Darcie (00:00):
Hey there.
Welcome to the Business ofErgonomics podcast.
Today in the show, we're talkingabout how One Healthcare Pro
used ergonomics to create a newincome stream without even
quitting her job.
Let's dive into this right now.
Welcome to the Business ofErgonomics podcast.
I'm your host, Darcy Jeremy.
(00:20):
I'm a board certifiedprofessional agonist with over
15 years of experiencedelivering ergonomics programs
to employers of all differenttypes.
In this podcast, I share whatother healthcare professionals
are already doing and being withergonomics assessments.
And how to land those clientsthat you dream of.
(00:42):
Without further ado, let's jumpinto this episode right now.
She was working full time in ahospital setting, juggling
patients paperwork andexhaustion, and still found a
way to build a side and comedoing office ergonomics
assessments.
How?
Let's talk about the real story, the real results and how it
(01:06):
might just work for you too.
Hey there.
Welcome back to the Business ofErgonomics podcast, where we
turn expertise into opportunityand show you how to become the
go-to ergonomic consultant inyour city.
I'm your host, Darcy Jeremy, certified professional organist,
homeschooling mom andenthusiastic coffee drinker.
(01:27):
And today's episode is about.
What's possible when you takeyour healthcare background and
layer on just a bit of ergonomicstrategy?
It's a story of how onehealthcare pro, let's call her,
Jess, used her existing skillsand my ergonomic blueprint
course to start a new incomestream without quitting our job,
(01:48):
moving cities, or even goingback to school to get another
degree.
Spoiler alert, she didn't needto buy expensive equipment
either.
She didn't need to open anoffice.
She didn't wait for the perfecttime.
She just started.
Now, Jess is a bit of acomposite character.
(02:08):
She's an OT slash kin slash RNslash pt, depending on who's
listening.
But her story is rooted in realpeople who's gone through the
ergonomic blueprint and haveemailed me things like, I never
thought I could charge this muchfor an office ergonomics
assessment.
I've never booked threeassessments in that building.
(02:30):
I always drove by before.
Never even thought about it.
Two, I finally feel confidentexplaining what I do and getting
paid for it.
Does this sound familiar to you?
Because here's the thing, ifyou've ever said, I love working
with people, but I'm burningout, or I just don't know how to
start offering office ergonomicsassessments.
(02:52):
then hold on tight because thisis a good episode for you.
So Healthcare pros are perfectlysuited for ergonomics Jess
started overwhelmed andunderpaid.
Her days were packed.
She was emotionally drained, andshe kept wondering.
Is this really it for me for thenext 20 years?
(03:15):
Sound dramatic?
Maybe, but if you're noddingyour head, I see you.
And that's what led her toconsider office ergonomics
assessments.
at first she thought, isn't thatjust for engineers?
Or companies with giant budgets,do I need some fancy software or
a biomechanics degree?
(03:37):
What if I mess up the report?
Have you ever thought thosethings too?
Be honest.
I did too.
But here's what changed for her.
She realized she already knewbody mechanics and risk factors.
She had done assessments inevery setting you can imagine,
and she knew she could helppeople avoid pain if she could
(03:57):
just connect the dots.
That's where the ergonomicsblueprint comes in.
It gave her the step-by-step howto do an office ergonomic
assessment, what to look for,how to write report, and yes,
what to charge.
Jess's first assessment wentfrom what if to I did it.
So Let's fast forward to Jess'sfirst paid assessment.
(04:21):
Picture this, she's in herfriend's office, a small
accounting firm with 12employees.
The client was actually herfriend who complained of neck
pain during tax season.
If you're listening to thisright now, there is opportunity
everywhere to get started withoffice ergonomics assessments,
(04:43):
and to get practice, just usethe office ergonomics assessment
tool and ergonomic riskanalysis, root cause helper from
the ergonomics blueprint.
She didn't overthink it.
She trusted the process, andhere's what happened.
She identified three simpleworkstation fixes.
(05:05):
She sent off a clean, clear, professional report using the
blueprint template, and sheactually got paid for everyone
who's listening to this.
I truly believe it's notabsolutely necessary to get paid
in your first assessmentsbecause you are getting practice
just in this example got paid.
However, many of my students ofthe ergonomics blueprint do get
(05:28):
some sort of value exchange, andthat value exchange can be case
studies, testimonials, pictures, anything of value that can build
that ergonomics consultant'sportfolio.
So eventually we're gonna begoing down the route of building
a website.
However, you have to build thatexperience, build the
testimonials and case studies tomake a case for why strangers
(05:54):
are gonna trust you with theirergonomic setup.
So Jess got paid$300 for a 40minute office ergonomic
assessment and a report shepulled together in less than an
hour.
This is what I recommend.
Now remember, she had timesaving tools that she had access
to with the ergonomicsblueprint, the biggest one being
(06:15):
that swipe file or root causeanalysis helper tool that you
just copy and paste theergonomic risk analysis into
your clean ergonomic report.
Jess had that, so as Imentioned, Jess pulled that.
Report together in less than anhour, and that's fairly common
(06:36):
for even beginners doing officeergonomics assessments when you
use the tools I provide in theergonomics blueprint.
Without the ergonomicsblueprint, it will likely take
10 x the time.
And this report is not just forbeginners as a seasoned
ergonomics professional myself,I use the swipe tool for every
(06:59):
office ergonomic assessment thatI do, and I save boat loads of
time.
Back to Jess.
The best part about this firstoffice ergonomic assessment that
she did.
Her friend referred two morecolleagues who were having
shoulder pain, and that's how ithappens, my friend.
You do good work and that goodwork gets a referral whether you
(07:21):
are seeking it out or yourclient gives it to you.
So here's a question for you.
Honestly.
Would you take$300 for 90minutes of your time doing
something that comes naturallyto you?
And a little side note here,that$300 is usually just the
start off point for officeergonomics assessments.
(07:42):
Better yet, what would you dowith extra income?
Would you pay off debt?
Build a travel fund?
Create more space for yourfamily, save for retirement, or
just have another revenue streamthat is consistently giving you
money to help your bottom line.
The opportunities here areendless.
(08:04):
let's hit pause for a second.
If you're listening to this andthinking.
I don't know if I'm experiencedenough.
I'm not great at marketingmyself.
What if I get questions I can'tanswer?
Ask yourself, are those fears orfacts?
Because the truth is mosthealthcare professionals already
(08:25):
have the core skills.
What's missing is the ergonomicspecific context, the templates,
the confidence boost.
And frankly, a little bit of anudge.
That's exactly what theergonomics blueprint delivers.
What's inside.
Let me give you a real quickbreakdown of what you're gonna
get in the ergonomics blueprint.
(08:46):
You're gonna get step-by-steptraining on doing remote and
in-person office ergonomicassessments.

polished and professional.

you're not stuck guessing of howmuch to charge.

(09:30):
two clients?

starts with simply starting.

in some sort of work in daily.
