Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Buddhist af Podcast. Sorry
I've been gone for a little bit. Do we are
It's finally happening. We have been packing, and so I
have contemplated packing up the computer because you remember last
time I packed on the computer and started recording on
(00:23):
my laptop wasn't as good. So I wanted to give
you guys a little update. We are packing, so this
might be the last episode for a little bit, at
least until the the next month. So we are going
to go on hiatus for a little bit until we
move to the new apartment, which is not that big
(00:44):
of a deal. It's literally five blocks over, but a
better school. Yeah, yeah, that's what that's what we're doing.
So Alex is homeschool right now. You guys know that,
and we don't know. We don't know. We're gonna keep
doing that. He loves it, obviously, but sometimes mommy and
Daddy need to have some time alone, and so he
(01:09):
does want to go to the new school. So I mean,
that's a good thing, and that's the plan. I believe
semesters are December, so maybe we'll do one more semester
at least get him to spring and then see how
that goes. I mean, by then if we go to spring,
then we might as well just go to summer. It's complicated.
(01:35):
I want to say happy birthday to my little nephew, Frankie.
Well it's not little anymore. He's nine. He is closer
to being an eighteen year old than he is a newborn.
So happy birthday, frank Tank. Congrats to my little niece,
my little niece that I forget I have because I
(01:57):
don't talk about my in law as much. But Mary
has a brother and a sister and my little niece Lenny.
We at Frankie's birthday, we went to a karate school
and they let the kids break boards, cedar boards, and
Alex broke his, Frankie broke his, and my little niece
Lenny is five years old and she's very shy, and
(02:19):
so one of the instructors brought a board out into
the hallway so that she can try to break one
two and you know, obviously a little a five year old,
little timid, and she tried a couple of times and
then finally she broke it. And I was super proud
of her, super proud of her for her, and she
was proud of herself for it. So congrats Lenny for
(02:40):
breaking your first board, and also congrats to my sister
in law Michelle and her her partner Alex. Also Alex,
I know lots of Alex's and lots of Mary's in
welcoming their new baby, Laney. So we have Lenny and Lane. Yes,
(03:00):
I know it's confusing to on twister, but those are
all good news. New members to the family is always
good news because, like I said before, you know, the
chairs are disappearing at the dinner table, and so more
members are always good. I love my family, I love
(03:21):
my nieces and nephews and so awesome. My heart is filled,
so I'm not complaining as much about the dairy apartment
but leaving, so it's all good. What else is going on?
I have, jeez. Since I last talked to you guys,
I have started and finished Spider Man two as my game.
(03:43):
I'm still working on the histories by Herodi Does, but
it's already packed up and I'm going to have to
pick that up when we get to the new place.
This microphone will probably be replaced next go around. I
love this microphone. I'm probably gonna give it to Alex
(04:03):
and he can pretend he's doing a podcast or his
many many quote unquote YouTube videos using his tablet. So
it's a great mic. It's a hyper X solo cast.
Fantastic Mike, But I'm moving closer to one of my friends,
Matt shout out to Mephanie, and maybe he wants to
(04:24):
get in on it. So we can probably get an
omni directional mic or to Mike's who knows it's crazy,
but we don't have any money, so maybe an omni
directional mic is the best way to go, at least
for now. And planning family vacation, so like lots of
things are going on, gears are moving, family vacation. We're
(04:46):
looking at Colorado so or as low people would say, Colorado,
you know, just roll roll the ours and el's just
forget about anything else. Don't even breathe when you're saying it.
But Colorado is a place that unfinished business. The last
time we were there was for a wedding and it
(05:07):
was just all business like we had to go here,
go here, go here, and next thing you know, it's
time to go home, which was a real surreal moment
for me because we had flown home from Colorado and
then we had flown home at night, so we flew
(05:28):
home at night from Colorado. We landed in Rochester because
we had to drop off my parents, and we landed
in the morning. And then Mary decided, you know, like
I miss home. I want to go home, which is
New England. So like, all right, whatever, So we drove
home from Rochester, New York. And this is before Alex
(05:50):
was born, and so we drove home and once I
got home, I'm standing in the middle of the kitchen
thinking to myself, Man, twenty four hours ago was in Colorado,
Like I was at the airport in Colorado, and then
I was in Rochester, New York. And suddenly I'm standing
(06:11):
in a kitchen in dairy in New Hampshire. So that
was a real surreal moment. I liked things like that.
I like just constantly being busy. I remember when my
my cousin's wan shouts out to us one and Cat
came up to visit and we went to the flume. Yeah,
(06:36):
we went to the Flume Gorge and we were pressed
for time, so we decided to go up to the
Flume Gorge in the morning and then you know, we
had fun. We had a blast and then we came
down to the house. We Mary had a house at
the time on Beaver Lake and Dairy and we were barbecuing,
and then we had a photo shoot, like a family
(06:57):
photo shoot, so like you know, in the morning we
were in the mountains, and then midday we were at
the lake grilling, and then in the air you know,
late afternoon we were taking pictures. So I felt like
a felt like a little rock star that day, you know,
like boom boom boom, had to be here, had to
be here a certain time, and those are good times.
(07:18):
And so yeah, I like creating memories like that. Like
now that Alex is homeschooled, I Thursday and Fridays are
considered his Saturday and Sundays because I don't really teach
him much of anything. His mom does the books. I
do the the physical activity. So like I said, his
(07:40):
mom is Mary's there to make him feel special, and
I'm there to make him know that he's special. Only Toss.
And so we've been going out finding all sorts of
new video games and collectible stores, which is really cool
because basically I'm now given free pass to go do
(08:02):
those things that I've always wanted to do. And I
just didn't have the time because Thursdays and Friday's usually
Alex is at school, so I drop him off and
he gets out at you know, I drop him off
at eight thirty. He gets out at two fifty five,
three o'clock, and so I have that window to do things.
And most of the times I'll clean the house and
(08:24):
do the laundry what have you, and I'll clean out
my car and then you know, have some time to
myself and record a podcast, because that's how it started.
It started Thursday mornings, Thursday and Friday mornings. And by
the time all that's done, it's time to pick them
up again. So there are places that I would have
liked to go, and I just didn't have the time.
(08:47):
And by the time I picked Alex up, he's already tired.
He doesn't want to go anywhere. So now now that
you know we're homeschooled, U, there is time, there's time
to do a lot more exploring. And we shot up
to Caleb scaff which is like one of the oldest
general stores in New England. Super cool they have they
(09:08):
make pickles. What's cool about it is they sell buckets
of pickles. A gallon bucket. Bucket, oh pickles is what
they call it. And that's fantastic, like just a bucket
of pickles. And it's not there's no like branding, there's
no marketing on it. It's just a bucket of pickles.
It's fantastic. They also have like old timey candy and
(09:31):
all things like that, and wax bottles. I've never had
a wax bottle in my entire life. I don't even
know how to eat a wax bottle. I think you
just like drink the juice from it, right, I don't know,
Maybe I should google that, but they had those. They
had the neck a wafers, which again a New England thing.
Never had a neck awayfer in my life. Maybe you
guys have and haven't heard back from my Russian friend yet.
(09:56):
What's going on with that? What gives Russian guy girl person?
Hit me up? But yeah, all in all, the last
two weeks have been pretty productive. I don't know if
I told you guys that I now have an iPhone Air.
It is quite thin. It has a really good camera
(10:17):
on it. A lot of people will complain about the
camera because it's one camera, but I mean, honestly, I
don't use the wide angle camera. I don't use the
zoom camera. I mean, I just extend my arm. I'm
lazy and I'm cheap like that, except this phone is
not cheap. So overall, I like the design. I like
the thinness of it. I am going raw with it.
(10:38):
I'm not using a case because that defeats the purpose
of having a really thin phone. The camera fantastic forty
eight megapixels. And you hear all these like complaints about
battery life and all this stuff, and I've never had
an issue with the battery at all. I can go
all day with this thing. Yes, I do have two phones,
use a I use the Air and I use the
(11:01):
Fold seven. So I have two of the thinnest phones
you can get in the US, and I use them
both because work. I work for a multi billion dollar
telecommunication company, so I get some perks. I mean, my
bill is like low. I'm not going to say, but
(11:24):
it is low. And if I were to leave said company,
it would be a lot, it would be a car payment.
So Luckily, I like my job. I like where I work,
I like the people I work with, and I like
the perks I get. So I use two phones, the
Fold seven is my personal phone. That's the one that
I use for like texting, you know, friends and family.
(11:46):
Sometimes I'll actually do all my social media stuff on
the Fold seven, which is great. That's what it's designed for.
It's for content creating, and so I don't use it
to to its max. I guess probably the best way
to say it, because I know a lot of people
on YouTube will tell you that the Fold seven is
(12:07):
a perfect phone for those who create content, and that's me.
I am a content creator. I'm not one of those
annoying content creators that you know has a camera phone
out at all times when bad things happen, because I'm
the one that's actually jumping to those places. So I'm
(12:28):
not judging. I'm not judging anybody, but put the camera
down sometimes. The iPhone Air is my work phone. It
has all my work apps on it, and I do
use it for threads. I am addicted to threads. I
don't know why. It's it's the same as Twitter, it's
(12:50):
the same as Facebook. It's you know, except there's no
ads yet. There's no ads on threads yet, which is
probably why I like it. And I've done pretty well
on threads, Like I get a lot of likes and replies,
so that's a good thing. What else is going on? Oh, hey,
have you guys checked out my book? Yeah, the Growth
(13:11):
by no Chance of Music available on audible. Actually I
don't know if it's available in audible, but the Buddhistet
podcast is available in audible. Yeah, double dip on that.
The channel is doing well. I think we've hit a
thousand views now, So if you guys haven't subscribed to
(13:32):
the YouTube channel yet, please please please subscribe to that.
I'm trying to hit twenty subs by the end of
the year. But again, it's not like I'm trying to
make money or anything like that. It's just something that
I like to do. It's a passion project. It is
a it's a fun thing for me because I love history,
and I'm gonna do a three three, three and three.
(13:55):
So right now I've got three history videos on there
right now, Benedic Donald, Sybil Lttington, and what's the other one,
the email War. I love the email War, So those
three are on there, and the I'm gonna transition over
to mythology for a little bit. Mythology and folklore things
I love talking about. All things I love talking about
(14:16):
and then swing back to to history. It's all historical,
so I mean it's it's all good. And yeah, if you,
like I said, if you guys haven't subscribed, please give
that a sub But oh, somebody wrote, someone wrote in
because I talked about how Spreaker does pay me monthly
(14:40):
and so, uh, the limit on on payment are the
the bar you have to hit on payment is ten bucks,
which is it's not much, but I mean ten bucks
is ten bucks. Hey, I'll take it. But I make
a little a little, I make a little bit more
than that. Thanks to you guys. I appreciate it, Thank
you very much. Like I said, it's enough for a
(15:02):
McDonald's value meal, so yeah, I can get that double
quarter pounder large. That's right. But yeah, that was that
was a question I got last last two weeks ago
when I talked about it that I don't remember what else. Yeah,
that's about it. So, like I said, we are probably, yeah,
very likely, and we are you know what, Yes, yes,
(15:26):
I am everywhere. We are going to go on hiatus
or I am going to go on hiatus. There's nobody
else on this podcast with me. I'm gonna go on
hiatus until the end of the month to the beginning
of the month, because actually end of the month we're
gonna go see my dad and take Alex to see
(15:46):
my dad. He excited about that. There's so many things
that he used to be excited about that he just
doesn't care about it anymore. Like, you know, we'll go
to Cowabanga's or something, which is like a bouncy park,
inflatable you know, inflable castle park, and he USEDI toll
love that, and he's just like mey whatever. You know,
we'll go to like a trampoline park and he'll jump
(16:08):
around for maybe fifteen minutes or so, and then again
he'll just be like, man, I'm done. But if we
say we're going to Boose House, He's still he's still
a kid. He's still like it's still magical to him,
which I again, I love. I appreciate that because he again,
him and my dad are like completely connected. They are
(16:32):
going to be connected probably for the rest of their lives.
Like I said, I'm going to have to somehow exercise
my dad when he passes away from Alex because their
bond is that close. So I'm not going to be
worried about Alex being being alone because, like I said,
(16:53):
my father's going to be there for him no matter what. Yeah,
So probably mid second week of November, definitely before Thanksgiving,
because you know, love me a good Thanksgiving. I am
downloading mass Effect, the Legendary Edition. It's a yearly thing.
(17:15):
Some of you guys probably already know, like every year,
I'll play mass Effect from start to finish mass Effect one,
two and three, and I try to do that before
end seven Day, So November seventh, which is seven Day,
which is the day that Mass Effect is supposed to
be celebrated. Unfortunately, EA has sold sold out and rumors
(17:37):
are they're trying to spin BioWare, which is the company
that created mass Effect. They're trying to spin that off
to a new buyer. And maybe that's a good thing,
maybe it's a bad thing. Who knows, But very likely
we're not going to see any mass Effect game for
probably another say, three or four years, and I don't
(17:58):
know if I got that much time. You know, I
really want to play the new mass Effect, but who knows,
Like thirty one Atlas is coming and twenty twenty seven,
so yeah, but if you guys have never played mass
Effect before, it is a game. I am very very
passionate about Mass Effect. And Assassin's Creed are two ips
(18:23):
that I am absolutely in love with. I don't think
I have to tell you for those who know me,
how much I love Assassin's Creed. I have a tattoo.
I have a hidden Assassin's Creed tattoo symbol hidden in
the trident of the medal of Honor my dad received
(18:46):
for his military service to Laos, and so I have
that hidden in the trident. And I love Mass Effect.
I love everything about it. Hell I even like and Drameda,
to be honest with you, like Andromeda for what it was,
for what it could have been. There's a lot of
things promised. Obviously they didn't get as much time as
(19:07):
they probably should have. A lot of people left mid
project and so a lot of rewrites were done. But
when you get to the final mission of Androma, it's
exactly what it should have been. And it was a
fantastic ending, you know, the way things everything just came together, fantastic.
But MASSI Effect one good janky, you know, it's the
(19:32):
first trial, but very very good storyline. Obviously, I still
quote Saren and I still quote I forget the Reaper's
name now. But he had a really cool line that
was like you live because we allow it, and you'll
die because we demand it. That isn't awesome line, Like
(19:54):
if any villain said that in a movie, I've been like, yes, yes,
great movie. Ten out of ten two was just a
fantastic game. It was a lot smaller game where it
was more of like a quarter type of thing where
(20:15):
it was an open world, which I hate open world.
I hate any game that's open world. So this one
was tighter. It was a good story and great action sequences.
The urgency of you know's what's happening. The Reapers are
taking human colonies again, the urgency there, the storylines there,
(20:36):
the action beat fantastic, and so three comes along and
then ooh got a sneeze, never mind, I don't have
to sneeze. Three comes along and then the Reapers are
attacking Earth now, and so the urgency is definitely there's
it's dialed up to eleven. The action sequences has been
dialed up. You can definitely see that the the team
(21:00):
learned from Battlefield. So like the action sequences, the war
sequences are a lot better and the storylines a lot tighter.
A lot of people hate the ending, and that's where
the the you know, the controversy comes from. But again
that's I don't I'm sorry that it didn't end how
(21:21):
it ended in your head canon. I don't know. But like,
I don't think the developers should have changed anything. I mean,
if you see a painting in a gallery and you
don't like the way it looks, well, I mean too bad,
that's do better, you know, like, may paint something better,
program something better. I didn't like the fact that they
(21:44):
changed the ending, but you know, it is what it is,
and so I really liked that. Oh God, I any
meant a chance to speak about the multiplayer for Mass Effactory.
Mass Effect THORI is multiplayer. It's fantastic, Like it's it's
it's PvE player versus versus environment. So if you guys
(22:06):
are familiar with with Hell Divers, you would know PvE
And so what was cool about that was Mass Effect
three multiplayer was one of the first uh Luke Crates
type of games where you know, you paid to get
like better weapons and things like that. You didn't have
to use those weapons, like you didn't need them to win,
(22:26):
but you had that option and it was optional, which
was good. Like you, Like again, you didn't need those
weapons to to to win the matches, but that was there,
and it did really well. It did so well, in fact,
that the the money generated from the DLC from the
Luke crates actually paid for Mass effectories actual DLCs, which
(22:52):
were all great DLCs. Like there, there were no misses
for mass Effactories DLC, especially Citadel, which is probably one
of the best sendoffs ever. If you played mass Effect one,
played the mass Effect two, played Mass Effect three, you
know about the characters. You know, you bonded with the characters.
(23:13):
You knew these characters like you. They were your team,
they were part of your team, and when something bad
happens to them, you feel for those characters. That's how
good the story is. That's how good Mass Effect and BioWare,
for that matter. Was I'll talk about Inquisition later on
(23:34):
dragon Age Inquisition damn near perfection except for that open
world part, which I will talk about. But yeah, that's
that's another one of my I wouldn't say I'm a
big fan of dragon Age, but I am a fan
of dragon Age, Inquisition and Trespassers DLC. We'll talk about
(23:54):
that later. On, but I have gabbed long enough, so
I will let you got This has been session eighty wow,
eighty episodes already. I had the sneeze. I thought I
had this sneeze, and now my body's like, you know, sniffling,
So yeah, that hasn't I don't think I've had a
(24:15):
a podcast this year where I haven't been sniffling. So
it's good to hear talking to you guys. It's good
being able to get some feedback again. I love it.
I love the feedback. Please keep sending things out to me.
My email is still available, the messaging is still available,
and I'm still looking forward to my comrade. Hit me up.
(24:38):
I want to hear what you got to say. I
just want to say Hi Hi. I want you to
say hi back. Just let me know you're out there
unless they got you. M hm hmm. That's a thought.
No no, no, no, no positives positive thoughts. But I
want to thank you all for hanging out with me,
(25:00):
and I will see you guys next month. I promise
check out the YouTube channel that is still going because
I've uploaded a few videos already. They're just scheduled to
be released, so that will still be a thing that
will still be fresh and and what have you. The
book is doing well. I forgot to talk about the
(25:21):
book The The Grove by No Change the VISUK available
on Amazon. Uh, it's doing well. It's not doing as
well as I would like, but again it's it's something
that still weirds me out. So the threshold on that,
I'm not sure if you if you guys are wondering,
but the threshold on that is I have to make
(25:42):
one hundred dollars before I get paid by Amazon. So
I haven't hit that threshold yet. That's cool. Again, it's
it's just weird that people are paying for my words.
So working on the next book, working on the next
two books actually, so that's gonna be a while. Will
(26:04):
I make it out before h J R. Martin gets
his next book out? I think that's a good race.
I think that is a race. Slow and steady wins there.
I don't know. Yeah, let me see if I can
get my next book out before JR. Martin does. But again,
(26:24):
thanks for hanging out with me, and I appreciate each
and everyone you and as always bobbing. I'll talk to
you guys next time. Bye.
