Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello one, and welcome back to the Buddhist af Podcast.
As always, I'm your host, writer, producer, good time boy
chant of yousuk. Remember to subscribe and share this podcast
so it can grow and go off to a very
expensive college, come back a huge disappointment to the family
(00:23):
and start a podcast. Yeah, uh, I've been I've been
going out a rabbit hole recently. Well a few actually, uh,
the first one being desk setup videos on YouTube. I
don't know what it is that fascinates me about those videos,
(00:44):
but I can't seem to get enough of them. I've
got a pretty decent setup myself. I mean, I've got
a thirty two inch curve monitor, a soundbar underneath that
Yamaha soundbar by the way, a mechanical keyboard, and just
a basic Bluetooth mouse. The PC itself SIT's elevated off
(01:05):
the ground, and my wire management skills are pretty tight.
But I'm always looking for new ways to sometimes move
things around. I guess I can't leave things well enough alone. Unfortunately.
I always seem to just want to see what other
(01:25):
people are doing, because you know, other people are probably
better than me at these things. But pretty decent setup
right now, I don't think I'm going to keep the
thirty two inch monitor. It's kind of much. I sit
maybe two feet away from it, so thirty two inches
kind of overdoing it. It's also ten ADP and kind
(01:49):
of want to get a four K monitor, so we'll
see how that goes. I'll probably put that up for
sale soon. H So yeah, right now, my guilty pleasure
is and watching dust setups until my eyes crossed and
the fins until the phone falls in my face. And yeah,
then it's just pretty much time to go to sleep
(02:10):
pretty much right now because it's as I'm recording this,
it is midnight. So Happy Memorial Day to all of those.
Thank you to all of those who serve, including my dad.
The other obsession I've been doing is I've got a
huge back catalog of video games to play. So if
(02:35):
Nintendo wants to, you know, make it hard for me
to get a switch to I've already said this. I'm
not going to get the first iteration of the switch too.
I'm gonna wait for the second version of it, mainly
because one I can't afford it, Two I probably can't
get one because of scalpers, and three it just the
first release is always kind of buggy no matter how
(02:59):
many patches they at least to it. It's just not
going to just not going to be fixed with just software.
So like the last switch they had the they had
the stick drift, and so version two didn't have the
stick drift, So hey, gonna wait for version two just
to be on the safe side. But I've been playing
(03:20):
through a back catalog of games that I have been
just setting aside for I guess occasions like this where
new systems are coming out and they're too expensive for
me to forward, so I just jump on a bunch
of games. And I tried the RoboCop Rogue City. Pretty
decent game. Not a fan of first person shooters unfortunately,
(03:42):
so I didn't really play it for too long. It
pretty good game, I mean, kind of nostalgic because I've
always wanted to fire that RoboCop gun, you know, the
double shoot, and they gave me that option, and it
was fun, kind of slow pace, but I guess you
(04:02):
are rollo coop walking and I like the fact that
you can like run, but basically it's just double frame
rate of your movement, so kind of funny there. The uh,
some of this stuff is over the top. Basically again,
it's nineteen eighties action. So I punched the guy and
he blew up, and I'm like, I don't remember that
(04:24):
happening in the movie. So once that happened, all realism
kind of just the game was no longer realistic to me.
So I kind of just gave up on it, dove
back into Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and still to this day,
I think Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one of, if not
the most beautiful game I've ever played. The graphics alone
(04:47):
are pretty fascinating, but just the overall world of Assassin's
Creed Odyssey just it's a beautiful, beautiful game. I haven't
played Ghost of Tushimi yet, which a pair is amazing.
Like if you are into art and especially like nature,
(05:08):
that's supposed to be fantastic. I haven't played it yet.
I have it again back catalog of games, so been
doing that, got pretty far and then lost interest. This
is this is my problem when it comes to video
games playing. I get super into it, hours and hours
spent late into the night. I usually go to sleep
(05:29):
it around one maybe one thirty two o'clock just playing games,
and then after about a week or two, I just
lose interest and completely just take it off my plate,
and then months later I'll jump back onto it and
then forget where I left off, or forget what the
(05:50):
tone of the mission I was doing is, and then
I'll just start over and rinse and repeat, gets super
into it, forget about it. Months later, get back into it,
forget what I did, start over again. But the big
obsession right now is animal Crossing. I've had Animal Crossing
for quite some time on the Switch New Horizons. If
(06:12):
you guys are haven't heard of it, I love it.
It's great, it's it's got fishing. I can get a
snorkel for my character. Alex and I have been playing
it together. Sometimes he'd go to bed and I'll still
be playing, and he'd wake up and the island is
(06:34):
completely different than how it is when he left it.
Because if you're playing two players and you guys live
on the same island, you can manipulate the island even
when the other person's not playing. So Alex will, you know,
take care of his house. He'll plant some trees, he'll
he'll fish and all that other stuff, and when he
(06:55):
goes to bed, I'll take over and I'll build around it.
I'll care of my house. Right now. I got a
fenced with a bamboo garden, tranquil bamboo garden. I have
a little hammock and I sit back there and just
enjoy my bamboo. But I've built a bridge so that
we can add more characters. I'd leave notes for him
(07:17):
on the bulletin board to let him know that I
still think about him, you know, when I'm when I'm
playing and he's not there, which which is great because
Alex and I don't play games together often, which which
is a shame because I mean, growing up, I've always
wondered what it'd be like if I had a kid
and they're my player too. You know, that's like, oh, man,
(07:39):
can't we have a kid. He's gonna grow up and
we're gonna you know, we're gonna play together. And well,
it turns out he's he's not that good at video games.
He gives up easily, throws a fit when he isn't winning.
I mean, sure, I suppose I could take it easy
on him, but life doesn't have cheat codes, and he
(08:00):
needs to know that his father will always be the
final boss. I think that's a good life lesson, you know,
like growing up like I don't. I never visioned myself
being a father, probably because I was shy and I
didn't really talk to girls. I mean I talk to girls.
(08:22):
I wasn't like a complete introvert, but never imagined myself
being with a woman. You know. I was always awkward
until I got into pro wrestling, when when got into sports,
and it wasn't until nineteen ninety seven that I gained
(08:45):
my confidence to actually like just talk to people. So yeah,
I was. I was a loner, kept to myself, you know,
the usual nerd stuff, video games, comic books, card collecting,
and I hung out with that type. And it was
weird because when I was a freshman in high school,
(09:07):
I played sports. I played all the sports that was
available to me. I just didn't really go out of
that of that little bubble I had. I was a
fairly decent athlete. I was a starting pitcher for baseball,
and so I had to communicate with my teammates. And
(09:28):
that was fine because those guys were my teammates. They
had my back. And the weird part about it was
when they were my teammates, cool talk to them all
the time, not a problem. And then when we were
not playing sports, I'd see them in the hallways and
they you know, they'd say hi to me or whatever,
and that would just act weird, like why are you
(09:49):
talking to me? Like you're you're an athlete in high school?
Like why are you talking to me? Then I forget
that I'm actually an athlete in high school as well,
so it's kind of weird. I kind of walked that
fine line of like nerds who played dungeons and dragons
and talked pig Latin and was still capable of playing
(10:14):
sports at a pretty decent level. I wouldn't say a
high level. I wasn't an elite athlete, but I kept
up and I made the team every year. So it
was like again, it wasn't until nineteen ninety seven that
I finally like broke out of my shell and started
actually just talking to people normally, I guess, as normal
(10:37):
as you can. So when I was thinking about being
a father, like it's just weird that I would have
somebody who looks up to me, you know, like it's
so strange that your whole purpose in life is to
procreate and make a little clone of yourself who idolizes
you and and worships you essentially kind of like a
(11:01):
god complex. Weird how that works out, huh. But then
you have this person and you are thinking about all
these cool things that are going to happen, like fantasizing,
like we're gonna go to this place, We're gonna have
a great time. And then you realize that this person
(11:21):
is their own person. They're not you, they're not your
wife or my wife. They are their own person, and
they have their own thoughts and feelings. And yes, Alex
loves me, I love you too, But but I can't
make him do things that he's not interested in. I
(11:43):
can't make him play a fighting game. I can't make
him be a secondary character who's gonna follow me around
the screen. He's gonna want to do his own thing.
And I get it, and I'm slowly starting to accept it.
So maybe I should step back and have him take
(12:06):
the lead. Now he's awful. He's awful. He doesn't even
know how to catch a fish properly, and I don't
want to deal with it right now. I'm trying to
build my island. Yes, I'm bringing this back to animal crossing,
but no, I think I think it'll get better obviously
as he gets better at it, as he gets more coordinated,
(12:27):
But then he's going to be better than me. And
that's the problem is that I was the special when
I was the player when it comes to video games,
and eventually he's going to get better at me. But again,
in life, I will always be the final boss, which
is good. I will hold out over him for the
(12:49):
rest of his life until the day I die, and
then on my deathbed as he gets closer to listen
to whatever knowledge I have, what final words I have
to give to him, He's gonna lean in and I'm
just going to whisper to him and then die. That's it.
(13:12):
That's it. Spoiler alert, Alex. If you're listening to this,
it'll just be a sigh. What will it mean? Who knows?
That's pretty much it. It's just a quick update. That's
spout it, guys, So again, thanks for listening. I am
(13:33):
very tired, so I am going to cut this short.
I have worked damn near a week straight. My last
day off was Monday and I'm not going to get
another day off until Thursday. So ten straight days of working. Uh,
(13:54):
pretty tired. So I am going to cut this short.
Just giving you guys a little update and I appreciate
you sticking around, but once again I am no enchance
with VISUK and thank you for listening to the Buddhist
Aff Podcast. As always, Bobignan, Bye,
