it's pretty bad.
I mean, there's just nothingthere.
And so you know that's peoplewho come to me.
Usually they've triedeverything else, which you know,
like the examples that I'veshared with you.

(26:49):
They've tried everything andthey're like how come I'm still
stuck?
How come I'm keep hitting thatsame ceiling?

Speaker 1 (26:54):
That's amazing, that's cool.
Um, okay, so one of the things,um, it says millions of people
are unknowingly starvingthemselves of success and I
guess it's through those andthrough the affirmations as
opposed to affirmations peopleare just really kind of doing it
to themselves.
It's not really like from theoutside in, it's the inside out.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Well, that's actually my second epiphany that I had
in 1997.
Okay, so 1997 was my year forepiphanies.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
It sounds that way over three decades now.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
And actually one of my clients pointed out.
They said Noah, did you realizethat you've been doing this
over four decades the nineties, the aughts, the tens and now in
the twenties.
I'm like, wow, I feel likeWarren moon, you know in the in
the NFL, pretty, prettylongevity here.
So I like that.
Anyway, I was actually.
This was October of 1997 and Iwas sitting at a seminar on
eating disorders and I realized,as the speaker was talking

(27:45):
about people who develop eatingdisorder, I said, wow, that
sounds just like me.
I mean, you know, they have lowself-esteem, they feel like
they shouldn't be here.
They, you know, don't have anyself-worth and just kept going
on.
I'm like man, I check every box.
And then I said why didn't Idevelop an eating disorder?
And that's when I realized,wait a minute.
And I said, why didn't Idevelop an eating disorder?
And that's when I realized,wait a minute, I don't have an

(28:05):
eating disorder, I actually havea success disorder.
Now, nobody, no one, had eversaid that before, like no one
had ever even had that thoughtuntil I had that in that moment
of October 20th 1997.
I realized, wait a minute, Idon't have eating anorexia, I
have success anorexia.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Oh, wow, yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Yeah, which is again a term that I invented for that
thing.
And see, what I realized isthat that, once I understood
that, explain my whole life.
I'm like, oh my God, I thiswhole time I've been starting
myself with success, meaningthat I have been settling for
the crumbs of success just likeother people settle for crumbs
of food, yeah Right.
And so I realized, of course, that I wasn't alone in that.

(28:43):
I mean, I knew that it wasn'tjust me.
You know, as Emerson said, whatis most personal is most
universal.
So that was something that wasvery personal to me, but I knew
it was, of course, universal to,you know, humans.
And so, really, that's that wasthe impetus of why I wrote my
very first book, which wasentitled Permission to Succeed,
which was subsequently publishedby the Chicken Soup for the

(29:04):
Soul publisher.
And then, as a result, now, allthese years later, I'm actually
the only author in history tohave works published by Hay
House, harpercollins, simonSchuster, mindvalley,
nightingale, conant and theChicken Soup for the Soul
publisher.
Those are all the majorpublishers of self-help on
planet earth, and I'm the onlyauthor in history that's been
published by all of them.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Well, that's something to say there.
That's cool, very cool.
So you know what we believe ornot.
We're going to have to wrapthis up soon.
Um, so I know it goes quick, but no, we try to keep it around
30 minutes and, believe it ornot, we're, we're almost there.
So, um, yeah, you'll have tocome back.

(29:44):
